MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THE FRONT IMPACT SENSOR WAS THE ISSUE, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER A NISSAN CAMPAIGN FOR KNOWN ISSUES. TRUCK WAS INITIALLY PURCHASED IN NY AND DRIVEN ON SALTED ROADS, WHICH WAS THE CAUSE FOR SENSOR FAILURE, HOWEVER I LIVED IN FL AT THE TIME THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE CAMPAIGN WAS 08V690000.
THE 2 COMPLAINTS I HAVE REGARDING MY FRONTIER HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME YR THAT MY FRONTIER IS, BUT I DIDN'T RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE FOR EITHER ONE. FIRST IS THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT, WHICH SHOWS YOU HOW MUCH GAS YOU HAVE IN THE VEHICLE. MY FUEL GAUGE WILL SHOW THAT I HAVE NO GAS EVEN AFTER I FILL UP MY TANK, BUT THEN I CAN PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES & THEN THE GAUGE WILL SHOW THAT I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS. I RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, & THE RESULTS DISPLAYED A CODE THAT MEANT IT NEEDED A NEW SENDING UNIT. HOWEVER, WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, I CANNOT JUST GET THE SENDING UNIT, BECAUSE IT ONLY COMES IN ONE WHOLE PIECE, MEANING THAT THE MECHANICS WILL HAVE TO EMPTY THE GAS TANK & DROP THE TANK, WHICH IS MUCH MORE WORK. THEREFORE, THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME $900.00. THE SECOND COMPLAINT & THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS & DISAPPOINTING ONE IS REGARDING MY TRANSMISSION & RADIATOR. RECENTLY I TOOK MY FRONTIER INTO THE SHOP TO HABE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKED & CHANGED IF IT NEEDED TO BE. HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC CALLED & INFORMED THAT AFTER HOOKING MY TRUCK UP TO A TRANSMISSION TESTER, THE RESULTS INDICATED THAT I HAD PRESSURE PROBLEMS DUE TO THE RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, & CAUSING A CHEMICAL REACTION THAT WILL DESTROY THE CLUTCHES INSIDE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. KEEP IN MIND THAT I ONLY HAVE 80,000 MILES ON MY 2006 FRONTIER, & NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION ALREADY WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS & UNCALLED FOR. ESPECIALLY SINCE NISSAN HAS DONE A RECALL FOR THE SAME YR & MODEL OF MY TRUCK, & FOR THE EXACT THING THAT MY FAULTY RADIATOR WAS DOING. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, MY RADIATOR MODEL WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR EITHER ONE OF THE RECALLS & IT SHOULD'VE BEEN, BECAUSE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAVE HAD, & THAT'S WITH BOTH OF MY COMPLAINTS. SO I JUST SPENT $4,000.00 FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION.
ON 2/2/2019, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION CHECKED, BECAUSE PRIOR TO THIS DATE I WAS EXPERIENCING ALOT OF JERKING AND OTHER ISSUES, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER AAMCO TECHS LOOKED OVER MY TRANSMISSION, I WAS CONTACTED & INFORMED THAT I HAD A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR THAT HAD CONTAMINATED MY TRANSMISSION, DUE TO THE RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO MY TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT NISSAN HAD A LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS VERY PROBLEM, WHICH I WAS IN SHOCK, SINCE NO ONE HAD EVER ADVISED ME THROUGH MAIL, EMAIL, OR EVEN WORD OF MOUTH. MY FRONTIER IS A 2006, BUT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY OF 2007, & ON 2/2/2019, MY FRONTIER ONLY HAD 80,034 MILES ON IT. I'M DISABLED, & I NEED MY VEHICLE FOR DOCTOR APPTS, & FOR MY TWO CHILDREN AS WELL. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART OF IT ALL IS, I TAKE MY FRONTIER TO THE LOCAL NISSAN TO HAVE THEM DO THE OIL CHANGES & TIRE ROTATIONS WHENEVER ITS DUE, & THEY ALWAYS CHECK ALL OF MY FLUIDS AT THE SAME TIME. IN ADDITION, THIS ISSUE AROUSE IN 2006 BEFORE I PURCHASED THE FRONTIER, BUT NOTHING WAS EVER CONVEYED TO ME ABOUT ANY ISSUES WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OR MODEL. SINCE THERE WERE 3-4 MODELS AFFECTED BETWEEN 2005 THRU 2010. I HAD AAMCO REPLACE THE RADIATOR & TRANSMISSION, WHICH COST ME $4,000.00, & MY FRONTIER ONLY HAD 80,000 MILES ON IT, I'VE NEVER HEARD OR EVEN EXPERIENCED SUCH AN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE BEFORE! I EVEN REACHED OUT TO NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE, BUT THEY DID NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $1,500.00, WHICH THEY ARE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT PUT DEFECTIVE RADIATORS INTO THEIR PRODUCTS, BUT DID NOT SEND OUT ANY NOTIFICATIONS ABOUT THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM THAT A OWNER COULD HAVE. MY FAMILY OR MYSELF COULD'VE EASILY BEEN HURT BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN NOT NOTIFYING CONSUMERS/OWNERS. DO THEY NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, OR IS IT JUST ABOUT THE ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR!!
