Braking locked looses power then accelerates smell like gas is leaking
Driver seat front left side has a rocking motion to it. I’ve read a lot of others have found this issue was supposed to be fixed from 2003-2004 and the parts have been updated to address the issue. I am worried my seat movement will create an unsafe driving condition.
Rear subframe where it connects to shock mounts is completely rusted through at both sides of the car. Causes the tops of the wheels to bow in and is undrivable
The rear k frame rusted out ,all of a sudden the vehicle started swaying out of control on gravel or wet roads, no rust on the vehicle except the rear k frame, I parked the vehicle because it's unsafe to drive , I understand that this is a problem that effects more than just mine and I hope it's recalled or something is done about it, thank you for looking into it
Rear subframe broke Confirmed by a mechanic
I’ve changed the timing belt, brakes, batteries, fuel injectors and all and still after thirty minutes of me driving Nissan Murano 2004 I have to continuously push on the gas to get the car to move . My car always has a smell of burning rubber after a long period of time driving it . I then pull over for 20/25 minutes to let the car reset or cool down I guess and then when I turn it on it drives ok until the next 25/30 minutes go by. I’ve gotten two alternators brand new and I’m still having the same issues . When I slow down to come to a full stop it feels like my car is jerking on a chain slowly. When I put the car in neutral to come to a stop it doesn’t make the car tremble . I hope and pray I can get some answers or help to guide me in the right direction . I’ve spent over $2000 in labor to this car to still have the same problem.
My alternator has failed and I see where there was a recall on 2004 nissan murano for alternator/generator but its not showing a recall when I put my Vin in but it's doing exactly what it describes.
Alternator went out this is the third one. I looked up the recalls on my car and there happened to be one on the alternator and I’ve reached out to Nissan dealership of Bakersfield and havnt received a response
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING THE ABS AND BATTERIES WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LOST POWER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE WIRES TO THE ALTERNATOR HAD MELTED AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE TECHNICIAN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN NAMED IN 4 RECALLS BUT MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T INCLUDED IN ANY OF THEM WHEN I TAKE IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP EVEN THOUGH EVERY RECALL THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED IS WHAT HAS BEEN EITHER A RECURRING ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE OR SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN STARTING TO SHOW SOME SYMPTOMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V319000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
THE REAR CHASSIS SEVERELY RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM TO BREAK OFF CAUSING THE WHEEL TO SEVERELY SIT AT AN OFF-ANGLE. RENDERING THE CAR INOPERABLE AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN FOR FEAR OF TIRES FLYING OFF. PURCHASED AT $6000 W/84,000 MILE CAR NOW HAS ONLY 113,000 MILES.THE CAR BODY AND THE INTERIOR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. SON RARELY USED THE CAR WHILE AT COLLEGE AS HE LIVED ON CAMPUS. NOW HE HAS NO CAR AS THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND INOPERABLE. SEEN A LARGE NUMBER OF RUSTED COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING NISSAN AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. HE HAD THE CAR ONLY 3 YRS.
