NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2006 Nissan Murano. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
drivers seat is not sitting right almost seems like it came unhinged. driving on a short distance Trip I noticed that every time I needed to turn and it the road was windy I could smell fuel and it seems like I was loosing gas as I was driving like it was punchard or spilling some how.. I'm no mechanic but as a pregnant woman I was absolutely nauseous from going only an hour away. also it seemed like I would periodically loose power and at one point actually had to pull over and let the vehicle air out and cool down. seems like the was a situation with the coolant as well had to replace the cap and it looks as though that had been a issue with the previous owner as well.
Have 3 lights on Dash ABS, AWD, and Brake. Had the vehicle diagnosed, And was told it is the ABS module. Shouldn't this be covered as a safety issue.
I have a 2006 Nissan Murano and the rear subframe is having premature heavy rust causing the rear wheels to camber inwards. I noticed that 90% or the Murano around this year are concerned and it creates a extremely dangerous road safety issue Nissan should recall these car equipped with this subframe and save lives !
The rear subframe has been rotting for some time before being discovered. The driver side sway bar link in the rear has broken. joint points are ready to break as well. Tires leaning inwards. The contact stated that the manufacturer has not provided any assistance for this vehicle or for the one they owned previously.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -Front Driver Seat and the rear subframe. Yes How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -Seat moves around while driving. The subframe is bad, which if it broke could be dangerous. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -No, my husband is my mechanic Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -No. They seat was like that when we bought the car in 2021. The subframe was noticed last night.
My drivers side seat started wobbling and it feels dangerous in case of any kind of crash. The other day I pulled into driveway and heard a pop and the side where the buttons are popped out and I cannot find one of them. The part where the buttons for seat adjustment just fell out and I pushed back but still afraid in case of collision. I have read on plenty of forums where the seat frame breaks. I am older and I cant afford to fix it but I am afraid to drive it
The rear K-frame of the vehicle is broken near the mounting for the left side of the rear sway bar. This caused the rear tires to wear excessively on the inside edges of both tires, this wear is not easily seen from the outside of the vehicle. It is fortunate that the vehicle had developed an exhaust leak and the tire wear was discovered at this time before anything more catastrophic happened, the tires were worn down to the steel belting on the inside edges had they worn anymore they would have resulted in a blowout and loss of control of the vehicle which could have resulted in a serious accident. There were no warning lights displayed. The incident was reported to the vehicle manufacturer.
I was driving from a funeral on Saturday July, 30th. 2022. The Car Has Been Fine, & Shown No Leading Hints Of Error. I Did Have A Spare Tire On In Which It Had No Problems Either. After The Funeral I Was Notified My Tire Was Ready, So I Headed Over To Get It Changed. After About 10/15 Mins Of Driving (Taking My Daughter To Work) The Car Started To Pull, & Make A Screeching/Loud Noise. At First I Thought Maybe It Was The Brake Pads, Or Tire Rubbing. After Calling My Dad (A Mechanic), & Talking With Others. Searching Online As Well. It Was Said To Be The Transmission. Few Moments Went By Then It Was The Transfer Case, Axel, Then Finally An Electrical Issue. My All Wheel Drive Light Constantly Flashes. I Have No Control Over The Off/On Module. Anything Over 5MPH It’s Does The Noise, & Tries To Pull The Car To The Left. It Gets Louder, & More Strong As I Accelerate. I’ve Never Had Problems Out Of This Car, Nor Has It Acted This Way Or Anything Close. It Was All Like A Random Happening. Now I Feel I’m At A Loss As No One Knows The Actual Problem. As My Fiancé & I Both Work. We Have No Other Transportation, & Have No Way Of Getting A New Car At The Moment.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while inspecting the vehicle, he noticed the subframe was corroded. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
Broken rear K Frame/Sub Frame. Vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and left the roadway after fishtailing in the rain. Towed to repair shop. Inspection of the rear suspension shows multiple premature catastrophic failures of the rear K Frame and or Sub Frame structure. Stabilization bar is completely broken from it's mount. Rear K Frame/Sub Frame is prematurely corroded and completely broken in half.
