NISSAN MURANO 2005 FRONT DRIVER SEAT - FRAME BROKE AND NOW SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH - BROKE IN NORMAL USE - HAVEN'T FIXED YET AS VERY EXPENSIVE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE FOR NO REASON. SEAT FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO BROKE FOR NO REASON ON THE MOUNT THAT ATTACHES IT TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE ENTIRE SEAT TO SWAY WHEN ACCELERATING AND MAKING TURNS. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 65000 MILES AND IN SPITE OF IT BEING PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD, I BELIEVE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE THAT ARE DESIGN-RELATED AND PERTAINING TO SAFETY. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WON'T REPAIR IT SINCE NISSAN CORPORATION DECLINED TO PAY FOR IT. THEY HOWEVER INSIST THAT I GET THE ENTIRE SEAT FRAME REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1200 DOLLARS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS RECEIVED 3 CASES JUST LIKE THIS AND ONLY ONE OF THEM WAS ACCEPTED BY NISSAN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY RIGHTS ARE IN THIS CASE BUT A DEFECTIVE SEAT IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MOVING PARTS ON THE VEHICLE THAT WEAR WITH TIME. *TR
ONE OF THE FOUR MOUNTING POINTS ON THE DRIVER SEAT OF MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAS FAILED. THE REAR-OUTBOARD MOUNT HAS CRACKED AND BROKE IN TWO PIECES. THE DRIVER SEAT IS NO LONGER SAFELY SECURED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR. NUMEROUS MEMBERS OF THE NISSANMURANO.ORG WEBSITE HAVE REPORTED THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERS HAVE REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AND ARE ASKING FOR JUST OVER $1,000 TO FIX IT. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEAT ANCHOR WAS BROKEN. UPDATED 05/20/09.*JB
MESSAGE TO ALL NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS, DRIVERS SEAT IS BUILT ON A WELDED FRAME, AND EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS A REVERSE CAMERA WE ALL STILL TEND TO LOOK OVER OUR SHOULDERS TO CHECK WHIST REVERSING, (WHICH WE SHOULD!) PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE FRAME OF THE SEAT AND CAUSING IT TO BREAK THE SEAT WELDING AND CAUSING A MAL-FUNCTION WHICH IN THE MAJORITY OF CASES WILL NOT BE AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS, A FURTHER PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVERS DON'T REALIZE AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE, CREATING A MUCH GREATER DANGER. *TR

