CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS MISSING AS IT WAS DRIVEN. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE #1 CYLINDER HAD NO COMPRESSION. THIS IS WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT. IT ENDED UP NEEDED A VALVE JOB - $3,200. WHEN THEY TOOK OFF THAT PART OF THE ENGINE TO HAVE IT MACHINED, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND THE FRONT ONE WAS ABOUT TO FAIL. IN THE CASE OF THE CYLINDER ISSUE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUE I WAS ABLE TO VISUALLY SEE AND CONFIRM WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. THEY SAID THAT THE PIECES OF THE FAILED REAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER MORE THAN LIKELY GOT SUCKED BACK INTO THE CYLINDER, SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF IT AND CAUSING THE COMPRESSION LOSS. SINCE THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND IT WAS UNDER THE 8YEAR/80,000 LIMIT I CALLED NISSAN LOOKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT ON AT LEAST THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS COST. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 2011, WHICH IS EIGHT YEARS, BUT THAT IT WASN'T COVERED BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY BE COVERED IF THERE WAS A RECALL. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE EPA FACT SHEET EPA420-F-96-020 SAYS. I WILL TRY TO CONTACT ANOTHER NISAN LOCATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME OR TRANSFER ME TO ANYONE ELSE. SO I NEEDED A VALVE JOB AND TWO NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS BECAUSE OF THIS. AT THIS POINT, THE OLD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
ON 14 SEP 09 TOOK CAR (03 NISSAN MURANO) INTO LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO FIGURE OUT WHY DRIVER SIDE SEAT WHEN SITTING ON THE SEAT WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. INITIALLY I THOUGHT THAT A SPRING IN THE SEAT HAD WORN OUT; BUT I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE RAIL SYSTEM THAT THE SEAT WAS FIXED TO HAD CRACKED AND THE COST WOULD BE $800.00 TO REPAIR. HOW DOES A STEEL RAIL SYSTEM CRACK? I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY THE NISSAN SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS WAS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE SEAT WAS NOT SECURELY FASTENED AND WOULD ROCK FROM SIDE TO SIDE. *TR
AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES DRIVING I GET A LAGGING ISSUE WHERE I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AFTER A COMPLETE STOP AND NOTHING HAPPENS, THEN ALL OF SUDDEN AFTER 5 SECONDS THE CAR ACCELERATES DANGEROUSLY! MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR AND SHE'S DRIVING WITH OUR BABY. I'M AFRAID THAT ONE DAY THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN, AND SHE WOULD ACCELERATE AFTER THE LAGGING ISSUE ONLY TO HIT SOMEONE IN FRONT OF HER AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I'M ALSO AFRAID WHEN SHE TRIES TO MAKE A LEFT TURN DURING THE LAG SOMEONE MIGHT HIT HER CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS MANUFACTURE NEED TO RECOGNIZE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THEY NEED TO HAVE A SAFETY RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. *TR
WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR WHEN THE CAR WARMS UP, THERE IS A HESITATION WHEN THE AS PEDAL IS PRESSED. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS EVERYDAY WHEN PICKING UP OUR CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL. TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $6500 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
IN STOP AND GO CITY TRAFFIC, AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING WHEN YOU IDLE YOU STEP ON THE GAS AND NOTHING THEN AFTER 5-7 SECONDS IT PROPELS FORWARD WITHOUT CONTROL. LATE ONE NIGHT IS ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE AS I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WHEN I DEPRESSED THE GAS IT CRAWLED TO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND JUST STOPPED FOR A FEW SECONDS A CAR WAS COMING AND ALMOST HIT MY WIFE ON PASSENGER SIDE. PLEASE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE. WHEN I PURCHASED MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO IN 2006, IT WAS 3 YEARS OLD. THREE WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE, I HAD PROBLEM WITH THE CAR JERKING AND CUTTING COMPLETELY OFF. I TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN BUT THEY SAID THE PART WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAD THE SIMILAR PROBLEM AGAIN A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND IT WAS WORKED ON AND RUNNING AGAIN. ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29TH, WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, I WAS IN THE TURNING LANE AND IT WENT DEAD. A MAN STOPPED AND CAME OVER TO ASSIST ME AND HE SAID HIS MOTHER HAD THE SAME CAR AND IT DID THE SAME THING SOMETIMES. HE GOT THE CAR STARTED FOR ME AFTER CUTTING IT OFF FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. HE DROVE BEHIND ME TO MAKE SURE I GOT WHERE I WAS GOING. