TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO RADIATOR LEAKAGE INTO TRANSMISSION FLUID. JUST OUT OF WARRANTY! NISSAN CLAIMS POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER SINCE IT IS A RADIATOR PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES THE FAILURE. ----- LEAKING COOLANT CAUSES TRANSMISSION FAILURE AN ALARMING NUMBER OF NISSAN XTERRA, PATHFINDER AND FRONTIER OWNERS ARE STEPPING FORWARD WITH STORIES ABOUT HOW CRACKED RADIATORS ARE CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. ONCE MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID THIS LETHAL COMBINATION KILLS THE VALVES, SEALS AND TORQUE CONVERTER -- RENDERING YOUR ENTIRE TRANSMISSION USELESS. THIS ISSUE IS CURRENTLY CONTAINED TO THE 2005'2010 MODEL YEARS. SOME ARTICLES ONLINE CLAIM THAT BEING AWARE OF THE PROPER WARNING SIGNS MAY HELP PREVENT YOUR NISSAN FROM NEEDING A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THESE WARNING SIGNS ARE: HEAVY VIBRATION WHILE SHIFTING HEAVY VIBRATION WHILE ACCELERATING ABRUPT STALLING SHUDDERING NOISES CAR DOESN'T WARM UP WHEN SITTING OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR RADIATOR CRACK ARE CLAIMING THAT EVEN IF YOU CATCH IT EARLY, YOUR TRANSMISSION IS STILL DOOMED TROUBLE DUE TO THIS ENGINEERING / MANUFACTURING DEFECT. FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES ON. SOMETIMES THE GAUGE WILL GO SLOWLY BACK TO NORMAL POSITION THEN ENGINE CHECK LIGHT GOES OFF. *TR
AFTER READING ABOUT PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND AN INVESTIGATION PERFORMED BY NHTSA I THINK THE TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING FLUID INTO THE RADIATOR. WHAT WAS THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR INVESTIGATION? *TR
AS I WAS PARKED AT A SERVICE STATION, I PUT MY TRUCK INTO REVERSE AND IT WAS THE SAME AS NEUTRAL AND NEVER ENGAGED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON, BUT NOT NECESSARY, ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON THE NISSAN FRONTIER. I ALMOST BLEW UP MY ENGINE LAST YEAR WHEN THE RADIATOR CRACKED AND ALLOWED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX WITH THE COOLANT AND CAUSED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE TO GO WAY UP. THIS MIXTURE MADE ITS WAY TO THE TRANSMISSION AND HAS CAUSED IRREPARABLE DAMAGE; UNDOUBTEDLY, THIS IS WHY I NO LONGER HAVE REVERSE. I REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHED MY TRANSMISSION FLUID THREE TIMES LAST YEAR AND THOUGHT I MAY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. EVIDENTIALLY, THE DAMAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY WELL KNOWN TO NISSAN AND, AS A NISSAN FRONTIER OWNER, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED REGARDING THIS POSSIBLE ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THAT NISSAN HAS AGREED TO SETTLE WITH OWNERS WITHIN A CERTAIN MILEAGE RANGE; HOWEVER, MY TRUCK IS ONLY 5.5 YEARS OLD AND EXCEEDS THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT BECAUSE MY OCCUPATION REQUIRES ALOT OF HIGHWAY TIME WHICH HAS PUT ALOT OF MILES ON IT. I FEEL NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH ALL OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY. I PARKED MY TRUCK AND LATER TRIED TO START IT AND IT WOULDN'T. HAD IT TOWED TO ONE REPAIR SHOP ($45.00 PLUS $75.00 TO THE REPAIR SHOP) AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A TRANSMISSION MECHANIC. SO I HAD IT TOWED THERE ($45.00) AND HE SAID THAT RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I'VE HAD THE TRUCK ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE ESTIMATE ON REPAIRS IS $3,500. I AM WRITING THIS ON MAY 9, 2013. ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER EXPERIENCED SLOW ACCELERATION. I PUT IT IN 1ST AND DROVE SLOWLY FOR 1/4 MILE THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I TURNED ON IGNITION, GEAR SHIFT WAS LOCKED. I UNLOCKED MANUALLY AND TRIED TO START. NOTHING. ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK. NO LIGHTS ON DASH. I TOWED IT MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO TRIED SOME ELECTRICAL WORK. NOTHING SO HE THOUGHT A TRANNY FAILURE PUT TRUCK IN FAILSAFE. AAMCO COULD NOT START IT SO THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. TOWED IT TO NISSAN. THEY WANTED TO CHANGE TRANNY FOR $8000 NEW OR $5000 USED. TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A VEHICLE W/ 110000 MILES. I TOWED IT OUT TO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION PLACE AND THEY FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER! THEY CHANGED THE STARTER, NOTHING DOING. OF COURSE JUMP START IS NOT WORKING SO ITS NOT THE BATTERY. IM NOW STUCK. PREVIOUSLY TRUCK HAD STALLED ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60000 MILES AND WOULD ONLY DRIVE ON GEAR #1. TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH TRANNY BUT THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. LATER AT ABOUT 101K THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND NISSAN FOUND THAT THE ANTIFREEZE HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THEY WANTED TO GIVE ME $2500 TOWARD A $7300 REPAIR. THEY ALSO OFFERED TO GIVE ME EMPLOYEE PRICING ON A NEW FRONTIER BUT I DONT WANT ANOTHER FRONTIER, SO I REFUSED AND INSTEAD TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE PUT IN A NEW RADIATOR AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION. EARLIER AT ABOUT 46000 MILES, THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND THE FUEL SENDER WAS CHANGED. NISSAN REFUSED TO HELP AT THAT TIME BUT LATER INITIATED A RECALL AND COMPENSATED ME FOR THE EXPENSE. ITS BEEN ALL PAIN WITH THIS TRUCK WHICH I BOUGHT "NEW" FROM A DEALER WITH ONLY 300 MILES ON IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION ERRONEOUSLY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT RADIATOR FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURE REGARDING THE RADIATOR LEAK AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. UPDATED 01/09/14*LJ
VEHICLE BEGAN RUNNING POORLY AND STUTTERING BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS. KNEW ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR FLUID TO MIX AND DESTROY THE ENGINE FROM THE LAWSUIT THAT WAS FILED AND CORRESPONDENCE WE HAD RECEIVED FROM NISSAN. SURE ENOUGH, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT CAR SHOP AND BOTH DIAGNOSED THE SAME THING - RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS MIXING. NO OPTION BUT TO GET IT REPAIRED FOR A WHOPPING $4,409.26. IT IS DISGRACEFUL THAT NISSAN WILL NOT FORMALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DEFECT AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR BILL NO MATTER WHAT YOUR MILEAGE. THIS WAS OUR FIRST AND LAST NISSAN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE TANK UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. *TR
MY FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, WHICH HAS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO STAY ON CONSTANTLY. WHEN I FILL UP WITH FUEL, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SOMETIMES MOVE UP TO FULL, BUT ONLY AFTER A FEW STARTS OF THE ENGINE. HOWEVER, IT WILL FALL BACK DOWN TO EMPTY AFTER ONLY DRIVING A FEW MILES OR SO. I REALLY NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE UNLESS I GO BACK TO FILL IT UP JUST TO BE SAFE. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE TODAY AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A MASSIVE AND VERY WIDESPREAD FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE TYPE. I NOTIFIED NISSAN TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF INCIDENTS I HAVE FOUND FROM MY RESEARCH DEALING WITH THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE. THE NISSAN AGENT ADVISED ME TO GO TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP GARAGE AND ASK FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. SHE SAID TO CALL HER BACK OR HAVE A MECHANIC REP. CALL TO ADVISE WHAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK REVEALED. SHE STATED NISSAN MAY BE ABLE TO HELP WITH SOME FINANCIAL AIDE. I TRULY APPRECIATE THE GESTURE, BUT THAT DOES NOT FIX THE FACT THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE COMPLETELY COVERED BY A MANUFACTURER RECALL. YESTERDAY I RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO COAST TWO LANES OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. HOWEVER, THE PORTION I WAS IN WAS VERY NARROW AND DID NOT OFFER AMPLE ROOM TO POUR THE GAS IN THE TANK THAT A FRIEND BROUGHT ME AN HOUR AFTER I RAN OUT OF GAS. A POLICE OFFICER KINDLY STOPPED TO ASSIST WITH THE VERY DANGEROUS MISSION OF TRYING TO GET THE GAS IN THE VEHICLE STANDING ONLY INCHES FROM THE TRAFFIC AS IT RUSHED BY AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS. TO MAKE A LONG STORY A LITTLE SHORTER, THERE WAS AN INCIDENT INVOLVING TWO TRACTOR TRAILERS AND TWO CARS. