VEHICLE HAD NEW BRAKES - DISKS AND PADS ADDED IN EARLY MAY 2011. JULY 29 2011 DRIVING 20 + MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SOUND LIKE IT HAD A FLAT TIRE. IMMEDIATELY TOOK VEHICLE TO THE SHOP, GLANCING AT THE CAR, MECHANIC SAID MAY BE A TIRE ROD, BUT WANTED TO LOOK AT IT MORE IN DEPTH. HE STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM SOMETHING LOOSE OR CRACKED IN THE TRANSFER CASE. HE ADVISED ME THAT AT SOME POINT TRANSFER CASE WILL BUST AND ALL 4 WHEELS WILL LOCK UP. HE QUOTED ME AT LEAST $2500 FOR REPAIR. THE LOCATION OF THE TRANSFER CASE MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO REPAIR OR SERVICE. WHY WILL NISSAN NOT STAND BEHIND THIS PRODUCT. THERE IS NO RUST ON THE VEHICLE, BUT WITH 150,000 MILES ON IT NOW, IS IT WORTH THE MONEY TO REPAIR? I HAVE ALREADY REPLACE THE INTAKE MANFOLD WHICH CRACKED IN NOVEMBER. WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT PART TO BREAK - THE ENGINE ITSELF? LOVE MY MURANO, BUT THE COMPANY SHOULD BACK THEIR PRODUCT. MY MURANO HAS BEEN DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCES A FEW TIMES SINCE BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY "4 TIRES LOCK UP". *TR
I HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC AND I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL, THERE IS NO RESPONSE AND THEN THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. I WAS CHANGING LANES AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE VALVE BODY AND GASKET. THEY SAID THE EXTENDED 120,000 WARRANTY ON THE CVT TRANSMISSON WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SUPPORT, AND AFTER INVESTIGATING THEY AGREED THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THAT I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. I WAS TOO WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM , THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT THIS MILEAGE. I ALSO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AND ALSO THE FUEL PUMP, JUST AFTER IT TURNED 100,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE NJ TURNPIKE THEN ALL OF THE POWER WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS DISAPPEARED. ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL. WAS LUCKY I WASN'T HIT FROM BEHIND MY OTHER CARS SINCE IT WENT FROM 60 MPH TO A 5 MPH WITHOUT ANY WARNING. WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. HAD CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. NOW I AM READING ONLINE ABOUT OTHERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITHOUT ANY SOLUTIONS TO A PROBLEM THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF. GUESS PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE ANY ACTION IS TAKEN. *TR
THERE ARE TWO INCIDENCES. THE FIRST ONE WAS THE TRANSFER CASE WHICH COST $3500 AND THE SHOP DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT HE SAID THAT THEY JUST GO WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE THERE HAS TO BE A REASON. AND NOW ABOUT TWO MONTHS AND 2K MILES LATER THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL EXPLODED. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND AT A DIFFERENT SHOP SO HOPEFULLY THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT WENT WRONG. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR DIFF SHOULDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM TILL AT LEAST 150,000 MILES. ALSO THE SERVICE MANUAL DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SERVICE OR MAINTAIN OF THE TRANSFER CASE OR THE REAR DIFF. BOTH SHOULD BE COVERED UP UNTIL 100,000 MILES. AND ON GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO FIX THIS NEW PROBLEM. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL FAILURES WITH IT THAT THE DEALER HAS EITHER CLAIMED THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE, HAS FAILED TO FIX OR INDICATES THAT MY MODEL IS NOT PART OF A RECALL EFFORT, EVEN WHEN MY CAR IS REPRODUCING THE VERY SAME SYMPTOMS THE RECALLS STATE THEY ADDRESS. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND THE FAILURE OF THE CAM POSITION SENSORS AND CRANK POSITION SENSORS. BOTH HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SIMPLY STOP IN ONGOING TRAFFIC CREATING AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY FAMILY! DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO ACTUALLY DIE BEFORE WILL ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAULTY CONSTRUCTION WITH THE MURANO? THIS IS NOT THE FIRST LIFE-THREATENING INCIDENT I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR!!! I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE DIED!!! I COMPLETELY LOST ACCELERATION ON INTERSTATE 70 AT 10:30 P.M. AT NIGHT WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR! WHAT DID THE DEALERSHIP DO TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION? REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR THAT WAS ALREADY ON RECALL AND THREATENED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE COST UNTIL I THREATENED LEGAL ACTION...THEN, ALL OF A SUDDEN, TOOK CARE OF IT! THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT-BOTTOM BRACKET HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS, BUT HAS NEVER BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE. JUST RECENTLY, HOWEVER, IT BECAME A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I ADJUSTED THE SEAT, AND IT WOULD NOT GO BACK TO WHERE I HAD IT. NAMELY, WHEN I ADJUSTED THE SEAT UPWARDS, IT WOULD NOT GO BACK DOWN. BEING A TALL GUY, AT 6'4", THIS MEANT MY KNEES WERE SHOVED INTO THE DASH AND MY HEAD HIT THE CEILING. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN ACCELERATING AND BRAKING, THE SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH UNPREDICTABLY. TO MEDIATE THE PROBLEM, THE SEAT BRACKET IS BEING REPLACED. I WILL BE ASKING FOR THE BROKEN PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FURTHER, BUT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE AND BATTERY LIGHTS ALSO BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND RECCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS ON THREE OCCASIONS. AFTER THE FINAL FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A NISSAN 2003 MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
NISSAN MURANO HAS POOR POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE. THE LIQUID LEAKED IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE AND DANGEROUS. AND IF THE LEAK GOES UNNOTICED, THE DRIVER'S SAFETY IS ALSO A BIG CONCERN. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING BROKE AWAY FROM THE ANCHOR POINT ON THE LEFT SIDE. I HEARD A LOUD SNAP OR CRACK AND THE SEAT SAGGED PERCEPTIVELY DOWN AND TO THE LEFT. FORTUNATELY I WAS TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT A MODERATE SPEED. I BELIEVE THAT IF I HAD BEEN NEGOTIATING A SHARP TURN WITH ANY MORE SPEED I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN SIGNIFICANT JEOPARDY. I BELIEVE THIS DEFECT IN THE SEAT ATTACHMENT REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO THE PUBLIC AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT THE COST TO REPAIR THE SEAT WAS $700.00. WHILE THIS MAY NOT SEEM LIKE A LOT OF MONEY TO PAY IN ORDER TO KEEP YOUR CAR SAFE IT SURELY MAY PREVENT SOME PEOPLE FROM HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE AND AS A RESULT KEEP UNSAFE CARS ON THE ROAD. AS I UNDERSTAND IT NISSAN IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM OR PARTICIPATE IN THE REPAIR AFTER THE PART FAILS. I PLAN TO HAVE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS MADE AND I WILL KEEP THE DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR INSPECTION. I THINK IT WAS SIGNIFICANT THAT THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION IN VIRGINIA WITH A BROKEN SEAT. DOES THAT NOT SUGGEST THAT THE ISSUE BELONGS WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF THE NHTSA AND THAT PERHAPS THE ORGANIZATION SHOULD TAKE STEPS TO ELIMINATE THIS VERY REAL PROBLEM OR AT LEAST MAKE SURE THAT NISSAN PARTICIPATES IN THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. *TR
FRONT DOOR LOCKS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN USING THE REMOTE.. *TR
ALTERNATOR FAILURE 2003 NISSAN MURANO ALMOST CAUSE A ACCIDENT. *TR
A ROAD OBJECT WHICH WENT UNDER THE CAR NOT OVER ANY TIRE STRUCK THE GAS TANK AND PUNCTURED. THE INSTALLED RECALLED ADDED TANK PROTECTOR DID NOT KEEP THE TANK FROM BEING STRUCK AND CAUSING A LEAK. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AT THE MAKERS DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ANY RECOURSE FROM THE PREVIOUS RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE RECALL ADDED DEVICE DID NOT PERFORM AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL ?NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V003000 *TR
UPON NORMAL ACCELERATION FROM A STOP SIGN ONTO A MAJOR ROAD WITH A 35 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THERE WAS A LOUD "POP" AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND COULD ONLY MOVE AT A SLOW CRAWL TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE CAR COULD REV, BUT VERY LITTLE POWER WAS GETTING TO THE WHEELS. THERE WAS A SMALL OIL SPILL UNDER THE REAR AXLE OF THE CAR. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC (WE DID NOT TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY) AND THE POLICE DEMANDED SPEEDY DRY TO BE PUT DOWN TO COVER THE SMALL OIL SPILL, WHICH COST 45 DOLLARS AND WAS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) AND ITS CASING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF $4922. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, WE LEARNED THAT NISSAN AUTOMATICALLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES TO 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES, HOWEVER, WE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED, NOR DID WE HEAR FROM THEM THAT CVT FAILURE WAS COMMON AMONGST THIS MODEL YEAR, AS IS APPARENT FROM THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO OURS. WE PERFORMED ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR, INCLUDING REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERY 30,000 MILES. WE HAVE REACHED OUT TO NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WILL REIMBURSE US FOR THE REPAIR COSTS AS PART OF THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, SUDDENLY WE HEARD VERY LOUD 'BUM, BUM, BUM' LIKE NOISE. WE STOPPED AT NEAR GAS STATION, AND THE OIL APPEARED BENEATH THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT IS SPLIT OPEN IN HALF. WE WERE TOLD THAT IF THAT WOULD HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEED THE FLYING REAR DIFFERENTIAL DEBRIS COULD PUNCTURE THE NEARBY GAS TANK.