SEAT FRAME SEPERATION IN THE LEFT REARCORNER OF DRIVER SEAT. SEAT FRAME IS NOT CONNECTED WELDED JOINTS HAVE BROKEN. UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2005 IT HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BRACKET IS BROKEN, SO THAT SEAT IS NO LONGER STABLE PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SEAT FELL BACKWARDS WITH A LOUD SNAP. THE CONTACT SWERVED AND CROSSED INTO ANOTHER LANE. HE WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH. HE PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER TO CHECK THE SEAT AND NOTICED THAT THE SEAT METAL SUPPORT BRACKET WAS SPLIT IN HALF. THE DEALER IS CHARGING $932 FOR THE REPAIR. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 72,000.
BOUGHT 2005 NISSAN MURANO 8-08, HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS 1ST WEEK REPLACED BATTERY, 2ND WEEK ,LABOR DAY WEEKEND ALTERNATOR FAILED, HAD REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. TOOK 2 AND A HALF TO 3WEEKS IN SHOP . 3 WEEKS LATER THE REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR FAILED ALSO. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO W/ POWER DRIVER SEAT. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE SEAT ATTACH POINT ON THE LEFT REAR IS BROKEN DUE TO A BAD DESIGN. THE SEAT IS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT RAIL WITH APPROX. A 1 INCH X 1/2 INCH X.060 THICK SHEET METAL PART. THERE IS A 90 DEGREE BEND AT THIS POINT, AND THIS IS WHERE IT HAS BROKEN. I HAVE TAKEN PICTURE OF THE AREA IN QUESTION, AND CAN SEND IF NEEDED. WITH THE SEAT NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE SEAT RAIL AND THE CAR, IT NOW IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THIS PART BREAKS WITH NORMAL USE, I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN A MODERATE CRASH. HOW MUCH MORE BODILY INJURY IS THEIR WHEN THE SEAT IS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE CAR DURING THE COURSE OF A ACCIDENT VIEWING AUTO WEB SITES, I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY FROM A STOP, THE FRAME UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS THROWN INTO THE WINDOW AND DOOR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,422 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,389.
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AND THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN UP POSITION. WHEN YOU PUT IT IN UP POSITION IT JUST FALLS BACK DOWN BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. NISSAN SAYS THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM AND SINCE NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED THEY WILL CHARGE TO REPAIR. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAS A BROKEN FRONT SEAT FRAME. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT WILL COST ME $900 TO FIX. I HAD NOTICED A LOT OF "CREAKING NOISES" OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS AND THOUGHT IT WAS A SQUEAKY SPRING IN THE SEAT. I WAS GOING TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT DURING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT NEXT WEEK, BUT AS I WAS DRIVING YESTERDAY, THE SEAT BASICALLY CAME APART AND WAS ROCKING TO THE LEFT SIDE , ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AS I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN. IT FELT AS IF I WAS GOING TO FALL RIGHT OUT OF MY SEAT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR BASED ON THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT THEY CAN DO AND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HIS RESIDENCE; HOWEVER, THE SEAT CONTINUED TO SLIDE BACK AND FORTH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME FAILED AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED FOR LESS THAN $1,000. THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS ON MY VEHICLE HAVE STOP WORKING. I REPLACED THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK WHICH FAILED FIRST, BUT SINCE THEN THE OTHER DOOR LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE 2 VERY YOUNG CHILDREN AND I MUST MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE CABIN. I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I OR SOMEONE ELSE HAD TO GET THEM OUT IN AN EMERGENCY AND WE COULD NOT GET THE DOORS TO UNLOCK. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO CREAK AND MOVE WHEN TURNING. I HAVE LOOKED AT A COUPLE OF FORUMS AND THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ONE FOR THESE VEHICLES FROM THE YEARS 2003 TO 2006. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE VEHICLE MAY BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS SOME PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THAT THERE SEAT IS SHIFTING AROUND WHILE DRIVING. *TR
MY DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT NO LONGER OPERATES WITH THE POWERED SEAT ADJUSTMENTS, AND IS STUCK IN ONE POSITION. AT FIRST, IT WOULD VEER TO THE RIGHT, BUT NOW IS STUCK IN ONE POSITION THAT IS NOT THE BEST POSITION FOR ME, CAUSING ME CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY ON THE ROAD. WHEN I HAD IT LOOKED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE COST WOULD BE @ $1000. AS I RESEARCHED ON-LINE, I SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE VERY SAME THING. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED TO AVOID ACCIDENTS. *TR

EIGHTEEN MONTHS LATER, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE BATTERY FAILED AGAIN. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V319000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR), WHICH WAS IDENTICAL TO THE FAILURE SHE EXPERIENCED. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THEY CHANGED THE CAM SHAFT POSITION IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,400.

A METAL BAR UNDER THE REAR SECTION OF THE DRIVER SEAT THAT HELPS STABILIZE THE SEAT FOR ALL OF THE POWER FUNCTIONS BROKE WHEN I WAS SITTING IN IT. THE SEAT TAKES VERY LITTLE ABUSE AND THIS METAL FAILURE CAUSES THE SEAT TO MOVE FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHICH IS NOT SAFE AND COULD BE ANY ISSUES IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WELD ON AUTOMATED FRONT SEAT BROKE. THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. AN ACCIDENT WITH A LOOSE SEAT COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY FATAL. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER CHARGED SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLAR TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AND IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN DEFECT. *TR

