THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED ON THE DIVER SIDE ,I FOUND THAT ON 2004 AND NEWER MODELS NISSAN ARMADA ALL WHERE CRACKED. WHEN STARTING YOU CAN HERE THE EXHAUST LEAK
JUST RECENTLY I HAVE HAD 2 INCIDENTS WHERE RANDOMLY THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE MADE A HORRIFIC SOUND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND STOPPING POWER WAS PROBABLY REDUCED TO ABOUT 20%. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. LUCKILY BOTH TIMES I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT TRAVELING FAST. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY TRYING TO MAKE A QUICK STOP IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT CROWN NISSAN IN BIRMINGHAM AL. THEY REPLACED THE DELTA SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER FOR 900.00+ DOLLARS. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THESE COMPONENTS SHOULD OF BEEN REPLACED WHEN THE BRAKES WHERE REPLACED BY NISSAN UNDER RECALL BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE SIZED ROTORS. THE DELTA SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER COULD BE INADEQUATE FOR THE NEW BRAKES THAT WERE PUT ON MY VEHICLE. I OPENED CASE XXXX3057 WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO SEE IF THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM AND WOULDN'T EVEN SEND ME A FOLLOW UP IN WRITING AFTER MULTIPLE REQUESTS. SEEMS THEY WANT TO HIDE THEIR DECISION.
AS I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES, THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND AND THE CAR SORT OF SHOOK (SIMILAR TO ABS GOING OFF, BUT A LITTLE DIFFERENT, AND I WASN'T SLIPPING). IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT VERY SQUISHY. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT GO AWAY UNTIL I TURNED THE CAR OFF. AS SOON AS I DID THAT, AND TURNED IT BACK ON THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN, WITH NO WARNING AND UNDER MANY DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. NO ONE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT GOES AWAY WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF. *TR
AS DOCUMENTED IN THE NHTSA COMPLAINTS FOR MULTIPLE MODELS AND YEARS. MY ARMADA (THAT I HAPPENED TO BUY FOR MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY JUST 8 MONTHS AGO), LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHER 04-06 ARMADAS, TITANS, AND QX56 HAS THE RANDOM ABS INCIDENT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT I CAN'T BELIEVE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT IT. DEALERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT IT. PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEIR COMPLETE ABS SYSTEMS REPLACED ARE HAVING THE PROBLEM JUST A FEW YEARS DOWN THE ROAD. THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES UNDER NORMAL, DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE LOSES ALMOST ALL BRAKING POWER, YOU HEAR THE ABS GRINDING AND FEEL IT PULSATING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON, SOME TIMES THE "VDC OFF" AND "SLIP" LIGHTS COME ON. IT'S DOCUMENTED ON VEHICLE RELATED WEBSITES BY HUNDREDS OF USERS. WWW.TITANTALK.COM. WWW.CLUBARMADA.COM. THERE HAVE BEEN VEHICLE CRASHES RELATED TO THE ABS FAILURE, THERE'S PROBABLY BEEN DEATHS (BUT HOW WILL THOSE VICTIMS REPORT THE FAILURE?)...PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED HAVING TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN IT HAPPENS. PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC. PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. BUT NO SAFETY RECALL. WHAT DOES IT TAKE? I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN. THEY RIDE IN THIS CAR. DOES THE NHTSA (AND NISSAN FOR THAT MATTER) NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON FUEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INOPERABLE AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 205,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, THEY MADE A SPRINGY NOISE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE RAN OFF THE ROAD ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE TRAFFIC WAS BACKED UP AND SLOW AND WAS AFRAID I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. NO DAMAGE TO ANY VEHICLE OTHER THAN ONE OF MY TIRES BLOWING DUE TO THE ROUGH TERRAIN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH AND TRIED TO STOP VEHICLE AND IT BARELY STOPPED AND THE BRAKES MADE A SCRUBBING SOUND. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SOMETIMES WHEN I FIRST START THE VEHICLE UP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY NISSAN ARMADA 2004, MY BRAKES LIGHT CAME ON, BRAKES LOCKED UP, BRAKES PEDAL DID NOT WORK AND THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. WAS VERY SCARY FOR MY CHILDREN, HUSBAND AND MYSELF. PULL MY VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE AS FAR AS I COULD. BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT WORK PROPERLY, WAS AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPING DEAD IN ITS TRACKS, BUT STILL MOVING. DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH WHEN SIDE/CURTAIN AIRBAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. *TR