RADIATOR SYSTEM
COOLANT LEAKED FROM RADIATOR INTO TRANSMISSION THROUGH FAULTY COOLING LINES.. RESULT WAS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO HIGHWAY. VERY COSTLY REPAIR BILL ($4600.00). HAD TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND DO A COMPLETE REBUILD OF TRANSMISSION.
FUEL SENDER UNIT FAILED AND CAN NO LONGER ESTABLISH AMOUNT OF FUEL AND NOW AT RISK BEING STRANDED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FRONTIERS
VEHICLE DIES WHILE DRIVING LOOSES ALL ELECTRICAL , SITS FOR FEW HOURS WORKS NORMAL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR CRACKED, WHICH CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RADIATOR COOLANT TO MIX TOGETHER. THE FAILURE EVENTUALLY CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BANISTER NISSAN OF NORFOLK (1250 N MILITARY HWY, NORFOLK, VA 23502) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS AND THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,967.
ON 11/10/2018 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH NO WARNING LIGHT MY 2006 NISSAN STARTS TO LOSE POWER!!! I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND PULL INTO A GAS STATION TO CALL AAA TO TOW IT TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION HAS COOLENT IN IT AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED I BE REBUILT OR REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE COOLENT HOSE THAT WAS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. I NEVER GOT ANY WARNING LIGHT UNTIL AFTER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.
MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE MECHANIC SAID THE RADIATOR LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR COSTED ME $4000, NEW TRANSMISSION AND NEW RADIATOR. WAS CONSIDERING BUYING ANOTHER NISSAN BUT WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE. I WILL BE PROVIDING THE BILL AS SOON AS I CAN SCAN THEM.
I WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED THE TANK UP ALL THE WAY. BEFORE I FILLED IT THE FUEL GAUGE READ SLIGHTLY ABOVE A QUARTER TANK. AFTER I FILLED IT I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE NEEDLE WAS STUCK AT SLIGHTLY ABOVE A QUARTER TANK. SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THE FUEL GAUGE THEN DROPPED TO THE BOTTOM AND TRIGGERED THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR ALONG WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON INDICATOR. OVER 600 COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED AND THIS HAPPENS ON A LOT OF NISSAN CARS SUCH AS THE FRONTIER, XTERRA, PATHFINDER, ETC. THIS IS A ENGINEERING DESIGN ISSUE NOT A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE MOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
APPARENTLY COOLANT MIXED INTO MY TRANSMISSION AND IT IS NOW SLIPPING. AND REPAIR WILL COST $4500.00 OR MORE. I HEARD A SLIGHT CLUNK WHEN DRIVING THEN IT STARTED TO SLIP.
