DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR PROBLEM. *TR
I DRIVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. ONE DAY I WAS MAKING A 90 DEGREE RIGHT TURN WHEN I FELT THE DRIVER SEAT SNAP. AFTERWARD I COULD LEFT UP THE SEAT WITH MY HAND WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SECURED TO THE FLOOR. THE SEAT NOW LEANS TO THE RIGHT WHENEVER I MAKE A RIGHT TURN. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS ON SOME MESSAGE BOARDS I'VE HEARD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE NISSAN MURANO. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS EXPENSIVE TO FIX, AROUND 1000 DOLLARS. *TR
NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT. THE BRACE BAR THAT RUNS ACROSS THE BACK UNDERNEATH THE SEAT FROM THE LEFT BACK CORNER TO THE BACK RIGHT CORNER BECOMES UNWELDED. THE SEAT THEN BEGINS TO ROCK AND IS NO LONGER STABLE NOR SAFE SHOULD THE CAR BE IN AN ACCIDENT AS THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT HOLD A PERSON IN THE SEAT AS IT IS DESIGNED TO DO SO. *TR
MY MURANO POWER DOOR ACTUATORS IN PASSENGER FRONT DOOR AND TRUNK MALFUNCTIONED DURING WARRANTY PERIOD AND NEEDED TO REPLACE. AFTER WARRANTY THREE REMAINING DOOR ACTUATORS ARE HAVING CONSTANT PROBLEMS NOT LOCKING / UNLOCKING. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FALLS TO FULL DOWN POSITION BLOCKING DRIVERS VIEW OF THE ROAD. INTERNET INQUIRY SHOWS MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN HAS QUOTED UP TO $400.00 FOR REPLACEMENT VISOR.(SEARCH: MURANO SUN VISOR). *TR
SUN VISOR NO LONGER STAY IN THE UP POSITION. HANGS DOWN IN EYE SHOT OF ROAD. AFRAID THAT IT WILL CAUSE ACCIDENT. *TR
THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT I WROTE TO NISSAN REGARDING MY BROKEN DRIVER'S SEAT CHAIR (LEFT SIDE) IN MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO: I AM A SCIENCE TEACHER, AND AS I DROVE HOME FROM SCHOOL ON FRIDAY FEB 27TH, 2009. I HEARD A SNAP, AND SUDDENLY FELT A DROP IN THE DRIVER SEAT IN MY 2005 MURANO. GIVEN THE DRASTIC DROP, I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LANE, NEARING COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS PANICKED BUT MANAGED TO NEGOTIATE TO THE EXIT OF THE FREEWAY. I PUT MYSELF, MY PASSENGER WHO CARPOOLS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD IN SERIOUS DANGER. I AM SURE YOU WOULD AGREE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE (HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV/). THIS MORNING I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH CERRITOS NISSAN, WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND SPOKE TO TOD AND ED, THE SERVICE MANAGERS, IN PERSON. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS ISSUE, AND THAT IS EXTREMELY RARE AND UNCOMMON. YET, AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON YOUR WEBSITE AND OTHER VALID SOURCES, I FOUND FREQUENT COMPLAINTS THAT IDENTIFIED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ED HAS ADVISED ME TO CONTACT YOU FOR ASSISTANCE AND THAT HE IS WILLING TO HONOR REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS AT NO COST TO ME SHOULD THE NISSAN CORPORATION HANDLE THIS PROBLEM. MY FAMILY HAS PURCHASED OVER 8 NISSAN VEHICLES OVER THE LAST 10-15 YEARS, AND THIS PROBLEM HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. MY CAR IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCE AND NOW MY CARPOOL MEMBER AND I ARE RELEGATED TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, OR RENT A VEHICLE. THE EXTRA COST ON OUR TEACHER'S SALARY IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. WE WORK VERY FAR AND START AT 5:30 IN THE MORNING. IN ADDITION, WE SOMETIMES MUST LEAVE WORK LATE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS EXTREMELY DISTURBING. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE LEFT SIDE OF MY SEAT TILTED SUDDENLY, THROWING ME OFF BALANCE AND CAUSING MY BACK TO TWIST. I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY, AND FOUND THAT THE SEAT WAS UNSTABLE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO SHOWED ME WHERE THE WELD HAD FAILED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT. AS ADVISED, I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER, WHO INDICATED THAT QUOTE "THIS HAS HAPPENED FREQUENTLY, AND WE HAVE RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH WE KEEP IN STOCK." THEY INDICATED THE COST WAS $660 PLUS THE COST OF INSTALLATION, AS MY CAR IS 3000 MILES OVER THE GENERAL WARRANTY LIMIT. ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT INJURED, THIS SEAT IS NOW UNSAFE, AS IT IS ONLY PARTIALLY ANCHORED TO THE FLOOR. ADDITIONAL STRESS IS ON THE REMAINING WELD, AND IT CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME. ADDITIONALLY, ANY IMPACT CAN CAUSE THE SEAT TO BECOME UNANCHORED. I AM CONTACTING NISSAN CORPORATE TOMORROW, BUT FEEL THAT THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL REPAIR. DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. VISOR CONSTANTLY FALLS DOWN OBSCURING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF BLOGS AND FORUMS WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER MURANO OWNERS. NOW THE VISOR WILL NOT EVEN STAY UP. I HAD TO REMOVE IT. DEALERSHIP WANTS 400$ TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS VISOR. NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS A MECHANICAL FLAW INSIDE THE VISOR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ANCHOR FOR MY SEAT ON THE LEFT SIDE JUST BROKE. THE SEAT DROPPED ON THE LEFT SIDE AND I WAS LEFT WITH NO SUPPORT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY SEAT. THE SEAT FLOATED UP AND DOWN AS I DROVE OVER ROUGH ROADS. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND I HAD NO RECOURSE BUT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IN THIS MOST UNSTABLE CONDITION. *TR
THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS. IT JUST SNAPPED .DRIVERS FRONT SEAT FRAME IS BROKEN ON LEFT SIDE. WE WERE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE EXCEPT REPLACE THE PART WHICH COSTS OVER $700.00 FOR PARTS PLUS LABOR. AFTER CHECKING THE NISSAN USA BLOG, IT SEEMS THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BY THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AGO MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BEGAN TO DROP, UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT MY TOUCHING IT. IT NOW NO LONGER STAYS UP AT ALL AND I HAVE HAD TO REMOVE IT ENTIRELY. I HAVE NOT YET SOUGHT ITS REPLACEMENT BUT UNDERSTAND THAT IT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED AND MUST BE REPLACED AT AN EXORBITANT COST, ~$300. *TR
FAILURE OF BOTH SUN VISORS TO STAY UP, WILL SUDDENLY DROP DOWN AND OBSTRUCT VIEW. CAR IS 2005 NISSAN MURANO WITH 65000 MILES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET, MY DRIVER'S SEAT ON MY '05 NISSAN MURANO DROPPED. IT IS NOW LOOSE, SHIFTS SIDE TO SIDE AND I FEAR IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I FOUND A DISCUSSION GROUP ABOUT THIS EXACT SITUATION ONLINE. APPARENTLY NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE WEAKNESS IN THE SEAT DESIGN AND THE SAFETY ISSUE, BUT WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. I DO NOT HAVE THE $1020 QUOTED TO REPAIR THE SEAT. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR. IT DOES NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION AND FALLS INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. PLEASE TAKE ACTION AGAINST NISSAN SINCE THEY WANT CONSUMERS TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE VISOR FELL INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT. IT DISTRACTED ME ENOUGH THAT I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING A CAR. *TR
DRIVERS SEAT IS LOOSE DUE TO BROKEN SEAT TRACK. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME BRACKET THAT KEEPS THE SEAT IN ITS PROPER PLACE AND ORIENTATION TO THE STEERING WHEEL BROKE. THIS RESULTED IN THE SEAT SUDDENLY FALLING TOWARD THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE MANNER IN THIS CONDITION. *TR
