MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO'S DIFFERENTIAL JUST FAILED ON A HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS WITH THREE KIDS ON A HIGH WAY AND IT WAS PITCH DARK. THE ONLY THING I DID THAT DAY WAS TO CHANGE MY REAR TYRES AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS MIGHT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO IT. UPON RESEARCH FOR A NEW PART, I REALIZED THAT QUITE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEIR MURANO AND I AM NOT SURE IF THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO AFTER NORMAL USE ONLY. I WAS LUCKY THAT IT BROKE WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. SINCE THE SEAT DROPS SUDDENLY WHEN THE FRAME BREAKS, THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. NISSAN DID NOT OFFER TO REPAIR THE SEAT. THEY TOLD ME THE PART ALONE COSTS $950 AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN ORDER THE PART. *KB
THE SUN VISOR DROPS DOWN AND BLOCKS VIEW WHILE DRIVING. THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AND SO WE HAVE TO HOLD IT WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVER SEAT BECAME UNSECURE. *TR
I HAD A TRANSFER CASE FAILURE ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO 600 MILES AFTER I HIT 60,000 MILES ON MY CAR. MY CAR'S AWD SYSTEM FAILS AT SLOW SPEEDS AND TURNS. TO CORRECT THE FAILURE IS 3 K +. I AM TOLD BY MY LOCAL DEALER THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY HOWEVER IT IS NOT A RECALLED ITEM YET. I WAS ALSO TOLD IF I BROUGHT IT IN 600 MILES EARLIER THEY WOULD COVER THE REPAIRS. *TT
THE SEATBELT RELEASE MECHANISM HAS BECOME INTERMITTENT (STICKY) OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS. THIS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO THE COLLAPSE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME, WHICH OCCURRED ON THIS VEHICLE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE SEAT BELT APPEARS TO BE ANCHORED TO THE SEAT FRAME ON THE RIGHT SIDE, AND TO THE VEHICLE BODY ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE WOBBLING MOTION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DUE TO THE COLLAPSED FRAME APPEARS TO AFFECT THE SEAT BELT TENSION, WHICH MAY BE AFFECTING THE OPERATION OF THE RELEASE MECHANISM. I AM AWAITING THE SAFETY RECALL ON BOTH OF THESE ISSUES. *KB
APPROX. 2 MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT OF MY VEHICLE WAS WOBBLING. THE VEHICLE HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT. UPON INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE LEFT, REAR PORTION OF THE SEAT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR. THE SEAT MOVES WHEN I ENTER AND EXIT THE CAR AND IT LEANS WHILE MAKING TURNS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I CHECKED ON LINE FOR ANY POSSIBLE RECALLS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE, AS THE SEAT SHOULD NOT BE LOOSE AND I SEE IT AS A HUGE SAFETY RISK SHOULD I BE IN A COLLISION. THE SEAT IS NOT SECURED TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. I FOUND MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE INVOLVING NOT ONLY THE 2007 YEAR MODEL, BUT OTHER YEAR MODELS AS WELL. MANY OF THE INDIVIDUALS STATED THAT THEY HAD CONTACTED THEIR NISSAN DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS CORPORATE NISSAN AND WERE TOLD THAT THIS DEFECT IS NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, YET THEY WILL RECALL AN AIR CLEANER TUBE THAT HAS A TENDENCY TO COME LOOSE. THE DEALERSHIPS WILL REPAIR THE COMMON DEFECT FOR MORE THAN A $1000. I SENSE THAT THIS ISSUE HAS ALREADY COME TO YOUR ATTENTION, AFTER SEEING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REPORTED. PLEASE HELP US TO GET NISSAN TO THE NEXT RIGHT THING BY BACKING THEIR PRODUCT AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, REPAIRING A GROSS DEFECT THAT ABSOLUTELY MAKES THEIR VEHICLES AFFECTED, UNSAFE TO DRIVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CRACK WITHIN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BEGAN TO SLIDE BACK AND FORTH INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE SEAT TRACK ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,051.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY COLLAPSED BACKWARD, CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE TWO BRACKETS THAT WERE FRACTURED AND THE ENTIRE SEAT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,050.
