I HAVE A 2006, NISSAN MAXIMA SE. I'VE BEEN HAVING SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR JERKS VIOLENTLY WHEN ITS CHANGES GEARS BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND, AS WELL AS BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, I'VE SEEN COUNTLESS NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. I RE-BUILT THE TRANSMISSION AT MY EXPENSE OF $3,200 AND IT WASN'T OVER YET, THEN CURRENTLY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND MY CAR WONT START, I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY ON AND OFF 4-6 TIMES EVERY TIME I NEED TO DRIVE FOR IT TO START. MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, THEREFORE I CAN'T SEE HOW FAST OR SLOW I'M DRIVING NOR IS THE MILEAGE CALCULATION ARE WORKING IT HAS BEEN STUCK AT 86,745. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM FROM 2004 TO 2008. I DON'T SEE HOW THIS COULD GO ON. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ELECTRICAL FAILS AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD DIM TO WHERE I AM NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND UNABLE TO USE MY SIGNALS FOR SAFETY CONCERNS, ESPECIALLY WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT TIME. THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND IS UNSTABLE AT TIMES. THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK AND I NEED A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE SAD PART IS THAT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES NOW AND EVERY TIME I PAY THESE HIGH FEES FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY CAN NOT GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM.
FOR THE PAST 12 MONTHS, OUR 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING MAJOR TRANSMISSION/POWER TRAIN ISSUES THAT HAVE MADE THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO OPERATE. IT BEGAN AS SEVERE JERKING WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR, AND HAS PROGRESSED TO A NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE DRIVING MACHINE. THERE ARE MULTITUDES OF OWNERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES, AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE/ADDRESS THE ISSUE. I HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER. IT IS SO UNSAFE THAT I WILL NOT ALLOW MY 16 YEAR OLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OVER FEAR AND ANGST THAT SHE MAY UNINTENTIONALLY DRIVE OVER A PEDESTRIAN OR CHILD. SOMEONE NEEDS TO PRESSURE NISSAN TO RECALL AND ADDRESS THIS MAJOR, KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN JUNE, 2010 AND IN JULY I NOTICED WHEN I SHIFT MY GEARS IT HAS A JERK TO IT, ALSO I NOTICED THE CLUTCH WILL GO ALL THE WAY DOWN AND WANT COME UP. CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC CUT THE CAR OFF PUT IT IN GEAR AND THEN START THE CAR UP AND TAKE OFF! I THOUGHT I WOULD LOVE NISSAN, THIS IS MY 1ST AND LAST NISSAN CAR THAT I WILL PURCHASE I HAVE 3 KIDS AND I AM ALMOST SCARED TO DRIVE THEM AROUND IN MY CAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 5 TIMES WITHIN THE 3 MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD IT. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS THE LAST TIME, I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON BUT I DO KNOW THAT I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A NISSAN VEHICLE ANYMORE, AND I WILL ADVISE MY FRIEND'S AND FAMILY TO DO THE SAME. I HATE IT WHEN MY FAMILY TELLS ME THAT I HAVE PURCHASED A LEMON! THAT'S EMBARRASSING. I HAVE A 3 MONTH OLD CAR THAT JERKS FOR NO REASON, AND THE CLUTCH ACTS UP. *TR
2006 MAXIMA TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING IT STARTED SLIPPING AROUND 97,000 MILES, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NOW IT IS GETTING WORSE, WHILE I AM DRIVING THE CAR JERKS VERY HARD AND THEN IT STARTS TO NOT CHANGE OUT AND WHEN IT DOES CHANGE OUT IT SPEEDS THE CAR UP. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA SE WITH 60,000 MILES FROM A DEALERSHIP HERE IN TUCSON, AZ. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, I STARTED TO NOTICE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING RATHER ROUGH. I ALSO NOTICED IT WAS "REVVING UP" ON ITS OWN WHEN I WOULD PUSH THE GAS, AND WHILE IT WAS TRYING TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, OR FROM 2ND TO 3RD. I ALSO NOTICED A "JERKING" WHILE SHIFTING, WHETHER IT BE UPSHIFT, OR DOWNSHIFTING. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE COULD FIND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MYSELF, AND I WAS HORRIFIED! I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. TOYOTA RECENTLY HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENCE WHERE THE GAS PEDAL WOULD PUSH DOWN, AND THE DRIVER WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STOP AND WOULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS! THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE MAXIMA. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT MUST TAKE A FATALITY, TO MAKE NISSAN DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE ANYONE IS HURT! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH , THE VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO OFFER HER ASSISTANCE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,009. UPDATED 09/15/10. *LJ UPDATED 09/16/10
