SYMPTOM: NISSAN VEHICLE LOOSES BRAKING ABILITY WHEN THIS SYMPTOM HAPPENS. BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON THE DASHBOARD, BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND THERE IS GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END TOWARD THE WHEELS. VEHICLE BRAKING ABILITY IS REDUCED TO 10% OR LESS. TURNING IGNITION OFF/ON RESOLVES FOR SHORT TIME, BUT NOT A PERMANENT FIX. NISSAN HAS TSB NTB06-040 TO CLEAR THE CODE C1179 FROM BRAKE MODULE. I HAD PREFORMED AT MY COST AND ISSUE CAME BACK. CALLED NISSAN AND OPEND A FILE NUMBER 7181591, BUT THEY ARE BLAMING IT ON ME, NOT THE FLAW THAT IS HAPPENING TO 100'S OF OTHER ARMADAS INCLUDING ME. I AM REQUESTING SAFECAR.GOV TO PROBE NISSAN ABOUT THE BRAKE ISSUE THAT IS AFFECTING 2004 ARMADA, TITAN, AND INFINITY QX56 AND TO FIND OUT IF THEY ARE DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT. BRAKE FAILURE ON 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA: THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS FROM CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENTS DUE TO FAILURE OF ABS SYSTEM. THEY HAVE A TSB NTB-060 OUT AND DEALER WOULD RE-FLASH THE ABS SYSTEM TO FIX THE ISSUE FOR AN HOUR LABOR CHARGE. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO MY ARMADA ON 1/26/2011 AND FOUND 1000'S OF USER WITH ISSUE ON DIFFERENT DISCUSSION FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAIN TO MAKE SURE NISSAN USA WILL TAKE THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY. SYMPTOM IF ISSUE: BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, BRAKE PADDLE WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND SPRING CRACKING NOISE COMES FROM FRONT END. BRAKE DOES NOT WORK 95% TO THE CAPACITY. NISSAN DEALER WILL TRY TO SELL A NEW BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP FOR $1000 IF CUSTOMER IS NOT AWARE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2004-2005 NISSAN ARMADA, AND TITAN. I HAD MY BABY IN THE BACK AND HAD TO DRIVE 5 MILES TO HOME WITH NON EXISTING BRAKE. PLEASE FOLLOW THROUGH NISSAN TO MAKE SURE THEY TAKE CARE OF ISSUES SO IT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE AND LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO A DEFECT THAT MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL. MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA PATHFINDER IS MAKING A WEIRD CLICKING NOISE WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I AM ALSO KNOW FINDING OUT THAT THERE ARE SOME RECALLS OUT ON THE VEHICLE THAT THE COMPANY HAS NEVER SENT ME INFO ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES BUT THEY FAILED TO OPERATE AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE WOULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN BUT THE BRAKES REMAINED OPERABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE JANUARY 2011. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR PARKING BRAKE SHOE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND BOTH ROTORS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH LEAVING NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. NO IMPACT, THE VEHICLE REMAINED STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD WITH NO ISSUES. THE AIRBAGS JUST DEPLOYED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP AND UPON RESTART, OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE FAILED RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA SUV VEHICLE. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS COMMON AMONGST OWNERS OF NISSAN ARMADA VEHICLES, AND WARRANTS NISSAN TAKING ACTION TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS SAFETY RELATED, AND WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION BY NISSAN, AND RECALL TO ENSURE SAFETY OF VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THE VEHICLE IS A FULL SIZED SUV, WITH SEATING FOR 7-8 OCCUPANTS. THE PROBLEM I AM REFERRING TO TODAY RELATES TO THE REAR HATCH DOOR. THE REAR HATCH DOOR HANDLES (THERE ARE TWO) ARE SUPPOSED TO OPEN EITHER (1) THE REAR HATCH WINDOW, OR (2) THE REAR HATCH DOOR. FOR NEARLY THREE YEARS NOW I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH NOT ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR (THE DOOR REMAINS LOCKED AND/OR THE HANDLE MECHANISM IS UNRESPONSIVE). THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. AFTER OPENING UP THE DOOR PANELING TO VIEW THE CONTENTS, THERE IS NOTHING BROKEN OR VISIBLY WRONG, JUST A FAULTY ENGINEERING DESIGN AND/OR COMPONENTS THAT SOMEHOW DO NOT "MESH" TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION. A "GOOGLE" INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH MANY ARMADA VEHICLES, AND OWNERS AND SERVICE SHOPS HAVE HAD DIFFICULTIES RECTIFYING THIS PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE JUST ORDER NEW PARTS BLINDLY HOPING IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, AND IN MANY CASES IT HAS NOT. THE SITUATION WARRANTS NISSAN ENGINEERING TEAM TO REVIEW THE PROBLEM, TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT IS AT FAULT, AND TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO VEHICLE OWNERS. AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THIS ITEM AND HAVE IT REPAIRED BY TRAINED PERSONNEL, NOT BLINDLY BY CUSTOMERS. I HAVE FURTHER READ THAT IN MANY CASES OWNERS RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIPS ANNUALLY TO HAVE THE ITEM LOOKED AT. AS THIS ISSUE IS OUTSTANDING, IT WARRANTS INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL. ONE CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE IMPACT NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN A DOOR HAS WITH A VEHICLE WHOSE OCCUPANCY IS LARGE (UP TO 8 PEOPLE) IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. *TR
2004 NISSAN ARMADA WITH CRACKED MANIFOLDS. *TR
ON 10/16/10 MY FATHER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A TREE (CENTER OF BUMPER) WHILE DRIVING HIS 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. A HIGH DEGREE OF DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED ON THE VEHICLE. HE SUFFERED FROM FACIAL LACERATIONS AND BRUISING. THE AIRBAGS IN THE ARMADA DID NOT DEPLOY FOR SOME REASON. WE HAVE BEGUN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING NISSAN TO REPORT THIS. MY GUESS IS THAT HE HIT THE TREE DOING AT LEAST 20 MPH BASED ON THE DAMAGE (ALTHOUGH MY GUESS MAY NOT BE CORRECT). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED STATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS DEACTIVATED WHILE THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
2004 NISSAN ARMADA SE 4WD VEHICLE JUST STALLS WHILE DRIVING NO WARNING LIGHT SO INDICATION SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH CAR, STALL IN A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION WHILE DRIVING , LOSS OF STEERING BRAKES ETC. DASH LIGHTS BLINK AND LIGHT UP. CAR RESTARTS IF YOU CRANK IT A FEW TIMES , BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL MORE OCCASIONS , TOOK TO A DEALERSHIP AND NO LIGHT INDICATORS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM , THIS IS VERY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND I TO BE IN THIS ARMADA. *TR
I ATTEMPTED TO PLACE FUEL IN MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA AND WAS DRENCHED WITH GASOLINE THAT BACKED UP OUT THE OPENING WHERE THE GAS HOSE WAS INSERTED. THIS WAS UNEXPECTED AND I SMELLED OF GASOLINE ALL DAY.IT WAS ON MY SKIN AND CLOTHING.THIS WAS DANGEROUS AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT LONG TERM EFFECTS ON MY HEALTH. MY GAS TANK WAS NOT FULL AS IT WAS 1/4 FULL WHEN I TRIED TO OBTAIN GAS. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET 20.00 DOLLARS WORTH OF GAS AND THE GAS BACKED UP AND SPILLED ON ME. I HEARD A CLICK AS IF THE TANK WAS FULL ,HOWEVER IT WAS NOT FULL. I ALSO HEAR A HISSING SOUND WHEN I OPEN THE GAS CAP. *TR
SEAT BELTS DO NOT RETRACT PROPERLY, GET CAUGHT IN DOOR AND TIGHTEN UP WITH ANY MOVEMENT, EVEN LOOKING LEFT TO RIGHT AT OPPOSING TRAFFIC. IT IS FREQUENTLY NECESSARY TO UN-HOOK SEAT BELT AND ADJUST WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A DANGEROUS EVENT. NISSAN REFUSES TO REPLACE SEAT BELTS WHEN THIS SAFETY ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION. THE SEAT BELTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED ONLY ON CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS - SINCE MINE IS NOT INCLUDED THEY WILL NOT CORRECT. *KB
BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND A SPRINGING CLUTTER NOISE HAPPENS. I STOP THE CAR, TURN IT OFF AND TURN BACK AGAIN IT'S BACK TO NORMAL. IT HAPPENS PRACTICALLY ONCE A MONTH OR SO BUT ALWAYS SCARY. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT'S FINDING NOTHING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. DURING THE FAILURE A GRINDING NOISE COULD BE HEARD AND THE VEHICLE TOOK A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME TO STOP THAN USUAL. HE STATED THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING FAILURE SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO AUTHORIZED DEALERS AS WELL AS INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUES TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 11/05/10. *LJ