2007 NISSAN MURANO DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME, REAR LEFT WELD BROKE AS I GOT INTO MY CAR. IT MADE THE SEAT WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH CREATING A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY IN CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO IF THERE WERE A CRASH. CAR WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP FOR APPRAISAL. THE QUOTE WAS FOR $1400. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER "GOOD WILL". I AM NOT A LARGE MAN AND THE SEAT BRACKETS SHOULD NOT BREAK AFTER 4 YEARS ON ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. IT FALLS DOWN UNEXPECTINGLY AND CAUSES THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER TO BE BLOCKED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASSIONS THAT ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK. NISSAN CLAIMS THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NISSAN WEBISTE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT RECALL THIS ITEM. TO REPLACE THE SUN VISOR IS $350-500. *TT
AT ANY RATE OF DRIVING THE WHEELS BEGIN TO SHAKE AND THE CAR RATTLES. TURNING AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND HE INDICATED THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW AND THUS ADDED FLUID. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND FLUID WAS ADDED AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC STATED THE POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE HOSE WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. APPROXIMATE MILEAGE 74,000. FLUID HAS TO BE REPLACED CONSISTENTLY AND I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THE CAR. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MURANO. *TR
BROKEN DRIVERS SEAT (POWER LEATHER SEAT). LEFT REAR SEAT SUPPORT/FRAME APPEARS TO BE BROKEN. DRIVER'S SEAT HAS NO SUPPORT FROM LEFT REAR PART OF FRAME - TILTED BACK TOWARD THE LEFT REAR CORNER AND ROCKS ON THE LEFT SIDE. ALSO APPEARS TO BE UNRESTRAINED (CAN ROCK FORWARD)ON LEFT REAR CORNER. *TR

THE DRIVER SEAT HYDRAULIC MECHANISM BROKE AND THE SEAT DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD MAKING IT DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER THAT NEEDS TO ADJUST THE SEAT. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR ABRUPTLY FALLS DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. *TR
UNFORTUNATELY I DID NO ADVANCED RESEARCH ON THE NISSAN MURANO AND NOW WE ARE RESTING AMONG THE GROUP OF OTHER UPSET MURANO OWNERS. A MONTH AGO WE PURCHASED A USED 2007 MURANO SL AWD WITH 29,000 MILES. AFTER A WEEK OF DRIVING IT WE MADE A MODERATELY SLOW STOP AS WE APPROACHED A RED-LIGHTED INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AS THE BRAKES WERE BEING APPLIED. WE COULD FEEL THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES BEGIN TO PULSE AT THE PEDAL. THE USUAL QUITE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO MAKE SHIFTING NOISES AS IT ARGUED WITH AN ENGINE THAT WAS RISING IN RPM. WITH A LOUD AND PRONOUNCED CLUNK AND MY HEAD WAS THRUST INTO THE HEADREST RESTRAINT PAD. THE VEHICLE STOPPED JUST BEFORE IMPACTING THE REAR OF A CAR BEFORE US. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE, WITH REPEAT VISITS TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THEY SAY THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG, CODES ARE ALL FINE ETC. THEY EVEN SERVICED THE ABS BRAKE SENSORS AT NO CHARGE, BUT I KNOW THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM HERE. SO IN A NUT SHELL NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND IS UNABLE TO HELP US. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND I FELT A WEIRD VIBRATION AND THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WAS SURGING FORWARD. FELT LIKE A MISFIRE SO I DROVE IT HOME AND REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS. I THEN TEST DROVE IT WITH NEW SPARK PLUGS AND THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME. I TAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC IS HE ADVISES THAT THE CVT AND OR TRANSFER CASE ASSEMBLY IS THE PROBLEM. I THEN GO ONLINE TO RESEARCH IT AND FIND TONS OF STORIES OF ALL THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS NOW STUCK IN MY GARAGE BECAUSE I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL THE VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO MOVE FORWARD , ALMOST LIKE A SLIPPING CLUTCH , AND THEN IT WILL MAKE A LOUD POP AND JERK FORWARD. I AM HAVING IT TOWED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AFTER HOLIDAY AND AFTER RESEARCHING I ALREADY KNOW THEY ARE NOT GOING TO COVER IT AND TRY TO STICK ME WITH A 5-6K DOLLAR BILL. ITS NOT THE CONSUMER'S FAULT NISSAN HAS A DEFECTIVE CVT SYSTEM AND DOESN'T WANT TO RECALL IT DUE TO THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL. I GUESS ONCE THIS FAILURE CAUSES SOMEONE TO DIE FROM AN ACCIDENT LIKE THE INCIDENT WITH TOYOTA AND THEIR ACCELERATOR MAYBE THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO RECALL THEIR MURANO'S CVT SYSTEM. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED TO ROCK UNDER ACCELERATION AND BRAKING ON MY WIFE'S 2007 (BUILT IN 2008) WHICH AT TIMES MAKES THE VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL. THIS WAS INITIALLY REPAIRED BY BUSAM NISSAN UNDER WARRANTY ON AUG. 3RD, 2010. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MARCH OF 2011. TWO (2) MONTHS AFTER THIS THE SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK JUST LIKE BEFORE. I TOOK IT TO BUSAM AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID $1,400 TO REPAIR. YOU CAN GUESS MY REACTION. A NISSAN REPAIR BY THE DEALER SHOULD BE COVERED FOR AT LEAST A YR. AND SINCE THIS IS THE 2ND OCCASION IN LES THAN A YR. ONE WOULD THINK THEY MIGHT BE CONCERNED. I WAS ADVISED TO CALL NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TALKED TO [XXX] IN TN.. SHE DID LVM 3 DAYS LATER SAYING TO CONTACT HER. I CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AND LVMS FOR HER. 5 DAYS LATER SHE CALLED AND GOT MY WIFE. SORRY, NISSAN IS NOT RESPONSIBLE. THAT'S IT. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT HER FOR 2 WEEKS NOW TO NO AVAIL. THERE ARE 20 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ON EDMUNDS.COM ALONE PLUS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NISSAN FORUM AND ALSO ON THIS SITE. THE PARTS USED TO REPLACE THE SEAT ARE NOW COMBINED INTO AN $800 COMPLETE PART WHICH INCLUDES THE TWO (2) PARTS REPLACED IN AUGUST, 2010. THE PART #'S ' HAVE BEEN CHANGED BUT I HAVE FOUND A CROSS REFERENCE AND THEY ARE INCLUDED IN THE NEW ASSEMBLY. THIS MUST OF CONCERN TO NISSAN AS THIS MAKES IT EASIER FOR A DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THIS IS NOW GETTING TO BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I EXPECTED BUSAM TO STAND BESIDE ME BUT THEY WOULD NOT. MY AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE STARTED FLASHING. AFTER TAKING IT TO A NISSAN MECHANIC I WAS TOLD THAT THE WHOLE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1200.00. I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF AIR BAG PROBLEMS FOR NISSANS JUST RANDOMLY GOING BAD. WE DIDN'T GET INTO A WRECK OR ABUSE THE CAR IN ANY WAY.... IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. ONE OF THE REASONS WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WAS BECAUSE IT HAD A 5 STAR SAFETY RATING. LITTLE DID I REALIZE THAT THE AIRBAG WILL JUST STOP WORKING WHILE I AM DRIVING. I BELIEVE THAT NISSAN SHOULD REPAIR THIS DEFECT AND ALL OTHERS LIKE IT. AS I PREVIOUSLY STATED WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG TO CAUSE THIS AND THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OVER THIS PROBLEM. MY FRONT DRIVER SEAT HAS BECOME LOOSE AND ROCKS UP AND DOWN. THE DEALER SAYS THE SEAT BOTTOM FRAME IS BROKEN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ,BUT WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY PART. *TR
2007 NISSAN MURANO SL POWER SEAT DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BRACKET BROKE AT WELD CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH DANGEROUSLY. THIS IS AN ITEM I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BREAKING. IN MY OPINION, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THE MURANOS AND FIX THEM FREE OF CHARGE. I WILL BE FIXING THE PROBLEM AT CARMAX WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOPEFULLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, SHE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AFTER THE REPAIR. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V521000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: SOFTWARE), THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
