THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP COMPLETELY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN OUT OF GARAGE AT LOW SPEED. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A CLUNK AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNING SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS. UPON INSPECTION, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIE ROD HAD DIS-ATTACHED ITSELF FROM THE WHEEL, RESULTING IN NO STEERING CONTROL OF THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A SPEED GREATER THAN 25 MPH, SERIOUS/FATAL ACCIDENT AND INJURY WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS MALFUNCTION OF THE SYSTEM WITH NO PRIOR WARNING SIGNS.
