TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMED WITH 1/4 TO A FULL TANK OF FUEL; THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE LOW FUEL ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN "BROKEN IN" DUE TO LOW MILEAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHICH THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,500.
THE ER/PARK BRAKE CABLE WRAPPED AROUND AXEL BRING THE ARMADA TO A INSTANT STOP FROM 55 MILES PER HOUR. THE FORCE BROKE THE AXEL AND DISLODGED THE DIFFERENTIAL. POLICE WHO RESPONDED STATED IT WAS A MIRACLE I WAS ABLE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING HEAD OR END OR TO THE SIDE WHEN THE AXEL SNAPPED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRACKET HOLDING THE CABLE ABOVE AND OVER THE AXEL FAILED. THERE IS EVIDENCE ON THE OTHER SIDE THAT THE BRACKETS ARE RUSTING AND THE WELD IS SPLITTING. I AM A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER, I DO NOT FEEL THAT NO ROLLING OF THE VEHICLE OR LACK OF INJURY OR DEATH WAS A MIRACLE. I FEAR FOR THE STANDARD MOM DRIVING HER CHILDREN WHEN THIS OCCURS. *TR
2004 NISSAN ARMADA - BRAKE FAILURE. THIS IS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN IN THE PAST TO OPEN A CLAIM. THE PERSON ON THE PHONE RECOMMENDED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER (WHICH WE HAD DONE AT LEAST 3 TIMES PRIOR). WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT THERE WAS 'NO TROUBLE/PROBLEM FOUND' (ONLY ONE TIME PRIOR DID THEY UPDATE THE CODE TO THE COMPUTER - ALL OTHER TIMES - NO TROUBLE FOUND). I MENTION THAT WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 OR 4 TIMES, BUT ACCORDING TO MY WIFE WHO DRIVES THIS CAR EVERY DAY, THIS HAPPENS TO HER AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH - THAT IS OVER 20 TIMES SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT! I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALER, RENTING A CAR FOR THE DAY - JUST TO HAVE 'NO TROUBLE FOUND'. QUITE FRANKLY, MY WIFE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INCIDENTS OF THIS PROBLEM REGISTERED. I JUST WOULD LIKE IT FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL SO MY WIFE AND CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP PUTTING THEIR LIVES AT RISK, WONDERING IF THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO WORK OR NOT. PLEASE HELP. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACK CAUSING LOSS OF POWER AND CO INTRUSION INTO CABIN. HAD TO REPLACE AT OWN EXPENSE. KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NISSAN HAS INCONSISTENTLY ADDRESSES UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I WAS COMING UP ON AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRUCK DIDN'T STOP, SO I TURN TO THE LEFT AND HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES WHERE APPLIED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LIGHT KNOCK AND NOTICED BRAKE LIGHT ON. WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES THEY STARTED MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WHEN I RESTARTED BRAKE LIGHT WAS OFF AND BRAKES WHERE WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. MECHANIC SAID BRAKES WERE FINE EACH TIME. *KB
WHILE DRIVING AT ONLY 10 MPH COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE FAILED TO WORK. A GRINDING AND SCRAPPING NOISE WAS MADE AND EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN THEN BRAKE LIGHT TURNED OFF AND BRAKES WORKED FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7-10 TIMES SINCE THEN AT SPORADIC TIMES. THE LAST TIME I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH WITH MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF IT IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS DONE TWICE. I CONTINUALLY TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO FIND SOMETHING WRONG AND REPAIR IT, EACH TIME I AM TOLD NOTHING CAN BE FOUND. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