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA LE THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE 2004. IN 2007, I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES, BRAKE LIGHT COMING ON, BRAKES FEELING "CRUNCHY", GRINDING NOISES AND DECREASED BRAKING POWER. THAT ISSUE RESOLVED ON ITS OWN, BUT NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND MORE OFTEN. THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, DECREASED BRAKING POWER, ETC. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND MULTIPLE FORUMS WHERE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF PEOPLE WHO OWN THE SAME VEHICLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WITH SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE, I FEEL IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
I PURCHASED MY NISSAN ARMADA 2004 WHICH HAS LESS THAN 68000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY TRUCK. FIRST, THERE WAS A BRAKE RECALL IN 2006 AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. ONCE AGAIN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BREAKS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKES FAILED; LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY USING THE PARKING BRAKES. AFTER THIS EVENT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ADVISED THAT I NEEDED A NEW BREAK BOOSTER. MY ISSUE IS THAT ONCE I TOLD NISSAN ABOUT MY PROBLEMS THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED AND THEY ARE NO LONGER HELD ACCOUNTABLE. BUT AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER OF AN ARMADA THAT IS HAVING DIFFICULTIES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE BRAKE AND VDC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THEN TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WITH A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND UPON ENGAGEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIVE TIMES. THE REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONSISTED OF THE REPLACEMENTS OF THE ABS CONTROL UNIT, BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I HAVE AN 04 ARMADA WE WERE DRIVING IT A WEEK AGO, WHEN WE CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKES FAILED. IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE, BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON BUT NO BRAKES VERY SCARY FOR US. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND NISSAN TOLD ME ITS THE BRAKE BOOSTER THAT'S FAILING BUT IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED. RESEARCHING THIS THERE IS HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THE SAME BRAKE ISSUE WITH THESE ARMADAS. *TR
APPLIED BRAKES , BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON ABS STOPPED WORKING, BRAKES GROAN. THEY WORK AT 10 %. PLEASE SEE YOUTUBE ENTER ARMADA BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. THERE ARE 100'S OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. ONCE YOU SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT THE ABS RESETS UNTIL THE NEXT OCCURRENCE. THIS HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS, THIS SYSTEM FAILURE WILL CAUSE DEATH IF NOT ADDRESSED. *JB
PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY, PUT IT IN FORWARD GEAR, HEARD A METAL CLICKING NOISE. WENT MAYBE 30 YARDS TO THE NO OUTLET STOP SIGN OF OUR ROAD AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH, PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO SURGE. I DID STOP WAY BEFORE THE SIGN BUT WAS SCARY. STOPPED AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND LOOKED AT IT. STARTED UP AND LIGHT WENT OFF. DROVE 5 BLOCKS AND COMING TO A STREET LIGHT AT A BUSY STATE ROAD AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BRAKES STARTED SURGING ON THE DECLINE OF THE ROAD AND I FINALLY CAME TO A STOP MAYBE 5 FEET BEFORE GOING OUT INTO THE BUSY INTERSECTION OF THE STREET LIGHT. I HAVE READ MANY 2004/2005'S HAVING THIS ISSUE ONCE I DID SOME RESEARCH BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR A RECALL EXCEPT CLASSIFICATION BR06-007 & REFERENCE NTB06-040. THERE IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE NISSAN NEEDS TO SOLVE AND HAVE A RECALL DONE! *TR
