I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO TO WORK ON FRIDAY 11/6/2009 WHEN ALL OF AN SUDDEN MY BOTTOM CROSS BAR TO THE DRIVER SIDE (LEFT SIDE) BROKE, CAUSING MY SEAT TO SWING LEFT TO RIGHT. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FALLING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. WON'T FALL ALL THE WAY DOWN-JUST ENOUGH TO BE IN LINE OF VISION. TALKED TO NISSAN ABOUT REPLACEMENT PARTS-NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND B/W $350-$425 TO REPLACE(NOT INCLUDING LABOR!) SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS-HIGH RISK FOR ACCIDENT-TRYING TO USE VELCRO AT THIS TIME TO KEEP IN PLACE-NOT REALLY WORKING!! JUST HIT 60,000MILES ON IT! *TR
ALL THE DOOR LOCKS ON MY '05 NISSAN MURANO DON'T WORK PROPERLY. THE PASSENGER DOORS HAVE TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY. THE LIFT GATE LOCK WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT ASSEMBLY BROKE FROM FRAME. *TR
WE OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO - THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR THE SWITCH - THEY REQUIRE A MANUAL UNLOCK - THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES FROM MY RESEARCH ONLINE - I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN SHOULD REPAIR AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. ALSO, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON - WE HAVE HAD THIS CHECKED, AND IT CONTINUES TO BE ON - THIS IS ALSO ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. OUR VEHICLE IS IN PERFECT CONDITION OTHERWISE. WE HAVE LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR
I HAVE NISSAN MURANO S 2005 , 60000 MILES. LATELY, DURING NORMAL DRIVING THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKE DOWN AND I HEARD POPPING NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH MY SEAT. RIGHT AFTER THAT IT STARTED ROCK SIDEWAYS. I DON'T THINK MY WEIGHT IS AN ISSUE HERE(160 LBS) BECAUSE I STARTED SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE NISSAN DEALER BUT THEY TOLD ME IT'S NOT RECALLED AND MY WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT. I'M PRETTY UPSET WITH THAT INFORMATION BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S NISSAN RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF THAT AND IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
INTAKE DUCT OF MY NISSAN MURANO SEPARATED FROM THE RESONATOR WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WE THEN HAD TO HAVE TOW THE A BODY SHOP AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. I THEN PAID THE CHARGES OUT OF MY POCKET, BUT A WEEK LATER AFTER THIS HAPPENED WE GOT A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE STATING THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING AND THAT I NEE IT TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH NISSAN ABOUT GETTING MY OUT OF POCKET MONEY BACK FOR THIS ISSUE SINCE OCTOBER AND THEY JUST KEEP GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. *TR
DRIVER SEAT BRACKET BROKE UNSAFE IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT OR QUICK BRAKING. WHY WOULD A SEAT BREAK SHOULDN'T LAST AS LONG AS THE CAR? DEALERS WON'T FIX AS A WARRANTY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 55 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER ANY RECALL AND THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THE SEAT BROKE. THE SEAT WAS REPAIRED ACCORDINGLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
DRIVER'S SEAT BRACKET IS BROKEN ON 2005 NISSAN MURANO. NO ABNORMAL USE. *TR