DOOR LOCK FAILED TO PERFORM ON NISSAN MURANO 05 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR OF THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY DROPS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING VIEWING OBSTRUCTION. IT DOES NOT RELATE TO ROAD CONDITIONS (I.E. BUMPS OR OFF-ROADING), WEATHER (HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF HOT, COLD, OR NORMAL TEMPERATURE), OR ANY OTHER FACTOR. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH COUNTLESS VEHICLES AFFECTED. NISSAN NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. WHEN I ASKED A NISSAN DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT, I WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO THE WEARING OUT OF THE MECHANISM AND A NEW VISOR WOULD BE ~$300 (INCLUDING A $30 LABOR CHARGE, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING I'VE TAKEN APART THE VISOR MYSELF AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND I AM IN NO WAY MECHANICALLY INCLINED). VELCRO DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE LINING OF THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS CLOTH ~ THE VELCRO DOES NOT STICK SUFFICIENTLY. TRYING TO KEEP THE VISOR IN THE DOWN AND LEFT POSITION (AGAINST THE DRIVER'S WINDOW) BLOCKS THE VIEW OF TRAFFIC, AS DOES KEEPING IT IN THE DOWN AND FORWARD (AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD) POSITION. I ESSENTIALLY HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY LEFT HAND CONSTANTLY EITHER ON THE VISOR OR WITHIN REACH OF IT IN CASE IT STARTS TO DROP, LEAVING ME WITH ONE HAND TO DRIVE AND REACT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE, WHICH SEVERELY IMPACTS MY FAITH IN THEIR PRODUCTS. I HAVE DRIVEN TWO OTHER NISSANS (BOTH FRONTIERS) WITHOUT ISSUE; IT APPEARS THIS IS ONLY A MURANO ISSUE. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO GIVE UP MY CAR, WHICH I GREATLY LOVE IN EVERY OTHER WAY, BUT I CANNOT CONTINUE TO JEOPARDIZE MY OWN SAFETY AS WELL AS THAT OF MY FAMILY WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO THE SUPPORT LINKAGE FOR THE POWER SEAT HAS BROKE . SEATS DO NOT BREAK IN ACCIDENTS AND THIS SEAT BROKE DURING NORMAL USE. SEATS IN CARS NEVER BECOME DISCONNECTED FORM THE VEHICLE. *TR
WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON, THE POWER DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO BEGAN SLIGHTLY TILTING BACK AND FORTH, SIMILAR TO A ROCKING CHAIR MOTION. DEALER STATED THE WHOLE SEAT BASEFRAME NEEDS REPLACEMENT. COST OF REPAIR $800 PLUS. OF COURSE THE CAR HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT AND IS 4000 MILES OVER WARRANTY. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH AN ITEM NEEDING REPAIR ON A VEHICLE WITH SO FEW MILES AND NEVER HAVING BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. SEEMS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. THROUGH RESEARCH ON MANY INTERNET SITES, IT SEEMS THIS PROBLEM IS MORE PREVALENT THAN I THOUGHT. NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
SUN VISOR ON 2005 NISSAN MURANO WILL NOT STAY IN UP POSITION. VISOR DROPS OBSCURING VIEW. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHOSE SUN VISORS DROP DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY TO BLOCK THE DRIVERS VISION. I'VE CHECKED MANY ON-LINE FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN THE DEALER REFUSES TO CORRECT IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE COMPANY WEB SITE COMPLAINT FORM PROCESS DOESN'T REPLY. THIS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS WHY WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO DIE BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE FRAME ON THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS BROKEN IN THE BACK LEFT SIDE. THE DEALER INSPECTED IT AND SAID THAT ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE SEEN MANY OF THESE IT ISN'T RECALLED AND I AM OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A STRUCTURAL PROBLEM. THE DRIVER SEAT ON MY NISSAN MURANO 2005 IS TILTING OFF THE TRACK TO THE RIGHT. IT IS DANGEROUS AS THE DRIVER CAN LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE A CRASH. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE A RECALL OF THE DRIVER SEAT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FRAME SNAPPED IN TWO PLACES WHILE THE CAR WAS NOT EVEN IN MOTION. LAKELAND NISSAN DEALER FIRST SAID IT WAS COVERED UNDER A TSB, BUT AFTER TAKING IT TO THEM THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS OVER 36,000 MI. EVEN THOUGH NO ONE MENTIONED THIS PREVIOUSLY. LAKELAND NISSAN DEALER THEN QUOTED $997.00 TO REPLACE THE SEAT FRAME. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PUBLIC SAFETY RISK AND MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, AT THE VERY LEAST A POOR DESIGN. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE WEB AND FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO REVIEW THE INITIAL CRASH TEST RESULTS FROM NISSAN TO SEE HOW THIS ESCAPED DETECTION. (MAYBE IT DIDN'T) WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW IS WHY THERE IS NOT AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS? TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG OR WHY, BUT REPAIR COST IS $5,500. NO OTHER OPTIONS GIVEN AS THEY DO NOT REPAIR - ONLY REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS. NO OTHER SHOP IS AUTHORIZED TO WORK ON THIS MODEL OF TRANSMISSIONS. SO I HAVE NO OPTIONS. *TR
THE DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET FAILED AND THE SEAT IS UNSTABLE, LEANING TO THE LEFT. THE SEAT ACTUALLY MOVES WHILE YOU ARE SITTING IN IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW, AND THE REPAIR COST IS IN EXCESS OF $1000. WHAT GUARANTEE IS THERE THAT THE REPLACEMENT SEAT WILL NOT FAIL AS WELL. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. *TR

