SUDDEN TREAD SEPARATION ON FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT P215-65R15 TIRES FACTORY INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER XE 2WD DRIVE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING ON I-10 EAST AT 75 MPH FROM PHOENIX TO TUCSON AZ, THE TREADS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED WITH NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A SLIGHT WOBBLE SIMILAR TO THAT EXPERIENCED WHEN THE WHEELS ARE NOT BALANCED PROPERLY AND WITHIN MINUTES, THE TREAD SEPARATED AND CAME OFF COMPLETELY. THE FLYING SHARDS OF TREAD RIPPED THE MOLDING UNDER THE BUMPER PARTIALLY OFF, DAMAGED THE RIGHT TURN LIGHT MECHANISM AND CAUSED MINOR DENTS AND PAINT WORK DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FOR A BRIEF INSTANT BUT AS THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO SERIOUS DAMAGE OR BODILY INJURY. COMPLETED TRIP ON SPARE TIRE AND IMMEDIATELY REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. TIRES HAD ~37000 MILES ON THEM AND HAD PLENTY OF TREAD LEFT AS THE MILES WERE MOSTLY SLOW CITY MILES. THE DAMAGED TIRE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. *NM
MY NISSAN 2000 SE 4X4 EXTENDED CAB HAS AROUND 27000 MILES. I PURCHASED IT NEW FROM CARMAX ON 6/9/2000. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK I EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I NOTIFIED MY NISSAN DEALER BUT COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I'VE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM BUT IT NOW OCCURS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME I DRIVE. IT TURNS OFF FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEN COMES ON AGAIN. MY LIGHTS OR OTHER SAFETY EQUIPMENT ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS FAILURE. DURING THE FAILURE I CAN'T TELL HOW FAST I'M DRIVING. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR WENT INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE POLE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL AND THE BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE POLICE WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM HE EXPERIENCED WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL. CRACKED MANIFOLD. *NM
POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION DEFECT IN NISSAN TRUCK CERTIFIED MAIL. *TS THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS THAT TWO INTERNAL BUSHINGS HAD MANAGED TO MOVE, CUTTING OFF THE SUPPLY OF TRANSMISSION FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSED IT TO OVERHEAT, SEIZE AND FRACTURE THE GEARS IN THE PLANETARY SYSTEM. *JB
ON THREE (3) SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE MECHANICAL LINKAGE FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE FAILED, AND HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. FORTUNATELY, THIS HAS NEVER OCCURRED DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. IN ALL CASES, THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE WELL ABOVE FREEZING, SO ICE/SNOW WAS NOT A FACTOR. "INCIDENT DATE" IS THE MOST RECENT OF THE THREE. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK HOLDING THE PASSENGER IN THE SEATBELT RESTRAINT. THE SEATBEL WAS LOCKED IN THE FULLY EXTENDED POSITION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED SO HARD THA CONTAC'T WIFE SUSTAINED AN EYE INJUR AND , ALMOST BECAKE COMPLETELY BLIND. THERE WAS A 90% CHANCE THAT SHE WILL LOSE HER LEFT EYE, AND ABOUT 15% THAT SHE MAY LOSE HER RIGHT EYE. THE CONTACT STATESD THERE WERE VISIBLE BLOOD SPOTS ON THE AIR BAG WHERE THE DRIVER' S EYES WERE INJURED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE PICKED UP BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A MINOR ACCIDENT ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, BUT IT WASN'T SERIOUS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
REAR SHOCKS ON 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER RUSTED COMPLETELY OFF AT THE CONNECTION WITH THE FRAME WITHOUT ANY WARNING. HANDLING BECAME VERY UNSTABLE. FORTUNATELY OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED IN THE CITY AND VEHICLE REMAINED CONTROLLABLE. ON THE HIGHWAY, SITUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. *JB
MY 9 YEAR OLD SON AND I TOOK A TRIP UP NORTH TO SD. ON OUR FIRST DAY OUT APPROX. 70 MILES AWAY FORM THE BORDER THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE'S TREAD FLEW OFF CAUSING MY 2000 NISSIAN TRUCK TO VERE IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING SEMI TRUCK. WE AVOIDED THE COLLISION AND REMOVED THE DAMAGED TIRE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT IT HAS HAPPEND. THIS TIME WE WERE MOVING AT A SPEED OF 70 MILES PER HOUR AND THE TREAD CAME BACK ON THE TRUCK, SCRATCHED THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL WITH THE STEEL STICKING OUT, TORE OF THE METAL BAR HOLDING THE FENDER ON, TORE THE FENDER HALF WAY OFF AND DENTED THE UNDERSIDE OFTHE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. ABOUT A MONTH EARLER THE PASSANGER SIDE TIRE DID THE SAME THING. I WAS MOVING AT A LOWER RATE OF SPEED AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED THAT TIME. THE NEXT DAY WE REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A USED ONE FROM A LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND CONTINUED OUR JOURNEY. TWO DAYS LATER ON OUR VACATION I LOST THE REAR PASSANGER TIRE IN THE SAME FASHION. WE AGAIN MADE IT TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A USED TIRE. BY THIS TIME SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME THAT THE FIRESTOEN TIRE WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE REASON THAT THE TREAD COMES OFF. I HAD THE TIRE SHOP REMOVE MY LAST REMAINING FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRE AND REPLACE THE BACK TIRES WITH A MATCHING SET.