THE VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING FOR NO REASON ALL THE CARS DASH LIGHTS LIGHT UP THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER GAUGES GO DOWN TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE WILL GO FORWARD AT IDLE SPEED WHILE IN DRIVE THE POWER STEERING GETS EXTREMELY STIFF AND THIS HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY! I HAD MY GREAT NIECES IN THE CAR WE WERE GOING 73 WHEN THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO BASICALLY ACT LIKE IT STALLED BUT WAS STILL RUNNING WE ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI WE WERE SITTING DUCKS ON A FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. MY HAZARDS WOULDN'T EVEN WORK. I HAD TO SHIFT THE CAR OFF TURN IT BACK OK AND WHEN I DID IT ACCELERATED REALLY FAST ON ITS OWN AND I COULDN'T STEER IT WAS CONSTRUCTION AREA WE CAME INCHES FROM HITTING A CONCRETE BARRIER. I FINALLY GOT IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SHAKING AND SCARED OUT OF MY MIND MY GREAT NIECES WERE CRYING 😢 AS THE SEMIS ARE FLYING BY US AND ONE HAD TO SLAM ON HIS BREAKS TO TRY NOT TO RUN INTO US NEARLY KILLING US PLEASE FIGURE THIS OUT AND FIX THIS ISSUE. MY REAR CRADLE SUBFRAME CROSSMEMBER BOLTS ARE RUSTED AND HAVE SNAPED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT I HEARD IT POP AND PULLED OVER, THE METAL USED ON THE REAR CRADLE WAS POORLY MADE AND IS A HIGH DANGER RISK IF I WOULD HAVE PULLED OVER IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS THIS ISSUE NEEDS ADDRESSED HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER WHO OWN THIS SAME VEHICLE AND THEY ALL ARE HAVING THE SET ISSUE WITH THE REAR CRADLE SUBFRAME CROSSMEMBER THEY ARE RUSTING OUT SOME DOESN'T HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS AND ARE DRIVING THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE ENGINE JERK THREE TIMES STALLED SLIDE AND LANDING INTO A TREE THEN STARTED TO SPIN AND FLIP OVER FIVE TIMES AND LANDED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SON AND HIS FRIEND WHICH WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER WERE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SON SUSTAINED SCARF TO THE FACE, HARMS AND LEGS, HIS LEGS WAS FRACTURE AND HIS SKIN WAS OFF HIS FACE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, DAMAGE LIVER AND A CRACK KNEECAP BOTH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, IT WAS STALLING AND THE ENGINE WAS JUMPING. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V169000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.*DT*JB

CAR STALLS OUT WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE LOST BRAKE AND POWER STEERING. CAN CAUSE A WRECK.
THE VEHICLE KEEPS DYING WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, IT AUTOMATICALLY DYES OUT. I HAVE THE ALERTNATOR REPLACE AND IT KEEPS DYING OUT. I ALREADY SPEND CLOSE TO 487.00 FOR THE PEICE, GETTING IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND GETTING IT FIX. THE ALTERNATOR STILL DIES OUT.
IM DRIVE THIS SOMETIME ACCELERATE BY HIMSELF NOBODY HIT GAS PEDAL ACCELERATE 3000 RPM BY HIMSELF. *TR
I HAVE PUT 4 ALTERNATORS ON IN LAST 4 MONTHS AND NOW IT IS STUCK IN SECURITY IMMOBILIZE MODE AND WON'T DO NOTHING THIS SAFETY MOAD IS 3 TIME IT'S DONE IT AND WE CAN'T GET IT OUT IT WON'T EVEN GET FUEL TO START BECAUSE OF BEING STUCK IN SECURITY MODE AND THE KEY FOB WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO AND WHEN IT WENT INTO THIS MODE IT WAS PARKED BUT RUNNING AND I HAD TO TOW IT HOME AND IT'S GETTING PRETTY EXPENSIVE
The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted on the first attempt occasionally; however, several attempts were needed to start the vehicle on other occasions. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while at a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the accelerator pedal had been discontinued. The contact stated that the independent mechanic replaced the accelerator pedal with a part purchased from a junkyard; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY CAR DRIVES SHORT DISTANCE AND JUST STOPS ACCELERATING AND THAN WON'T START BACK UP UNLESS JUMPED. WILL NOT DRIVE A MILE WITHOUT GOING LIMP AND NO ACCELERATION
MY WIFE WAS LEAVING THE HOUSE I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN SHE LEFT . I NOTICED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS TOE OUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST ME . WHEN SHE RETURNED IT WAS TOE OUT ON RIGHT SIDE AND TOE IN ON LEFT SIDE. PULLED RIGHT REAR TIRE OFF UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION FOUND THE SUB FRAME TO BE ROTTED THRU AT THE LATTERAL ARMS. I HAD TO CLEAN AREA AS BEST AS POSSIBLE TO WELD A SMALL STEEL PLATE TO IT SO MY WIFE COULD STILL GO TO WORK ,GOOD THING WE A FEW MILES AWAY SO SHE DROVE ON CITY STREETS TO STAY OFF HIGHWAY DUE TO SPEEDS.NOW THE CAR SITS IN THE BACK YARD,REMOVED PLATES CAR IS USELESS FOR SCRAP AND TO MUCH TO PAY FOR REPAIRS.WAITING TO SEE IF NISSAN IS GOING TO MAKE RIGHT WITH THIS ISSUE, TO ISSUE A RECALL. THAT WAY AFTER THE RECALL I CAN RE-REGISTER THE VEHICLE.