FRONT SEAT BROKEN ON DRIVER'S SIDE. THE FRONT SEAT DRIVER FRAME HAS BROKEN IN 2 PLACES MAKING THE SEAT A SAFETY HAZARD. MY WIFE AND I ARE THE ONLY DRIVERS OF OUR 2005 MURANO SE. IT HAS 6 WAY ELECTRIC SEATS. NOW WE HAVE TO LOWER THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STABILIZE THE SEAT. OTHERWISE THE SEAT ASSEMBLY & FRAME WILL END UP BREAKING COMPLETELY OFF AT THE FRAME. MY LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS HE'S NEVER SEEN A SEAT FRAME BREAK AT 2 PLACES LIKE OURS. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED NISSAN AS OF YET TO SEE IF THIS IS UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT BUT YOU WOULD THINK THE SEAT ASSEMBLY WOULD LAST FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. I WEIGH 230 POUNDS AND MY WIFE WEIGHS APPROX. 185 NO ONE HAS EVER DRIVEN OUR VEHICLE BUT US OTHER THAN GARAGE REPAIRMEN. I FOUND A WEB SITE THAT HAS A DETAILED DRAWING OF THE SEAT AND MECHANISM THAT IS BROKEN. THIS PART BOLTS DIRECTLY ONTO THE VEHICLE FRAME CHASSIS. THE PART IS BROKEN AT 2 PLACES ON THE FRONT CONNECTION. THE BREAKS ARE WHERE THE ROD CONNECTS TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF THIS PART. NISSAN MURANO DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BRAKES DID BROKE. *TR
AFTER BUYING A USED 2005 NISSAN MURANO FROM A CT DEALERSHIP, 8 MONTHS LATER MY DRIVER SEAT GUIDE WENT COMPLETELY BUST WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I STARTED FEELING MORE AND MORE LOOSE AS I DROVE AND ONCE I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY I WAS COMPLETELY THROWN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AT EVERY SLIGHT CURVE AS MY SEAT WAS COMPLETELY DETACHED ON ONE SIDE. EVEN ONCE I MADE MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP THE PART WAS NOT READY AVAILABLE, SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR IN THOSE CONDITIONS FEARFUL THAT THE SEAT MY COMPLETELY COME OFF AND I WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE REPAIR IS OVER $ 1,200, AND THE MANUFACTURER REFERS TO THE GUIDE FAILURE TO HOLD THE SEAT A "WEAR AND TEAR" ISSUE. I FOUND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE ALL OVER THE INTERNET FROM OTHER 4 TO 5 YEARS OLD MURANO OWNERS. EVEN THE SERVICE PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVE VOICED THEIR OPINION ABOUT THE PROBLEM INDICATING THAN NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WHAT'S NEXT? THE STEERING WHEELS COMING OFF THE DASHBOARD BECOMING A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AS WELL BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER DECIDES TO CUT SOME CORNERS? I SHOULD NOT HAVE SAT ON THE SEAT? THE TRUTH IS THAT THERE WAS NO EVENT LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF THE PART. NOT A BUMP, NOT A PUDDLE, NOT AN ACCIDENT, NOT AN ABRUPT STOP, NOT A FAST TURN. AND BY THE WAY, I WEIGH 185 POUNDS. HOW COME THE REST OF THE CAR IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW AND THIS PART IS COMPLETELY "WORN OUT'? IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE PART MAY BE DEFECTIVE AND UNRELIABLE? WHAT I KNOW IS THAT WITHOUT YOUR HELP I, THE CONSUMER, AM COMPLETELY POWERLESS WHEN IT COMES TO HOLDING COMPANIES LIKE NISSAN LIABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES. THE NHTSA SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR COMPANIES WILL DO THEIR MATH VERY CAREFULLY WHEN WEIGHING IN PROFITS VERSUS PRODUCT SAFETY. UNLESS THE MANUFACTURES ARE HOLD RESPONSIBLE AND LIABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES THEY WILL KEEP PUSHING FOR LOWER QUALITY PRODUCTS AND LESS RELIABLE PARTS THAT WILL KEEP FAILING AND ENDANGERING PEOPLE'S SAFETY AND COMFORT. *TR
DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO QUIT WORKING THROUGH KEY FOB, DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK IS TO PUT KEY INTO DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THEN MANUALLY UNLOCK ALL OTHERS, TO INCLUDE REAR HATCH. STARTED WITH FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND THEN MADE ITS WAY AROUND THE CAR ONE DOOR AT A TIME. TOOK CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM SO I DIDN'T PURSUE. WANTING NISSAN TO FIX BECAUSE APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. 2005 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. VISOR FALLS UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BE MOMENTARILY BLINDED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NISSAN NEEDS TO OFFER REPLACEMENT SPRING CLIPS TO KEEP THE VISOR OUT OF THE DRIVERS VISION. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP REGARDLESS OF THE POSITION IT IS IN AND CONTINUES TO FALL DOWN BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VIEW. IT FALLS DOWN UNEXPECTED WHILE DRIVING SUDDENLY BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC SIGNALS, ETC. I (AND MANY OTHER OWNER BASED ON BLOGS AND REVIEWS) HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN SEVERAL TIMES, FILED A COMPLAINT AND REQUESTED A RECALL, TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED IN EARLIER VEHICLES. UNDOUBTEDLY THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS AND NEAR MISSES DUE TO THIS OBSTRUCTION TO THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC FLOWS. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE CALLED TO GET THIS MATTER ADDRESSED ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MANUFACTURER IS WELL AWARE OF THE HAZARD IT CREATES AND THAT THE COMPONENT FAILURE HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE SINCE AT LEAST 2003. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH HE DROVE OVER A BUMP AND BOTH FRONT SUN VISORS FLIPPED DOWNWARDS. HE FLIPPED THE VISORS BACK UP INTO HOLDING POSITION, BUT AFTER DRIVING OVER ANOTHER BUMP THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR UNTIL THE VISORS WOULD NOT LONGER REMAIN UP IN THE HOLDING POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
FORTUNATELY, WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT, BUT THE DRIVERS VISOR ON NISSAN MURANO WILL NOT STAY UP OR DOWN, ITS "FLOPPY" AND IMPAIRS VISION WHILE DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO BE WIDESPREAD FROM READING ONLINE BUT NISSAN JUST WANTS TO SELL A NEW PART TO REPLACE IT, WHICH EVENTUALLY WILL DEVELOP THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT MADE A SNAP SOUND AND THEN TILTED. WHEN I CHECKED THE SEAT, I FOUND THAT I CAN ROCK IT SIDE TO SIDE. THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT IS SEPARATED FROM THE SEAT TRACK. IF I RAISE THE SEAT UP USING THE MOTOR, THE TILT BECOMES MORE SEVERE. IF I LOWER THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR, THE SEAT BACK AUTOMATICALLY FOLDS FORWARD, SO I AM SQUISHED IN THE SEAT. I AM WORRIED THAT MY SAFETY IS COMPROMISED BY HAVING THE DRIVER'S SEAT ONLY ATTACHED BY 1 TRACK & NOT THE 2 TRACKS AS IT IS INTENDED TO BE. IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT, MY SEAT HAS HALF THE ANCHORING ABILITY THAN IT WAS DESIGNED TO HAVE. THE NISSAN DEALER IS AWARE OF THIS COMPLAINT BUT SAID THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $900 REPAIR, SO I AM FORCED TO OPERATE MY MURANO WITH A COMPROMISED SAFETY SYSTEM. DUE TO THE 1) AMOUNT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, 2) FAILURE OF A SAFETY-RELATED SYSTEM, 3) COST OF REPAIR (WHICH IS CAUSING MOST CLAIMANTS TO OPERATE THE MURANO IN AN UNSAFE MANOR), AND 4) THE POTENTIAL FOR A LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN IF AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH OCCURS, NISSAN SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAVE FAILED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CANNOT LOCK NOR UNLOCK ALL MY DOORS WITH A TOUCH OF A BUTTON. ADDITIONALLY, THE KEY FOB DOES NOT WORK TO ALLOW ME TO UNLOCK DRIVERS DOOR SO IF THREATENED I WOULD BE UNABLE TO GET IN/ GET OUT OF AUTO QUICKLY. LIKEWISE THE POWERLOCK DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK ALL DOORS. ALSO THE REAR HATCH DOESN'T WORK RELIABLY DUE TO THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THE AUTO LOCKS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN HATCH. SHOULD AUTO GET A FLAT THERE WOULD BE NO ACCESS TO THE SPARE. THIS IS NOT ONLY A CONVENIENCE ISSUE BUT A REAL SAFETY ISSUE- IN THE INSTANCE OF A CARJACKING OR TO ESCAPE TO THE SAFETY OF MY CAR. I CANNOT EVEN CONTEMPLATE ALL THE SCENARIOS WHICH MAKE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE HOWEVER IT CLEARLY IS. *TR
