THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS UNDER A 1/4 FULL. I FILLED THE GAS TANK UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY. WHEN APPROXIMATELY THE GAS WAS DOWN TO 3/4 FULL THE GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN I FILED THE GAS TANK THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY. I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECKED OUT AND IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR. I CLEARED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH STAYED CLEARED UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED AND THE ISSUES CAME BACK NO FUEL GAUGE READING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND FUEL GAUGE INOPERATIVE. WILL NOT PASS SMOG AS SENDING UNIT DEFAULT. RAN OUT OF GAS ON HIGHWAY. HAVE BEEN USING MILEAGE INDICATOR TO FILL UP.
ON 4 TO 5 TIMES IN A ONE MONTH PERIOD, WHILE TURNING RIGHT, MY STEERING FELT LIKE IT WENT COMPLETELY OUT. IT FELT AS IF ALL POWER WAS GONE AND BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN. IT HAS NOT DONE THIS IN A WHILE, BUT MY STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE. WHILE PARKED , I CAN SHAKE MY STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS NORMAL. I CALLED CROWN NISSAN AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH STEERING IN MY YEAR TRUCK. I THINK THEY ARE WRONG AND WILL FOLLOW UP WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
THIS REFERS TO MY 07 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 90K MILES. SINCE AUGUST 2012, FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC INDICATING ERRONEOUS FUEL LEVEL. MAY SHOW FUEL WHEN EMPTY OR EMPTY WHEN TANK IF FUEL. POTENTIAL FOR RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON HIGHWAY CREATING HAZARDOUS CIRCUMSTANCE. DIAGNOSTIC CODE IS P0463. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY WITH SAME PROBLEM ON NISSAN. ALLEGEDLY SAME PROBLEM RESULTED IN RECALL FOR 2006 BUT NOT FOR 2007 MODELS WITH SAME ISSUE. WHY? CUSTOMER SERVICE AT LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND NISSAN MAIN OFFICE NOT PARTICULARLY HELPFUL EXCEPT TO SAY LOCAL DEALER WILL FIX FOR 400-500 PLUS 120 FOR INITIAL DIAGNOSIS. BLATANTLY UNFAIR TO CUSTOMER FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A WORN OUT PART, IT IS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL FUEL SENSOR SENDING UNIT. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ON WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK THAT DAY AND THE FUEL GAUGE WAS MALFUNCTIONING. AFTER DOING A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY BE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT OR FUEL PUMP WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. THANKS. *TR
KNOWN ISSUES WITH FAULTY RADIATORS IS CAUSING IT TO FAIL AND MIX ANTIFREEZE INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL.. THE RESULT IS A ~$9200 BILL FROM YOUR DEALERSHIP FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR.. NISSAN ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS ISSUE MAKING ME THE OWNER OF MY 4TH NISSAN TRUCK TO PAY.. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS WATER IN THE FLUID. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE CAR HAD A QUARTER OF A TANK WHEN THE CAR STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF FUEL. THEN THE GAUGE INDICATED EMPTY WHEN I WAS ABLE TO REFUEL THE CAR. THIS WAS A RECALL IN THE 2006 AND 2008 MODELS. WHY IS THIS NOT BEING RECALLED IN THE 2007 MODEL. *TR
TOOK IT TO THE DEALER "NEMER" THEY TOLD US THAT THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION TOLD US IT WOULD COST $5000 TO $7000 TO FIX WE TOOK IT TO A PLACE TO HAVE IT FLUSHED OUT THAT HELPED THEN AFTER 109000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION DIED BEEN PARKED IN DRIVEWAY SENSE 12/13/13. *JS
MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 FRONTIER. FIRST MY CLUTCH WENT AT ABOUT 65000 MILES . HAVE BEEN DRIVING STICK ALL MY LIFE AND NEVER NEEDED A CLUTCH. THE REAR AXEL LEAKED AND CREATED A BAD SQUEAL AND DAMAGED MY BRAKE PADS. MY LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS WENT BAD AND MY HEATER CORE WENT AT 60000 MILES. I AM ALSO GETTING AN ELECTRICAL SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. WOW NEVER HAD A VEHICLE HAVE SO MUCH GO WRONG IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. NISSAN DEALER AND NISSAN CORPORATE BOTH REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY DEFECTS. *TR