LUCKILY, I WAS ONLY DRIVING 25 MPH ON MY WAY HOME FROM TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL BACK IN MARCH. I APPROACHED THE STOP SIGN BY MY HOUSE AND APPLIED THE BRAKE, BUT TO MY SURPRISE THE TRUCK WASN'T STOPPING. I HELD THE BRAKE DOWN AND NOTHING. I WENT RIGHT THRU THE STOP SIGN AND KEPT BRAKING. FINALLY MY SPEED HAD DECELERATED ENOUGH TO COME TO A STOP. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AGAIN AND COULD NOT GET IT TO REPEAT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE TRUCK SEEMED TO BE STOPPING FINE NOW. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE I HIT A PATCH OF OIL. I TOLD MY HUSBAND AND HE SAID THE SAME THING. THEN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM. WE HAVE HAD OUR TRUCK FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND THIS HAD OCCURRED PROB. 4-6 TIMES. WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED. THIS STILL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY NISSAN CAN FIGURE OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND FIX IT BEFORE SOMETHING AWFUL HAPPENS TO SOMEONE. *TR
WITH IN FIVE MINUTES OF DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THERE WAS A LACK OF BRAKE PRESSURE AND A GRINDING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE HAD VERY MINIMAL BREAKING POWER AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY THE BRAKES ALONE, COASTING IS REQUIRED. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE SYSTEM WILL RESET AND THE BRAKES WILL RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. LAST YEAR, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND I CAREFULLY DROVE IT 2-3 MILES TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHILE THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON, WHICH REVEALED A FAILURE OF THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR (C1179). I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO DRIVE IT AND EXPERIENCE THE LACK OF BRAKES BUT BY THE TIME HE DROVE IT THE SYSTEM HAD RESET ITSELF. THE DIAGNOSIS CANNOT BE DONE UNLESS THE BRAKE LIGHT IS ON. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT OTHER'S HAVING THIS PROBLEM AS WELL AS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT PENDING. *TR
REAR OBSTACLE SENSORS DO NOT WORK. FRONT SUSPENSION CREAKS IN COLD WEATHER - EXCESSIVE WEAR TO BUSHINGS. *TR
MY PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 12/5/08 WHEN MY TRUCK DIED UNEXPECTEDLY. IT RESTARTED THEN LATER MORE OF THE SAME ON THE SAME VOYAGE. LOCAL NISSAN WAS CONTACTED THAT DAY AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR 12/15/08. AT THAT APPOINTMENT IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE SECURITY FUNCTION AND WAS RESET AND KEY WAS REPROGRAMMED. THEY HAD NOTED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MILEAGE WAS 81,470, 1470 MILES OVER THE FEDERAL WARRANTY. MY MILEAGE WAS ARGUABLY UNDER THE 80,000 WARRANTY LIMIT WHEN THE APPOINTMENT WAS MADE A WEEK PRIOR. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. THIS TIME IT IS ADDED WITH POWER LOSS OF MASS PROPORTION ON AND OFF AGAIN. AGAIN BACK TO NISSAN WERE THEY ARE POINTING AT THE MANIFOLDS. OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS HAVE HAD THE IPDM, BCM, ECM, MANIFOLDS, AND THE KEY REPROGRAMMED AND THE DEALERSHIPS STILL CANT FIND THERE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACKNOWLEDGES MY CONCERN THAT THIS ISN?T THE PART CAUSING THE INTERMITTENT ISSUES. NISSAN REALIZED THE PROBLEM WITH ITS MANIFOLDS AND CORRECTED BY MAKING THEM ?BEEFER? AND ADDING A SUPPORT BRACE IN LATER PRODUCTION RUNS. I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM THROUGH NISSANS CONSUMER SERVICES, BUT WAS DENIED ASSISTANCE (CASE #6392768). THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH NISSAN TRUCK CUSTOMERS WHOSE MANIFOLDS HAVE FAILED IN THE SAME EXACT PLACES ON THE PART DURING THE PRODUCTION RUN DATE. NISSAN HAS EVEN WARRANTED THIS PART TO OTHER CUSTOMERS AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE WARRANTY BUT WHY NOT ME? THERE SUGGESTING ?STARTING? WITH THE MANIFOLDS @ $2400 ESTIMATE I CAN?T AFFORD, AND IF THAT DOESN?T FIX THE PROBLEM IM IN THE SAME BOAT AS THE OTHER? THROW PARTS YOU CANT AFFORD AT IT? CROWD. I BOUGHT THERE FLAGSHIP VEHICLE, EXPECTING UTMOST SERVICE UNLIKE THERE COUNTERPARTS. IM READY TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE I CROSS FROM THE NISSAN PRODUCT LINE, MY LAWYER HAS ALREADY BEEN CONTACTED, AND IF THIS ISN'T RESOLVED SWIFTLY BEING WITHOUT A VEH. *TR
