PAID $380 TO FIX FUEL SENDING ISSUES. I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH A V6 ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A ON GOING PROBLEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TO CLOSE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL CAN BE DEPRESSED LOWER THAN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS CAN CAUSE YOUR FOOT TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN BRAKING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN BACKING A TRAILER. I ALMOST HIT A TREE WHEN BACKING A UTILITY TRAILER. IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY WHEN LAUNCHING A BOAT. THE TRUCK AND DRIVER COULD END UP IN THE LAKE. I HAD TWO DEALERS TO CHECK THE BRAKES. THEY SAY THIS IS NORMAL. ONE TECHNICIAN THOUGHT NISSAN HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES ON THE FRONTIER NOT JUST MY TRUCK. I COMPLAINED TO NISSAN BUT DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY HELP. *TR
I HAVE A 06 NISSAN FRONTIER. JUST AFTER THE 36K WARRANTY THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WENT OUT. THIS CAUSES THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON NOT TO MENTION THE FUEL GAGE DOESN'T WORK. I PAID 400 TO HAVE THIS UNIT REPLACE. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE A "NEWER PART NUMBER" WHICH PROVES THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS JUST ISN'T FAIR ESPECIALLY THE VEHICLE ON HAD 38K ON IT. ALSO, TAILGATE HINGE PROBLEMS. THE RIGHT SIDE HINGE BREAKS. SOMETHING DEF WRONG WITH HOW IT WAS MADE AS I HAD LOOKED AT SEVERAL FRONTIERS AND 3 OF THEM WERE BROKEN. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT AS WELL. DAMAGES THE TAIL GATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT. *TR
HIT BY A SHERIFF CAR AND WAS FLIPPED 3 TIMES IN A NISSAN FRONTIER NISMO....SUPPOSEDLY WITH FRONT AND SIDE AIR BAGS ALONG WITH ROLL OVER AIR BAGS. NOT ONE DEPLOYED. HAD TO GET CUT OUT OF CAR AND FLOWN INTO TRAUMA ROOM. IN AND OUT OF CONSCIENCE AND NOT FEELING LEGS. NOW SEVERE BACK AND NECK PAIN. SORE ABDOMENS AND LOWER DISC DISEASE. NOTHING DONE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *TR
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAS QUIT WORKING FOR THE SECOND TIME WHICH CAUSES THE FUEL GAUGE TO GIVE FALSE READINGS. NISSAN REPLACED THE UNIT WHEN IT QUIT AT 10000 MILES UNDER WARRANTY BUT, NOW THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE UNIT IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. AFTER TALKING WITH SEVERAL OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE I FOUND OUT WE ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, GOING THROUGH MULTIPLE UNITS. NISSAN DOES SEEM TO BE FIXING THE PROBLEM BUT, JUST COVING IT UP. AFTER TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEY DO NOT WANT TO TRY TO COVER IT, THEY WANT ME TO PAY $400 FOR PARTS AND LABOR WHICH I AM NOT GOING TO DO. BESIDES THE FACT THAT $100 FOR PARTS AND $300 FOR LABOR IS OUTRAGEOUS I AM NOT GOING TO REPLACE THIS PART JUST HAVE IT FAIL AGAIN. THIS PART SHOULD BE ON A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND NOT A PART THAT SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED 2, 3, OR 4 TIMES OR EVEN AT 10000 MILES. NOW MY PROBLEM IS THE TRUCK SEEMS TO BE USING MORE GAS BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE BEEN GOING OFF OF THE MILEAGE BECAUSE I KNOW MY VEHICLE WILL DO A LITTLE OVER 400 MILES ON A TANK OF GAS BUT, IT LEFT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD AT 11:30 AT NIGHT WITH 352 MILES SHOWING. MY GIRLFRIEND ALSO HAS TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK AND I FEAR HER SAFETY WHEN SHE IS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SHE COULD GET STUCK IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD OR IN DALLAS, TX TRAFFIC IT IS NOT EASY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN IT RUNS OUT OF GAS. ALSO, THIS PROBLEM SETS OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE INSPECTION IS OUT. THEY WILL NOT LET THE VEHICLE PASS WITH THIS ON. *TR