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. INCLUDING THE OFFICER, MY FRIEND, AND MYSELF, WHO WERE STANDING ONLY FEET FROM WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THANK GOD! *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE OF THE RADIATOR LEAKING FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. NISSAN WAS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT WHERE THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 80,000 MILES BUT I WAS 2,000 MILES OVER, SO INSTEAD OF THEM FIXING IT FOR FREE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $2,500 DEDUCTIBLE. I DO NOT HAVE $2,500 TO SPEND ON SOMETHING THAT IS A KNOWN ISSUE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANY RECOURSE FOR THIS SITUATION. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD WHINING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,188 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,350. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 94 GOING HOME FROM MY CLASS. THE ROAD WAS SLIGHTLY WET FROM SNOW PRIOR IN THE DAY. I WAS GOING ABOUT 60MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE FELT AS IF MY BACK TIRES WERE SPINNING OR MAKING LIKE A QUICK SLIP. IT CONTINUED DOING THIS SO I SLOWED DOWN TO 45MPH. WAS STILL HAPPENING REPEATEDLY. OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS IT CONTINUED, I WAS THINKING I MIGHT NEED NEW TIRES, EVEN THOUGH THE ONES I HAD ON THE TRUCK SEVERAL PEOPLE SAID THEY WERE FINE. WHEN THE WEATHER WARMED UP AND WE NO LONGER HAS SNOW I DIDN'T NOTICE THE "QUICK SPIN OF MY TIRES" ISSUE AS MUCH. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 AND STILL AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S A VERY SCARY FEELING, YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOUR GOING TO HAVE YOUR TIRES SPIN QUICKLY LIKE THAT AND GO INTO A FULL SPIN AND ROLL. ALSO YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN, IT JUST DOES IT WHEN IT WANTS TO. *TR
TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE WHEN SHIFTING INTO OVER-DRIVE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID INSIDE RADIATOR. NISSAN HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 100K MILES AND NO WARRANTY OVER 100K (NEEDS RECALL). NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE THAT ALLOWS FLUIDS TO MIX AND CREATE A PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS SUCH HIGH DEMAND ON THE TRANSMISSIONS THAT THEY ARE ON BACKORDER FOR A MONTH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND ALLOWED COOLANT TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR WOULD POSSIBLY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT BUT FIRST, A DIAGNOSTIC WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,000. *TR
AFTER I FILLED UP ON 2/28/13, THE GAS GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I LOOKED UP ON LINE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSANS OF THIS MILEAGE. THE UNIT THAT CONTROLS THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
GAS GAUGE QUIT WORKING, MAKING POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED ON THE ROAD. AFTER FILLING THE TANK, THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS SAME AS BEFORE, THEN AFTER A WHILE, THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON, THEN AFTER A WHILE IT SHOWS SOME GAS IN THE TANK (MAYBE A LITTLE OVER HALF), THEN A WHILE LATER IT GOES UP TO ALMOST FULL. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, NISSAN NEEDS A RECALL TO FIX THIS! *TR
FILLED GAS TANK GAUGE DID NOT READ FULL , THEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BROUGHT TO MY MECHANIC STATED FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED THE PROBLEM COST APP.700.00. *TR
