2007 NISSAN MURANO ,NO ACCIDENT, FAILURE OF DRIVERS SEAT FRAME, CRACKED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. THIS COULD CERTAINLY BE A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT AFFECTS THE DRIVER WHILE DRIVER IS DRIVING, SHOULD BE A RECALL . FIX IS QUOTED AT 1,200.00 DOLLARS WAITING FOR PARTS CURRENTLY. OLD PARTS STILL IN CAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I95 THE DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE AND BEGAN ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. I MANAGED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR TILL I GOT HOME AND PROPPED THE SEAT UP WITH WOOD BLOCKS. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM FROM MURANO OWNERS, 41 EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE FIRST SITE I VIEWED. NISSAN ADMITS NO FAULT AND RECOMMENDS A $1200 REPAIR. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM CONSTANTLY, BUT CAN USUALLY MAKE A WELD REPAIR FOR ABOUT $70. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY QUADRUPLED THE PRICE TO $300 FOR THE WELD. WHEN I BALKED, THE MECHANIC AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE AS IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I AGREE, IT CERTAINLY IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. SHOULDN'T NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR DESIGN FLAW BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED?
WE HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. IN DECEMBER I REALIZED MY DRIVERS SEAT WASN'T ATTACHED ON ONE SIDE. THE "SEAT LIFTER" WAS BROKEN. I DROVE WITH 1/2 OF MY SEAT NOT BEING ATTACHED FOR 2 MONTHS BECAUSE THERE WAS A "NATIONAL BACKORDER" ON THIS PART. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN THAT THEY'VE SEEN THIS A LOT RECENTLY, AND THAT IT WAS A THIN PIECE OF METAL SO IT BROKE EASILY. I WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE MY INFANT CAR SEAT WAS BEHIND MY DRIVERS SEAT. I WAS WORRIED MY SEAT WOULD DETACH IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
SEAL ON NISSAN MURANO 2007 WITH 77,000 MILES MALFUNCTIONED/EXPLODED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK DAMAGING THE TRANSFER CASE. BOTH MY MECHANIC AND THE SERVICE AREA OF THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THAT THEY HAD NOT SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. DEALERSHIP CAME BACK WITH A QUOTE OF ABOUT $4,500; CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I TOLD THEM NOT TO SERVICE IT AT THIS TIME; THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A 3 YEAR CAR DESPITE THE MILEAGE; NISSAN GUARANTEES 100,000. I TOOK MY CASE TO THE COOPERATE OFFICE IN TENNESSEE WHERE THEY SET UP FILE. VALERIE, THE REGIONAL SPECIALIST CONTACTED ME WITHIN ABOUT A WEEK AND EXPLAINED THAT SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE COST. I EXPLAINED THAT WHETHER IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT WAS NOT THE ISSUE; THE PROBLEM IS THAT NISSAN HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND DECIDED NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT; I.E. RECALL THE CAR. VALERIE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND QUITE BELLIGERENT. AS I TRIED TO GET A MANAGER SHE WOULD NOT COOPERATE. I HAVE RETAINED A LAWYER AND I AM ALSO CONSIDERING FILING UNDER THE LEMON LAW. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM; HAS NO CONCERN OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLE AND/OR THE CONSUMER. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD RESEARCH. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE ALREADY FOUND RELATED TO THE TRANSFER CASE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. *TR
DURING THE COURSE OF NORMAL, ROUTINE AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SEAT BECAME LOOSE AND BEGAN TO ROCK/MOVE. TOOK VEHICLE TO NISSAN DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT SEAT MOUNT FOR DRIVER'S SEAT WAS BROKEN AT A WELD SPOT, COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE MOUNTING. NO COLLISSION OR OTHER ABNORMAL EVENT PRECIPITATED THE INCIDENT. THIS WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT IN THE SEAT MOUNT WITH SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATIONS.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BRACKET, OUTSIDE REAR BROKE AS I SWING MY BODY AROUND TO EXIT THE CAR. THE BACK OF THE SEAT FELL SHARPLY ABOUT 4" AND I FOUND MYSELF BETWEEN THE PILLAR AND THE SEAT. I LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS COUNTY IN CALIFORNIA, AND REGULARLY TRAVEL FOR BUSINESS (2 - 4 TIMES PER WEEK) BETWEEN 3 OTHER COUNTIES, SAME TOPOGRAPHY. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED WHILE MAKING ONE OF THESE TRIPS THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, A HEAD-ON, ROLL-OVER, OR OVER THE CLIFF. THANK GOD THIS OCCURRED IN THE VALLEY, AND WHEN I WAS STOPPED. I HAD TO HAVE A TEMPORARY REPAIR AT A FURNITURE REPAIR STORE JUST TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. HE FASHIONED A WOODEN SUPPORT TO KEEP THE SEAT UPRIGHT AND STRAPPED IT BENEATH THE SEAT. ON GETTING TO SANTA ROSA, CA, I TOOK TO VEHICLE INTO NISSAN OF SANTA ROSA AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HE MENTIONED THEY SEE THIS WEEKLY, AND WANTED TO CHARGE ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I BALKED AT THAT, WAS SENT TO THE CONSUMER HOT-LINE, AND THEY WOULDN'T FILE A REPORT UNTIL IT WAS DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I GOT THEM TO WAIVE THE FEE. WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT DIAGNOSED. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $800 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. SEVERAL DAYS LATER I GET A CALL FROM THE CONSUMER DIVISION OF NISSAN SAYING THEY WOULD DO NOTHING WITH MY CLAIM. OF COURSE THEY WOULDN'T IF THEY SELL AN EXPENSIVE PART PLUS LABOR ON A REGULAR BASIS. SINCE THEN I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER TECHNICIANS IN BOTH THE SANTA ROSA AND PETALUMA, CA DEALERSHIPS. IT WAS CONFIRMED THIS IS A REGULAR FAILURE. I'M AMAZED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NO ANY FATALITIES, OR MAYBE THERE HAVE. THE FACT THAT NISSAN HAS NOT RE-ENGINEERED THIS PART, OR CREATED A MOD FOR THIS FIX HAS ME QUESTIONING THE INTEGRITY OF NISSAN PRODUCTS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY DO THE RIGHT THING. IS THIS THE ONLY COMPLAINT FILED WITH THE NHTSA? WE FOUND THIS PROBLEM DISCUSSED NUMEROUS PLACES ONLINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT BEGAN WOBBLING ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST OVER $1000 TO REPAIR THE SEAT FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO DRIVERS SEAT WHEN ACTIVATED ONLY MOVES ON ONE SIDE. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY SAID SINCE I AM PAST THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT PAY THE $1,300.00 PLUS REPAIR FEE. I CURRENTLY HAVE 42,000 MILE ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE THE DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET FAILED CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK LOOSELY. *TR
2007 NISSAN MURANO WITH 54000 MILES PURCHASED NEW IN 07 - AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A POP. LATER REALIZED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT IS LOOSE AT THE BACK LEFT SIDE AND MOVES AND DROPS 2 - 3 INCHES WHEN SAT IN. WOBBLES WHEN TURNING CURVES. ELECTRIC SEAT STILL MOVES BACK AND FORWARD BUT DOES NOT TILT. DEALER SAID OVER THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT THAT IT IS A BROKEN TRACK AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE SEAT FOUNDATION AND WOULD COST $1300 TO REPAIR. WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME DEFECT AND SOME MUCH WORSE, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FOR A SAFETY HAZARD? *TR
2007 NISSAN MURANO SL. DRIVER'S SUN VISOR ROTATED DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AND BLOCKED DRIVER'S VISION. NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION. VISOR ROTATES ON SHAFT AND WILL NOT REMAIN IN THE UP POSITION. *TR

THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO IS BROKEN. THIS NEED TO BE A NISSAN RECALL WITH SO MANY PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURES. *TR
AFTER 32,000 MILES MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO DOOR LOCKS BEGAN OPENING A CLOSING WHILE DRIVING. THIS BEGAN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY BY DEALER. THE DOOR LOCKS OPEN AND CLOSE WITH NO WITH NO SPECIFIC TIMING. SOMETIMES CLICKING OCCURS IMMEDIATELY OTHER TIMES AFTER A HALF HOUR OF DRIVING. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. NOW PASSENGER DOOR AND REAR DOOR LOCKS DO NOT UNLOCK UNLESS DOUBLE CLICK OF THE DOOR SWITCH ON DRIVERS DOOR. DEALER SUGGESTED I RETURN TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR. I AM CONCERNED THIS MAY BE VERY EXPENSIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A VEHICLE RECALL DUE TO THE LOW MILES YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE. SO WHY IS IT A SAFETY ISSUE? 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MURANO SL WITH ABOUT 52,000 MILES AND WHEN I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES, A SLOW AIR LEAK DEVELOPED WHERE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR (TPM) SEALS AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL. THE TPM WAS NEVER MOVED OR REPLACED WHEN THE NEW TIRES WERE MOUNTED. THE TIRE PRESSURE READ FROM BOTH THE DASHBOARD AND A HAND HELD DEVICE READS ABOUT 19 PSI WHEN IT SHOULD BE ABOUT 35 PSI. IT TAKES ABOUT 2 WEEKS TO BE REDUCED. THE INSIDE SEAL ON THE TPS IS REPLACEABLE HOWEVER THE TPS NUT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WHEEL THAT MUST BE REMOVED IS SEIZED AND BEING ALUMINUM, ITS THREADS ARE EASILY STRIPPED. IN CONCLUSION, TO FIX THE AIR LEAK, I HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW TPS AT ABOUT $100 EACH. WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES, THE TPS SEAL AND THREADS SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
SUN VISOR DRIVER SIDE FAILED AT @ 50,000 MILES . FALLS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. DEALER WON'T COVER REPAIR. $200 FOR A NEW ONE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH CAUSES VISIBILITY PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING. WELL KNOWN DEFECT. DEALER SUGGESTED USING VELCRO OR BUNGI CORDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
ON THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT, THE SEAT FRAME BREAKS AND THE SEAT ITSELF BECOMES UNSTABLE, ROCKING BACK AND FORTH SEVERAL INCHES. THE SEAT'S INSTABLILTY IS NOTICABLE ON CORNERS WHEN IN MOTION. THIS IS APPARENTLY A FAIRLY COMMON OCCURANCE AS BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND VARIOUS CAR REPAIR SHOPS ARE FAMILIAR. NISSAN'S ANSWER TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS TO CHARGE OWNERS APROXIMATELY $1,000 TO INSTALL A REPLACEMENT SEAT FRAME. *TT

WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, SECONDS LATER THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT HAD COLLAPSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LIFTER LINK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46000.