DRIVER'S POWER SEAT SUDDENLY STARTED ROCKING FORWARD AND BACKWARD AS YOU WERE SLOWING OR ACCELERATING. POPPING AND SQUEAKING NOISES ACCOMPANIED THE ROCKING MOTION. AS THE SEAT WOULD ROCK YOU HAD TO ADJUST PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL OR ACCELERATOR TO COMPENSATE FOR THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT. IT WAS UNNERVING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SEAT MOVING. I HAD TO HOLD ONTO THE GRAB HANDLE OVER THE DRIVER'S DOOR TO HELP CONTROL THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT. IN DOING THIS I WAS UNABLE TO KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IF I TRIED TO KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, WHEN THE SEAT WOULD MOVE I WOULD TEND TO JERK THE WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE AS I TRIED TO STOP THE SEAT FROM MOVING. APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AT LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I LEARNED THAT NISSAN IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND HAVE ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. PARTS WERE ORDERED AND SEAT WAS REPAIRED. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF NORMAL USE WILL CAUSE THE INFERIOR DESIGNED SEAT TO BREAK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN A CRASH. IT APPEARS TSB IS FOR MODEL YEARS 2003 THRU 2007 . POSSIBLY THE SEAT DESIGN WAS IMPROVED FOR '08 AND LATER MODELS BUT NISSAN IS UNWILLING TO ISSUE A RECALL TO COVER THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. I BRAKE BECAUSE THERE WAS TRAFFIC AHEAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I FELT A POP AND THE SEAT DIPPED DOWN AND BACK. I ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THE DISTRACTION OF THE SEAT BRAKING AND BRACING MYSELF SO THAT I DIDN'T FALL. THE SEAT THEN BEGAN TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH. I HAD TO SUSTAIN THE SEATS WITH BRICKS UNDERNEATH THE SEAT SO THAT I CAN BE ABLE TO DRIVE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER WAS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THAT THE OTHER REPLACEMENT SEATS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. HE BASICALLY TOLD ME "DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A NEW SEAT BECAUSE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN". THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND IS BEYOND ME THAT NISSAN WILL NOT DO A RECALL ON THIS! IT IS AMAZING THAT SOMEONE HAS TO DIE IN ORDER FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR LABOR DAY OF 2010. IN APRIL 2011, MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING A CRACKED TRANSFER CASE. I SPENT $1800 TO HAVE IT FIXED AND NOW DECEMBER 27, 2011 MY TRANSFER CASE IS CRACKED AGAIN. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD BE GOING THROUGH THIS AND PUTTING OUR MORE MONEY WHEN I OWE SO MUCH ON IT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON BUT I AM CONVINCED IT IS A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM... *TR

TWO DAYS AGO, MY DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE RESULTING IN THE STEEP TILT WHICH PUSHES ME TOWARDS THE DRIVER DOOR ESPECIALLY WHEN CAR IS MAKING A TURN. WHEN I LOCK MY DOORS THEY GO DOWN ALL BY THEMSELVES. YESTERDAY THEY WENT DOWN THE CAR GOT SOAKED INSIDE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE BECAUSE ANYBODY CAN REACH THEIR HAND IN AND OPEN THE DOORS. CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD. SHOULDNT BE HAVING THESE MAJOR REPAIR PROBLEMS. SO FAR STRESS CRACKED WINDSHIELD, SQUEALING BRAKES, NOW ALL FOUR WINDOWS GOING DOWN AFTER I LOCK IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHAT IF THE DOORS LOCK AND THE WINDOWS DECIDE NOT TOGO DOWN ANYMORE SOMETHING IS BAD WRONG WITH THE LOCKING MECHANISM. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME FROM WORK WHEN I TURNED A CORNER AND MY SEAT CAME OFF THE FLOOR. I WASN'T GOING FAST SO I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL. THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND ONLY AS 20K MILES ON IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN OF THE POWER SEATS. DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, THIS COULD DEFINITELY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND SERIOUS HARM SINCE THE SEAT IS NOT SECURELY FASTENED TO THE CHASSIS OF THE CAR. THE FACT THAT NISSAN WON'T COVER THE COST TO FIX THE ISSUE ($1000 PART PLUS $400 LABOR) BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY IS RIDICULOUS. A CAR SEAT SHOULD NOT BREAK AT ALL LET ALONE AFTER 20K MILES. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MURANO WITH ABOUT 58,000 MILES AND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 50,000 MILES, I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD. JUST RECENTLY, I HAD TO REPLACE THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS BECAUSE THE BALL JOINTS WERE BADLY WORN. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY HANDLING, STEERING, RATTLING OR ANY OTHER UNUSUAL ISSUES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED. I DON'T DRIVE THE CAR OVER ROUGH ROADS OR ABUSE IT IN ANY WAY. THESE DEFECTS WERE DETECTED WHEN THE TIRES WERE ROTATED. IT MAKES ME WONDER WHAT ELSE WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS IN THE SUSPENSION IF THESE THINGS WENT WRONG WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS THAT I CAN DETECT AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE BASIC WARRANTY SO I PLAN TO CALL THE DEALER AND DO A LOT OF COMPLAINING. *TR
I HATE TO COMPLAIN AND I'VE NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE, BUT SOME TYPE OF MOTION HAS TO BE ENFORCED WITH THE NISSAN MURANO LINE OF VEHICLES. THERE ARE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE CHOSEN TO LIST THE MOST HAZARDOUS AND FRUSTRATING ONES. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS RECALLED. MONTHS BEFORE A RECALL WAS FINALLY ENFORCED, I ALMOST GOT SEVERELY HURT AT A STOPLIGHT WHEN THE AIR EXHAUST HOSE SLIPPED OFF ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO, WHICH CAUSED IT TO COMPLETELY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING THROUGH THE STOPLIGHT. THE SECOND ISSUE WILL ALSO CAUSE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES/DEATHS IF A RECALL IS NOT ENFORCED. MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT AND 1,000S OF OTHERS' DRIVER SIDE SEATS HAVE A COLLAPSED REAR BRACKET WHICH CAUSES THE SEAT TO MOVE BACK IN FORTH. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! A REAR-END COLLISION COULD BE JUST AS FATAL AS A HEAD ON COLLISION DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SEAT WILL MOVE FORWARD AND THROW THE DRIVER INTO THE AIR BAG BREAKING THEIR NECK AND VARIOUS OTHER FATAL INJURIES TO GRAPHIC TO LIST. I FORESEE A HUGE LAWSUIT AS NISSAN HAS BEEN ALERTED OF THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES AND REFUSES TO COVER IT, EVEN FOR VEHICLES STILL UNDER WARRANTY. INSTEAD, THEY CHARGE ON AVERAGE $1,200 TO FIX IT. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SIMULATE THE ISSUE, YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO USE MY MURANO WITH A CRASH TEST DUMMY AND CRASH IT INTO A WALL. THE MOST NERVE WRECKING ISSUE IS THE BREAKS. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF BRAKES YOU HAVE INSTALLED OR WHO INSTALLS THEM (EVEN THE DEALER), THEY STILL SQUEAK EXTREMELY LOUD. ONCE AGAIN, NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS AS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT THEIR RESPONSE IN LAMEN TERMS IS, 'SORRY, THAT YOU WERE STUPID ENOUGH TO PAY 38K FOR A HUNK OF JUNK.' I HAVE SO MANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT I LAY AWAKE AT NIGHT AND PRAY THAT IT WILL GET STOLEN, A MAJOR HAIL STORM, OR I WIN THE LOTTERY SO I CAN GET RID OF IT AS I STILL OWE ON IT AND I'M UPSIDE DOWN ON TRADE VALUE. WHILE TRAVELLING FOR A FUNERAL, DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED ROCKING TO THE REAR. INVESTIGATION SHOWED THE SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN AT THE LEFT REAR CORNER. A NISSAN DEALER IN WISCONSIN REFUSED TO REPAIR THE SEAT FAILURE FOR FREE AS THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. TO GET VEHICLE HOME A BLOCK OF WOOD WAS PLACED UNDER CORNER. ONCE THE CAR WAS IN HOME STATE, DEALER THERE ALSO REFUSED TO REPAIR FOR FREE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. OWNER HAD 3RD PARTY MECHANIC REMOVE AND MAKE WELDING REPAIRS. SEARCHING THE INTERNET SHOWS MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE WITH MULTIPLE PRODUCTION YEARS STARTING IN 2003 THROUGH AT LEAST 2007 FOR THE SAME DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FAILURE.

IN 2011, MY DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR DROPPED AS I WAS DRIVING, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HAVE A WRECK. FALIURE OF COOLANT RESERVE TANK. NOTICED A LEAK UNDER THE CAR AND AT FIRST IT COULD NOT BE TRACED. BUT ON THE LAST OIL CHANGE A CRACK ON THE EDGE OF THE COOLANT TANK WAS NOTICED. DEALERSHIP HAD THIS PART READILY AVAILABLE IN STOCK, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW ON THIS TANK. THE TANK WAS NOT DAMAGED OR SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF WHERE AND TEAR. THE POSITION OF THE CRACK LEADS ME TO CONCLUDE A DESIGN FLAW.