NISSAN EXTENDED A LIMITED WARRANTY FOR A FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT WHICH DISPLAYS INCORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL. MY NISSAN HAS PASSED THE YEAR OF EXTENDED WARRANTY NOT THE MILES. SO NISSAN FAILED MY "HARDSHIP REQUEST" THAT THEY SENT MY CASE THROUGH. THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, NISSAN'S DECISION WAS TO DENY MY FIX. I DON'T SEE HOW I CAN REPORT A PROBLEM IF IT HAS NOT OCCURRED. THE NISSAN OFFICIAL TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE THAT I HAD NOT SPENT ENOUGH MONEY AT THE DEALER SHIP/HAS NOT HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED THERE ENOUGH THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS THERE TIMES BEFORE AND I HAD MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT ANOTHER QUALIFIED SERVICE CENTER. *TR
AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES, I STARTED NOTICING THAT ON TAKE-OFF AND AT ABOUT 40 MPH, MY FRONTIER WOULD STRUGGLE TO TAKEOFF OR ACCELERATE. WHEN SLOWING DOWN, IF ACCELERATION WAS NEEDED, THE RPMS REV UP, BUT THE TRUCK DOES NOT ACCELERATE. AT 40-45 MPH TRANSITION, GOING UPHILL, THE TRUCK STUTTERS LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO ENGAGE. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HAVING A SLEW OF ISSUES RELATED TO TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER LEAKS. I MOVED TO DRAIN THE FLUID SO THAT I COULD INSPECT THE COLOR AND COMPOSITION. IT WAS FINE. I REPLACED THE FILTER AND FLUID. LET IT BREAK IN FOR A BIT AND HAD SAME PROBLEMS. I HAD 2 DIFFERENT LUBE SHOPS REPLACE THE FLUID AND FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. I CALLED UP THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD COST 6800 + LABOR. HE SAID IT WAS VERY LIKELY THE FLUID ISSUE, BUT I WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT FROM THE TIME THEY RELEASED THESE VEHICLES TO THE PUBLIC. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE NEED OF ACCELERATION AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, TRAIN CROSSING AND MANY OTHERS. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN FOR FLUID CHANGES SINCE THE CAR WAS NEARLY AT THE 100,000 MILE MARK. THEY EXPLAINED THE RADIATOR HAD FAILED AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO BE CONTAMINATED. THIS CAR WAS BROUGHT IN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS AND THEY NEVER DISCLOSED THAT THIS KNOWN PROBLEM CAN RUIN A TRANSMISSION. I PAID 3000.00 TO HAVE THE CAR FIXED BECAUSE I WAS IN THE 80-100,000 K MILE RANGE. THIS CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT IS A BAD DEAL FOR NISSAN CONSUMERS. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN. I WOULD HAVE GLADLY PAID 600.00 TO HAVE THE RADIATOR REPLACED. ITS A GOOD THING THIS HAPPENED WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE NEITHER OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE ALSO REQUIRED REPLACING. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO DISCONNECT THE ABS SYSTEM UNTIL THE REPAIR COULD BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

FRONT CRASH ZONE SENSOR "CSZ" THE RED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE TO ALERT THE VEHICLE OPERATOR. MY DAUGHTER HAD LOOKED UP OUR TRUCK ON LINE & FOUND THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THESE AIRBAGS SENSORS FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES. WE EVEN HAVE THE RECALL LETTER & STILL THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING. TROUBLE LIGHT CAME ON, "VEHICLE NEEDS SERVICE SOON". ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO GARAGE AND ENGINE WOULD NOT START. SHOP INDICATE THAT THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULE FUSES HAD BLOWN. NISSAN DEALER SAID THAT TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULES NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HE IS UNABLE TO START THE ENGINE AND INDICATES THAT THERE MAY BE NECESSARY TO DO OTHER REPAIRS. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS AT THIS POINT IS $8500. *TR