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON A LEMON. WE NEED HELP FROM YOU WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A NISSAN MURANO 2003, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE CAR STALLS WHEN I PRESS ON GAS IT TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS OR SO TO ACCELERATE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, ONE TIME EARLIER THE CAR STALLED STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED PERHAPS A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN TO NISSAN DEALER SEVERAL TIMES MORE THEN 4 WITH THE SAME ISSUE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ISSUES. THE LATEST TIME I WENT TO NISSAN THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION PERHAPS, THIS IS A FAULTY CAR AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
WHILE GAS PEDAL APPLIED CAR STOPPED GOING--ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING--PULLED TO SIDE OF FREEWAY--STILL IN DRIVE -CAR WOULD JUST IDLE WHEN GAS PEDAL APPLIED--PUT IN PARK TURNED OFF-RESTARTED CAR PUT IN DRIVE AND GAS PEDAL WORKED-TOOK TO DEALER-SAID COME BACK IF HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
DRIVING ALONG ROAD AT 40 MPH AND CAR JUST CUT OUT, LOSS POWER . THIS HAPPEN A FEW TIMES AND ALSO HAD PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES. NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PART FOR 630,000 NISSAN MURANO'S BUT MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT ONE OF THEM . I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW NISSAN CAN ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING A PORTION OF THE CARS OUT THERE WHEN I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND THIS HAPPENS TO ME AND THEY WILL FIX OTHERS BUT MY WIFE MAY DIE IN A CAR CRASH BECAUSE NO ONE RECALLS THE CAM SENSORS ON ALL OF THE 2003 NISSAN MURANO'S INSTEAD OF JUST SOME. I OWN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO SL WITH ABOUT 101,000 MILES. I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO AND I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS. THEY WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND I'VE HEARD FROM MY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M CONCERNED THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR FIRE, MY WIFE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS IN A TIMELY MANNER TO ESCAPE THE CAR. 2003 NISSAN MURANO (2 WD) HESITATES WITH NO RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE AT LOW SPEED. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN OR IN TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 3 OR 4 SECONDS, THE CAR LURCHES VIOLENTLY FORWARD. PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONSISTENT FOR THE PAST YEAR. CAUSES DIFFICULT AND UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION IN GOOD OR BAD WEATHER (WHEELS WILL SPIN VIOLENTLY WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE ROAD AS THE CAR FINALLY RESPONDS TO THE THROTTLE INPUT AFTER 3 OR 4 SECONDS). FINALLY HAD ENOUGH AFTER DRIVING IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC IN NYC YESTERDAY AND ALMOST REAR-ENDING THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES! *TR
2003 NISSAN MURANO. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. I'VE HAD MY MURANO FOR ABOUT 2.5 YEARS, AND FOR THE PAST 1.5 YEARS HAVE HAD ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. AFTER PUSHING ON THE GAS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, THE ENGINE DOESN'T RESPOND, BUT THEN IT SURGES FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE I'VE BEEN SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE WILL STALL, CAUSING ME TO BE STUCK WITH THE ENGINE NOT RESPONDING - EVEN THOUGH I'M PUSHING ON THE GAS. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 4 DIFFERENT MECHANICS, INCLUDING 2 NISSAN DEALERSHIPS, AND NONE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THERE SEEM TO BE CERTAIN THINGS THAT FIX IT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND THEN IT RETURNS JUST A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER. I'VE READ ONLINE AND THIS PROBLEM IS NOT AN ANOMALY. MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORTUNATELY, I AM SELLING MY CAR, BUT LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIR AND DIAGNOSTIC TIME BECAUSE NO ONE COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS LEMON. LESS THAN 5000 MILES AGO, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE BODY SHOP, THEY FLUSHED THE TRANNY FLUID, AND IT SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE FOR THE NEXT 5000 MILES. NOW, I AM HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. SINCE IT IS A SPECIAL TRANNY (CVT), IT WOULD COST ANYWHERE BETWEEN $5000-6500 TO REPLACE IT, WHICH IS MORE THAN HALF OF WHAT THE CAR IS WORTH. BESIDES THAT, I'VE READ ON BLOGS THAT SOME PEOPLE GET THE TRANSMISSION FIXED, AND THEN THEY CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM! FORTUNATELY, I AM SELLING MY MURANO DUE TO A BIG MOVE, BUT I HAD TO TAKE A LOSS ON IT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO OWN THIS ISSUE. *TR
CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO WITH 85000 MILES. NISSAN REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
THE SOLENOID PRESSURE VALVE IN MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO FAILED AT 81,100 MILES. IT RUNS FINE ON THE HIGHWAY BUT WHEN YOU TRANSITION TO CITY DRIVING AT EACH STOP IT WILL LOOSE POWER AND THE CAR WILL BARELY COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, THEN IT WILL CATCH AND ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING SINCE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON. I TOOK IT TO 2 OTHER AUTO REPAIR PLACES WHO WERE ABLE TO RETRIEVE INFORMATION STORED ON THE COMPUTER, WHICH STATED IT WAS THE SOLENOID PRESSURE VALVE (THE LIGHT WAS STILL NOT ON AT THIS POINT). I LEARNED FROM SEVERAL MECHANIC SHOPS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE BUT THEY DO NOT MAKE THE PART THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED, THEY ONLY SELL A "VALVE BODY KIT" AND QUOTED ME $2000 FOR THIS REPAIR. HOWEVER, THEY ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS A 25-50% CHANCE THAT THIS REPAIR WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE AND I WOULD THEN HAVE TO FULLY REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR AN ADDITIONAL $5000+. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO INJURIES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT ONLY REQUIRES AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF MONEY TO FIX IT. I MADE A LARGE INVESTMENT IN NISSAN BASED ON THEIR REPUTATION FOR RELIABILITY AND HAVE BEEN GREATLY LET DOWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE DID NOT PICK UP SPEED AFTER A STOP. APPROXIMATELY TEN SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FREQUENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V169000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO HAS BEEN STALLING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS BEFOREHAND. LAST WEEK, THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY WHICH COST ME $189. THIS WEEK, MY MURANO IS STILL STALLING. NOW, THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED A NEW AIR FLOW METER AND SPARK PLUGS WHICH WILL COST ME $821.64. THAT'S MORE THAN $1,000 IN TWO WEEKS ON A CAR THAT'S 6 YEARS OLD WITH 80,000 MILES! NOT TO MENTION THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT AROUND $60,000... AND NUMEROUS OTHER REPAIRS. NISSAN IS A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT....AND I'M ABSOLUTELY FED UP WITH IT. *TR
CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN 2003 NISSAN MURANO. CAR WILL NOT MOVE WHEN STEP ON ACCELERATOR, THEN SUDDENLY LURCHES FORWARD AT MUCH HIGHER THAN ANTICIPATED SPEED, ESPECIALLY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS IS DANGEROUS, AS I HAVE NEARLY RUN INTO SEVERAL CARS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN REQUIRES REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FOR $5,000 AT CAR OWNER'S EXPENSE - THIS IS AN UNAFFORDABLE REQUIREMENT FOR SAFETY. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THE CARS AND FIX THIS SAFETY HAZARD!!! *TR
2003 MURANO - DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR SUDDENLY BECAME "SPRUNG", AND WILL NO LONGER STAY IN THE UP OR DOWN POSITION. VISOR JUST DANGLES, CAUSING OBSTRUCTED VISION.. *TR
FRONT DRIVERS SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET HAS BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES BECAUSE IT ROCKS WHEN DRIVING AND/OR STOPPING. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT CAN VERY EASILY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DEATH TO THE DRIVER AND POSSIBLE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT THE DRIVERS LOSES COMPLETE CONTROL IF THIS SEAT BRACKET BREAKS. I JUST HAD IT REPLACED AGAIN, AND IT HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN HAS OBVIOUSLY MADE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND KEEPS INSTALLING THE SAME DEFECTIVE TYPE WHEN A CUSTOMER BRINGS IT BACK FOR REPAIR. ALL DEALERS CONSIDER THIS A PROBLEM BUT, THEY ALSO EXPRESS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO IF THEY KEEP GETTING DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT PARTS.. IE: OLD STOCK. *TR