I AM UNABLE TO ADJUST THE SEAT TO THE PROPER HEIGHT FOR THE BEST DRIVING POSITION. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT COSTS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME WAS LOOSE AND TILTED TO THE LEFT. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING TO THIS MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR ON 2005 NISSAN MURANO FALLS CONTINUALLY INTO VIEW BLOCKING DRIVER FROM SAFELY NAVIGATING THE ROAD. IT FALLS ON BUMPY ROADS AS WELL AS SMOOTH SURFACES, DAY, NIGHT, COLD, HOT. TOLD IT WOULD COST MORE THAN 300 DOLLARS TO FIX- A VISOR!!!!! *TR
I HAVE A 2005 MURANO WHICH JUST PASSED 35K IN MILEAGE, I ALSO HAVE THE GOLD-PREFERRED WARRANTY. MY ISSUE IS THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE SUNVISOR SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. IT NO LONGER STAYS IN THE "UP" POSITION. IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE VISOR IS DROPPING DOWN AND CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 36,700.

TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT THE WELD BROKE ON THE SEAT FRAME OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. FIXING THIS IS NOT COVERED BY ANY OF NISSAN'S WARRANTIES. COST OF REPAIRS: $607.81 FOR A NEW SEAT, $321 FOR LABOR AND $35 TO EXPEDITE THE SHIPPING OF THE PART (ONLY HAVE ONE CAR IN THE FAMILY, WAITING 5 DAYS WAS NOT AN OPTION). *TR
APPROX. 3 WEEKS AGO. WHILE TRAVELING HOME MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO WOULD JUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, WITHOUT WARNING. I WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND IT WOULD START UP AGAIN. THEN LAST WEEK 6/19 WHILE TRAVELING ON A HWY 9A SOUTH IT DID IT AGAIN WHILE GOING A SPEED OF 65, THEN ON 6/20. IT DID THE SAME EXACT THING 5 TIMES. I TOOK IT INTO THE COGGIN NISSAN THE SAME EXACT DAY. THEY HAVE PUT ON IT ON THERE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINED THE CAUSE, SO, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT UNTIL THEY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE STALLING. *TR

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE DEFECT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AND THE ENTIRE SEAT COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF A LITTLE LESS THAN $1,000. DRIVER SEAT METAL FRAME THAT HOLDS SEAT IN IS BROKEN (NISSAN CALLS IT A SEAT ADJUSTMENT FRAME). THE FRAME BROKE AT ABOUT 40,000+ MILES GIVE OR TAKE. WHEN YOU TURN THE CORNER OR LEAN TO ONE SIDE WHILE DRIVING, THE ENTIRE SEAT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH, IT LIFTS UP ON ONE SIDE AND FALLS BACK DOWN. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE STRESS PUT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE BREAKS IT TOO. THIS IS EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN, REGARDLESS OF SPEED. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR HAS FAILED ON 2005 MURANO. YOU NEVER KNOW WHETHER THE DOOR HAS ACTUALLY LOCKED OR NOT WHEN LOCKING THE VEHICLE USING THE REMOTE OR EXTERIOR ELECTRICAL DOOR BUTTON UPON LEAVING IT. IF INSIDE THE VEHICLE, AND DOORS ARE LOCKED USING THE ELECTRICAL BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, DRIVERS SIDE DOOR MAY OR MAY NOT LOCK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM IF THERE IS A THREAT FROM A PERSON OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. IT IS ALSO LEAVES THE VEHICLE VULNERABLE TO THEFT WHILE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. DEALER WOULD NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY, WANTS EXCESSIVE CHARGE TO REPAIR. *TR
I TOO OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. ALTHOUGH MY CAR HAS MORE MILEAGE THAN THE EARLIER ENTRY, I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE DEFECTIVE IN THESE CARS. OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS HAVE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE REPAIRED MANY NISSAN MURANO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT MADE AWARE THAT THEY NEED TO REPORT THESE ISSUES SO THEY JUST SPEND HUNDREDS ON REPAIRS. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. I AM SURE NISSAN HAS AN INVENTORY OF HOW MANY THEY HAVE REPAIRED AND CHARGED CUSTOMERS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER AS THIS IS PART OF THE SUSPENSION. *TR