CROSS CONTAMINATION COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION . VEHICLE WILL NOT START. WAS PERFECTLY FINE ONE MONTH AGO WHEN TOOK IT TO NISSAN FOR SERVICE
THE TRANSMISSION IN ONE DAY LOST REVERSE DRIVE AND LEFT ME ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE MOTOR REVING UP.AND DOWN AND DYING WHILE THE TRANSMISSION JUST SPUN ,LEAVING ME TO TOW IT TO THE NEAREST TRANSMISSION SHOP, THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE FREEWAY MOVING AT ABOUT 5 MPH WITH TOOK THE MOTOR ABOUT 3 OR 4 THOUSAND RPM TO MOVE BECAUSE THE GEARS WERE GONE AND APPARENTLY FROM A AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION COOLER THAT MINE NEEDED
HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED AND STOPPED IN MID-TRAFFIC RESULTING MULTIPLE SYSTEM LOSS; INCLUDING POWER STEERING. WARNING LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATED WERE SERVICE ENGINE SOON AND, SLIP. RESEARCHING THIS COMBINATION WITH THE ASSOCIATED ENGINE FAILURE SHOWS A MINIMUM FAILURE OF THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR AND POSSIBLE INTERFERENCE WITH ENGINE COOLING. ADDITIONAL RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS A RECALL ISSUE FOR FRONTIERS. BUT, WHEN I ENTERED MY VIN INTO YOUR SYSTEM TO CHECK RECALLS, THE REPONSE IS THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE. THAT SEEMS IN CONFLICT WITH WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT THERE BEING A RECALL AND THE OBVIOUS EXTREME DANGER OF ENGINE AND SYSTEM FAILURES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER AND AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FOUND THE ARTICLE ABOUT SEVERAL RECALLS FOR 2005-2010 MODELS. THE PERSONS INVOLVED REPORTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS WE ARE EXPERIENCING SUCH AS TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING INTO THE RADIATOR COOLANT SPONTANEOUSLY AND NOW TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE TOWING A POP UP CAMPER THAT IS 3200 LBS WHICH IS WITHIN THE TOWING RANGE REPORTEDLYFOR THIS VEHICLE. I GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY REPORT THEY WILL ONLY COVER UP TO $1900 AND MY MECHANIC STATES THE TOTAL COSTS ARE $4800. I AM VERY CONCERNED MY VEHICLE IS DOING THE SAME. CAN ANYONE HELP US?
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO OVERDRIVE. AROUND 40-45MPH SHUDDER CAN BE FELT FROM TRANSMISSION VIBRATION. HAD THE DRIVESHAFT REPLACED ($1400) BUT THE SHUDDER IS STILL PRESENT.
DEAR NISSAN SERVICE: I AM THE OWNER OF A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER SE WITH APPROXIMATELY 124,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED FROM NALLEY NISSAN IN 2012 WITH APPROXIMATELY 89,000 MILES ON IT. THE HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE WAS METICULOUS, MINUS THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD BEEN REPLACED BY NALLEY NISSAN. IN FEBRUARY 04, 2016 I HAD THE LEFT CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AT NALLEY NISSAN. THE RIGHT CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD BOTH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REPLACED. ON MAY 11, 2018 I WAS ADVISED THAT I NEED BOTH OF MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS REPLACED AGAIN AT STONE MOUNTAIN NISSAN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD CAME ON AGAIINHOWEVER, BOTH OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS IN NOT AN INEXPENSIVE REPAIR. I ONLY USED PREMIUM GASOLINE IN MY VEHICLE TO ENSURE ITS PROPER PERFORMANCE AND GET MY VEHICLE REGULARLY MAINTAINED AN NISSAN DEALERSHIPS. IT IS RATHER OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON WITH MY VEHICLE THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN NATURE. I HAD READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEMS WITH NISSAN FRONTIERS AND NISSAN ALTIMAS. I DO NOT WANT TO GET THE CATALYTIC CONVERTS REPLACED AT ESTIMATED $2200 AND HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESURFACE AGAIN. IN GEORGIA, WE HAVE ANNUAL EMISSIONS TESTS AND MY VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS AN EMISSIONS TEST. JUST RECENTLY, I HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE ON A SHORT TRIP TO NORTH GEORGIA. THE ENGINE STALLED AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME HOWEVER, IT IS RATHER EVIDENT THAT SOMETHING IS MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND JUST SIMPLY REPLACING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WILL NOT ENSURE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING TRUCK ON HIGHWAY IT OCCASIONALLY FELT LIKE I WAS DRIVING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS.
THE EVIDENCE OF ENGINE AND POWER TRANSFER EVIDENTLY PROGRESSED OVER OF DAYS AND REGRESSED WITHIN A MATTER OF HOURS, THEN MINUTES TO THE POINT WHERE ENGINE WOULD BARELY START AND OBVIOUSLY BARELY PROPEL THE TRUCK OVER 10 MPH W/ENGINE DYING OUT REGARDLESS OF THROTTLE OR AUTOMATIC SHIFT POSITION. I LIMPED THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST RESPECTED AND QUALIFIED TECH BOB WELLS -TOTAL CAR CARE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME NISSAN'S LACK OF "DUE DILIGENCE" LEFT CUSTOMER DOWN, ALL WITHIN A YEAR OR SO. A FRUSTRATING,TIME CONSUMING,AND COSTLY EXPERIENCE.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE MY TRUCK WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND AND I HIT A MEDIAN GUARDRAIL AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR. MY AIR BAG PARTIALLY DEPLOYED. IT NEVER HIT ME AND ONLY INFLATED PARTIALLY AND BURNED MY LEFT ARM. MY SEATBELT SAVED MY LIFE.