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED SINCE I PURCHASED THE USED 2004 ARMADA ABOUT 1.5YRS AGO. THE ARMADA WHEN PURCHASED HAD APPROXIMATELY 123,000 MILES ON IT. NOT LONG AFTER I PURCHASED WHILE DRIVING AT 50MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT THE BRAKES WERE AT APPROXIMATELY 5% AND THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL GRINDING NOISE. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE SO THIN THE BRAKE PADS WERE HAVING TROUBLE GRIPPING THEM AND THAT WAS CONFUSING THE ABS WHICH IS WHAT I WAS HEARING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE BRAKE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AT ADDITIONAL COST. I PAID FOR EVERYTHING TO BE DONE ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN A COUPLE MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY ON A GRAVEL SURFACE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD JUST TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF AGAIN AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT IN. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BRAKES GO OUT, PEDDLE GOES SOFT AND ELECTRICAL NOISE. I TOOK THE ARMADA TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THIS TIME THE BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WHY WASN'T THAT DONE WHEN ALL THE OTHER WORK WAS PERFORMED ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES EARLIER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF THE WORK TO REPLACE THE BRAKES. I PAID TO HAVE THE BRAKE FLUID REPLACED. RECALLS HAVE BEEN DONE ON 2004 ARMADAS FOR BRAKE ISSUES IN THE PAST, DURING MY LAST VISIT TO NISSAN I WAS TOLD THE MODULE THAT CONTROLS ALL THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE COULD BE BAD WHICH MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MY BRAKES FAIL AGAIN BEFORE THEY SUPPOSEDLY WILL KNOW. NISSAN KNOWS THERE ARE PROBLEMS STILL WITH THE 2004 ARMADA BRAKING SYSTEM AND SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL THEM ALL TO FIX THEM. *TR
ON JUNE 6, 2012, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR, THERE WAS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I HEARD CRUNCHING, METAL ON METAL SOUND. ALSO, THE VDC OFF, SLIP AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND ON TO RESET IT, AND IT WORKED, HOWEVER, I BEGAN TO TRAVEL A FEW MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION AND CODE C1179 DELTA STROKE SENSOR POPPED UP. THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE TRUCK AND IT RAN WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK WAS FINE UNTIL JUNE 13, 2012, WHILE LEAVING THE SUPERMARKET IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 10 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I TRIED TO RESET IT AS I DID BEFORE, HOWEVER THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESET. ONCE IT WAS RESET, I BEGAN TO DRIVE HOME AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SO AGAIN, I PULLED OVER TO RESET IT AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT WORKED. THIS ISSUE IS VERY UNSETTLING DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. THIS IS MY ONLY METHOD OF TRANSPORTATION AND I NEED THIS RESOLVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THE STOPPING POWER HAD DECREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND A VERY LOUD NOISE CAME ON WITH IT. MY TRUCK BEGAN TO LOCK UP AND SLOW DOWN. AFTER TRYING TO STEP ON THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP SEVERAL TIMES, IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. I WAS TERRIFIED BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK THE TRUCK WOULD STOP AND I ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF SOMEONE. AFTER GETTING THE BRAKES TO WORK, I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I SAT THERE IN TRAFFIC WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND WAITED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. I STARTED MY TRUCK BACK UP AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE. I DROVE A FEW FEET AND THE ENTIRE ORDEAL STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS TIME AFTER GETTING IT TO STOP. I PUT IT IN PARK AND SAT IN TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. AFTER I STARTED IT UP AGAIN, THE TRUCK DROVE