ON JULY 2011 HAD TO PAY FOR NEW TRANSMISSION FOR MY TRUCK AFTER THE RADIATOR LEAKED IN TO THE TRANSMISSION, TALKED WITH NISSAN AND TRIED TO GET THEM TO STAND BEHIND IT AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE IF THE TRUCK WAS, IN SIDE THE NEW WARRANTY THEY HAD PUT OUT BUT I WAS AT 91611. THEY KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AND HOW TO FIX THIS. THEY HAVE TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE RADIATOR ABOUT $ 200.00 FIX.THIS REPLACE COST, ME MORE THAN $ 6000.00 TO GET FIXED. NOW AT 97980 MILES WE ARE BACK AT THE SHOP HAVING THE SAME THING, DONE OVER AGAIN, THIS TIME THEY ARE COVERING AFTER I HAD TO HAVE A OUT SIDE TECH COME IN AND PROVE THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING AGAIN. THE FIRST SAID IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THEN THEY HAD ANOTHER ONE CHECK IT AND SAID I WAS HEARING THE TIRES AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOOD. I WOULD NOT PICK UP MY TRUCK BECAUSE THE 12 MONTH WARRANTY WAS ABOUT TO RUN OUT ON JULY 26 2012 . AFTER THE OUT SIDE TEC CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION HAD COOLANT MIXED WITH IT THEY ORDERED EVERY THING NEW AGAIN...SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE FIRST ONE.. *TR
2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECT IN FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON JUNE 30, 2012, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT THE TIME, THEY DID RESEARCH AND SHE WAS INFORMED THE PART HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH AN EXPIRATION DATE OF 09/22/12 OR 72,000 MILES. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S INFORMATION WAS STILL IN THE DATABASE. NISSAN STATED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE PART, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OVER REQUIRED MILEAGE. *JB
BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT AXLES SEALS FAILED CAUSING GEAR OIL TO SATURATE THE REAR DISC BRAKE PADS, ROTOR AND EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES. EXTREME DECREASED BRAKING, WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY PROBLEM, WHICH SEEMS TO BE QUITE COMMON WITH THE FRONTIER AND TITAN PICK-UPS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,410.
AFTER FILLING UP AND ENTIRE TANK OF GAS, MY NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY, AND MY ODOMETER READ -------, NOT READING ANYTHING AT ALL. EVERY FILL UP AFTER, IT IS THE SAME THING. I LOOKED ONLINE AND READ THAT THERE IS AN EPIDEMIC WITH NISSAN AND MY VEHICLE WITH THIS SITUATION, HOWEVER, AFTER GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKING IF THERE WAS A RECALL, I WAS TOLD 'NO' AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET, FOR A COMMON PROBLEM, WITH THE NISSAN FRONTIER/PATHFINDER, FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS STILL INDICATING THAT IT HAD ONLY 1/4 TANK OF FUEL. I DROVE ABOUT 2 MILES AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER ARRIVING AT HOME I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, CHECKED THE FUEL CAP FOR TIGHTNESS, AND RESTARTED. THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE SES LIGHT REMAINED ON. LATER THAT DAY I DROVE ABOUT 35 MILES UNDER THE AFOREMENTIONED CONDITIONS. UPON STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO FULL, BUT THE SES LIGHT REMAINED ON. THAT IS THE SITUATION AS IT STANDS NOW.I HAVE NOT CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY YET, BUT I HAVE RESEARCHED THE SITUATION, AND FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE OF THE SAME PROBLEM, AND OF NISSAN'S UNWILLINGNESS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER.(IT IS APPARENTLY A DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNIT.) MY REASON FOR REPORTING THIS IS TWOFOLD. 1) TO MAKE EVERYONE AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AND 2) TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS THAT A MALFUNCTIONING FUEL GAUGE COULD CAUSE A CRASH IF THE DRIVER RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE IN MOTION, AND HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP. *TR
I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW TIMING CHAIN. NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN THE SUBJECT NISSAN VEHICLES ARE PRONE TO PREMATURE FAILURE, AND NISSAN CONTINUED TO INSTALL DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS IN THE SUBJECT NISSAN VEHICLES KNOWING THAT THEY WERE PRONE TO PREMATURE FAILURE. NISSAN NOT ONLY REFUSED TO DISCLOSE THE PROBLEM, BUT ALSO ACTIVELY CONCEALED KNOWLEDGE OF IT. NISSAN UNDERTOOK AFFIRMATIVE EFFORTS TO CONCEAL THE FAILURES THROUGH, AMONG OTHER THINGS, TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED TO REPAIR FACILITIES. ALTHOUGH NISSAN WAS AWARE ENOUGH OF THE PROBLEM TO ISSUE MULTIPLE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS TO REPAIR FACILITIES, INFORMING THEM OF THE NEED FOR TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS TO BE REPLACED, NISSAN SELECTIVELY CHOSE NOT TO INFORM CONSUMERS OF THIS FACT. NISSAN CONCEALED THIS SO THAT THE WARRANTY PERIOD ON THE SUBJECT NISSAN VEHICLES WOULD EXPIRE BEFORE OWNERS BECOME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THROUGH THIS PRACTICE, NISSAN UNLAWFULLY TRANSFERS THE COST OF REPLACEMENT FROM ITSELF TO THE OWNERS OF THE SUBJECT NISSAN. THE FACT THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEMS WERE PRONE TO SUDDEN PREMATURE FAILURE IS MATERIAL TO CONSUMERS BECAUSE IT PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND PLACES THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AT A RISK OF HARM. *TR
I HAD BEEN NOTICING MY AUTOMATIC TRUCK SHUTTER BEFORE THUMPING INTO GEAR MONTHS BEFORE I ACTUALLY TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE NISSAN DEALERS SHOP FOR ANALYSIS. WHEN THEY INSPECTED, I WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN DAMAGE DUE TO CONTAMINATION BY ENGINE COOLANT AND I WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE SOURCE OF THE CONTAMINATION IS A CRACKED ATF LINE THAT RUNS THROUGH AN ENGINE COOLANT CHAMBER IN THE RADIATOR. THIS DEFECTIVE PART AND DESIGN CAME DIRECTLY FROM THE NISSAN FACTORY. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THE DEFECT AND FAILED TO NOTIFY THE CONSUMER OR REPLACE THE FAILED TRANSMISSIONS @ NO COST. PLEASE ADVISE OF ANY RECALLS AND RESULTS FROM THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
MY TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO RADIATOR COOLANT MIXING WITH MY TRANSMISSION FLUID. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THE FACTORY DEFECT BUT FAILED TO NOTIFY THE CONSUMERS OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS. NISSAN WAS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND INCREASED THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 100K MILES. BUT THEY REQUIRED THE CUSTOMER TO PROVIDE A CO-PAY OF $3000.00 (WHICH IS RIDICULOUS). HOWEVER I NOTICED SYMPTOMS OF MY TRUCK SHUTTERING AND THUMPING INTO GEAR AROUND 95,000 MILES, MY VEHICLE HAD APPX110,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. FURTHERMORE, MILEAGE SHOULD NOT MATTER BECAUSE THIS IS A "FACTORY DEFECT". I BOUGHT MY NISSAN FRONTIER NEW IN 2007 AND IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO THE "FACTORY DEFECT". PLEASE INFORM ME IF THERE IS ANY RECOURSE/RECALL FOR THIS SITUATION. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE TAILGATE BECAME DETACHED FROM THE HINGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. AUTO ZONE CHECKED IT OUT AND STATED IT WAS A FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE. I DID NOTICED THE PASS WEEK IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE READING HOW MUCH GAS I HAD LEFT (DTE) I RESEARCHED AND FOUND IT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE FOR OUR VEHICLES. CONTACT UNITED NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND TOLD ME I WAS PASSED THE 72,000 MILE SO IT DOESN'T COVER THE RECALL? I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WOULD PREDICT WHEN IT WOULD FAIL? I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE OF THIS RECALL OR I WOULD HAVE HAD IT DONE WEATHER I DID HAVE THE PROBLEM OR NOT. ITS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR OUR VEHICLES SO WHY PUT A MARK ON WHEN IT IS COVERED? ITS NOT FAIR FOR THOSE EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM AFTER. CONTACT NISSAN CONSUMER USA AND STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE " NISSAN FRONTIER" WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. SO NO HELP THERE... ILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN EVER AGAIN VERY POOR ON ASSISTING THEIR CUSTOMERS. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THESE GUYS ITS A COMMON PROBLEM FIX IT!!! *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN VERY BUSY TRAFFIC. MAXIMUM 20 MPH, WHILE EVERYBODY ELSE WAS DRIVING 55+ MPH. TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING LEAVING MY SON AND I SCARED TO DEATH- IF I HAD BEEN MERGING INTO INTERSTATE TRAFFIC WE WOULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER, MAYBE EVEN KILLED. NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ISSUE WITH THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLING SYSTEM. I HOPE NOBODY DIES AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECT OR THE SITUATION IT CAN PUT AN UNKNOWING DRIVER IN. *JS
ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I STARTED TO FEEL AS IF THE TRUCK WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY, SOON AFTER THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I BROUGHT IT RIGHT IN TO OUR REGULAR SERVICE STATION. A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK REVEALED CODE P0717 FOR A TURBINE REVOLUTION SENSOR AND I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THE NISSAN DEALER DID THEIR OWN DIAGNOSTIC (NO TEST DRIVE) AND FOUND IT TO BE A BAD VALUE BODY, AS WELL AS BAD TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONERS, AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL 6 COIL PACKS, ALONG WITH A FEW OTHER GENERAL FINDINGS GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF NEARLY 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE 2 DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS HAVE COST ME CLOSE TO $250. I WAS IN SHOCK AND DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS UP FRONT, SO I TOOK THE TRUCK TO 2 OTHER SERVICE STATIONS, ONE BEING AAMCO WHO SPECIALIZES IN TRANSMISSIONS. NONE OF THE 3 OTHER STATIONS FOUND ANY OTHER ISSUES ASIDE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AAMCO AFTER A TEST DRIVE AND DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DETERMINED THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT WOULD NEED TO REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. AAMCO FOUND THERE TO BE WATER BEING PUMPED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, AND ALSO CLAIMED IT WAS THE 3 PROBLEM OF THIS TYPE THEY HAD SEEN SO FAR THIS MONTH. APPARENTLY THE RADIATOR LEAKS WATER INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIX IS A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND SEPARATE COOLER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO ASSURE THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. AT A COST OF 3200 TO ME! THIS PARTICULAR AAMCO IS ACROSS FROM THE DEALER AND CLAIMS THAT HAVE DONE WORK FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE SAME PROBLEM! I ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER BACK IN OCT. /NOV. INDICATING A POSSIBLE RADIATOR PROBLEM AND AN OFFER OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED OF THE DAMAGE THAT COULD OCCUR TO THE TRANSMISSION! I FEEL CHEATED, AND IN MY RESEARCH HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. NISSAN SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND DO THE RIGHT THING BY THEIR CUSTOMERS! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE LEVELS WERE INACCURATE AND FLUCTUATED. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG AND THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL GAUGE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 4.0 V-6 ENGINE HAS 43,600 MILES, AND IT MAKING A KNOCKING / BANGING NOISE, I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO FILE A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 43,600 AND HAD ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AS SCHEDULED. THEY SENT ME A REPLY BACK STATING "A REVIEW OF OUR RECORDS INDICATES THAT THE ABOVE-REFERENCED VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN ANY RECALLS OR SERVICE CAMPAIGNS. IN ORDER TO LOOK INTO POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE, A RECENT DIAGNOSIS BY A AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALERSHIP IS REQUIRED. SO I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. AND DROPPED OFF MY FRONTIER AT MY LOCAL DEALER ON MONDAY EVENING (1/30/12). TUESDAY AFTERNOON (1/31/12) THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THE KNOCKING IS FROM A LOWER PISTON ROD, THE TIMING CHAIN AND COMPONENTS ARE WORN OUT, THERE ARE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TOP OF THE ENGINE, AND IT IS ALSO BLOWING OIL INTO THE AIR INTAKE. BASICALLY,THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SHOT!. THE COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IS $6,000 NOT INCLUDING LABOR. HE THEN WENT ON TO TELL ME,THAT HE CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HE FOUND SO FAR,AND SAID THAT ACCORDING TO COMPANY POLICY,HE NEEDS THE VEHICLE "A FEW MORE DAYS" TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE IF THERE IS IN FACT A DEFECT, BECAUSE MORE INFORMATION IS NECESSARY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS OBVIOUSLY VERY UPSETTING THAT THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 43,600 MILES AND THE ENGINE IS SHOT,NOT TO MENTION,NOW I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE. SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND PROBLEMS WITH THIS 4.0 V6 ENGINE, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO REPLACE/REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS, OR ATLEAST BE COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AT NO COST TO ME. TRANSMISSION. WE WERE PASSING A CAR WHEN IT STARTED TO COME IN OUR LANE. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF ITS WAY. THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. LUCKY FOR US THE DRIVER SAW US AT THAT LAST SECOND AND GOT BACK IN HIS LANE AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LOCATED IN THE RADIATOR FAILED AND NOW RADIATOR HAS TRANSMISSION FLUID IN IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS WATER IN IT. BOTH ARE RUINED AND DEALER SAYS IT IS $9000. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ONLY COVERED UP TO 80000 MILES AND NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS. IF IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED FOR A FEW HUNDRED BUCKS. THANK YOU