MURANO BEGAN LEAKING FROM THE POWER STEERING HOSE. FELT LIKE I WAS DRIVING A 18-WHEELER. IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. MADE A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE. COMPLAINED TO NISSAN. THEY INITIALLY PROMISED TO REPAIR THE HOSE BUT THEN BACKED DOWN AND (ARE YOU READY FOR THIS) OFFERED TO SELL ME A NEW NISSAN AT DEALER COST. I'M THE 2ND OWNER AND THE CAR WAS INITIALLY PURCHASED IN 2006. THIS IS A DEADLY PROBLEM AND A FACTORY DEFECT. NISSAN HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE IT AND MOST PROBABLY FINDS IT LESS EXPENSIVE TO LITIGATE ANY DEATHS AS A RESULT OF THE POWER STEERING HOSE FAILURE RATHER THAN RECALL THE MURANO. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR ON 2007 NISSAN MURANO IS BROKEN, CAUSING SUN VISOR TO FLOP DOWN WHILE DRIVING CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT NOT ONLY STARTLES ME WHILE I AM DRIVING, BUT IT ALSO BLOCKS MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA CHARGES $404 FOR THE PART ALONE AND AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE IF THEY ALSO INSTALL IT. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE NISSAN MOTOR CORPORATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE ELECTRIC RAIL TRACK FOR THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT FRACTURED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO LEAN TO THE SIDE IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, CAUSING EXTREME DIFFICULTY DRIVING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC RAILS WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE FAILURE WAS VERY COMMON IN HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AND THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR BROKE CAUSING MAJOR VISIBILITY ISSUE. WOULD HANG DOWN AND BLOCK DRIVER'S VIEW. BROKE JUST AFTER WARRANTY ENDED. THERE WAS NO WAY TO KEEP IT UP WITHOUT $250 REPLACEMENT VISOR. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID HE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH MULTIPLE CONSUMERS. STATED HE FELT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN DEFECT AND ADVISED HIM OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT HE HAD TO GET AN ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER. HE PROVIDED THE MANUFACTURER WITH A DEALERS ESTIMATE THEY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT MORE THAN TWO MONTHS AGO AND HAD NOT DONE SO WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO WITH 50K HAVE QUIT WORKING. SO WHY IS IT A SAFETY ISSUE? YOU CAN USE THIS JUSTIFICATION WHEN FILING: 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. DRIVERS SIDE POWER SEAT ON MY 2007 NISSAN MURANO IS BROKEN. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT MOVES FINE BUT THE RIGHT SIDE IS LOCKED IN ONE POSITION. I HAD THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A PLASTIC GEAR ON THE SIDE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT USED TO MOVE THE SEAT FROM BACK TO FRONT IS DAMAGED AND NEEDS REPLACED. THIS PLASTIC GEAR IS PROBABLY LESS THAN $5 TO MANUFACTURE BUT I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE WHOLE TRACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $750 (NOT INCLUDING LABOR). RETURNED TO DEALER APPROX. 1 MONTH LATER, AGAIN HEARING NOISES COMING FROM ENGINE AREA. WAS AGAIN DIAGNOSED W/BAD WHEEL BEARINGS ON OTHER SIDE & WAS TOLD REPLACEMENT FROM 1 MONTH PRIOR WAS DEFECTIVE & NEEDED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. QUESTIONED DEALER SERVICE DEPT. DIAGNOSIS, INDICATING THAT I ALSO SMELLED EITHER OIL BURNING OR SOME KIND OF FLUID BURNING WHEN DRIVING. WITHOUT FURTHER EXAMINATION OF VEHICLE, SERVICE DEPT. RECOMMENDED A FLUID FLUSH, I INDICATED THAT THE FLUIDS HAD JUST BEEN FLUSHED 1 MONTH PRIOR, WAS TOLD NO OTHER PROBLEMS WERE INDICATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED EARLIER THAT DAY. SMELL OF OIL OR FLUID WAS DISMISSED BY SERVICE DEPT. RECEIVED A CALL LATER THAT DAY FROM SERVICE DEPT. INDICATING REPAIRS TO DEFECTIVE WHEEL BEARING & SECOND WHEEL BEARING COMPLETED, CAR READY FOR PICK UP $400 BILL. PICKED UP VEHICLE @ APPROX. 5:30 PM. AS I DROVE HOME THERE WAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC & VEHICLE SPEED DID NOT EXCEED 30 MPH FOR MAJORITY OF TRIP. UPON CLEARING OF TRAFFIC & FURTHER ACCELERATION TO APPROX. 