JUST OVER TWO YEARS AGO THE AUTOMATIC DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK BECAME UNRELIABLE. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE DOOR MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED OR UNLOCKED. THE SITUATION SEEMS TO BE EXACERBATED BY HEAT AND DIRECT SUNLIGHT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. MY CONCERN IS THAT NOT KNOWING IF THE DOOR IS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND IN THE EVENT OF A NEED FOR QUICK EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE. SIMPLY LOOKING AT THE MANUAL LOCKING SWITCH CAN BE DECEPTIVE BECAUSE IT WILL MOVE INTO THE LOCKED POSITION WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LOCK. FOR SAFETY REASONS I PREFER TO DRIVE WITH THE DOORS LOCKED. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT INCREASED RISK OF CARJACKING, INJURY, THEFT, ETC. HAVING THE DOORS LOCK CORRECTLY IS A BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTION. ADDITIONALLY, IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. IN THIS AUTOMATED AGE WE TEND TO RELY ON THE AUTOMATED SYSTEMS OF OUR VEHICLES AND IT'S UNFAMILIAR TO RESORT TO THE MANUAL LOCKING SYSTEM, WHICH AS I EXPLAINED ABOVE CAN BE DECEPTIVE. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. THE DEALER CHARGES AN AVERAGE OF $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED WHICH AMOUNTS TO MAKING THE OWNER PAY FOR A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. AT THIS PRICE MANY WILL FORGO GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND REPAIR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *KB
MY PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I WAS TOWING A TRAILER.AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR OF TRAVELING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT HIGH SPEED 50 TO 55 MPH, I WOULD NOTICE A DRASTIC LOSS OF POWER. I WOULD BE IN THE PASSING LANE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE AND I WOULD LOSE POWER TO THE POINT I WOULD HAVE TO DECELERATE AND BACK OFF AND GET BACK IN BEHIND THE SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. THIS WOULD CREATE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE FAST MOVING HIGHWAY. I WOULD HAVE TO THEN PULL OVER AND STOP TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO COOL AND I COULD THEN CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER HALF HOUR OR SO. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIPS IN FORT MYERS FLORIDA AND CLEARWATER FLORIDA BUT THEY WERE NEVER ABLE TO DIAGNOSE MY PROBLEM. I SOLD MY TRAILER TO AVOID THE DANGER OF TOWING. ...THEN MORE RECENTLY I STARTED EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITHOUT TOWING A TRAILER...WHEN ENCOUNTERING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON AN EXPRESSWAY MY MURANO WILL NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL FOR ABOUT AN INCH OR TWO THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD ALL AT ONCE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IF I AM NOT CAREFUL I COULD REAREND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, AT A TIME WERE TRAFFIC WAS NO SO BUSY. AT THE TIME OFF THIS INCIDENT MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. I HAD THE REPAIR MADE AND THE CAR IS RUNNING FINE NOW. WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT YOUR DATABASE I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2003 NISSAN MURANO FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED TO ME. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER FOR THAT RECALL WAS 03V455000. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD MY CAR DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL AS IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN A DIFFERENT PLANT THAN RECALLED VEHICLES. ANY WAY I WANT TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AS I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO BEGAN DRIVING FUNNY. IT SEEMED LIKE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR WHEN I ACCELERATED. THE DAY BEFORE WE WERE SCHEDULED TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIR, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. WE FIRST TOWED THE CAR TO FIRESTONE, NOT KNOWING IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. FIRESTONE WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE CAR, AND THE CAR WAS SENT TO NISSAN, WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAD ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT, AND THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE FAILED. THEY THEN TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER WHO SAID THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 1800$ PLUS LABOR. THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY CHANGED THEIR MINDS AND THEY CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THIS PART WITHOUT ME SIGNING A WAIVER WASHING THERE HANDS IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR AGAIN. BASICALLY NOT WARRANTING THEIR WORK OR THE PART. THEY ALSO COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD HAPPEN TO GO OUT AGAIN AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES. SO AT THE DEALER THE CAR SITS. 4. TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS DIAGNOSED THE CAR AS NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT AT A COST OF $6000. *TR

THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE AND TOTAL REPAIR COST $650. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE. DEALER ADVISED THAT DUE TO THE LEAK, VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, REQUIRING ME TO PAY FOR A RENTAL UNTIL THEY COULD ORDER THE PART AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. *TR