The rear K frame member is rotted out causing the wheels to tilt in and seems like it’s ready to come off. I was told it was because there’s two holes in the front of the member causing water to get in and sit inside and rust out the frame.
Rusted/Rotted rear k frame. Vehicles rear end is collapsing. Wheels are coming off.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, he noticed that the vehicle was drifting. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the roadway. The contact then drove to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a rusted rear wheel subframe that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 205,000.
this is the second transmission i have put in this.. these cvt's are complete garbage and nissan is aware of it. Stand behind your product for once and replace this transmission on your dime. Will drive perfect sometimes and then randomly 3k-5k rpms and wont shift. sometimes i can shut it off and restart it and it will work fine again. sometimes it wont and i have to drive around with excessively high rpms. Also what is this annoying air suction noise i hear under throttle, sounds like an intake or blow off valve. there are zero vaccum leaks,
Rear suspension making "banging" noise when turning. Mechanic states rear suspension cradle badly corroded resulting in passenger side sway bar being disconnected. Sway bar connection pulled away from frame leaving gap in frame. Mechanic states unrepairable due to extensive frame corrosion.
Rear subframe is completely rusted out making the vehicle unsafe to drive. Extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact’s residence. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and told the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
Normal driving and the seat broke and has been for several years causing instability and oscillation. Recently my steering wheel will not align, brought it to a mechanic that informed me the rear sub-frame is cracked on both sides causing the tires to malign, creating un-even wear on the back tires and a hazard to drive.
Rear Subframe split in half, without any warning. The tires inside edges were worn to the point of failing and the frame is detached from the body, creating potential crash and death.
My car horn recently stopped working when depressing the areas on the steering column with the horn icon. I almost got into multiple accidents, first when driving on the interstate and could not honk on aggressive drivers who sharply pulled in front of me when driving; and later when trying to park in a parking lot and another driver reversed into me because he could not see me and I could not honk to signal him that I was in his blindspot. I checked with my mechanic of 23 years and he found that there was no issue with the fuse or the horn itself - the horn activates when manually triggered. However, there is a problem with the relay from the steering column to the horn and with this Nissan model, that relay is integrated with the air bag in the steering column. It's possible that there's also an issue with the airbag but it's never had reason to deploy. Lodging this incident because the horn is a central part of any car safety system and there seems to be a manufacturer defect in the relay that is integrated into the steering column to trigger the horn.
We were driving 35 MPH, and the rear tires started squealing. We pulled over and saw that both rear tires were slanted inward and the left rear was twisted, not going straight. I tried to drive it further and the rear tires would not turn. After going a block, we parked it and got a ride home. The next day, we had it towed to the local Nissan Dealership. They inspected it and told us that the rear subframe had given out, due to rust. Thankfully, we were not going fast, as this situation made the whole rear suspension disconnected from the vehicle. I have called Nissan Customer Affairs, and they just quote what the warranty is on the vehicle. They say they can do absolutely nothing for us. Many Nissan Forums have multiple customers posting a similar problem. Who buys a car, and the frame just gives out? I am extremely disappointed with Nissan's lack of responsibility and customer service. I'd like them to offer some resolution. Ironically, we also own a '13 Nissan Murano. I am very concerned that the same thing could happen to this vehicle in the next few years. If that's the case, I'm going to sell it in a year or two. Please help us out NHTSA. Thank you for your time.
REAR SUBFRAME BROKE (HAVING RUSTED THROUGH ) CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL
I JUST PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND I NOTICED WHEN I AM DRIVING IT FEELS LIKE THE BACK IS RIDING ON ICE. I DROVE IT ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS SO SCARED OF THE WAY THE CAR FELT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING IT FELT AS IF IT WAS GOINGVTO FISHTAIL. I DID TAKE IT BACK TO THE CAR LOT I BOUGHT IT FROM TO HAVE SOMEONE TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER OF A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ASKED IF THEY WERE PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND I THOUGHT THATS WHAT THE WARRANTY WAS FOR BUT WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS THE TRANNY AND ENGINE. SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET AHOLD OF THE OWNER AND ASK HIM IF THEY CAN PAY FOR IT THAT WAS 4 OR 5 DAYS AGO AND STILL NO WORD BACK. I PLAN ON TAKING THE CAR TO GET IT CHECKED OUT IF I CAN FIND SOMEONE TO DIAGNOSE IT FREE I AM ON DISABILITY AND STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THE CAR SO HAVE VERY LITTLE MONEY LEFT AFTER ALL MY BILLS.