VECHILE IS 2000 NISSIAN FRONTIER CREW CAB SE. 10-04 GOT RECALL NOTICE ON FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE FUEL PUMP. TOOK TRUCK IN WAS TOLD NO CRACK OR CORROSION SO WAS TOLD THEY PUT A SEALENT ON IT. PROCEDURE PER RECALL I HAVE. RECALL # IS 04V230000. ON 6-15 TRUCK STOP WORKING IN MAJOR INTERSECTION WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. TRUCK TOWED TO NISSIAN 6-1605 AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THIS PART THAT WAS CRACKED AND HAD LOTS OF CORROSION ON IT, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT SINCE RECALL WAS FOR SEALENT ONLY. NOT ACCEPTABLE. WAS TOLD THAT NEBRASKA IS NOT A SALT STATE SO THE SEALENT WOULD WORK. WHAT THE HECK DO THESE PEOPLE THINK WE USE FOR THE ICE AND SNOW WE HAVE HERE? SORRY. PEOPLE AT MY DEALERSHIP WERE THE BEST. THEY REALLY TRIED TO GO TO BAT FOR ME BUT THEIR HANDS ARE TIED AS WELL. THEY WERE TOLD IT WAS A COMPANY POLICY. I AM REALLY UPSET. I CALLED THE 800 # FOR NISSIAN AND GOT NO WHERE. HELL THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME A A STREET ADDR FOR ME TO SEND A CERTIFIED LETTER TO AND THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHO THE CEO WAS. I GOT SOME WOMEN ON THE PHONE WHO JUST GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND SAID SHE WOULD OPEN A FILE. WHAT EVER THAT MEANS. I BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PART. THEY NEW IT WAS BAD IN THE BEGINING.IT SAYS SO ON THEIR WEBSITE. NEBRASKA A NO SALT STATE. WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE THINK NEBRASKA IS, THE TROPICS? SORRY. I WISH TO ISSUE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. I DO NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS NOR IF THEIR ENGINE STOPS I WOULD HATE FOR A FATLITY TO TAKE PLACE. I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT TO PREVENT THAT MY SELF. CORROSION ON PARKING BRAKE HARDWARE ON BACK WHEELS CAUSED ME TO DRIVE UNKNOWINGLY WITH PARKING BRAKE PARTIALLY ENGAGED. IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGH, AT LOW SPEED ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD, I TAPPED MY BRAKES. THIS CAUSED MY BACK WHEELS TO LOCK AND PROCEEDED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE DO A "DOUGHNUT" ON THE ROAD. THANKFULLY, NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR I COULD HAVE BEEN FATALLY INJURED. *NM
WIPER ARM BROKE, LEAVING ME IN A DOWNPOUR WITH NO WIPERS. I WAS TOWED TO SERVICE, BUT NO DEALER IN THREE STATES HAD THE PART. ALL DEALERS AND THE REGIONAL OFFICE SAID THAT THE PART HAD BEEN ON BACKORDER AND WAS IN DEMAND, LEADING US TO BELIEVE THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND WAS NOT ACTING TO FIX IT. REGIONAL PARTS SUPERVISOR CONFIRMED THIS. AFTER A DAY'S SEARCH, WE FOUND A USED PART (AT HIGHER COST) 100 MILES AWAY.
