THE SUN VISOR DROPS DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY, BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT IT WILL DROP DOWN, AND IT TAKES THE DRIVERS ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE ROAD IN ORDER TO GET THE VISOR OUT OF YOUR FIELD OF VIEW. SEEM VERY DANGEROUS. THERE WAS NO CRASH, BUT WAS VERY VERY CLOSE TO ONE. SCARY! *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH MY DRIVERS SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY CAME DOWN SO AS TO BLOCK MY VISION OF THE ROAD AHEAD. THIS STARTLED ME AND DISTRACTED ME WHILE I FLIPPED IT BACK TO ITS NORMAL UP POSITION. HOWEVER IT DID NOT STAY UP. NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND IS ABOUT $250 TO REPLACE THE VISOR. TO THIS DAY IT WILL STAY UP FOR AWHILE BUT WILL COME DOWN ESPECIALLY IF IT IS WARM IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. *TR

MY DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR HAS SUDDENLY DECIDED TO KEEP FALLING DOWN. IT WILL NOT STAY IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. IT SLOWLY WORKS ITS WAY DOWNWARD. WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE OTHER DAY IT JUST FELL ALL THE WAY DOWN. THIS WAS WHILE CHANGING LANES AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DISTRACTION AND THE VISIBILITY ISSUES. I HAVE THE GOLD EXTENDED PREFERRED WARRANTY, AND NISSAN STATES IT ISN'T COVERED, YET I DON'T AGREE THAT IT IS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. I DON'T EVEN USE THE VISOR ENOUGH FOR IT TO BE WORN AND TORN....I THINK IT JUT FAILS OVER TIME, PERHAPS DUE TO HEAT FROM THE SUN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS ACTUALLY FILED HERE AT NHTSA AND THE POSTINGS FOUND ONLINE. A GOODWILL WARRANTY PROGRAM WOULD SEEM TO BE IN ORDER HERE AT THE MINIMUM. *TR

THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP. IT KEEPS FALLING. I HAVE SPOKEN TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM. I HAVE SEARCHED THE NISSAN FORUMS AND READ WHERE ONE NISSAN MECHANIC, (METRO273) SAID THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PROBLEM WITH THE SUN VISOR AND HE HAS REPAIRED MANY. TO MY POINT THIS PRESENTS A HAZARD FOR THE DRIVER BECAUSE IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND THIS THING FALLS DOWN, THE DRIVER HAS TO MAKE A SPLIT DECISION BY TAKING HIS EYES OFF THE ROAD TO REMOVE THE OBSTACLE THAT IS BLOCKING HIS OR HER VIEW. NISSAN SHOULD WARRANTY THIS ITEM AND REPLACE IT FOR FREE. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN IMPAIRING HER VISION. THIS CAUSED HER TO SCRAPE THE PASSENGER SIDE RIMS ON THE CURB. I BELIEVE IT IS NOW OUT OF ALIGNMENT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE VISOR IT'S SELF (ALTHOUGH IT IS REALLY HEAVY) BUT WHERE IT ACTUALLY MOUNTS TO THE CEILING. WHY NISSAN WILL NOT OWN UP TO THIS AND CORRECT THE ISSUE IS BEYOND ME? QUESTION FIRST, HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DO YOU NEED TO INVESTIGATE A SAFETY RECALL? I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN MURANO WITH THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR THAT WON'T STAY UP OR WHEN DOWN WON'T SAY PUSHED AGAINST THE WINDOW IT JUST FLOPS STRAIGHT DOWN. THIS CAUSES A REAL SAFETY HAZARD.. EVEN WHEN YOU PUSH IT TO THE SIDE IT CAUSES VISION PROBLEMS. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THIS OR ATLEAST NOT GOUGE PEOPLE WHO NEED IT REPLACED. IT'S NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN IGNORE AND FIX LATER BUT AT $500.00 IT'S ROBBERY, I ALSO HAD MY WINDOW MOTOR GO OUT AND IT COST $500.00 WHICH HAD TO BE FIXED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROAD IS COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTED AND DUE TO THE SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED NATURE OF THE SUN VISOR DROPPING DOWN THIS COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENS. *TR