THE RADIATOR IN THE VEHICLE RUPTURED, ALLOWING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION. THIS LED TO LOSS OF POWER, HARD SHIFTING, AND SLIPPAGE WHILE ACCELERATING. CONTACTED NISSAN, THEY INFORMED ME WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED BUT I WAS 1,600 MILES OVER THEIR ARBITRARILY EXTENDED LIMIT. THEY SUGGESTED I CONTACT THE DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE DELAER REPEATED THAT IT WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY PERIOD, AND ESTIMATED REPAIR COSTS AT $7000. I TOOK TRUCK TO LOCAL SHOP, WHO QUOTED $5500, AND NOW FIND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND I WILL BE WITHOUT MY WORK VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH. NISSAN IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THIS DRIVELINE FAILURE ISSUE, BUT THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO PUSH OFF THE COST OF THEIR FAULTY PARTS ONTO THE CONSUMER, RATHER THAN REMEDY WHAT IS A COSTLY AND POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT.
MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER HAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000 MILES. UPON ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START AND I NOTICED THAT ALL THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE ALL SHAKING. AFTER JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED HOWEVER I NOTICED THE TRIP MILEAGE WAS RESET TO "000.0" AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE AND ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT RESTART. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START I HEAR A CLICK CLICK SOUND AND ALL GAUGES WOULD SHAKE. I CHARGED THE BATTERY AND THE PROBLEM SUBSIDED FOR A FEW WEEKS HOWEVER THE SAME PROBLEM LISTED ABOVE BEGAN TO RE-OCCUR. *TR
AT 7600 MILES I HEAR A NOISE ON THE ENGINE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND GAS GAUGE STAR READING EMPTY WENT WAS FULL I TOOK TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM SOME WHERE IN THE ENGINE THEY NEVER TOLD ME WAS TIMING,CHAIN,I TOOK TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT TIMING CHAIN WAS THE PROBLEM ,THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT THE DEALER TOLD ME THE WAS THE THAT THE REASON FOR THE GAS TANK READ EMPTY WAS T DUE A GAS MODULE. *TR
AFTER FILLING WITH FUEL ON 12/2/2011, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS HUNG AT ABOUT 1/4 TANK. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES BEFORE THE FUEL GAUGE WAS REGISTERING NEAR FULL. ON 12/8/2011, I FILLED THE TANK WITH FUEL, AND UPON STARTING THE ENGINE THE FUEL GAUGE READ "EMPTY" AND THE FUEL LIGHT WAS ON. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 85 MILES, BUT THE FUEL GAUGE REMAINED ON EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON. ON 12/9/2011, I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS CONCERNING THE RECALL ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, NISSAN DID OPEN A FILE NUMBER (7327001) AND IT IS BEING FORWARDED TO A REGIONAL SPECIALIST FOR REVIEW, BUT AM TOLD IT IS UNLIKELY THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WILL BE COVERED. THERE IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, AS NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS COMPONENT TO 72,000 MILES, BUT AM TOLD THAT UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, AT MY EXPENSE, AND NO CERTAINTY IF NISSAN WILL STAND GOOD FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. SO THE DEALER CAN CHARGE ME APPROXIMATELY $120.00 TO ME WHAT I ALREADY KNOW? I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A HIGHWAY SAFETY ISSUE; NOT KNOWING IF YOU ARE GETTING AN ACCURATE FUEL QUANTITY READING, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT SPEED, 11:30 PM TRUCK STALLED OUT, ATTEMPTED NEUTRAL RESTART WHILE MANEUVERING TO THE RIGHT WAS A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. TRUCK FUEL GAUGE WAS READING 1/4 TANK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOW ON SO I DID NOT CONSIDER