NO SPECIFIC EVENTS LED TO FAILURE. AT APPROXIMATELY 109,500 THE TRANSMISSION BEGAIN JUMPING OUT OF FIRST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD T BE EXTREMELY AWARE OF THIS WHEN PULLING INO TRAFFIC. AT 110,079 MILES, THE FIRST GEAR FAILED COMPLETELY WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURED ON DEC. 31, 2004. THE SUDDEN JUMPING OUT OF GEAR STARTED ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THAT. AT THE VERY LEAST, NISSAN SHOULD ADVISE ALL OWNERS OF 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION ON NISSAN CREW CAB 4WD UNITS WITH A V-6 ENGINE THAT WHEN THE GEAR BOX JUMPS FROM FIRST TO NEUTRAL POSITION, THAT FIRST GEAR FAILURE IS IMMINATE.*AK
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, ODOMETER AND TEMP GUAGE. THE NEEDLE ON ALL THREE OF THEM OCCASSIONALY DROPS TO 0 AND STAYS THERE FOR AN UNDETERMINED TIME UNTIL THEY SPRING BACK TO LIFE FOR A WHILE. AFTER SOME ON-LINE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY 2000 YEAR MODELS INCLUDING: ALTIMA, SENTRA, FRONTIER, AND PATHFINDER. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING AND ON-GOING PROBLEM.
WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM FAILURE: LAST MONDAY, THE ARM THAT CONNECTS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO THE MOTOR DISCONNECTED. IF THIS HAD HAPPEND ON LAST FRIDAY, DURING A SEVERE DOWNPOUR I WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD. THE DEALER, FREEMAN NISSAN IN SANTA ROSA SAID THAT THEY SELL ONE OF THESE ARMS EVERY TWO TO THREE MONTHS. THE ARM HAS TO BE REPLACED.*AK

MAIN TRANSMISSION ROD (STANDARD) HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 130,000 MILES AND MAIN THROW OUT BEARINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 100,000 MILES. BOTH REPAIRS WERE COSTLY FOR A TRUCK THAT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND ISNT EVEN PAID FOR YET. NISSAN'S HAVE A REPUTATION FOR LASTING FOREVER, BUT I GUESS WE GOT A BAD ONE
(1) SUDDEN, COMPLETE FAILURE OF WINDSHIELD WIPERS, WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN. (2) WIPER LINKAGE SEPARATED CAUSING WIPERS TO SUDDENLY STOP MOVING. (3) FOUND PLASTIC LINK SOCKET END WORN DUE TO CORRODED PIVOT BALL ON CENTER PIVOT ASSEMBLY. REPLACED WITH NEW LINK ARM AND NEW PIVOT ASSEMBLY. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
A VOLUNTARY RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE LAMP SOCKET REPLACEMENT ON TAIL LIGHT. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO VIN ALTHOUGH VEHICLE WAS SHOWING THE SAME FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE TAIL LIGHT FELL OUT OF THE SOCKET. *AK
MY COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO "MFG BULLETIN NUMBER: NTB01038", WHICH IS VERY SPECIFIC IN IDENTIFYING THE "RIGHT HAND EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKING". IF THIS TECHNICAL BULLETIN IS SO SPECIFIC, WOULD THAT IMPLY THAT THERE IS A KNOW DEFECT WITH THE MANIFOLD, AND IF SO, SHOULDN'T THERE BE A RECALL FOR ALL OWNERS SO THE DEFECTIVE MANIFOLD CAN BE REPLACED AT THE MANUFACTURE'S EXPENSE?!?!? IF A NUMBER OF OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PART MALFUNCTION TO THE POINT WHERE THE MANUFACTURER HAD TO PUBLISH A "DETAILED TECHNICAL BULLETIN", I WOULD THINK THAT THIS MALFUNCTION IS MUCH MORE COMMON AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION SO THAT IT COULD BE PUSHED. HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED FORWARD, IT STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD AT A RAPID PACE SO THE DRIVER GOT INTO THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL; UNFORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN BUT INSTEAD MOVED DOWN A HILL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPAIRS WHICH INCLUDED BODY WORK, WINDSHIELD AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,546. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

The contact was unable to register the vehicle with an open recall. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased 7 months ago. The contact stated that upon attempting to register the vehicle and to secure the license plates, the State DMV informed the contact that there was an open recall on the vehicle that needed to be completed prior to the registration. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V230000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact had called several dealers, who advised that the parts were not available and would need to be located. The contact had not been able to drive the vehicle due to the unrepaired recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The contact stated that the vehicle had not experienced a failure.