THREE MONTHS AGO, THE DIFFERENTIAL IN MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAID THAT BOLTS WERE MISSING FROM THE AXLE AND HE WAS VERY PERPLEXED AS TO WHY THAT WOULD BE. THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPAIRED BUT 3 MONTHS LATER THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DIDN'T WORK AND THE AXLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. HE CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS WAS EXTREMELY COMMON IN ALL OF THE NISSAN ARMADAS. THEY EVEN STOCKED THE FRONT AXLES BECAUSE THEY GO THROUGH SO MANY OF THEM. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE PROPERLY, SOMETIMES WOULDN'T CLOSE AT ALL, SOMETIMES WOULD CLOSE BUT WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. CALLED NISSAN REGIONAL CENTER ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO COVER IT BECAUSE IT WAS PAST WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE OF 05. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BROKEN LATCH AND REMOTE LOCK FOR WHICH I PAID TO HAVE REPAIRED. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FELL BELOW FREEZING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES FOR REPAIR. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS TAKEN TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPAIRED FOR MAKING GRINDING NOISES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS USING THE WRONG BRAKES. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE PRESSURE GOES DOWN AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATES. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER CANNOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. UPDATED 05/08/09. *LJ THE RIGHT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. UPDATED 05/11/09.*JB
ON MANY OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY NISSAN ARMADA, UPON BRAKING, THE BRAKES APPEAR TO BE GIVING OUT. THE SLIP BRAKE LIGHT ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON. IT HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN WHEN IT'S RAINING, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN IT'S PERFECT WEATHER. I HAVEN'T NOTICED FOUND ANY RECALL NOTICES, BUT IS DESPERATELY IN NEED OF HAVING MY BRAKES REPAIRED. CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE BRAKES REPAIRED MYSELF AND HONESTLY WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO HAVE REPAIRED. *JS
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS DIFFICULT TO OPEN WHEN COLD AND WON'T CLOSE THEREAFTER. ALSO, MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WON'T ROLL BACK UP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE AIR BAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED WITHOUT AN IMPACT OR CRASH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT FOR THREE WEEKS. AT THE END OF THE THREE WEEKS, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE DEALER STATING THAT THE COMPUTER THAT DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE INDICATED THAT IT HAD BEEN IN A ROLLOVER CRASH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE AIR BAG DEFECT HAD BEEN A MANUFACTURER ISSUE AND WAS NOT DUE TO A ROLLOVER CRASH. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 55,532.
WHILE EXITING THE INTERSTATE, WENT AROUND THE EXIT RAMP. THE BRAKES DEPRESSED FARTHER THAN NORMAL AND MADE A GRINDING SOUND. THE BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ONE. THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE I TRIED TO BRAKE. I NARROWLY MISSED THE GUARDRAIL AND MANAGED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN, ALTHOUGH IT TOOK LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, AND I DROVE SLOWLY TO A SERVICE STATION NEARBY. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED, AND I WAS TOLD I HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON AND THAT THE BRAKES HAD JUST "HEATED UP". I WASN'T DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BREAK ON THOUGH. IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER AND WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE STATION. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT NEEDED TO GO TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE SERVICE CODES PULLED, AND THAT THERE HAD BEEN BRAKING ISSUES WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR. FURTHER INVESTIGATION ONLINE REVEALED IT CAN BE FIXED BY SHUTTING CAR OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN, AT RANDOM TIMES WITH NO ANTECEDENT. I DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AND LEAVE PLENTY OF BRAKING ROOM, AS I AM NERVOUS ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAKES AND MY ABILITY TO STOP. PLEASE HAVE NISSAN ADDRESS AND FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM!