WE WENT OUT AND STARTED THE CAR ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT OF LAST WEEK AND A VERY LOUD VIBRATING SOUND COULD BE HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. DUE TO THE TIGHT QUARTERS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND VERY COLD TEMPERATURES, I WAS NOT ABLE TO INVESTIGATE VERY MUCH. IT WAS OBVIOUS THE NOISE OCCURRED ONLY UNDER LOADS. NISSAN INVESTIGATED THE FOLLOWING DAY AND INFORMED US THE IDLER PULLEY BRACKET HAD A CRACK AND AS A RESULT IT TORE INTO THE BELTS. NISSAN STATED IT NEEDED TO BE FIXED BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH THE BRACKET BEING CRACKED. BOTH THE BRACKET AND BELTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT ASAP ($400). THE CAR HAS AN EXISTING POWERTRAIN AND BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, NEITHER OF WHICH COVERED THIS. IN ADDITION, NISSAN SAID THIS HAPPENS ONCE AND AWHILE SO I LOOKED THE ISSUE UP ONLINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS. IN ADDITION, IT APPEARS THIS FAIL RESULTS MORE OFTEN IN CARS THAT HAD THE ALTERNATOR RECALL REPAIRED AND IN DOING THAT REPAIR, THIS BRACKET IS EITHER DAMAGED OR TORQUED TOO TIGHTLY BACK IN PLACE. HAD THIS PIECE COMPLETELY BROKEN WHILE DRIVING, WE COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THESE BRACKETS CONSIDERING THEY CLAIM IT "DOES OCCUR", IT "CAN'T BE DRIVEN SAFELY" WITH IT BEING CRACKED. THERE IS NO REASON A BRACKET LIKE THIS SHOULD FAIL, ESPECIALLY AFTER ONLY 4 YEARS AND 36,000 MILES. *TR

DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP. SUCH A SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED $350 FOR REPLACEMENT OF ONE VISOR. THE PASSENGER VISOR HAS STARTED CLICKING WHEN MOVED SO I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS ONE IS GETTING READY TO START FLOPPING DOWN TOO. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO DRIVER SEAT. SEAT BROKE WHILE DRIVING AND IS LEANING TO THE LEFT. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS I WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARDED AND ALMOST SERVE OFF THE ROAD. *TR

FRONT POWER SEAT OF MY 2005 MURANO, SL WITH 47,000 MILES. SEAT BROKE AND NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE TO REPAIR. THIS IS UNSAFE. *TR
MY NISSAN MURANO CAR SEAT IS BROKEN ALSO. THE CLAMP THAT SECURES THE DRIVERS SEAT TO THE TRACK IS IN TWO PIECES. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED ME $1100 TO REPAIR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, WHILE REACHING FOR THE RADIO, I HEARD A CRACKING NOISE UNDER MY SEAT. SOMETHING BROKE LOOSE AND ME AND THE SEAT WERE THRUST VIOLENTLY TOWARDS THE RIGHT! LUCKILY, I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY EASY TO AS THE SEAT BREAKING WAS AN UNEXPECTED SHOCK. THE SEAT NOW ROCKS SIDE TO SIDE AND HAS BECOME UNSTABLE. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. DEALER REPAIRED IT THE FIRST TIME AND THE SERVICE TECH WAS AWARE THIS PROBLEM EXISTED ON THIS MODEL! IN A COLLISION, THE SEAT WILL MOST DEFINITELY BREAK FREE AND LAUNCH THE DRIVER (AND SEAT) EITHER INTO THE DASHBOARD OR TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND WILL INEVITABLY CAUSE FATALITIES. *TR
REAR BRACKET BROKE ON DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT WHILE DRIVING. SEAT NOW LEANS TO THE EXTREME LEFT AND REARWARD. SEAT IS EXTREMELY LOOSE. MOVES AT THE SLIGHTEST TURN, ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. AFRAID TO DRIVE. *TR
OUR 2005 NISSAN MURANO WITH JUST OVER 44K MILES HAS A BROKEN DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS AND CONSIDER OUR USE TO HAVE BEEN NORMAL. I AM 200 LBS AND MY WIFE IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS AND SHE IS THE MAIN DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT ACTUALLY BROKE WHILE MY WIFE WAS GETTING IN, NOT WHILE DRIVING. IT APPEARS TO BE THE WHERE THE BACK LEFT SUPPORT CONNECTS. THE SEAT STILL HAS NORMAL ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS BUT NOW, THE SEAT IS NOT STEADY WHILE DRIVING. ON RIGHT TURNS, THE SEAT MOVE UP AND TO THE RIGHT. IT THEN SETTLES BACK INTO POSITION WHEN THE CAR RETURNS TO STRAIGHT. THE SEAT WILL REQUIRE MAINTENANCE AS I DON'T CONSIDER IT TO BE SAFE. IT SEEMS PART FAILURE ON A PART THAT SHOULD BE EXTREMELY DURABLE. *TR
PASSENGER-SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP, STORED POSITION. IT WILL FALL AT THE SLIGHTEST BUMP IN THE ROAD. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER-SIDE VISOR WHICH HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED. *TR