I JUST PURCHASED A NISSAN MURANO YESTERDAY AND AFTER JUST 10 MINUTES OR SO OF DRIVING I NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATION IS NOT EXACTLY IN SYNC WITH MY PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL. THE PREVIOUS OWNER ALSO COMPLAINED OF THIS TO THE NISSAN DEALER HE BOUGHT IT FROM. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE AIR INTAKE AND REPLACED IT AT NO CHARGE. SHORTLY AFTER MY INITIAL DRIVE IT DID NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS TO THE FLOOR. TODAY I ENTERED A BUSY INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND AFTER THE ON COMING TRAFFIC I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR BUT NO RESPONSE RPMS WERE STUDY BELOW 1000 LIKE IT WAS STILL IDLING. AFTER SEVERAL FUTILE ATTEMPTS PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL I PUT THE CAR IN PARK THEN BACK TO DRIVE HIT THE GAS BUT AGAIN NO ACCELERATION. AT THIS TIME I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION UNDER THE RED LIGHT. THERE IS ANOTHER CAR BEHIND ME THAT IS STUCK IN THE INTERSECTION AS WELL WHICH MAKES A HARD LEFT TO GET AROUND AND BARELY AVOIDS AN ACCIDENT. NOW WITH CARS ALL AROUND ME I BECOME ALMOST FRANTIC AND I AM A 52 YEAR OLD MAN WITH PLENTY OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE AND RARELY PANIC. I DECIDED TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT (YES IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION UNDER A RED LIGHT BLOCKING TRAFFIC I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT). IT TOOK OFF IMMEDIATELY. TONIGHT I READ A NISSAN FORUM WITH MANY OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS DESCRIBING SIMILAR INCIDENTS. THIS IS A VERY VERY SERIOUS FLAW IN THE ENGINEERING UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD AN AUTOMOBILE NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED WITHOUT SOME PRECURSOR EVENT TO WARN THE OPERATOR. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I WILL CONTACT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND ISSUE A COMPLAINT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE TOLL ROAD IN HOUSTON, MY VEHICLE LOST SPEED AND POWER GOING UP AN OVERPASS, AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON PRIOR TO THIS EVENT. I WAS ABLE TO CRANK THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT START. MY PASSENGER NEEDED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE HEAT (100 DEGREES), AND MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER. THIS DEALER INDICATED A DTCODE P0340, CAM SENSOR AND CRANK SENSOR FAILURE, AND REPAIRS TOTALED $765.93. RESEARCHING THIS FAILURE, I LEARNED THAT THERE WAS AN EARLIER RECALL OF MY EXACT VEHICLE FOR THIS FAILURE, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I DISCOVERED MANY, MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2003 MURANOS WITH VIN NUMBERS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. I AM REQUESTING VIA THIS COMPLAINT THAT THE RECALL OF 2003 MURANOS BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL VEHICLES WITH THE FAILURE CODE(S) RELATING TO THE CAM SENSOR/CRANK SENSOR. THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY WELD, AND ALTHOUGH NISSAN DENIES A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEIR EARLIER PRODUCTION FAILURES AND MY AUTO'S FAILURE, THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THEIR WELD. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON THE TOLLROAD BEFORE STALLING. WITH THE AVERAGE TOLLROAD SPEED WELL OVER 70 MPH, MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGER WAS IN QUESTION DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE BREAKDOWN. I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN OR ELDERLY PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 111,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD, DRAGGING METAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE VEHICLE AGE AND MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