Driver seat has come loose and no longer anchored to the frame.
THE LEFT, DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT OF MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO BROKE WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING. THE SUPPORT BRACKET CRACKED COMPLETELY, LEAVING THE SEAT TILTED DOWNWARD SEVERAL INCHES ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION BECAUSE THE SEAT IS BOUNCING AT AN ODD ANGLE. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN MURANO. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AN NHTSA RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED.
I WAS DRIVING MY MURANO ABOUT 40 MPH ON A FOUR-LANE DIVIDED ROAD IN CENTENNIAL CO AROUND 12:30 PM ON MARCH 13, 2020 WHEN I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG RIGHT ABOVE MY HEAD. THE SKY WAS PERFECT CLEAR BLUE, SO NO CHANCE IT WAS HAIL. I KNEW INSTANTLY THAT MY SUN ROOF GLASS HAD SHATTERED. I HEARD PIECES OF IT ROLLING OFF THE CAR. I PULLED OFF ON TO THE FIRST SIDE STREET AND GOT OUT TO EXAMINE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I SAW A HOLE IN THE SUN ROOF ABOUT 6 INCHES X 6 INCHES IN THE CENTER OF THE SUN ROOF. I INITIALLY THOUGHT SOMETHING HAD FALLEN OUT OF THE SKY AND HIT MY CAR, BUT I COULD TELL FROM HOW THE GLASS WAS POINTED UPWARD AROUND THE EDGES OF THE HOLE THAT A FORCE UNDERNEATH THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED IT.
THE REAR SUB FRAME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 06 NISSAN MURANO AWD IS BROKEN AND IT'S CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YOU CAN FEEL THE REAR SWAYING BACK AND FORTH. IT'S ALSO CAUSED MY TIRES TO FLARE OUT AND WEAR ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE TIRES.
THE VEHICLE HAS A SUBFRAME THAT HAS ROTTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MOST MURANO'S PRODUCED BETWEEN THE YEARS 2004 AND 2007 WITH AROUND 120,000 MILES. THE RESULT OF THIS IS LOSS OF STABILITY ON THE ROAD WHILE MOVING, AND THE POTENTIAL FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION TO COME OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT PASS PENNSYLVANIA STATE INSPECTION REGULATIONS. AGAIN, BECAUSE THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED FROM THE METAL OF THE SUBFRAME CORRODING FROM THE INSIDE OUT, IT IS A MANUFACTURER'S FAULT, NO THE DRIVER/OWNERS'S. AND BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF THIS MAKE OF CAR IN THESE SELECT YEARS, SHOWS COINCIDENCE IS NOT TO BLAME.
HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AT COST OF $5012.91 AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT WARRANTY IS 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES JUST LIKE AN OFF-THE-SHELF CAR PART.
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAVE A PROBLEM AND MY GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORK RIGHT AND PASSAGE SIDE DOOR LOCK DON'T WORK RIGHT WHEN LOCK THE WITH THE REMOTE ARE DOOR SWITCH AND WHEN I START THE VEHICLE UP IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO START UP IN THE WINTER MORNING OR WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF IT DON'T START BACK UPRIGHT AWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND FLAMES APPEARED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AS THE FUEL TANK EXPLODED THREE OR FOUR TIMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
CAR IS SLUGGISH AT TAKE OFF AND MAKES A HORRIBLE RATTLING NOISE ONCE I'VE ACCELERATED AT 20 MILES AND MORE. VERY LOUD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN NISSAN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND THE FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,771.