2006 NISSAN FRONTIER NISMO'S FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 37,000 MILES, BUT I IGNORED IT BECAUSE I HAD ALLOWED THE WARNING LIGHT TO GO ON AND THOUGHT THAT AFTER A FEW FILL UPS IT WOULD REGISTER CORRECTLY, BUT IT DID NOT LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE ROAD. THE DEALER, ALTHOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE, ASKED FOR OVER $400 TO REPAIR, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE. NOW I HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THE TANK AFTER EVERY 200 -250 MILES FEARING I MAY RUN OUT OF GAS AGAIN. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS AS IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD SUCH AS WHEN I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON THE TURNPIKE. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER IS FAULTY. IT EITHER SHOWS A LOWER LEVEL OF GAS THAN WHAT IS IN THE TANK OR IT SHOWS THE TANK IS COMPLETELY EMPTY. IT ALSO CAUSES THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO APPEAR. THIS STARTED AT ABOUT 38,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ERROR CODE PO463 COMES UP ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR MALFUNCTIONING GAS GAUGE STILL REMAINS AT EMPTY EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS FULL. SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH NISSAN TRUCKS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

I PURCHASED A USED 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB SE THIS APRIL 2008 EVERYTHING WAS RUNNING GREAT UNTIL THIS MONTH OF DECEMBER 23 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF THE BLUE AND MY FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY SO I FILLED IT UP WITH GAS MAYBE IM JUST LOW ON GAS BUT WHEN I FILLED UP MY TANK MY GAUGE DIDN'T GO UP SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC TO FIX THE PROBLEM HE TOLD ME THAT MY FUEL SENSOR IS TRIPPING OUT AND ITS GOING TO COST ME $150 TO DROP THE GAS TANK PLUS THE PRICE OF THE SENSOR WHICH I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH IT COST SO I TOLD MY MECHANIC TO TURN OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND HE TOLD ME TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY IF THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST SO I WENT HOME AND THE NEXT DAY WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK THE CHECK ENGINE WAS GONE AND MY FUEL GAUGE WENT UP ALL THE WAY LIGHTNING FAST SO I WAS VERY HAPPY BUT NOT FOR LONG AFTER 5 DAYS THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN I WAS LOW OF GAS ABOUT 1/4 TANK AND THE LIGHTS WERE ON AGAIN SO ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT SO I RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM AND I FOUND THAT IM NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM THERE'S ALOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT OWN NISSAN VEHICLES THAT ARE NEWER THAT HAS A FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM AND THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND NISSAN SHOULD CONSIDER THIS A RECALL THIS COULD LEAD TO A BIG PROBLEM WHEN YOUR FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR OUT OF GAS AND IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN DEATH ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I HOPE MY COMPLAINT WILL TAKE EFFECT AND TO NOTIFY NISSAN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WE ARE TALKING SAFETY FOR THE CONSUMERS JUST LIKE ME THANK YOU..... *TR
WENT OUT ONE MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND THE FUEL GAUGE READ E. RE-STARTED THE TRUCK AND THE GAUGE WENT TO 3/4 TANK. DROVE TO WORK AND BACK,WENT SHOPPING, THAN RE-FUELED AND THE GAUGE WAS ON E AGAIN . THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AT THIS TIME. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON IT AND THAT MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, TOOK THE TRUCK TO A MECHANIC WHO CLEANED A PART NEAR THE TANK AND CLEARED OUT THE CODES. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. DROVE THE TRUCK THAT WEEK AND RE-FUELED. GAS GAUGE STAYED ON E WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE BACK ON. CALLED DEALER AND THE COST IS AROUND $700. WAITING FOR THE PRICE FROM MY MECHANIC. *TR