CONSTANTLY STALLS WHILE BEING DRIVEN. HAS TO BE RESTARTED MULTIPLE TIMES
MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS, FOR 3 TIMES NOW MY DOORS HAVE LOCKED WHILE RUNNING AND THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. MY CAR LOCKED MY GRANDSON, WHICH IS 6 YEARS OLD IN, AND THE LAST TIME WAS YESTERDAY ON 10/09/2019. MY HUSBAND HAD TO BREAK THE WINDOW TO GET IN THE CAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. MY DOORS AREN'T SUPPOSE TO BE LOCKING THEMSELVES. I NEED ANSWERS FOR THIS SITUATION

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A FEW WEEKS AGO SAYING CYLINDER FIVE IS MISS FIRING. I REPLACED EVERYTHING THAT I COULD AND CYLINDERS ARE STILL MISFIRING. IT'S CAUSING MY CAR TO JERK AND WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE STOP AND START TO GO IT TAKES MY CAR A MINUTE OR SO TO START GOING. AND ALSO WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO SPORTS MODE IT DOES NOT SHIFT
THE REAR CRADLE IS RUSTING THAT WILL LIKELY RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE TO REPLACE. THIS NISSAN MURANO HAS LESS THAN 140,000 MILES AND THE REST OF IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY!

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
I WAS TURNING ON A HIGHWAY LOOP AND I'M SHORT SO I HAD THE SEAT ALL THE WAY UP TO BE ABLE TO SEE. WHEN I STARTED TURNING THERE WAS A BUNCH OF CARS BEHIND ME AND THE BACK OF THE SEAT MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND I HIT MY HEAD ON THE WINDOW BECAUSE THE BACK RIGHT OF IT GAVE OUT. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GOT MY SELF TOGETHER. THIS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER COWORKER WITH ANOTHER NISSAN MURANO BUT SHE HAD LESS PROBLEMS SINCE SHE'S A TALL WOMAN AND WHEN THE SEAT BROKE IT DIDN'T GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. LOOKING AT THE SEAT THE BACK RIGHT OF IT HAS A BIG METAL BAR PIECE THAT SNAPPED. IT NO LONGER GOES ALL THE WAY UP MAKING IT A HAZARD TO DRIVE WITHOUT GETTING IT FIXED. * DSY
MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO JERKS TO THE LEFT SIDE AS YOU GIVE IT GAS AND DRIVING. IT JUST JERKS ON IT'S OWN AND HEADS IN THE DIRECTION OF ANYTHING OR OBJECT THAT'S ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAD A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT AND TOLD THAT WAS ALL IT WAS AND BY REPLACING IT THAT IT WOULD STOP DOING THE JERKING. I CHANGED THE MOTOR MOUNT, WHICH NEEDED REPLACED ANYWAY, BUT IT DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN PUT YOU INTO ANOTHER CAR, DITCH, TREE, ETC.. I'VE SENT THIS PROBLEM IN BEFORE AND I'VE HAD NO RESPONSE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!! I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN MY CAR ALOT OF THE TIME AND IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO EVEN PUT THEIR LIVES, MY LIFE, AND OTHER CARS IN THE WAY OF THIS HAZARD. I COULD KILL MULTIPLE INNOCENT PEOPLE BY DRIVING MY CAR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THE PROBLEM HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. THE CAR WILL NOT START, ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON WHEN KEY IS TURN, CONSTANT FLASHING RED WITH A CAR SYMBOL WITH KEY IN THE MIDDLE.. CAR WILL NOT MAKE A SOUND.
STALLS: THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR STALLS AND THE PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY,(NOT SURE IF THE REPAIRS WAS REALLY DONE). THE STALLS ARE BECOMING WORSE!!!! PROBLEM: WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES AND IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP, (AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, IN CITY OR ANYWHERE) THE VEHICLE SPORADICLY STALL WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. IF THE ROAD HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE THE STALL IS MORE EMINENT, SO THAT THE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE EVEN WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE ONLY TWO THINGS THAT REMEDY THE SITUATION IS: A) PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE [VERY DANGEROUS->CITY DRIVING], B) TURN THE ENGINE OFF THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE [ALSO VERY DANGEROUS]. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 2007 BUT IT IS GETTING WORSE.

CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGH WAY. NO LIGHTS WERE ON. GAS STATION SAID CODE P0868 SHOWED. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. NISSAN KNOWING SOLD ME THIS CAR IN 2014 FOR OVER 10,000. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING THE BRAKE LIGHT, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED LIKE IT HAD NO POWER STEERING. PULLED OVER, PARKED, TURNED OFF CAR, WAITED A MINUTE. TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ALL DASH LIGHTS WERE OFF AGAIN. DROVE FOR A MILE TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT DID NOT. WHAT THE HELL, @NISSAN? I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THAT'S NOT SAFE FOR A CAR TO JUST TURN OFF LIKE THAT.
AUGUST 18, 2018 BOUT 9:50 PM, AFTER PASSING THREW NEW ALBANY ON MY WAY BACK TO MEMPHIS AFTER LEAVING STARKVILLE, MS. WHEN IT FELT LIKE MY NISSAN MURANO WAS LOSING POWER ON HIGHWAY 78 WITH ONE VEHICLE IN LEFT LANE BOUT CAR LENGTH BEHIND AND ANOTHER BOUT THREE CAR LENGTH BEHIND ME IN THE RIGHT LANE. I PULLED OFF ON RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD BOUT 100 YARDS FROM EXIT TO GLENFIELD AND OXFORD, MS. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY MOVE ABOUT 5 OR 7 MILES HOUR ALLOWING ME TO MAKE IT TO GLENFIELD/ OXFORD TURNOFF THEN JUST STOPPED WOULD NOT MOVE ANY FARTHER. CUTTING ON THE HAZARDOUS BLINKERS WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY POWER. A LADY STOPPED AND GAVE ME A BUS OFF BUT BATTERY DIED SHORTLY AFTER SHE LEFT. BEING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF NEW ALBANY I COULD ONLY TEXT ALLOWING ME TO TEXT MY SON WHO WAS ON HIS WAY FROM STARKVILLE AFTER HE GOT OFF WORK AT 10:30 PM. WHEN MY SON ARRIVED WE CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES GIVING THE MURANO ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE MILE OR MILE AND A HALF BACK TO NEW ALBANY WHERE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. WALMART WAS CLOSE BY WHERE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY ALLOWING ME TO MAKE 60 OR LESS MILES BACK TO MEMPHIS. THE BATTERY AND BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ON I CUT OFF ALL UNNECESSARY POWER. MONDAY MORNING I PLAN TO TAKE TO NISSAN DEALER AFTER LEARNING OFF RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.
SAME PROBLEM OF A RECALL CAMPAIGN OF A THROTTLE VALVE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS; ENGINE DOES NOT RESPOND WITH AN ACCELERATOR IN STOP & GO CONDITIONS. IT WAS/IS RESOLVED BY TURNING OFF IG AND RE-START.
CAR STALLED WHILE RUNNING ON CITY STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND, ON OCCASION, THE ENGINE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO STALLS WHEN DRIVING AND SITTING STILL. WHEN DRIVING MY CAR RESPONDS AS IF IT IS NOT RECOGNIZING ME PUSHING THE GAS AND THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT JUMPS TO GET GOING. LIKES ITS CATCHING UP TO THE SPEED AMOUNT I PRESSED WHEN PUSHING THE GAS. WHEN I AM SITTING STILL MY CAR DOES NOT MOVE IN IT STALLS IN ANY DIRECTION (MOVING FORWARD OR BACKWARD) FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN JERKS WHEN ITS READY. THIS MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, TURNING OR STATIONARY. WHENEVER THE CAR IS STARTED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER IS 09V169000 THIS REPORT EXPLAINS MY ISSUES WITH MY CAR EXACTLY.