AS I AM DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT AT 40 MPH. I PULL OVER AND FIND OUT THAT IT WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE, EITHER. I DRIVE OVER TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND FIND OUT THAT THE PART OF THE RADIATOR THAT CONNECTS TO THE TRANNY HAS CRACKED AND DUMPED ALL OF THE RADIATOR FLUID INTO THE TRANNY, KILLING IT. I NEED A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. NISSAN IS COVERING THE COSTS (FOR REPAIRS BUT NOT ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION FOR THE WEEK THAT IT IS TAKING TO FIX THIS) BUT UPON RETURNING HOME AND LOOKING ONLINE, I FOUND OUT THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS AND INSTEAD OF DOING A RECALL (COSTING LOTS OF MONEY), THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY FROM 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES TO 8 YEARS/96,000 MILES HOPING THAT PROBLEMS WILL OCCUR AFTER THAT TIME AND THEN THEY ARE OFF THE HOOK FOR REPAIRS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN OVERDRIVE AND THE TRUCK CAME OUT OF GEAR AND THE ENGINE REVVED HIGH IN RPMS. I HAD TO TURN OVERDRIVE OFF TO GET THE TRUCK TO DRIVE IN 4TH GEAR. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY EXPLAINED COOLANT FROM THE RADIATOR HAD GOTTEN INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THEY EXCHANGE THE FLUID BUT EXPLAINED THE TRANSMISSION MAY NEED TO BE REBUILT IF A LOT OF DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR A WEEK MORE SHIFTING NORMALLY. I CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT AFTER A WEEK AND WHEN PRESSING THE GAS THE TRUCK WOULD BARELY CREEP FORWARD THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD NOT CRANK BACK UP AND IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE TRANSMISSION SHOP WAITING FOR PARTS BECAUSE OF A SHORTAGE OF NEEDED PARTS DUE TO THE PERVASIVENESS OF THIS ISSUE. *TR

THEY HAVE DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE SO THEY SURELY HEARD THIS ENGINE WHINE. THEY EVEN HAVE A BULLETIN OUT FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS "DEFECT". THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER SHOE IS TOO SOFT & IS WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. THIS JOB WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1200 & I AM CURRENTLY HAVING THE REPAIRS MADE. HUSBAND TRAVELING ON NORTHWEST EXPRESSWAY IN OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. STOPPED AT THE LIGHT IN MIDST OF 6 LANES OF FIVE O'CLOCK TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE QUIT. HE COULD NOT RE-START IT OR SAFELY GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. HE USED HIS CELL PHONE TO CALL FARMERS' HELP POINT TOWING COMPANY. THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, WE HAD IT TOWED HOME. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE AND BOUGHT JUMPER CABLES. THIS DID NOT FIX IT. WE CALLED OUR NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC AND HAD IT TOWED TO THEIR SHOP. HE LET US KNOW IT WAS THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY AND THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. HE GAVE MY HUSBAND A FUSE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THEM WITHOUT USING ANOTHER TOWING SERVICE. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AFTER SEEING THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO NISSAN (SEE NISSANASSIST.COM). THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE AND SAID WE HAD NO WARRANTY HELP BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER 100K. THEY TOLD US TO CALL THE NISSAN CONSUMER SERVICE AND GAVE US THEIR NUMBER. I CALLED THEM AND THEY COULD NOT HELP--EVEN WHEN I TALKED TO THE SUPERVISOR. SHE TOLD ME SHE IS A CONTRACTOR WORKING FOR A COMPANY HIRED BY NISSAN AND DID NOT KNOW. OF COURSE, WE DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO NISSAN TO BE REPAIRED, BUT TOOK IT TO AAMCO TRANSMISSION, WHO CHARGED US $5,700.00 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WARRANTY ON THE WORK. WITH THE BATTERY, JUMPER CABLES, TOWING CHARGES AND THE FIRST MECHANICS' BILL--WE PAID $6,340.00--HAVING TO BORROW $6K TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. BY THE TIME WE ARE FINISHED PAYING OFF THIS LOAN, THE COST WILL