IT HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL. I HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, CODE READ P0463 WHICH IS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR ON THE FUEL PUMP LOCATED IN THE FUEL TANK. MECHANIC WANTS $700 TO REPAIR, THE 2006 AND 2008 VERSIONS OF THE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT NOT THE 2007, SEEMS THAT NISSAN HAS USED THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS IN ALL 3 AND PROBABLY MORE MODEL YEARS. I WAS PLACED IN A SITUATION THAT WAS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TO ME, MY PASSENGERS, AND THOSE MOTORISTS ON THE ROAD AROUND ME. SINCE THIS EVENT I HAVE READ WEBSITE AFTER WEBSITE DESCRIBING THIS PRODUCT DEFECT, IT IS THE SAME IN EVERY CASE IT IS CLEAR THAT NISSAN HAS PLACED INFERIOR PARTS IN THIS TRUCK AND THEY ARE FAILING PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THOSE AROUND US IN HARMS WAY. 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER AT 54K MILE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE ERROR CODE P0463 (FUEL SENDING UNITS FAILURE). FOUND OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ALSO HAPPENED TO THE 06 AND 08 NISSAN FRONTIER THAT WAS ON THE SAFETY RECALLED LIST. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIGHT UP ON (P0463) AND GAS GAUGE INDICATOR WILL DROP TO EMPTY FUEL EVEN STILL AT 1/4 FULL, DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE SENDING UNITS NISSAN MANUFACTURED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 114,000 MILES. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE DUE TO TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THEIR ASSESSMENT ASTOUNDED ME. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A KNOWN MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR CAUSING ANTIFREEZE TO BE SPILLED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE QUOTED REPAIR WAS OVER $6000.00. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I'M STILL MAKING LOAN PAYMENTS ON IT. I'VE TREATED THIS VEHICLE WITH KID GLOVES AND FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE RELIGIOUSLY. THIS MECHANICAL ISSUE IS DUE TO SOMETHING THAT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD TO ME DEFECTIVE AND NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA IS UNWILLING TO COVER THE REPAIRS. FUEL GAUGE FAILED. SLIGHT SMELL OF FUEL IN CABIN. DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER STATED THAT WHILE TROUBLESHOOTING THE FUEL SENDING UNIT THEY DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LINES LEADING TO THE FUEL TANK. TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE APPEARED TO BE DAMAGE TO THE FUEL LINES CAUSED BY AN UNKNOWN ANIMAL CHEWING THROUGH THE FUEL LINE, REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THIS SOUNDED VERY IMPROBABLE AND I BELIEVE IT HAS TO BE A RESULT OF THE POOR QUALITY OF THE PLASTIC FUEL TANKS USED IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP LIKE I NORMALLY DO. WHEN I STARTED MY ENGINE, MY GAS GAUGE DID NOT CLIMB PAST THE 1/4 MARK. I TURNED MY TRUCK ON AND OFF 2 MORE TIMES TO SEE IF THIS MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM, IT DID NOT. AS I DROVE HOME, THE GAUGE CLIMBED EVER SO SLOWLY BEFORE STOPPING AT 1/2 TANK. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH, I WENT ONLINE TO X.NISSANHELP.COM AFTER PERFORMING A SEARCH, I CAME ACROSS MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. A SIMILAR PROBLEM WAS FOUND ON THE 2000-2004 XTERRA MODELS AND A RECALL WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP AFTER NOT GETTING ANY FUEL, POSING A GREAT DANGER. IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IS FAULTY AND WILL CORRODE OVER TIME. THERE IS A GENERAL CONSENSUS THAT EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING THE PROBLEM IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 YRS AND WITH AROUND 39K-49K. IF THIS PROBLEM EXISTED IN PREVIOUS MODELS, AND IT WAS RECALLED, THE 2005-2007 XTERRAS, FRONTIERS, AND PATHFINDERS SHOULD GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER!! WHY WAIT FOR ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE DEATHS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM LIES IN AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. COST OF REPAIR RANGES FROM $300-600." *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS THE LOW TIRE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR. ALL 4 OF THE TIRES LEAK BECAUSE THE VALVE STEMS ARE CRACKING INTERNALLY. THE VALVE STEMS ARE $100 EACH PLUS LABOR TO INSTALL THEM. SOFT TIRES ARE UNSAFE AND COULD BLOW OUT CAUSING ACCIDENTS AND INJURY. THESE SHOULD BE RECALLED. NISSAN SAYS THEY WON'T HELP. *TR