EVERY TIME A PRESS MY BRAKES THE ABS ACTIVATES. IT APPEARS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AS I HAS RESEARCHED FORUMS AND THERE ARE LOTS OF FOLKS OUT THERE. IT IS VERY CONCERNING AS I DO NOT STOP AS QUICKLY AS I NORMALLY WOULD. COULD LEAD TO A ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK AND STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A FEATURE THAT ALLOWS THE SIDE MIRRORS TO TILT DOWN WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE. HOWEVER, WHEN THE FEATURE IS ACTIVATED FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR, THE MIRROR DOES NOT ADJUST PROPERLY BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION, WHICH MAY HINDER DRIVERS VIEW, POSSIBLY CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE MIRROR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE REPLACED MIRROR BEGAN EXHIBITING SAME PROBLEM AS THE DEFECTIVE MIRROR.RETURNED VEHICLE BACK TO NISSAN TWICE AND THEY DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY, PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR BEGAN ADJUSTING ON ITS OWN TO A POINT WHERE I COULD NOT SEE VEHICLES ALONGSIDE THE RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS NOT EVEN PLACED IN REVERSE! RETURNED VEHICLE BACK TO NISSAN, THEY DETERMINED THAT MIRROR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT AT MY EXPENSE, BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRED, DESPITE THE FACT THAT I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I BROUGHT MY 2006 MAXIMA NEW AND HAD ALL KIND OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AT THE VERY BEGINNING. EVERYTHING WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WHEN MY CAR HAD ABOUT 62000 MILES THE CAR STARTED SLIPPING AND MISSING GEARS SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION WASN'T COVER UNDER THE POWER TRAIN BECAUSE THERE WERE 2 TYPES OF TRANSMISSION PUT INTO THE MAXIMA AND THE ONE THAT MY CAR HAD WAS NOT COVER UNDER THE POWER TRAIN. I CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICES AND DIDN'T GET ANY SATISFACTION. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANS AND MANY OTHER THINGS ON THIS CAR. I WOULD NOT EVER OR SUGGEST THAT ANYONE BUY A NISSAN. I BELIEVED THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE FIRST COMPLAINT WAS EVER MADE. SAME ON YOU NISSAN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 25 -35 MPH APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP SIGNAL. THERE WAS HEAVY SMOKE THAT EXPELLED FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. A BYSTANDER EXTINGUISHED THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT AREA. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AFTER THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES; AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FRONT SEAT WIRE HARNESS. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL REPAIR UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V512000 (SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: POWER ADJUST). HOWEVER, THE RECALL SERVICE REPAIR HAD NOT CORRECTED THE SAFETY DEFECT. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE REGARDING THE SAFETY DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000.
2006 NISSAN MAXIMA NOT PROPERLY SHIFTING JERKS AND HARD BUMPS WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING, SOMETIMES THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT'S TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS AND IS SUCKING FOR GAS THEN THE HARD BUMP COMES. IT BUMP SO HARD DOING ACCELERATION THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 2 DAYS AGO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP IT'S THE MOTOR MOUNTS OTHER REPAIR COMPANIES SAYS IT'S MORE SERIOUS AND IT'S THE TRANSMISSION. I CALL NISSAN MOTOR CO. AND WAS TOLD THEIR ARE NO RECALLS, BUT WHEN I LOOKED ON CARSURVEY.COM AND OTHER SITES A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING RECURRING TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN WHICH IT WOULD JERK WHEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AS WELL AS HESITATE WHILE ACCELERATING. THE HESITATIONS WOULD OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,667.
IN JUNE OF 2010 WE STARTED TO NOTICE CONDENSATION BUILDING UP IN THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT. IT GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE BUT THE LEESBURG FL NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID TO IGNORE IT SINCE IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE ($1200) TO REPLACE THE UNIT. THEN IN FEB OF 2011 WE NOTICED THAT THE XENON BULB IN THAT FIXTURE HAD BLOWN OUT. WE DON'T DO TOO MUCH NIGHT DRIVING SO WE DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN IT BLEW, BUT IT SEEMS THE EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION CONTRIBUTED TO THE BULB'S FAILURE. ASIDE FROM THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE BULB AND FIXTURE, THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY CONDENSATION PROBLEM SEEMS A SAFETY ISSUE (AND A MANUFACTURER DEFECT) BECAUSE OF REDUCED VISIBILITY AND THE PROSPECT OF THE XENON BULB FAILING PREMATURELY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED MY 06 NISSAN MAXIMA EARLIER THIS YEAR. NOW I AM FACED WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 90K MILES. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT AN UNBELIEVABLE NUMBER OF CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM CREATES DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AS THE VEHICLE MAY SLIP OUT OF GEAR IN PLACES WHERE IT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ALSO WHEN THE ENGINE REVS DUE TO GEAR SLIPPAGE IT CAN CAUSE ACCELERATION WHICH COULD ALSO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THERE ARE NEARLY 100 COMPLAINTS ON JUST ONE BLOG I FOUND, ALL RELATING TO THE 04-06 NISSAN MAXIMA. ON THURSDAY, MAY 20TH OUR 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA QUIT RUNNING. THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75MPH ON A FREEWAY OVERPASS. WITHIN 60 SECONDS OF THE LIGHT COMING ON THE ENGINE STARTING MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE. I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE FREEWAY BEFORE IT QUIT RUNNING. IN THE CAR WERE ME (THE DRIVER), MY HUSBAND (FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) AND OUR 8 MONTH OLD NIECE (STRAPPED IN A REAR FACING CARSEAT). CAR WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY STATE THEY BELIEVE THE OIL PUMP IS DEFECTIVE. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. NO PREVIOUS ENGINE ISSUES OR REPAIRS HAVE BEEN NOTICED. AT THIS POINT, NISSAN IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