I HAVE A APPARENTLY COMMON PROBLEM WHICH IS RADIATOR TRANSMISSION CROSS CONTAMINATION APPARENTLY WITH NISSAN FRONTIERS AND XTERRAS FROM ABOUT 05-2010 AND THE PROBLEM IS THEY USED A RADIATOR WITH A BUILT IN TRANSMISSION COOLER BUT THERE'S A SEAL OR AREA WHERE IT FAILS AND THE TWO FLUIDS MIX RESULTING IN A STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE APPEARANCE AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION WILL LIKELY FAIL AT ANY POINT I'VE PERSONALLY HAD PROBLEMS THAT WERE INTERMITTENT OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS WITH TROUBLE SHIFTING AND A SHUDDERING/RUMBLING WHICH OCCURS WHILE DRIVING IN ALL WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS PLUS IS VERY NOTICEABLE WHILE GOING FROM A STOP TO START MOVING TURNS OUT TO BE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION MY TRUCK HAS 99,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS JUST NOW WHICH ACCORDING TO OTHER ACCOUNTS ON MULTIPLE FORUMS ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM IS A LITTLE LATER THAN MOST BUT I HAVE A SHORT COMMUTE TO WORK AND HAVE ANOTHER CAR I USE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V690000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,376.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER (REED NISSAN, 3776 W COLONIAL DR, ORLANDO, FL 32808) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 193,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while refueling, the fuel top-off clicked however, moments later fuel started spilling out of the filler neck onto the ground. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000.

RADIATOR/COOLANT HAS MIXED INTO TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
BOUGHT A 2006 FRONTIER A YEAR AGO, I WAS UNAWARE OF THE MAJOR DEFECT THEY WERE HAVING WITH THE RADIATOR CRACKING AND MIXING COOLANT WITH TRANNY FLUID. NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS SHOT WITH NO WARNING AND I'LL BE OUT 4/5K !! IT WENT OUT AS I WAS TRYING TO TURN LEFT AND ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS COMING AT ME. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AS OBVIOUSLY WITHOUT A TRANSMISSION YOUR CAR WONT GO INTO GEAR, JUST A SITTING DUCK WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BARING DOWN. THANKFULLY THE PEOPLE SPEEDING TOWARDS ME SEEN ME BEFORE I WAS SMASHED INTO AND POSSIBLY KILLED.
TRANSMISSION TCM FRIED BY COOLANT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK HOME. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID SPILLED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE RADIATOR FLUID CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION AND FLUID, WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
HAVING MAJOR ISSUES. NOTICED A RECALL BUT IT WAS ALREADY SETTLED. WHAT CAN I DO? RADIATOR AFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION.
THE FUEL SENSOR IS NOT RELAYING ACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. WHEN VEHICLE IS NEAR EMPTY TANK THE TANK FUEL GAUGE WILL OFTEN STILL READ 1/4 TANK LEVEL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON WHICH CODES ALERTED ON DIAGNOSTICS RELAY BACK TO THE SENSOR ISSUE. THE PROBLEMS IS NOW WORSENING WHERE EVEN AT FULL TANK THE GAUGE WILL SOMETIMES INDICATE EMPTY WITH FUEL ALERT LIGHT ON AND TANK JUST TOPPED OFF. THE IMPROPER FUEL INDICATION HAS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF FUEL SEVERAL MILES FROM A GAS STATION WHILE STILL SHOWING 1/4 TANK LEVEL. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AS BEING STRANDED IN NC IN PEAK OF SUMMER TEMPS OUTSIDE CAN REACH OVER 100 DEGREES. FURTHERMORE STALLING OUT FOR LACK OF FUEL IN BUSY CITY TRAFFIC OR SHARP TURN ON HIGHWAY AT 60-70 MHP CAN LEAD TO A VERY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSED BY LEAKING FLUID COOLER IN RADIATOR AT 114000 MILES. 8000 DOLLAR REPAIR ESTIMATE IS OVER TRADE IN COST OF VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED TRUCK TO STALL ON FREEWAY, ENDANGERING OCCUPANTS.