WHILE DRIVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY FROM THE SECOND TO THE THIRD GEAR. DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. *AK
AT APPROX. 20,000 MILES VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLING/BUMPING NOISE IN LEFT FRONT. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2000 NISSIAN'S AND WOUILD BE REPLACED ONLY WHEN CONSUMER COMPLAINED. DEALER REPLACED LEFT STABILZER BUSHING AND REFUSED TO GIVE A COPY OF W/O SAYING IT "WAS RECORDED IN COMPUTER." AT APROX. 45,000 MILES LEFT STABILIZER BUSHING FAILED AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED BY MECHANIC WHO AGAIN STATED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH NISSIAN. AT 67,000 MILES BOTH STABILIZER BUSHINGS HAVE FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED BY THIRD MECHANIC WHO REAFFIRMED THAT STABILIZER BUSHINGS ON NISSAN'S DID NOT HOLD UP WELL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING MY GAS PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR, THE JAM NUT ON THE THROTTLE CABLE HAD BACKED OFF ALLOWING THE CABLE HOUSING TO DISCONNECT FROM THE BRACKET. THE ENGINE WENT TO IDLE SPEED BUT I HAD NO THROTTLE CONTROL TO MOVE FROM THE FAST LANE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH, AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK'S REAR END. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
UPON HAVING NISSAN DEALER TROUBLESHOOT REASON FOR "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT BEING ON AT 26,800 MILES ON MY 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM EVAP CANISTER HAD "EXPLODED" AND CHARCOAL PELLETS CONTAMINATED THE SYSTEM, REQUIRING TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND EVAP VALVE TO THE TUNE OF $597.00. BEING THAT ITEM IS PART OF EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND REQUIRES ZERO MAINTENANCE BY THE CONSUMER, I WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT THE ITEM WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY.*AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V230000 CONCERNING FUEL SENDING UNIT. HOWEVER, WHEN CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, CONSUMER WAS DENIED. THERE WAS A LISTING OF STATES WHERE THE RECALL WORK WILL BE DONE IN ITS ENTIRETY. THE VEHICLE OWNER WAS FROM OKLAHOMA WHICH WAS NOT LISTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH VEHICLE SLID ON A PILE OF GRAVEL. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, SLIPPED OFF A GUARD RAIL, FLIPPED OVER TWICE, AND COLLIDED INTO AN OPPOSING GUARD RAIL. CONSUMER WAS WEARING SEAT BELTS, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR SCRAPES AND BRUISES TO ARMS, HANDS, AND FACE. MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE - ALL BEARINGS FAILED, GEARS DISCOLORED, COUNTERSHAFT DAMAGED - ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WORN OUT. WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT UPHOLD WARRANTY, NOR WILL NISSAN UPHOLD LEASE WARRANTY.

TREAD SEPERATED ON MY VEHICLE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY,RESULTING IN $4,000.00 OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLE,OVER $3,000.00 IN LOST EARNINGS.AFTER PICKING UP MY TRUCK FROM BODY SHOP,EXACTLY ONE WEEK LATER A SECOND TIRE FROM THE SET (B.F. GOODRICH LONG TRAIL 265/75/R15) EXPLODED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY IT WASNT A SEPERATION ,THE SIDEWALL LITERALLY BLEW OUT AROUND THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFRENCE.
THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON MY 2000 NISSAN TRUCK THE TREAD CAME OFF BUT THE TIRE DID NOT GO FLAT BUT WHEN IT CAME OFF IT BENT UP THE BED ON ONE SIDE. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH BOUND ON I 17 MILE POST 217 THE TRUCK HAS 45000 MILE ON IT AD THE TIRES. *JB
2000 NISSAN CREW CAB PICKUP. BOUGHT IN APRIL, 2003. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE INTRUMENT PANEL HAS STOPPED WORKING. CRUISE CONTROL ALSO DISENGAGES. FIRESTONE TIRE ON DRIVERS SIDE REAR BLEW OUT AND TREAD CAME OFF AND DAMAGED UNDERSIDE OF REAR FENDER. I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON INTERSTATE 75 IN FLORIDA NEAR WHITE SPRINGS EXIT. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 70 AND 75 MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND MY TRUCK BEGAN TO SWAY. I LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO SEE ABOUT A 4' PIECE OF TREAD FLYING THROUGH THE AIR BEHIND ME.*JB
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE BATTERY EXPLODED. THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK *SC THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND INSPECT THE DAMAGE..*JB

CONSUMER STATED DURING A STATE INSPECTION, A BOLT ON THE SWAY BAR WAS FOUND TO BE BROKEN, THE DEALER REPLACED THE STABILIZER CONNECTING ROD AND BUSHING.*JB
THE TIRE TREAD CAME OFF THE TIRE FRONT AND BACK ON DRIVERS SIDE CAUSING ME TO GO OUT OF CONTROL AND DAMAGE TO MY DRIVER 'S SIDE LEAVING ME WITH OUT A VEHICLE FOUR MONTHS. DT
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED ITS MISSOURI STATE INSPECTION DUE TO THE BROKEN FRONT SWAY BAR STABILIZER CONNECTING ROD, NISSAN CHANGED THE DESIGN BY INCREASING THE DIAMETER OF THE BOLT AND INCREASING THE HARDNESS FROM A 5 TO AN 8, YET DENIED ANY PROBLEM TO THE CONSUMER. *SLC
(1). AT HIGHER SPEEDS, MY 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCK'S DASHBOARD DIALS MALFUNCTION. THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY. (2). THE DIALS EITHER DROP TO ZERO -- THE ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER AND TEMPERATURE GUAGES -- AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE NOT RUNNING, OR THEY GET STUCK AT THE SPEED. THEY REMAIN STUCK OR INACTIVE FOR PERIODS OF UP TO 4 HOURS. ALSO, THE DIGITAL MILEAGE DISAPPEARS OR SKEWS SO THAT IT IS NOT READABLE. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY DECELLERATED AS IF IT WERE RESPONDING TO THE DASHBOARD DIALS DROPPING. (3) THE DEALERSHIP -- GUNN NISSAN OF SAN ANTONIO TEXAS -- WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE DEFECT IN FOUR VISITS. ON THE FIFTH VISIT, THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER WAS ABLE TO DETECT THE DEFECT. GUNN ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ATTRIBUTED THE DEFECT TO THE VEHICLES MILEAGE -- NOW 89,000 -- HOWEVER, AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST OCCURENCE THE MILEAGE WAS LESS THAT 50,000. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM GUNN NISSAN. THE PROBLEM WAS NTO DETECTED UNTIL THE WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED. *AK
THE FIRST SEAT BELT FAILED TO RELEASE ABOUT 30% OF THE TIME. AFTER REPLACE NO. 2 ON DEC. 2000 THAT ONE FAILED TO RELEASE ABOUT 15% OF THE TIME UNTIL IT BROKE ON JUNE10 2000. NO. 3 IS NOW ON ORDER. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SENSOR INSIDE THE BELT THAT TURNS ON THE SEAT BELT LIGHT. IT HANGS UP AND YOU CANNOT GET OUT! I HAVE STARTED TO CARRY A KNIFE JUST IN CASE I HAVE TO CUT THE BELT TO GET OUT. THE LONGEST I:VE FOUGHT WITH IT IS 15MIN. ITS NO FUN AND I THINK NISSAN HAS A REAL PROBLEM. I AM REAL SICK OF FIGHTING TO GET OUT OF MY TRUCK. IF THIS ONE FAILS WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THIS FIXED.I KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT LISTEN . I WILL BE IN TOUCH IF THE NO. 3 FAILS.*AK