2006 NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP - GAS GAUGE IS SLUGGISH TO MOVE UPWARD AFTER A FILLUP. TAKES SEVERAL DAYS TO REGISTER ACCURATE TANK LEVEL. ALSO, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. OCCASIONALLY DROPS TO EMPTY AND EMPTY TANK INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN GRADUALLY MOVES TO CORRECT LEVEL. HAVE HAD IN SHOP SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT SUCCESS. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES ON IT. *TR
AFTER REFUELING, FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. CODE CAN BE RESET, BUT ISSUE RECURS UPON NEXT FILL-UP. *TR
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON THE TRUCK FAILED AT ABOUT 38K MILES. THE GAGE IS SLOW TO RESPOND TO A FILL-UP 30-60 MINUTES TO REGISTER FULL. IT FUNCTIONS NORMALLY UNTIL AROUND HALF A TANK, THEN THE NEEDLE DROPS TO E AND THE EMPTY TANK LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER REFUELING THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS STILL HALF FULL OF FUEL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THE START OF THE PROBLEM. ONLINE BOARDS HAVE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS TRUCK. A CODE SCANNER AT A PARTS STORE ALSO SAID THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. I WILL PROBABLY REPLACE THE PART MYSELF. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 12, 2008, OWNER WAS DRIVING A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THERE WAS A LIGHT RAIN. SUDDENLY, THE STEERING LOOSENED AND THE OWNER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE ROTATED COUNTER CLOCKWISE AND COLLIDED INTO A BRICK COLUMN. BACK IN JANUARY OF 2007, THE STEERING COLUMN OF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. IT HAD BEEN LOOSE AND WOBBLING ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS. OTHER TIMES IT WOULD BE AS STIFF AND SOLID AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. ON 2 OCCASIONS, THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ADVISE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING FOR THEM TO FIX AS THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS UPON TEST DRIVES. THE 3RD TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY 'REPLACED' CERTAIN COMPONENTS AND/OR PARTS OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND SAID THEY WERE 'WORN", ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM AN OCALA FLORIDA NISSAN DEALERSHIP. *TR

FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WILL NOT RESPOND AFTER FILL UP. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CODE REGISTERED IS P0463. INDICATES FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR DEFECTIVE.*TR
VEHICLE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK THE GAUGE WILL SHOW FULL, AND THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. THEN AS THE FUEL IS USED UP THE LIGHT WILL COME ON EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS 3/4 FULL. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN A WASHBOARD PART OF A DIRT ROAD IN ROUTE TO 4WHEEL LIKE I NORMALLY DO AND THE 2006 FRONTIER NISMO CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON OTHER THEN THE SYSTEM BELIEVED IT WAS ROLLING OVER. THIS WAS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AWAY FROM CELL COVERAGE SO NO POLICE REPORT COULD BE MADE. I HAVE NOTICED MANY THREADS OF XTERRAS AND FRONTIERS ONLINE THAT HAVE BEEN GETTING THIS PROBLEM INCLUDING A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF AN XTERRAS DEPLOYING. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AS I DECIDE WEATHER THERE IS A BUILDABLE CASE AGAINST NISSAN OR TO GIVE UP AND TRY FOR REPAIRS SOMEWHERE, THE INSURANCE ESTIMATE IS ~4,000$ USD. BOTH SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS, SEAT DAMAGE, SEATBELTS BROKEN. *TR
MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE DRIVING DOWN A WASHBOARD FARM TYPE ROAD AND RANDOMLY OUR SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WENT OFF ON BOTH SIDES CAUSING SEVERE SOFT TISSUE DAMAGE IN OUR NECKS AND ANXIETY / BEING TERRIFIED OF THE TRUCK. CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO PERSONAL INJURY AND FILED WITH INSURANCE COMPANY. THE AREA WE WERE IN WAS AN AREA WITH NO CELL SERVICE AND QUITE FAR FROM THE NEAREST TOWN AND WITH THE AIRBAGS BREAKING THE SEATBLETS ETC IT WAS A VERY UNSAFE DRIVE. *TR

I LIVE IN SOUTH DAKOTA AND MY WIFE AND 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVE AND RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE, WITH THE WINTER MONTHS COMING AND HOW DANGEROUSLY COLD IT GETS IN SOUTH DAKOTA, THIS COULD BE A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM. THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR ON MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB STOPPED WORKING RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD WAS UP. IT STARTED FLUCTUATING AND GIVING FALSE READINGS, THEN STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. SINCE THE FUEL SENSOR IS TIED TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, I WAS UNABLE TO OBTAIN A SAFETY INSPECTION STICKER UNTIL THE ITEM WAS REPAIRED. TO REPAIR THIS, THE FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REMOVED. THIS COST ME 400 TO FIX. I BELIEVE THE UNIT TO BE DEFECTIVE, AS I HAVE BEEN SEEING MORE CONSUMERS WHO PURCHASED THIS TRUCK LOGGING THE SAME COMPLAINT. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE A FEAR THAT IS THE UNIT IS SHORTING OUT, IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. AFTER ALL, IT SITS ON TOP OF A 20 GALLON FUEL TANK. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED!!! *TR
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER, IT WAS DELIVERED WITH ONLY HALF THE KEYS PROGRAMMED FOR THE VEHICLE, A STRANGE RATTLING OF PLASTIC SHROUDING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND AS I FOUND OUT A FAST SET OF TIRES LATER, THE FRONT END OUT OF ALIGNMENT [ TOO MUCH TOE IN ]. WHEN I READ THE MANUAL I FOUND OUT THAT MY 4WD VEHICLE WAS "NOT INTENDED TO BE USED OFF OF THE ROAD", THIS WAS NOT IN ANY OF THE PRESALES LITERATURE AND THE REASON I BUY 4WD IS SO I CAN USE IT OFF ROAD. AT 100 MILES AFTER WARRANTY I HAD TO TAKE IT IN BECAUSE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAD FAILED, ABOUT A $600 REPAIR ON A PART THAT SHOULD LAST 200,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEIR DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING ABOUT ONE OF THESE A WEEK ON A COUPLE OF MODELS. WHEN I PICKED IT UP I GOT THE TROUBLE LIGHT ON THE WAY HOME, I SCANNED IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS [CODE PO448 ]. I TOOK IT BACK. THE FIRST CANISTER THEY ORDERED SHOWED UP BROKEN [ KIND OF FRAGILE FOR SOMETHING MOUNTED ON THE BOTTOM OF A 4WD ]. PARTS REPLACED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY WERE 14953ZP50C FILTER-CANISTER, 14950-EA20A CANISTER ASSY. E, AND 14935-AM60B VALVE ASSY.-CO. 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER XE 4 CYLINDER MANUAL TRANS. AT APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AFTER FILLING UP, AND READ EMPTY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY. THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY, SOMETIMES READING CORRECTLY WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BUT ALWAYS MALFUNCTIONING AT APPROXIMATELY HALF TANK, CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. THEN IT CEASED TO FUNCTION AT ALL WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINING ON. NISSAN OF SANTA ROSA TOLD ME IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER MY Q CERTIFIED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY 100,000 MILES OR 2 YEARS. NISSAN TOLD ME IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM, AND THE SENSOR INSIDE THE GAS TANK NEEDED REPLACEMENT, AT MY CHARGE. ALSO, I CANNOT HAVE MY EVAP EMISSIONS SYSTEM RECALL WORK PERFORMED UNTIL THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM PROBLEM IS FIXED. AS A RESULT I CANNOT COMPLETE MY VEHICLE REGISTRATION FOR THIS YEAR. MY VEHICLE A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER P/U WITH NISMO OFF ROAD PACKAGE HAS EXPERIENCED A STEERING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LIKE THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED AND SHORTLY AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME REALLY LOOSE SIDE TO SIDE AND UP AND DOWN. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE NUT THAT HOLDS THE STEERING WHEEL IN PLACE WAS LOOSE AND IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM TO FIX. AFTER 2 DAYS I GOT A CALL FROM THE ASST. SERVICE MANAGER STATING THAT THE STEERING RACK AND STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE EXTENDED WARANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. I THEN CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA TO SEE IF THEY COULD ASSIST IN ANY WAY AND WAS INFORMED BY THE SOUTH EAST REPRESENTATIVE THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, A COMPANY INSPECTOR VIEWED THE WINDSHIELD DAMAGE AND DENIED RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEFECTIVE MATERIALS. THEY COULD NOT REPLACE IT AND REFERRED A GLASS COMPANY. THIS IS AN ULTIMATE INSULT TO CONSUMERS WHO ARE DUPED INTO PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR INFERIOR QUALITY MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP IN AMERICA. I WAS RIDING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN A LOUD POP CAME FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, AT THAT TIME THE STEERING WHEEL GOT REALLY LOOSE, FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND UP AND DOWN.I CALLED SUMBELT NISSAN THEY SAID THE BEARING HAD FAILED IN THE COLUMN,EITHER FROM NOT BEING PRESSED IN CORRECTLY OR IT COULD NOT BE THE RIGHT SIZE,THEY SAID TAKE IT EASY AND BRING IT IN TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE IT COULD LOCK UP DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. AT NISSAN THEY REPLACED THE COLUMN,BUT IT CAME FROM THE SAME PERSON WHO MADE THE INCORRECT STEERING BEARING THE FIRST TIME. NISSAN STATED THIS HAD HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE 2005 AND THE 2006 TRUCK MODELS. THIS IS A DIRECT MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE WREAKS AND BODILY HARM AND THEY STILL WONT RECALL THESE TRUCKS. UPON INSPECTION THE WHEEL HAD SPLIT IN HALF AND SOME OF THE LUG BOLTS HAD ACTUALLY SHEARED OFF. THE VEHICLE IS A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP TRUCK WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JANUARY, 2007. IT HAD LESS THAN 17,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD RECEIVED ROUTINE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE SERVICE PERFORMED BY NISSAN DEALERS/SERVICE DEPARTMENTS. THE LAST SERVICE WAS PERFORMED AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES AND INCLUDED TIRE ROTATION. 3. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS CONTACTED, CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION & DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NOT MECHANICAL FAILURE. THEY DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION OF WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE & COULD NOT HAVE HAD TIME TO DO METALLURGICAL TESTS ON THE COMPONENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI, AND THEY WERE ADVISED TO SAVE ALL OLD PARTS. I WAS ABLE TO FIND ONE HALF OF THE SPLIT WHEEL WHICH IS IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER AT THIS TIME. STEERING COLUMN BECAME LOOSE, HAD A LOT OF PLAY IN IT. WE HAD IT CHECKED BY A REPUTABLE AUTO REPAIR SHOP & IT WAS DISCOVERED THE TOP BEARING ON THE STEERING COLUMN WAS BROKEN. THE ENTIRE COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED THEY DEALER TOLD THEM THE BUSHING WHICH BROKE COULD NOT BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRMAN SAID THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY ADJUSTING THE STEERING COLUMN UP & DOWN, HOWEVER THIS COLUMN WAS NOT ADJUSTED SINCE WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK. ONE PERSON DRIVES THE TRUCK, WHICH IS A COMPANY VEHICLE & IS ON THE ROAD ALL DAY 5 DAYS A WEEK. WE WERE CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE TRUCK WITH THE STEERING COLUMN WOBBLING AROUND. *TR