NISSAN MURANO 2003. 3 MAJOR PROBLEMS. 1- SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AFTER DRIVING AND STOPPING (FOR EXAMPLE TRYING TO MAKE LEFT TURN OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT.) CAR DOES NOT RESPONSE AND MOVE VERY SLOWLY. (SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING ) PROBLEM EXIST SINCE HAS 65,000 FIXED AT 72000 MILES AND RECURRED AFTER 5000 MILES. (WHEN CAR TURNED OFF AND ON IT WILL WORK FINE FOR FEW MINUTES). WHEN THE CAR HAS AROUND 62000 I TOOK IT TO ORIGINAL DEALER AND FOR THE LOSS OF POWER PROBLEM AND THE SERVICE MANAGER CLAIMED THAT THE CAR HAS NO OIL. BUT THE SENSOR OF THE OIL NEVER SHOWED LOW ON OIL 2- CAR STOPS ALL THE SUDDEN FOR NO REASON. I OWN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. LAST AUGUST IT BEGAN LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. IT IS LIKE THE CAR IS BEING THROWN INTO 1ST GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED 12-18 TIMES OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS. THE CRAZY THING ABOUT THESE INCIDENTS IS THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS SHOW UP ON THE DASH NOR DOES THE CAR GIVE YOU ANY CODES INDICATING THAT ANYTHING WENT WRONG. TWO MONTHS AGO I TOOK IT TO RICK HILL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. HE HAD THE CAR A WEEK AND DROVE IT 66 MILES AND COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO DUPLICATE WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO ME. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WONT WORK ON THE CAR UNLESS IS HAS A CODE SHOWING UP TELLING THEM WHAT IS WRONG. THIS PAST WEEK, I ALMOST RAN OVER MY FAMILY AS I WAS WAITING ON THEM TO COME OUT OF A STORE. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE UP TO THE STORE TO PICK THEM UP WHEN THE CAR SURGED AND THE ENGINE STARTED RACING. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND THROW THE CAR IN PARK TO GET IT TO STOP. THE ENGINE AND RPM'S WERE STILL RACING AND 4,000 RPMS. NO CODES WERE THROWN AND NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH AGAIN. 20 MINUTES LATER AS WE WERE COMING HOME, THE CAR LOST POWER AS IF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND WE CREEPED ALL THE HOME AT 5 MPH, WITH ME HAVING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THIS TIME THERE WERE CODES, BUT WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE IPDM. 825 DOLLARS FOR THE FIX. 51 MILES LATER THE CAR SLIPS AGAIN AND ACTS LIKE IT IS THROWN INTO FIRST GEAR. NO LIGHTS, NO CODES. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE 2003 MURANO I HAVE NO DOUBT THIS IS THE PROBLEM. THIS DEFECT HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN MANY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IN THE PAST YEAR. I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND 14 MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. WARRANTY WAS FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST. I WAS OVER BY 2 MONTHS BUT MILEAGE WAS UNDER. THEY QUOTED ME ADDITIONAL $3,000 TO FIX. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE NEW SWAY BAR HAD STEEL BUSHINGS THAT WERE WELDED IN PLACE SO THEY COULD NOT MOVE. THERE ARE MANY REASONS THAT CARS HAVE SWAY BARS, BUT THE MAIN REASON IS THAT WHEN A DRIVER HAS TO MAKE AN EVASIVE TURN THE SWAY BAR PREVENTS THE CAR FROM ROLLING OVER. THE REPAIR SHOP CALLED AND SAID OUR CAR HAD A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND THEY WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY PRINTED OUT THE RECALL AND TOLD ME TO CALL NISSAN TO HAVE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF HAVING TO PAY MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. I CALLED OUR NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND REPORTING MY PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THE VIN OF MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE VOLUNTARY RECALL. I SAID IF I HAVE THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED WHY WOULD YOU NOT FIX IT-- ITS NOT SAFE! LONG STORY SHORT - I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALSO CONFIRMED THAT MY CAR HAS THE PROBLEM BUT THAT NISSAN WILL NOT FIX. I FIND THIS HORRIBLE AND NEED YOUR HELP. *TR
DIPSTICK IS UNREADABLE, AS A RESULT I HAVE CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 1500MILES INSTEAD OF 3000, BECAUSE IF I WAIT TILL 3000 MILES THERE IS ONLY A QUART TO QUART AND HALF LEFT IN THE ENGINE, THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT NEVER REPORTED, ALTHOUGH I DID TELL THE AUTODEALER REPAIR CENTER ABOUT IT AND GOT NO RESPONSE. *TR

2003 NISSAN MURANO VISOR FALLS DOWN WHILE DRIVING BLOCKING VISION. WE HAD THE VISOR REPLACED IN 2005, AND THE SECOND ONE IS DOING THE SAME THING IT FALLS DOWN AT THE SLIGHTEST BUMP IN THE ROAD. *TR