A 2005 NISSAN MURANO AND THE SUPPORT LINKAGE FOR THE POWER SEAT HAS BROKE . IT LISTS TO THE LEFT. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, IT IS A BREAK IN THE CONNECTION OF THE BACK SUPPORT. POWER FEATURES WORK FINE. SOUNDS LIKE NISSAN HAS A DESIGN PROBLEM. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 15 MONTHS AGO, OUR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BROKE UNDERNEATH THE SEAT CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN TO THE LEFT AGAINST THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I TOOK THE SEAT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND FOUND THE METAL FRAME SUPPORT BAR UNDERNEATH THE SEAT HAD SNAPPED. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT IN AND IT COULD COST UPWARDS OF $500 INITIALLY. I DECIDED TO FIX THE SEAT MYSELF AND RE-WELD THE METAL. I CONTACTED NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING FEELING THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN BEING THAT THE SEAT IS PART OF THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHICH I DID, THEN, TO HAVE THE DEALER CONTACT THEM. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $107 TO TAKE THE SEAT OUT LOOK AT IT, PRINT OFF SOME PAPERS AND PUT IT BACK IN THE CAR. NISSAN THEN CONTACTED ME AND DENIED ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE DEFECT, TOLD ME I WAS OVER WARRANTY AND FURTHERMORE THAT I VOIDED THE WARRANTY WHEN I FIXED MY OWN SEAT. I AM OUTRAGED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE CAR! AS I CHECK WITH PARTS PEOPLE OR EVEN DO RESEARCH ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IT'S CLEARLY EVIDENT THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. I HAVE FIXED THIS SEAT 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST 15 MONTHS AND I AM FED UP WITH IT. NISSAN WANTS $1000 TO FIX THIS. THE POWER LOCK ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WOULD COST OVER $500, PARTS AND LABOR! *TR
THERE IS A FAULTY DOOR LOCK MECHANISM ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO. 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM.*TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING WITHOUT APPARENT REASON, AND IT HAS BEEN FLASHING EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THEN. THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIP STATES DIAGNOSTIC WILL COST $85, PLUS COST OF REPAIR. I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY CORRECTLY IN A CRASH, OR IF IT WILL DEPLOY WHEN IT IS NOT NEEDED, UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO HAS A DEFECTIVE DRIVERS SEAT, WHICH BROKE DURING A NORMAL DRIVE. THE TILTING FORCE FROM THE BREAK CAUSED ME A STRAIN IN MY LOWER BACK, AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I RAN OFF THE ROAD, CAUSING MY TIRES TO BE SEVERELY DAMAGED, NEEDING TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CUTS AND TEARS IN THE SIDE WALL, AND I BELIEVE I NEED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. NISSAN HAS COMBINED THE PART INTO ONE PART NUMBER NOW. NOTICE THE "B" IN THE PART NUMBER - MOST ONLINE CATALOG NUMBERS ARE CA68A. THE NEW ONE IS CA68B. APPARENTLY THE PART HAS BEEN UPDATED AGAIN BECAUSE THE OLD ONE WAS STILL BREAKING." SINCE THIS SEAT NOW MOVES BACK AND FORTH, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I NEED TO ADDRESS NOW. I WILL PAY ABOUT $1000 IN PARTS AND LABOR, ON TOP OF REPLACING MY TIRES FOR $787.96. I WILL KEEP THE OLD PARTS AFTER THE SEAT IS REPAIRED FOR PROOF. *TR
2005 NISSAN MURANO POWER LOCK PROBLEMS. 3 OUT OF THE 4 LOCKS HAVE FAILED. THEY ONLY WORK ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME CAUSING SAFETY CONCERNS FOR PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT BEGAN MAKING A CLICKING NOISE, SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK, IT DID NOT FEEL LIKE IT WAS SECURED TO THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A BROKEN BRACKET AND I WOULD HAVE TO BUY AN ENTIRE ASSEMBLY TO FIX IT FOR $911.00 THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT MY WARRANTY WAS UP BUT WOULD TRY TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER IT UNDER "GOODWILL" AND THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER, I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA DIRECTLY AND AFTER A LOT OF DIALOG NISSAN AGREED TO GIVE ME $200.00 TOWARDS THE REPAIR. I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR A QUOTE AND THEY AGREED TO DO THE JOB FOR A TOTAL OF $400,00 MEANING IT WOULD COST ME $200.00 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX. I HAD THIS DEALER FIX THE CAR. NISSAN NORTH AMERICA DID NOT AGREE WITH ME WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NET REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THE SEAT CAN BECOME TOTALLY DISENGAGED FROM THE FLOOR IF AN IMPACT SHOULD OCCUR, THIS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER AND OR OTHER PASSENGERS TO BECOME INJURED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SEAT ALSO CONTAINS A SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG AND SEAT BELTS COULD BECOME USELESS SHOULD THE SEAT DISLODGE FROM THE FLOOR. I BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR ALL THE MONEY I SPENT TO GET THIS PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED AS THIS PROBLEM ENCOMPASSES MURANO'S MADE FROM 2003 THRU 2007. *TR
DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE CAME COMPLETELY OUT OF THE DOOR WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN IT ONE DAY. NISSAN DEALERSHIPS WANT UP TO $400 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN'T TELL ME HOW ITS ACTUALLY BROKEN WITHOUT TAKING THE DOOR PANEL OFF. I DON'T KNOW IF A BOLT OR FASTENER CAME LOOSE OR IF THERE IS AN ACTUAL BREAK...NONETHELESS I HAVE TO STICK MY FINGERS INSIDE WHERE THE HANDLE USED TO BE AND PULL A TINY LEVER TO OPEN THE DOOR. *TR
THE METAL FRAME ON THE POWER DRIVERS SEAT HAS BROKEN, CAUSING A ROCKING-CHAIR AFFECT. WHILE THIS IS ONLY MODERATELY DANGEROUS AS IT IS NOW, THE OTHER PAIR OF WELDS (ASSUMING THEY ARE WELDS) ON THE SEAT FRAME CAN SNAP CAUSING THE SEAT TO BREAK FREE FROM THE FRAME. A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET FINDS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS NISSAN MURANO OWNERS W/ THE SAME ISSUE.. AND NISSAN DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT REPAIRING UNDER WARRANTY, BUT MAKING "GOOD WILL ADJUSTMENTS" IF THE INDIVIDUAL DEALERSHIP IS SO INCLINED. THE DRIVER'S SEAT ON MY 05 MURANO MOVES FORWARD WHEN BRAKING, AND MOVES BACKWARD WHEN ACCELERATING. PLAY IN THE SEAT IS APPROXIMATELY 3/4". THE MOVEMENT OCCURS 100% OF THE TIME AND HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. THE NYLON DRIVE GEAR IS WORN. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS TO BE REPLACED, BUT THEY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SEAT FRAME. THE COST IS $1100. *TR

I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF MY PROBLEMS OCCURRING WITH MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO SL VIN# [XXX]. I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM YOUR DEALERSHIP IN 2005 AND HAVE GONE FOR ALL OF MY SERVICE NEEDS TO YOUR FACILITY. THERE HAVE BEEN 3 DIFFERENT INSTANCES IN WHICH I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR INTO YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR ISSUES/PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSFER CASE / CVT UNIT. TODAY JANUARY 5,2012, I CALLED NISSAN SERVICES REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN WITH MY TRANSFER CASE AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING IT INTO YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND INFORMED THE FRONT DESK OF THE PROBLEM. FOUR HOURS LATER, I WAS INFORMED THAT YES THE TRANSFER CASE WAS CRACKED BUT IT WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE SAME PROBLEM FROM BEFORE AND BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE 3 SEPARATE SERVICE ORDERS FROM THE OTHER REPAIRS FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT THAT CLEARLY STATE WHAT THE ISSUE/PROBLEM WAS "THE TRANSFER CASE WAS REPLACED DUE TO DAMAGE". I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER FOR THE PAST 7 YEARS AND AM DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE RECEIVED REGARDING A KNOWN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE CVT / TRANSFER CASE OF THE MURANO, AND FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED AND RESOLVED AT NO COST TO ME.