I FELT A VIBRATION COMING FROM MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T FEEL IT. A WEEK LATER I WAS PONDERING HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT. TODAY I WAS HEADING TO THE AIRPORT WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER TO THE CVT. I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND I FELT THE ENGINE JUST REV UP AND THE CAR WASN'T MOVING FORWARD WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. A CAR ALMOST SLAMMED ME IN THE REAR END AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE CVT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THAT THERE IS ALSO A RECALL ON THE CVT. THIS PUT ME AND ANYONE WHO WAS IN MY CAR IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE IT COULD HAVE ENDED UP TRAGICALLY IF SOMEONE HAD HIT ME ON THE DRIVER SIDE IF I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND MY CAR LOST POWER. *TR

IN ADDITION, IT CAUSES MY SEATBELT TO GET STUCK IN BETWEEN SEAT AND DOOR BECAUSE SEAT TOUCHES THE DOOR WHEN SITTING IN IT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS FIX IS APPROX $1000 TO $1200. I NOTICED ONLINE AND ON THIS SITE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FORCE THE AUTOMAKER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE NEED SERIOUS ACTION QUICKLY BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND NISSAN SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR IT AS THIS IS HAPPENING ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND IS VERY UNSAFE FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHER VEHICLES THAT COULD BE AFFECTED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

PART APPEARS TO BE UN-AVAILABLE AND/OR WAY OVER PRICED FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT FAIL WITHIN THE FIRST SEVEAL YEARS OF OPERATION. TYPICAL SUN VISORS ARE PRICED FROM $50 TO $200. NISSAN WANT OVER $350.00 FOR ONE. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE POWER SEAT ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO WILL ONLY ACTIVATE THE LEFT SIDE. THE RIGHT SIDE IS LOCKED IN ONE POSITION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO QUOTED $1,100 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE SEAT MOTOR FAILURE BUT IS OUT OF THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SEAT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO THE DRIVERS SPECIFIC NEEDS.
THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, WHICH DOCUMENTED THE SUDDEN COLLAPSE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY NISSAN MURANO. IN 2009, NHTSA RULED THAT THIS DEFECT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, BASED ON THE FACT THAT ONLY THREE MINOR INJURIES HAD BEEN REPORTED. HOWEVER, I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS INFORMATION THAT THE BISNAR CHASE LAW FIRM HAS FILED TWO AUTO PRODUCTS LIABILITY LAWSUITS AGAINST NISSAN -- ONE FOR A CATASTROPHIC INJURY AND THE OTHER FOR A FATAL INJURY -- WHICH APPEAR TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE NISSAN DRIVER'S SEAT DEFECT. THE INFORMATION APPEARS ON THE LAW FIRM'S WEBSITE, AS WELL AS ON THOSE OF SOME NEWS ORGANIZATIONS. IN LIGHT OF THIS RECENT INFORMATION, I RECOMMEND THAT NHTSA RE-OPEN ITS INVESTIGATION, IN ORDER THAT THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT CAN BE RESOLVED PRIOR TO ANY ADDITIONAL FATALITIES AND/OR CATASTROPHIC INJURIES. *TR
1. WE OWN A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, WE HEARD A "CRACK" SOUND IN THE CAR. IT WAS IMMEDIATELY EVIDENT THAT THE SEAT'S BACK WAS ABLE TO MOVE IN A MANNER THAT IS NOT NORMAL. IT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT/TWIST TO THE SIDE RATHER THAN BE STABLE IN A FRONT-FACING POSITION. THIS OCCURRED WITH A VEHICLE THAT WAS ONLY DRIVEN UNDER NORMAL SUBURBAN CONDITIONS (NOT USED OFF ROAD OR IN EXTREME SITUATIONS) AND WITH APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES. THERE WERE NO SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OR UNUSUAL DRIVING, JARRING, OR TRAUMA TO THE VEHICLE OR ITS SEAT IN THE DAYS, MONTHS, AND YEARS LEADING UP TO THIS FAILURE. 2. A METAL SEAT BRACKET (SEAT LIFT FRAME ASSEMBLY) IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE ON 12/20/2010. THIS HAS A CONSEQUENCE OF THE FRONT SEAT BEING ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT INCLUDING ROCKING, SHIFTING, AND TWISTING WHILE DRIVING, AND IS ESPECIALLY UNSTABLE DURING TURNS OR ON A BUMPIER SURFACE. EVEN WITH A SEATBELT ON, THERE IS A SERIOUS INSTABILITY TO THE SEAT. WHILE WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED A CRASH THAT CAUSED INJURY, FROM THIS, WE STRONGLY FEEL THE POTENTIAL FOR THERE TO BE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH BECAUSE THE SEAT IS NOT STABILIZED EXISTS. DOORS CAN BE UNLOCKED AND THE CAR IGNITION CAN BE STARTED WITHOUT A KEY, AND THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THE IGNITION, AND NO WAY TO STOP ANYONE FROM OPENING THE DOORS. THIS CREATES AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR CAR JACKING AND HARM TO THE OCCUPANTS. *TR