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANG THAT CAME FROM WHAT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE AREA OF MY VEHICLE, ACCOMPANIED BY A DRAGGING & GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE BRINGING MY VEHICLE TO A QUICK STOP. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE FELL OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL VEHICLE OVER TO SAFETY & NEXT DAY HAD VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DEALER. I WAS THEN INFORMED BY DEALER THAT THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY VEHICLE HAD BROKEN, THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY & THE REPAIR COST IS $3,400. THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM IN THE AWD MODEL. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE & NEEDS INVESTIGATION, HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC, PLEASE HELP! DON'T WAIT UNTIL A TRUE TRAGEDY OCCURS. *TR
REAR HATCH WILL NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND PUSH THE RELEASE BUTTON UNDER THE REAR HATCH, BUT IT WILL NOT OPEN. IT ONLY MAKES A CLICKING SOUND AND WILL NOT OPEN THE REAR HATCH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR REPAIRS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN THE VEHICLE AND IT HAS LESS THAN 35,000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS DONE WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD AND I JUST RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED AGAIN. THE SECOND BATTERY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN 84,000 MILE BATTERY AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT, THE CAR DIED ON ME AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE BATTERY HAD LESS THAN 26,000 MILES ON IT. NISSAN FOUGHT US ON THE REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WE FINALLY GOT ANOTHER ONE PUT IN. WE ARE ON OUR 3RD BATTERY IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. THIS SAME VEHICLE HAD AN ENGINE MOUNT CRACK AT 32,000 MILES AND HAS ALSO HAD THE RADIATOR REPLACED AT 34,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES NOW IN THE LAST 2 1/2 MONTHS. WHEN THE RADIATOR WENT OUT, THE GAUGES DID NOT EVEN SAY THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING HOT. I DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WHEN MY CAR STARTED SMOKING EVERYWHERE AND COOLANT WAS ALL OVER MY VEHICLE. NISSAN INSISTS THAT IT IS NOT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE OF ANY KIND AND THAT THE GAUGE CAN STILL READ COOL IF THE RADIATOR GOES OUT AND THE CAR IS SMOKING. ALL IN ALL, I NOW HAVE THE 3RD NEW BATTERY, A NEW RADIATOR, AND A NEW ENGINE MOUNT. THE DRIVE BELTS HAVE ALSO CRACKED, BUT NISSAN REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINED TO THE CONSUMER THAT THE LIFT LINK KEEPS THE SEAT IN A STABLE POSITION. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO SHOW THE CONSUMER THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS ROCKING FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND COULD BE DANGEROUS IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEAT, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WOULD NOT STAY IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN MURANO THAT EXPERIENCED A BREAK TO THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT FRAME. THE METAL SUPPORT AT THE BACK OF THE SEAT SHEARED OFF FROM IT'S WELD TO THE REST OF THE SEAT FRAME CAUSING THE SEAT TO SUDDENLY ROCK BACKWARDS. NISSAN USA REFUSED TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT AT THEIR EXPENSE AND ARE CHARGING $1,132 FOR AN ENTIRELY NEW SEAT FRAME ASSEMBLY. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND FINDING MANY, MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL WELDER HERE IN CINCINNATI OHIO AND HAD HIM WELD THE PIECE BACK TO THE FRAME. HE ALSO SHORED UP THE OTHER SIDE AND TOOK OUT THE PASSENGER SEAT AS WELL AND FOUND A CRACK IN THE METAL SUPPORT FRAME ON THAT SIDE. THAT WAS WELDED ALSO. I AM CONCERNED AT NISSAN'S APPARENT DISREGARD FOR THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE HERE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE ARE ENOUGH SIMILAR PROBLEMS TO WARRANT A RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURE.