2006 NISSAN FRONTIER - A DEFECT THAT PERMITS CROSS-CONTAMINATION OF ENGINE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID, ULTIMATELY CAUSING THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION TO NEED SUBSTANTIAL REPAIRS OR FAIL ENTIRELY. THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT DOWNSHIFT - IT FELT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO NEUTRAL.
THE TRANSMISSION LINE THAT RUNS THROUGH THE RADIATOR BROKE IN HALF , THE COOLING WAS PUSHED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS PUSHED INTO THE RADIATOR,, THE RADIATOR, RADIATOR HOSES ,TRANSMISSION LINES , THREATS, HEAT CORE, WATER PUMP, AND READ TO TANK , NOW HAD OIL AND COOLING IN THEM , D-PATRICK OF EVANSVILLE INDIANA HAD RAN A 15 POINT INSPECTION ON THIS TRUCK , THEY SAID THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AND THE TRANSMISSION OIL WAS DISCOLORED, THEY KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOME THING WRONG WITH THIS TRIF I.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR HOSES, AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
WHEN I DRIVE ON HIGHWAY, MY 2006 FRONTIER IS SHAKING OR VIBRATING EVEN IF I COMPLETELY STOP, I HAVE 118,000 MILEAGE. I WENT TO MY DEALER AND CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG, CHANGE THE VALVE GASKET COVER, AND DO OIL CHANGE BECAUSE THE SERVICE ENGINE WENT ON. I DID FINISHED THE SERVICE, MY SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED MY PHONE AND HE SAID THAT MY TRUCK IS READY FOR PICK UP. I ARRIVED, WENT TO THE CASHIER I PAID $748 FOR THE SERVICE, GOT MY TRUCK. THEN I DROVE AFTER A MUNITE THE SHAKING ISSUE IS STILL THIER SO I CALLED MY ADVISOR, HE ADVISED ME TO BRING BACK AND DO DIAGNOS TEST FOR $150. AFTER THE DIAGNOSE TEST THEY SAID THEY FOUND MISSING ACCELARATION AND NEED TO REPLACE 4 IGNITION COIL FOR $1114.00 PARTS/LABOR. UNFORTUNATELY I PAID $749 FOR THE RECENT REPAIR, SO, BECAUSE I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE FIRST REPAIR, HE ONLY WANT ME DO 2 IGNITION COIL REPLACED FOR $775 PARTS/LABOR
I JUST HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION DUE TO A RECALL. OIL AND WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. I DID NOT OWN THE TRUCK AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL.. HOW CAN I GET REIMBURSED ??? THIS IS TERRIBLE!!
FUEL GAUGE IS FAULTY AND TRIGGERS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, CAUSING IT TO FAIL INSPECTION AND GREATLY INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF THE TRUCK RUNNING OUT OF GAS. IN FEBRUARY, 2017, THE RADIATOR ON MY NISSAN FRONTIER FAILED. DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW, COOLANT GOT INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH RUINED IT. THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE (APPROXIMATELY $6K). THE RADIATOR FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP TO A SERVICE STATION. FORTUNATELY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR ON THE ROAD BUT COULD HAVE CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 1V0517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,172.

IN ADDITION, WHILE REFUELING THE FUEL WOULD SOMETIMES BACK OUT OF THE FILLER HOLE WHEN STREAMING FUEL AT A STEADY PACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
NISSAN TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACED, NISSAN HAS NOT PUBLISHED TSB'S ABOUT THE ISSUE. COSTS ARE 4000 BY NISSAN. BOUGHT TRUCK USED. IF NISSAN HAS NOT PUBLISHED ANY TSBS, WHY SHOULD A CONSUMER HAVE TO SHELL OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR BEING PRESSED AND THEN BEGAN JERKING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID IS WAS THE RADIATOR LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND DESTROYING THE TRANSMISSION WHICH NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE DEFCT BUT HAS CHOSEN NOT TO FIX. IF I WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE TRUCK DID NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR AND STARTED TO JERK A COLLISION WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. THE FACT THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND CHOSE NOT TO INFORM ME OF THE PROBLEM CAUSES CONSIDERABLE ALARM.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD A NISSAN DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE AS A "FUEL LEVEL SENSOR " IS BAD. THAT THEY STATED IT'S NOT COVER UNDER ANY WARRANTIES, WHICH THIS PART HAS BEEN RECALLED IN THE PAST. NISSAN SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALLS TO INCORPORATE MORE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