CODES P1778 (SEP MOTOR FUNCTION) AND P00845 (TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE) FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION. IN RESEARCHING THESE, I FOUND MANY COMPLAINT TRAILS CONCERNING THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND VARIOUS RELATED CODES. NISSAN'S ANSWER IS ALWAYS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT HIGH COSTS TO OWNER. MINE CONTINUES TO RUN BUT IN A KIND OF CRIPPLED MODE CALLED "SAFE MODE" THAT IS AN ATTEMPT TO REDUCE MAJOR TRANSMISSION DAMAGES. CODES OCCURRED DURING DRIVING ON SIDE STREETS UNDER 45 MPH. VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE USED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS THE "SAFE MODE" LIMITS RPM AND SPEED.
ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM KEEPS FAILING IN MOTION DRIVER WINDOW VISOR WON'T STAY UP IN MOTION ALMOST WRECKED BLOCKED VIEW HEAD GASKETS OVER HEATING AND CRACKING REPEATEDLY IN MOTION
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WANT RESET, AIRBAG HAS NEVER DEPLOYED IN MY POSSESSION, I RECEIVED INFO THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON SAID MODEL. REQUEST MORE INFO.
TRANSFER CASE CRACKED IN HALF , LEAKING
NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED BUT SEAT FRAME BROKE, NOW I WOBBLE BACK AND FOR WHILE DRIVING.. NO RECALL FOR THIS. RIDICULOUS!!! SCARY AS [XXX] ... NOT ONLY THAT, I HAVE LIKE 100'S OF STORIES COPIED HERE OF THE EXACT SAME THING. I WANT TO KNOW WHY NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THE FRAME FOR THIS VEHICLE? I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN!!!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TAKARA RECALL FUEL GUAGE DOESN'T WORK. IT IS STUCK ON HALF TANK
SEAT SUPPORT BROKEN IN DRIVERS SEAT. UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT, LEFT REAR SUPPORT BRACKET IS BROKEN. I WAS DRIVING MAKING A 30 DEGREE RIGHT HAND TURN MOVING AT ABOUT 15 - 20 MILES AN HOUR.
THE FRAME RUSTED THROUGH. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T GET IN AN ACCIDENT! VERY DISAPPOINTING ON NISSAN. I DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL, REAR END TOTALLY COLLAPSE, WHEELS ARE TILTED IN AND LOST TRACTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRACTURED DUE TO A FAILURE WITH THE ANCHOR/BRACKET ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. UNIVERSAL NISSAN (12785 S ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, ORLANDO, FL 32837, (407) 926-7000) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE08065 (SEATS); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE INVESTIGATION FROM NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY JERKED WHILE SWITCHING GEARS. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RAN HOT PRIOR TO EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V169000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ON 3/19/19 I WAS DRIVING DOING ABOUT 37 MILES AS I STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN MADE A LEFT TURN . UPON MAKING THAT TURN I HEARD A LOUD POP INTO MY LEFT EAR AND A BURNING SENSATION ON MY LEFT ARM AND THE BACK OF MY SHOULDER . I BECAME DIZZY AND BLURRED VISION I HELD MY COMPOSURE AND PULLED INTO THE NEAREST GAS STATION I STRUGGLED TO GET THE DOOR OPEN I NOTICED ALL AIRBAGS EXPLODED EXCEPT THE TWO FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER BAGS . I RECEIVED BURNS AND BRUISING ON MY MY LEFT ARM NECK AND THE SIDE OF MY FACE . THERE WAS NEVER AN ACCIDENT OR DAMAGING IMPACT DONE TO THE VEHICLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.
SEAT SUPPORT IS BROKEN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE CAUSING THE DRIVER MY SON, TO SHIFT TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. A DEALER SOLD THIS USED CAR AS IS AND COVERED A WOODEN BLOCK THAT SUPPORTED THE SEAT WITH CLOTH TO DISGUISE THE PROBLEM. AFTER LOOKING AT THIS SITE I FOUND OVER 700 COMPLAINTS. THE SEAT IS COMPROMISED AND IT'S A MANUFACTURERS SAFETY DEFECT. IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR THE DRIVER COULD BE THROWN INTO THE DASH OR WORST BECAUSE OF A ALREADY BROKEN DRIVER SEAT SUPPORT. WHY SHOULD CONSUMERS NOT BE MADE AWARE OF THIS SAFETY CONCERN AND THE MANUFACTURE REQUIRED TO DO A PROPER FIX? IS THE SEAT BELT DESIGNED TO HOLD THE PASSENGER AND THE SEAT IN PLACE DURING AN ACCIDENT?