1.ON MAY 17, 2010 , I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN MY 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA WHERE SOMEONE HAD REAR ENDED ME VERY HARD. AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM THE BODY SHOP.I NOTICED THAT WHEN SHIFTING GEARS THE CAR STALLS AND JERKS VIOLENTLY. ALSO WHEN DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO SLIP , MEANING I AM PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE , THEN IT KICKS BACK IN PLACE CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK EXTREMELY RUFF. 2. THIS PROBLEM SO VADEN NISSAN SAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING BAD AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAVE ON THE VEHICLE , BASICALLY THE WON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL A SERVICE LIGHT OR CODE SHOWS UP, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. IT SEEM TO WHEN THE CAR WARMS UP IT BEGINS TO HAPPEN. 3. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO VADEN NISSAN FOUR TIMES WITHIN A 3 MONTH PERIOD. FIRST THEY TOPPED OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, SECOND TIME THE REPLACED THE MOTOR MOUNTS, THIRD TIME THEY REPLACED THE STARTER AND THE FOURTH TIME, THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME I HAD TO KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL A SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON . 3. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA .THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 15 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED A HESITATION AND A VIOLATE JERK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES WITH CONCERNS OF THE FAILURE BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE A FAILURE WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
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
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN 2010, 2012,&2014(NOW) *JS
I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE WITH 3K MILE OIL CHANGES AND REPLACED THE TIRES. IT HAS STARTED TO MAKE JERK WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1-2 GEAR OR 2-3 AND RECENTLY THE ENGINES REVS UP TO 4RPMS BUT DOES NOT GO ANY FASTER. UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT FROM LOOKING AROUND OTHER BLOGS AND FORUMS IT LOOKS AS THIS IS QUITE A COMMON PROBLEM. THE ENGINE IS MAKING A NOISE AS IF IT IS RUNNING ON TURBO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL THERE IS SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR ITS RIDICULOUS. THIS IS THE FIRST BRAND NEW CAR I HAVE PURCHASED AND I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MANY ISSUES IT HAS.
2006 NISSAN MAXIMA SE POWER- 96,000 MILES, TRAIN/ TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR BETWEEN SECOND, THIRD, AND FOURTH GEARS. IT CURRENTLY GETS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR ON THE FREEWAY. ON THE CITY ROADWAYS I CURRENTLY PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SLIP INTO GEAR, CAUSING A JERKING SENSATION AND SOMETIMES MAKING THE CAR MOVE INTO THE OTHER LANE. CORROSION OR SEDIMENT BUILDS UP INSIDE THE WHEEL HUB WHERE THE ANTILOCK SENSOR RING IS LOCATED, AND SENDS OUT FALSE SIGNALS. IN MY CASE THE HUB HAD TO BE CLEANED AND THE SENSOR REPLACED. I TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER WHO PERFORMED ALL THE REPAIRS. WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE TECH HOW MANY MAXIMAS THEY HAVE TO DO THIS TO, HE SAID "ALL OF THEM". I ALSO CHECKED AN ONLINE FORUM I BELONG TO (MAXIMA.ORG) AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2004 AND UP MODELS. I'M NOT SURE HOW NISSAN HASN'T HAD TO ISSUE A RECALL ON AN ISSUE THAT AFFECTS AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY SYSTEM ON THE CAR. WE REPLACED IT, THEN 14 MONTHS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ($350). MY MECHANIC REPLACED IT AND A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PUMPED STARTED RUNNING NON-STOP. EVEN WHEN IN PARK. THE MECHANIC THEN STATED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE CONTROLLER NEEDED REPLACED ($1300). NOW IT HAS BEEN 10 MONTHS AND IT'S STARTING AGAIN. IF I DRIVE ON DRY PAVEMENT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES KICK IN NON-STOP. I WAS DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I WAS AT A STOP. AS TRAFFIC BEGAN TO MOVE AGAIN MY CAR JERKED AND SPED UP FAST COULD NOT STOP WITH BREAKS HIT CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAR JERKS EVERY TIME TRANSMISSION GETS HOT. NOTIFIED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO SAY THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THE 2006 MAXIMAS. SO NOTHING WAS DONE. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION SHOPS THEY SAY THAT EVERY MAXIMA 2006 THEY LOOKED AT IS HAVING SAME PROBLEM. *TR