2004 NISSAN ARMADA WITH INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER. *KB THE FIST TIME THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE, NISSAN AGREED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AS A GOOD FAITH GESTURE. HOWEVER, ON FRIDAY JULY 9, 2010, SHE AGAIN EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN SHE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT AGAIN, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE BRAKES SEEMED NORMAL. ON FRIDAY JULY 16, 2010 WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE AND ONCE AGAIN SHE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. FORTUNATELY, SHE WAS ON A STRAIGHT GRAVEL PATH AND WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEY THEN CLAIMED THE PROBLEM WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE MASER CYLINDER, BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE HER WITH A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES TO SUBSTANTIATE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS INDEED DIFFERENT. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED WITH FORCE REPEATEDLY AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE FLAMES ERUPTING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE COLLISION CENTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
EVERYTIME I FILL UP MY GAS ON 2004 ARMADA THE FUEL GAUGE ONLY SHOWS 3/4 FULL NOT FULL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO AVOID A CRASH WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE ONCOMING VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL LOCKED. HE THEN APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED IN ORDER FOR THE BRAKES TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TODAY, MY FAMILY & I ALMOST BOUGHT THE FARM WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT ON A FREEWAY OFF RAMP ON OUR WAY BACK FROM PHOENIX. WE EXITED THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AT THE LIGHT. THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD SCRAPING NOISE, WERE NON-FUNCTIONAL AND WE WERE APPROACHING CROSS TRAFFIC AT 60 - 70 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, STARTED TO APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE AND HEADED FOR THE DIRT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, FIGURING I WOULD RATHER HIT A TREE OR FENCE THAN T-BONE A VEHICLE IN THE CROSS TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY RUBBING THE PASSENGER TIRES ON THE CURB TO CREATE FRICTION TO STOP. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE TODAY IS 61,707. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AS WE HAD TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF & APPARENTLY WHEN RESTARTED, IT REBOOTED A SENSOR THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. (INFO FROM NISSAN DEALER). THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND SOMEONE WILL END UP DEAD DUE TO THIS PROBLEM IF NISSAN DOES NOT FIX IT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES WITHIN A YEARS TIME. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS A MALFUNCTIONING SENSOR IN THE MASTER CYLINDER OR THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILED AND THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE FELL DOWN WHILE DRIVING. UPDATED IVOQ 07/15/10.*JB *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND HAS BECOME WORSE. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE RECEIVED A TRAFFIC CITATION FOR GOING THROUGH A STOP SIGN BECAUSE THE BRAKES FAILED AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP. OFTEN, WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THE PEDAL WOULD GO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND A LOUD METALLIC SCRAPING SOUND COULD BE HEARD AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, PER A TECHNICIAN AT A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WAS TO COAST TO A STOP AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAIT 15 SECONDS, THEN START IT AGAIN. THE TECHNICIAN STATED IT RESETS A SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BRAKES WILL WORK FINE FOR A SHORT TIME. UPDATED IVOQ 09/15/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR AIR CONDITIONER REFRIGERANT TUBES WERE REPAIRED DUE TO FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE HOSE CLAMP WHICH WAS CAUSING THE TUBES TO FRACTURE AND LEAK. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED BRAKES WERE REPLACED A TOTAL OF THREE TMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2004. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF HIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MODEL WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR A VEHICLE HIS SIZE AND THE 2005 AND OLDER MODELS. THE NISSAN DEAL THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TOO TOLD ME THAT NISSAN HAS PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MANIFOLDS. THEY CORRECTED THE ISSUE, BUT ALMOST EXACTLY 66K MILES LATER THE MANIFOLDS HAVE AGAIN CRACKED. NOW I AM OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT THAT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE NISSAN PRODUCT. MANIFOLDS SHOULD NOT BE GOING BAD AFTER 66K MILES. *TR
BRAKES ON SUV HAVE FAILED TO WORK AS DESIGNED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DUE TO NON-MECHANICAL ISSUES. PROBLEMS MAY STEM FROM ELECTRICAL OR SENSOR ISSUES. WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY, GOING APPROX. 45 MPH THE BRAKES ON MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA COMPLETELY WENT OUT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, MY BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT TO THE TUNE OF $1300. IT IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING REPAIRED. I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN HQ ON 5/6/2010 AS WELL. WHILE THE SERVICE MAN WAS DRIVING INTO THE SERVICE BAY, THE CAR STALLS IN SAME MANNER. THEN, THEY SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL PART PROBLEM IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE. COULD HAPPEN A FEW TIMES IN A DAY OR IT MAY NOT HAPPEN FOR WEEKS OR MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS TO KNOW NOTHING OF THE ISSUE WHICH MAKES ME VERY SUSPICIOUS. THIS IS A FAIRLY WELL KNOWN ISSUE. THEY WANT TO CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE FOR A PROBLEM I AM SURE THEY KNOW HOW TO FIX. OUR 2004 NISSAN ARMADA LE HAS ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE NOT READING CORRECTLY. EVEN AFTER FILLING UP, IT NEVER READS FULL, OR EVEN WHEN LESS THAN 1/4 TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL READ AT HALF OR MORE. THEN IT WILL DRASTICALLY DROP FROM THE 1/2 TANK MARKER DOWN TO EMPTY. WE VERIFIED THIS WITH NISSAN AND THEY TOO ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH REGARDS TO THE ABS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE BREAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. 2004 NISSAN ARMADA INTERMITTENT BRAKE FAILURE. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING, OR ANY INDICATION ON THE DASHBOARD THAT THE BRAKES WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,200. *JB
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE JUST PRIOR TO JULY 1ST, AGAIN ON JULY 4TH, AND THE LAST INCIDENT WAS JULY 12TH, 2009. AFTER THE FIRST 3 INCIDENTS ONCE I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT OFF. HOWEVER, ON JULY 12TH, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS FOR THE BREAKS AND ABS SYSTEM ALL LIT UP. THERE WAS VIBRATION AND THEN THE BACK BRAKES MADE THIS HORRIBLE SOUND LIKE METAL HITTING METAL. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE PROBLEM DIDN'T CORRECT AND THE BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGING PROPERLY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER A NISSAN DEALER. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC I USE FOR MY OTHER VEHICLE AND HE PUT MY NISSAN ARMADA 2004 PATHFINDER ON THE LIFT AND CHECKED THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE IN GOOD CONDITION BUT HE SAID THE ABS SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE CHECKED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I ONLY HAVE 28,815 MILE ON MY VEHICLE AND THE DOWNEY NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD UPDATE THE ABS COMPUTER SYSTEM BUT THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW BRAKE BOOSTER BECAUSE THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I GOOGLED THE NISSAN BRAKE BOOSTER PROBLEMS AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO MANY NISSAN ARMADA AND COULD NOT FIND A RECALL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF CRASHING IF THE BRAKE FAILS TO ENGAGE OR WORSE. THE DEALER ASKED NISSAN TO HONOR "IN GOOD FAITH" THE WARRANTY BECAUSE MY CAR WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND HD ONLY AT 28,815 MILES LESS THAN THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY ALBEIT PAST 3 YEARS.