ENGINE STALLED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHILE ON A HIGHWAY ROADS WERE SNOWY
EXTREME RUSTING ON FRAME, BEING ADVISED THAT THIS 12 YEAR OLD MURANO WOULD NOT EVEN PASS NEXT INSPECTION DUE TO THE RUST.
SUNVISOR NOT STAYING IN PLACE, FALLS TO IMPAIR VISIBILITY. BOTH SUNVISORS HAVE FAILED AND WILL NOT STAY UP, OR IN A POSITION. NISSAN IS NOT INTERESTED IN THE SAFETY OF ITS OWNERS/DRIVERS.
NISSAN HAS REPLACED THREE TRANSMISSIONS IN OUR CAR AND NOW THE FOURTH ONE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THEY ARE TELLING US TO BAD AND THEY'RE NOT RESPONSIBLE WE TRAVEL DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR RACKS OUT WE HAVE TO PULL IT OVER WAIT FOR A BIT AND RESTART IT THEN IT WILL RUN NISSAN TOLD US THAT THIS TRANSMISSION WAS NEW AND IT'S DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE OTHER TRANSMISSIONS WERE DOING NISSAN SAYS THEY ONLY WARRANTY THIS TRANSMISSION FOR 12000 MILES THIS HAS ABOUT 25000 ON IT THIS IS SO DANGEROUS WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS I'VE BEEN TOLD A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THANK YOU
HELLO, I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST DAMAGE BEING ONLY 12 (ALMOST 13) YEARS OLD. I PUT HOURS OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND MY VEHICLE IS NOT ALONE IN THIS. [HTTP://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/NISSAN/MURANO/FRAME-RUST-PROBLEMS.PHP] THIS LINK SHOWS JUST A FEW OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED OF A SIMILAR ISSUE. MY ARGUMENT IS THAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE STRENGTHENED THESE SUBFRAMES BECAUSE A 12-13 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE A BACK END DROP OUT OF IT BECAUSE OF SALT. I LIVE IN OHIO AND WE GET ABOUT 1-3 MONTHS OF SNOW AND OUR CITIES SALT A MODERATE AMOUNT. OTHER VEHICLE WE OWN/HAD (2001 FORD, 2002 FORD, 2005 FORD) HAVE RUST FROM THE SNOW BUT THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLES ARE INTACT AND SAFE TO DRIVE. HOWEVER, THE NISSAN SUBFRAMES IN THESE MURANO'S ARE FAILING AND ENDANGER DRIVERS AROUND THE VICTIM'S CAR. PERSONALLY, I CAN HANDLE A CAR THAT LOSES CONTROL EVEN WHEN CARS ARE NEXT TO ME, BUT THIS STILL PUTS MYSELF AND VEHICLES AROUND ME IN DANGER. JUST RECENTLY MY CAR WAS DRIVING FINE AND WITH NO ICE ON THE ROAD (9:00PM ON A 47 DEGREE RAINY DAY) MY VEHICLE WOBBLES FROM THE BACK END AND VEERS RIGHT WHILE I AM ON HE HIGHWAY. I ADVISE THAT NISSAN TAKE ACTION AND RECALL THE 2006 NISSAN MURANO BECAUSE THEIR SUBFRAMES ARE NOT BUILT TO LAST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF SNOW AND SALT THAT PEOPLE IN THE NORTH ARE SUBJECTED TO. I UNDERSTAND SALT IS CORROSIVE AND DETERIORATE THE CARS FASTER BUT THIS CAR IS A LUXURY CAR AND SHOULD BE BUILT TO LAST LONGER THAN MY 2002 FORD FOCUS HAS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. ALSO MAY I ADD THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THIS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ALIGN THE CAR AND STATED THAT THE 'RUSTED OUT' SUBFRAME WILL BREAK IF HE ATTEMPTS TO FREE THE PARTS NEEDED TO ALIGN THE REAR OF THE CAR. AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