SRS RESTRAINT SYSTEM INDICATOR CAME ON IN 4TH QUARTER 2009 AND WAS REFERRED TO FITZGERALD AUTO IN CHAMBERSBURG PA. NO RESOLUTION WAS DETERMINED AND DEALER RESET FAULT INDICATOR . RECENT 1ST QUARTER 2010: INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN AND HAVE SET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH SAME NISSAN DEALER . *TR
MY DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE IN THE SAME MANNER AS A NUMBER OF OTHER DRIVER'S. THERE IS PLENTY OF INSTANCES AVAILABLE THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO FIND A QUICK RESOLUTION TO THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2005 AND AM HAPPY TO SAY I AM HEALTHY ENOUGH TO NOT BE ON RECORD GUINNESS AS THE HEAVIEST PERSON THAT COULD BRAKE A CAR SEAT. BOTH THE DEALER (WESTON NISSAN, AT WESTON, FLORIDA) AND NISSAN DENIED MY CLAIM ON 9/24/2009. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO SL DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK SOLENOIDS BECOME WEAK AND WILL NOT LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE SOLENOIDS ARE PART OF THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. WHEN THE LOCK SOLENOIDS FAIL, THE DRIVER CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT THUS INTRODUCING THE POSSIBILITY OF "CAR JACKING" OR ASSAULT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO SE, THE DRIVERSIDE SEAT BROKE ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF THE SEAT CAUSING THE ME THE DRIVER TO SIT IN AN AWKWARD POSITION. THIS REPAIR IS SAID TO HAVE COST $750.00. I FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED DUE TO IT HAPPENING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO STEER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FOR NISSAN NOT TO CONSIDER THIS A RECALL IS MIND BOGGLING, THIS COULD HONESTLY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
ON SEPTEMBER 17, MY DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY OR WITH THE ACTUAL KEY. I CALLED NISSAN OF QUEENS TO STATE AGAIN THAT SOMETHING FRAUDULENT WAS DONE TO MY CAR SINCE MY INITIAL VISIT ON SEPTEMBER 4. THEY ADVISED ME TO COME IN TO "CHECK" THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, PAST EXPERIENCE LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT WILL BE TO "FIX" THE DOOR, CHARGE ME SOME RIDICULOUS AMOUNT, AND THEN CREATE ANOTHER MALFUNCTION. THIS NEW MALFUNCTION WILL HAVE ME COMING BACK THE NEXT WEEK FOR A REPEAT OF THIS FRAUDULENT SERVICE. MY CAR IS BREAKING DOWN BEFORE MY EYES AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN WOULD LET THIS HAPPEN TO A LOYAL CUSTOMER. AS YOU KNOW TAMPERING WITH MY CAR DOOR CAN BE HARMFUL TO MY PERSON IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: 1.HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2.THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH NISSAN LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. NISSAN MURANO 2005 DRIVER SEAT SUPPORT BRACKET BROKE. THE SEAT STARTED TO SHOW SOME MOVEMENT DURING TURNS AND STOPS WHILE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT DIALER REFUSED TO CHANGE ANYTHING CLAIMING THAT IT IS A NORMAL MOVEMENT. NOW THIS BRACKET FINALLY BROKE. AFTER LOOKING AT THE BRACKET DESIGN IT IS OBVIOUS THAT 1/8" THK BENT BRACKET WITH A CUT-OUT WHERE ONLY A TOTAL OF 3/4" OF WIDTH IS LEFT WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE SEAT FOR TOO LONG. METAL FATIGUES AND BRAKES. IT DID HAPPENED TO MY CAR ON 9/15/09 ON THE COUNTRY ROAD DURING THE RIGHT TURN. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO "CLAMP" ON MY STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID LOOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO SEAT FALLING BACK. ABOUT A WEEK AGO I SAT DOWN IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO AND HEARD A CRACK AND THE SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK. I LOOKED UNDER THE BACK OF THE SEAT AND NOTICED THE SEAT RISER HAD BROKEN.