FINE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND I'VE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS, BUT NATURALLY THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO THEM FOR SERVICE, THEY NEVER FOUND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I EVEN WENT ON A DASHBOARD ON LINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE WAS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY HAVE. SOME SAY IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT AFTER THEY GOT IT CHANGED THEY STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK AND WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT SOMETIMES IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER FOR THE COMPUTER TO REGISTER THAT THE HAND BRAKES ARE OFF. I WAS TOLD THIS BY NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IT TRULY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AS THE YEARS GO BY. SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT CERTAIN TIMES AND I HAVE HAD MY BRAKES INSPECTED, CHANGED, AND ALL OF THE ABOVE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT THIS OUT TO NISSAN AND HAVE THEM ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE KILLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT APPROX 45MPH I WAS COMING UP UPON A TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERSECTION AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT INJURING OR KILLING SOMEONE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED OUT BY MY MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED ME THAT A C1179 DTC WAS SHOWING UP IN THE COMPUTER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKES WERE SOFT UNTIL YOU REACHED THE BOTTOM. THEN THE BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE BUT WOULD BRING THE TRUCK TO A SUDDEN STOP. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO COAST ACCROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AT A SPEED OF 40 MILES PER HOUR. THERE WERE FOU PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE, TWO ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN WHO WERE ALL EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED BY THE EXPERIENCE. AT LEAST ONE VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND OURS HAD TO COME TO A FAST HAULT JUST BARELY MISSING THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK. I HD THE VEHICLE TOWED BY AAA BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START OR CRACK UP. AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR ONE DAY HE DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I HAVE A 2004 ARMADA I BOUGHT NEW IN 2005. 08/2011 WAS THE FIRST TIME MY ABS VDL SLIP LIGHTS CAME ON AS I WAS BRAKING, ALONG WITH A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WITH MY BRAKES. THEY READ THE CODE WHILE LIGHTS WERE ON, AND SAID THE CODE WAS 1179. AGAIN, THE SAME LIGHTS WERE ON, AND AGAIN, THEY TURNED OFF AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR. I CALLED NISSAN SERVICE WHO TOLD ME AGAIN THAT THEY NEED TO READ THE CODE WITH LIGHTS ON. THEY STATED 1179 "MEANT NOTHING TO THEM" BECAUSE IT WASN'T DONE AT A NISSAN DEALER. THEY FIRST CHANGED THE ROTOR THICKNESS, THEN THE ROTOR DIAMETER (320MM TO 350MM) AND THE CALIPERS/TORQUE MEMBERS/BRAKE HOSES, THEN FINALLY THEY CHANGED THE INNER HUB DIAMETER OF THE ROTOR DUE TO AN INCREASE IN THE HUB/BEARING SIZE (82MM TO 90MM). NISSAN HAD ISSUED AT LEAST ONE TSB ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY NEVER ISSUED A RECALL WHICH IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE. THE CORE ISSUE IS THAT THESE RATHER LARGE FULL SIZE SUV'S AND PICKUP TRUCKS WERE DESIGNED INITIALLY WITH FRONT BRAKES THAT WERE SEVERELY UNDERSIZED FOR THE WEIGHT/SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS LED TO THE VEHICLES ROTORS EASILY OVERHEATING AND GLAZING THE BRAKE PADS WHICH THEN LED TO HOT SPOTTED, WARPED, OR OTHERWISE RUINED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. ANOTHER SYMPTOM (THAT I BELIEVE IT CAUSED AND THE MOST DANGEROUS PART) IS THAT ESPECIALLY IN THE WARMER MONTHS THE OVERHEATING OF THE ROTORS WOULD CAUSE THE ANTI LOCK FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM SENSORS (LOCATED WITHIN THE FRONT WHEEL HUB) TO TRIGGER (FALSE POSITIVE) RANDOMLY AND YOU WOULD DANGEROUSLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLES ABILITY TO BRAKE (AND STEER) SAFELY. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF MOMENTARILY AND RESTARTING WOULD "CLEAR" THE PROBLEM BUT NEVER THE LESS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO HELP OTHER THAN TO TELL ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AT MY OWN COST. I SAID I WOULD BE HAPPY TO DO SO IF THEY COVERED THE COST OF THE "DIAGNOSTICS" BUT THEY REFUSED. *TR
BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS FAILED TWICE. AT 40,000 MILES AND 80,000 MILES. NISSAN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 40K WITH SAME DEFECTIVE MANIFOLDS WHICH FAILED AGAIN AT 80K. NISSAN OFFERED TO REPLACE WITH SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR A TOTAL OF $2400.00. LEAKS WEREN'T DISCOVERED TILL 83K MILES. I NOW OWN A VEHICLE THAT HAS CONSISTENTLY LEAKED CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE PASSEGER CABIN. MY SPOUSE IS WONDERING IF THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF MY SIX YEAR OLD'S BRAIN CANCER WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED 4 YEARS AGO WHEN THE MANIFOLDS WERE LEAKING FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN HER DAILY DRIVER SINCE NEW. IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN ARMADA AND TITAN VEHICLES HAVE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS THAT FAIL BETWEEN 30/40K AND NISSAN REPLACES WITH SAME DEFECTIVE PART. *KB
NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE ISSUE FOR 2004-2006 MODEL YEAR. NISSAN USA IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING ARMADA HAS ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH,I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR. I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY HAD ME DO A DIAGNOSTIC AT THE DEALER. NISSAN IS STILL NOT DOING ANYTHING TO REPAIR THE BRAKE. *TR
BRAKE ISSUE IN 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. BRAKE IN MY VEHICLE CAME TO LESS THAN 10% AND WITH A 6000 POUND VEHICLE WITH NO BRAKES, I AM PRONE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. ABS RE-ENGAGES AFTER YOU SHUT DOWN THE MOTOR AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO A FAULTY ABS SENSOR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND INTERIOR CABIN LIGHTS BEGAN ILLUMINATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE, WHICH WOULD COST HIM $90. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.
MY ARMADA SHOWED THAT THERE WAS FUEL IN THE TANK. THE GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE TRIP COMPUTER BOTH SHOWED THERE WAS A TANK OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD RAN OUT OF GAS. THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS BAD IN THE ARMADA AND IF I WERE LUCKY MY VEHICLE MAY BE PART OF THE RECALL. MY ARMADA IS A 2004, RECALLS WERE DONE FOR THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON 2005 MODELS AND ABOVE. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO RECALL THE 2004 MODEL. SAFETY ISSUE FUEL GAUGE INACCURACY. I AM REQUESTING THAT THE 2004 MODEL ARMADA BE ADDED TO SAFETY RECALL NTB10037. THIS FAULT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE THE GAUGE STILL SHOWS UP TO A QUARTER TANK REMAINING. LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHICH MAY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING THE RED AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I JUST HAD IT SERVICED TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT CRASH ZONE AIRBAG SENSOR BEING THAT IT IS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT RADIATOR GRILL ENDS UP RUSTING OUT FROM THE ELEMENTS OF OUR WEATHER. THEREFORE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEREFORE IT WAS BILLABLE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I CAME ACROSS A NISSAN RECALL FROM JANUARY 2009. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # IS 08V690000. THIS RECALL WAS FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CRASH ZONE SENSOR RUSTING OUT FROM SNOW/SALT IN THE NORTHERN US STATES BUT WAS ONLY LIMITED TO 2005-2009 PATHFINDERS, FRONTIERS AND XTERRA VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM LISTED IN THE RECALL AND I LIVE IN NY STATE WHICH OBVIOUSLY HAS WINTERS WITH SNOW AND SALT. THE RECALL ISSUED A REDESIGNED SENSOR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. *TR

HE WAS UNABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, CAUSING THE PEDAL TO JERK. HE WAS FORCED TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH CONCLUDED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 67,287.
MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA LE HAS ONLY 20,000 MILES AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENSOR BECAUSE IT WAS READING INCORRECTLY. WHEN I FILLED UP, THE GAUGE WOULD ONLY SHOW IT 3/4 FULL.