I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME, ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH. WHEN IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN EVEN WHEN I WAS STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED TO WORK AGAIN PROPERLY. MY HOME WAS 20 MIN OR SO FROM WHERE I STARTED DRIVING. DURING THIS TIME THE SAME THING KEPT HAPPENING OF THE SPEED SLOWING DOWN AND NOT GOING UP EVEN WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR FOR A GOOD 4-5TIMES. UNTIL SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STOPPED WORKING. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A SAFE PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY. A MECNIC CAME TO SEE IT AND TOLD ME IT'S A BAD ALTERNATOR. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I SAW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY NISSAN MURANO OWNERS! IT'S SO DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT JUST STARTS TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY. I GOT LUCKY LIKE I MENTIONED AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE A SAFE STOP. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF I DIDN'T. I WAS PREGNANT AND HAD BOTH OF MY TODDLERS IN THE CAR!! I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL IF IT'S BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR WAS INSTALLED DEFECTIVE TO BEGIN WITH. I CALLED NISSAN AND THE LADY I SPOKE TO WAS NO HELP AT ALL SHE SAID BECAUSE MY CAR IS SO OLD THERE'S NOT MUCH THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT!? SERIOUSLY! I HAVE HAD OTHER CARS SAME AS OLD OR A FEW YEARS NEWER AND THAT NEVER PLAYED A IMPORTANT ROLE ON HAVING THE RECALL HONORED BECAUSE IT'S SOMEHING THAT MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PART ETC.
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR TRYING TO ACCLERATE THE REVS TO 3000 RPM AND NOT GAIN ANY SPEED, YOU HAVE PUSH AND LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO MAINTAIN ANY KIND OF FORWARD MOMENTUM THE CAR CAN MUSTER. I DONT KNOW WHY THE CAR WILL NOT GAIN ANY SPEED. THIS COULD BE A REAL SAFETY ISSUE ON A BUSY ROADWAY.I HAVE READ MANY OTHER POST ABOUT SIMILIAR ISSUE LIKE MINE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CVT ARE VERY UNRELIABLE AND NISSAN SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING FOR US CAR OWNERS, THE CAR ONLY HAS 91000 MILES ON IT AND THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE OCURRING IN SO MANY VEHICLES. THEIR SHOULD BE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE TO HELP THE OWNERS OUT. NISSAN KNOWS THAT THERE CVT TRANSMISSION ARE VERY FAULTY AND WILL NOT HOLD UP....
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING
ON MARCH 29, 2018 I SAT DOWN IN MY CAR AND FELT THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVE DOWNWARD FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHEN I GOT HOME I EXITED THE CAR AND GOT BACK IN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING BEING BROKEN OR OUT OF PLACE PRIOR TO THE 29TH OF MARCH. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, NOR HAS ANY ONE DRIVEN MY CAR BESIDES MYSELF. AS OF TODAY (APRIL 2, 2018) I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A MECHANIC FOR AN ESTIMATE AND WILL CHECK WITH ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP ON APRIL 3, 2018.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND REPLACED THE PART THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
I CONTACTED NISSAN ON 12/20/17 AFTER I DROVE MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO (PURCHASED 8/18) AND I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AS MY SON AND I WERE ON A COLLEGE TOUR. I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND WHEN I SHOWED HIM THE PROBLEM, HE WONDERED HOW I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WHEN THE BACK WHEELS WERE "TOED" INWARD. HE PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND TOLD ME THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS DISINTEGRATED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 124,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY HAD ME TAKE THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT. IT WAS AS MY MECHANIC HAD SAID, THE REAR SUB FRAME WAS COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED BY RUST, UN-DRIVABLE. THE FRONT SUB FRAME IS TOTALLY FINE, NO RUST. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN AND FROM ONE WEBSITE I HAVE FOUND APPROXIMATELY 10 OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEIR CARS; SOME THE SAME YEAR AND SAME MILEAGE. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS A STRANGE COINCIDENCE. I FEEL THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG BEYOND "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". NISSAN REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM AND THE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION THAT IS HAPPENING. IF THE SUB FRAME WOULD HAVE COLLAPSED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY SON, MYSELF AND GOD ONLY KNOWS WHO ELSE ON THE ROAD THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BY CAR PARTS FLYING ALL OVER THE ROAD. I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES OF THE CAR BUT THE MECHANIC KNOWS AND IT HAS TAKEN HIM A MONTH TO FIX MY CAR (STILL DON'T HAVE IT BACK) AND A 3500.00 PRICE TAG ON THE REPAIRS.