BE CLOSER TO $10,000.00. STARTED NEW ESCALATION TODAY. I HAVE LOST MY JOB BECAUSE I CANT GET THERE!!! WHAT'S NEXT MY HOME???? PAID OUTRIGHT FOR THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW. DROVE ALL THE WAY TO MARYLAND TO GET IT. LESS THAN 5 YRS OLD!!! BUT BECAUSE MY MILEAGE WAS OVER THE 80,000 THEY WONT HELP. THIS PRODUCT ALREADY HAD THE FLAWED COMPONENTS WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT BRAND NEW SO WTF SHOULD MILEAGE HAVE TO DO WITH IT??? ALL THE FAULTY SENSORS WERE ANNOYING ENOUGH BUT THIS TYPE OF POTENTIAL FOR FAILURE SHOULD DEMAND TOTAL RECALL....INSTEAD THEY ISSUE WARRANTY EXTENSIONS AND MILEAGE LIMITATIONS. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AS A REGISTERED NISSAN OWNER WHEN THIS ISSUE WAS SUPPOSEDLY SENT OUT LAST FALL. AND EVEN IF I HAD BEEN MY MILEAGE WAS ALREADY OVER. THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED AS THIS ISSUE IS SUCH A SAFETY AND MONETARY CONCERN. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T FAIL WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME AT 8PM DOING 70MPH OR WHEN I HAD MY KIDS IN IT. ALL IN ONE WEEK I LOST VEHICLE BECAUSE OF FLAWED PRODUCT, MY JOB BECAUSE MY FLAWED VEHICLE DIED AND MY REPUTATION AS A RELIABLE AND RESPONSIBLE EMPLOYEE. HEARTBROKEN. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!!!! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE STARTING THE TRUCK. IT WAS PLACE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND THE RESULT WAS THAT A SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK WAS NOT WORKING. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ONE WEEK AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE NOTICE STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I EMAILED NISSAN TO COMPLAIN AND NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. *TR
I WAS MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY INTERSTATE 85 IN TRAFFIC THAT WAS FLOWING AT SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 75-80 MPH, AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF THIRD GEAR. THIS INCIDENT FORCED ME TO TAKE IMMEDIATELY ACTION AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHICH PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I LEARNED FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRANSMISSION IN VEHICLES THAT WERE MANUFACTURED THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, WERE DEFECTED BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL. SINCE THAT TIME, APRIL 5, 2013 TO BE EXACT, THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE HAS FAILED BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS HAZARDOUS THREAT TO CONSUMERS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
NEVER HAD ANY POWER TRAIN PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE I BOUGHT IT. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN AND I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE RPM ROSE BUT THE TRUCK HAD NO ACCELERATION. I TOOK HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. IT SEEMS FROM READING THE COMPLAINTS THAT NISSAN IS WELL KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM! WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN DONE? I CONTACTED NISSAN WHO TOLD ME THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND NO ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE. *TR
MY GAS GAUGE BEGAN GIVING BAD READING AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL MILES. WENT TO 1/2 TANK AND STAYED THERE. THIS CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. FILLED THE GAS TANK. THE NEXT DAY THE ENGINE REPAIR LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. CHECKED THE CODE AND IT WAS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. RESET AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. UNIT WORKED FINE. NEXT FILL UP THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE FUEL GAUGE. KEPT JUMPING AROUND. NOT KNOWING THE AMOUNT OF GAS AND RUNNING OUT AT SPEED WOULD CAUSE LOSE OF STEERING AND BRAKE CONTROL. NISSAN RECALLED THE 2006&2008 MODELS TO FIX. I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT THEY DID NOT USE SAME UNIT IN 2007 MODEL.