THE RED AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK IT TO TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY A FAILED SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BUT COULD NOT BE SURE UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY $1400.00 NOT REFUNDABLE IF THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. IT COULD ALSO BE THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM ASSOCIATED WITH THAT SEAT. REPORTEDLY FROM BOTH THE DEALERS COMMENTS AND MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE TYPE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT WOULD RANDOMLY ILLUMINATE. UPDATED 08/16/12
MY WIFE HAS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA AND I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. BOTH VEHICLES HAVE HAD A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH. THE SYMPTOMS ARE A GRINDING NOISE FORM THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON, AND INEFFICIENT STOPPING POWER NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE EXERTED ON THE PEDAL. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING, THE SYMPTOMS DISAPPEAR. THE COMPUTER DOES NOT RECORD ANY FAILURE CODE AND THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT NISSAN HAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN THAT SPECIFIES TO REPROGRAM THE VEHICLE COMPUTER BUT IT DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WILL NOT RECUR. NEITHER IS THIS PROCEDURE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY OF THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM IN NISSAN INTERNET FORUMS AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AS I WAS ABLE TO FIND NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THE SAME. I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT DOES AFFECT THE STOPPING ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALMOST ASSURES AN ACCIDENT IF THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT ANYTHING MORE THAN PARKING LOT SPEEDS. *TR
ONCE EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEKS, I HIT THE BRAKES IN MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA AND IT MAKES A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND NOTHING HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE DOESN'T STOP. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. I WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND THAT REPAIRS NISSANS FOR THE EMPLOYEES AT THE NISSAN CANTON PLANT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THAT MODEL VEHICLE AND IT WAS A SENSOR THAT WAS BAD. HE SAID THEY HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS SENSORS ON EMPLOYEES VEHICLES. I'M WONDERING WHY THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL. SIMULTANEOUSLY HE HAS TO USE HEAVY BRAKE APPLICATION TO DECELERATE. USUALLY HE HAS TO RESTART THE ENGINE TO RESET THE BRAKE SENSOR. BRAKE FAILURE INCREASES THE RISK OF VEHICLE CRASH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND HAD THE ABS SENSOR REPLACED. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND NOT ON A REGULAR BASIS. SOMETIMES ONCE A WEEK OTHER TIMES TWICE A WEEK. WHEN YOU BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP BE IT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, IT DOES STOP THE VEHICLE NO PROBLEM, BUT UPON TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND TRYING TO DRIVE AWAY, THE BRAKES WILL NOT RELEASE. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED THERE WAS NO PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. THE PEDAL SHAKES HARSHLY AND A GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD. THE PEDAL ITSELF GOES TO THE FLOOR AS IF ALL THE BRAKE FLUID IN THE SYSTEM IS GONE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THE CONDITION EXIST EXCEPT FOR A "BRAKE" LIGHT WARNING IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HOWEVER THIS DOES NOT HELP, BECAUSE EVERY TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ALREADY. THE LIGHT MIGHT AS WELL STATE "GET READY TO CRASH". THE BRAKES STAY LIKE THAT UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES SINCE THEN, IN DIFFERENT CLIMATES AND TIMES. I HAVE CHANGED BRAKE DISCS AND PADS AND TOPPED THE FLUID OFF THINKING MAYBE A DIFFERENCE IN PRESSURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FLUID OR THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL THAT WAS LEFT ON THE BRAKING SURFACES; THIS IS NOT THE CASE. NUMEROUS POSTS ON THE INTERNET HAVE POINTED THIS EXACT FAILURE OUT AND A FEW OWNERS HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS ACCORDING TO THE POSTS ON ARMADA SPECIFIC WEBSITES. NISSAN HAS ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS MODEL. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS WITH THE FRONT ROTORS BEING TOO SMALL FOR THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING PREMATURE WARPING DUE TO HEAT. I HAD THIS FIXED A FEW TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS HAVING TO REPLACE THEM MYSELF A FEW TIMES. THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW ON NISSAN'S PART. THIS A COMPLAINT REGARDING MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA SE WHICH CURRENTLY HAS 23K MILES. IT STARTED ON 9/7/05, WHILE DRIVING OVER THE SPEEDS OF 55 MPH, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THEY LOCK UP & DON'T WORK. THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE BRAKES CAME ON THE DASH. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER & THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND. THEY REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS & PADS, THEY ALSO TURNED THE REAR ROTORS & REPLACED THE REAR PADS. THIS WAS ON 9/7/05. ON 4/21/07 WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED TO APPLY MY BRAKES & THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK & THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH & ON THE SAME DAY, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER & THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON THE VEHICLE & THEY FOUND THAT ONE OF THE CODES HAD AN ERROR. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON 3/17/08, I WAS DRIVING & I ATTEMPTED TO APPLY MY BRAKES, WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED, THE EMERGENCY BRAKES DID NOT WORK & THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON THE DASH. ONCE AGAIN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, I ADVISED THEM AT THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME I HAD BEEN THERE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, IN WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS TIME THEY SAID THAT IT WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE & THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED & THAT THIS MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS ADVISED BY THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALER THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE THIS PROBLEM. OF COURSE, THIS RESOLUTION WAS NOT OFFERED OR ADVISED IN MY PREVIOUS VISITS AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PAID UNDER THE WARRANTY. CONVENIENTLY, I WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED & AFTER PAYING $1,000.00 OUT OF MY POCKET TO FIX. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A HEATER ACTUATOR, WHICH CONTROLS THE VENT DOOR. ITS A $2.00 PART THAT IS BURIED INSIDE OF THE DASH. 2004 ARMADA DIFFICULT TO CONTROL OVER BUMPS. RIGHT REAR TIRE CONTINUOUSLY BOUNCES CAUSING VEHICLE TO WANDER WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. STEERING WHEEL CONTINUOUSLY VIBRATES ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND TEST DRIVEN BY MANY MECHANICS INCLUDING NISSAN DEALERSHIPS TO NO AVAIL CAN THEY LOCATE THE PROBLEM. ALL 4 TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. AIR BAGS PERFORMED ACTIVE TESTS TO REAR AIR SHOCKS AND WERE WORKING FINE. BAGS WERE CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND NONE WERE FOUND. ALIGNMENT IS FINE. ALSO, VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE RUST UNDERNEATH (WE HAVE NEVER TOWED ANY BOATS OR ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE WEIGHT LIMIT OF THE VEHICLE.) *TR

THE MANUFACTURER DIDN'T PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THIS PROBLEM COULD LEAD TO MANY ACCIDENTS AND WHEN A VEHICLE THIS BIG AND HEAVY CAN'T STOP THE ACCIDENT'S COULD LIKELY BE FATAL . I PURCHASED 5 OF THE SAME TIRES FROM METRO NISSAN IN REDLANDS, CA ON 7-14-07, SEE THEIR INVOICE BAR #AC238261. I HAD A FLAT TIRE (PUNCTURE) IN ANOTHER OF THE SAME TIRE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND WAS PATCHED. *JB

EXTREME BRAKE JUDDER CAUSING SEVERE LOSS OF STOPPING EFFECTIVENESS: 1) WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN OUR 2004 NISSAN ARMADA EXTREME BRAKE JUDDER OCCURRED DURING NORMAL APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES. 2) THIS IS THE SECOND TIME BRAKE JUDDER HAS OCCURRED WITH OUR 2004 NISSAN ARMADA AND BOTH TIMES THE EFFECT HAS BEEN SEVERELY REDUCED STOPPING CAPABILITY. 3) IF SCENARIO OCCURRED DURING A ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP IT'S EVIDENT THAT THE 2004 NISSAN ARMADA WOULD OF EASILY ENTERED THE INTERSECTION POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE THEN LOST POWER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. HE STATED THAT IT FEELS AS IF THE ABS IS ENGAGING AND THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 20% OF ITS BRAKING POWER. THE CONTACT HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
