SOMETIMES THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. NORMALLY AFTER STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE IGNITION THE DOOR LOCKS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK AND YOU CAN PULL THE INSIDE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE COMPLAINT CONCERNS THOSE TIMES WHEN THE DOOR LOCK DOES NOT DISENGAGE AND YOU CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. EVEN WHEN MANUALLY MOVING THE LOCKING LEVER INSIDE THE DOOR OR TRYING TO USE THE REMOTE ENTRY FOB THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THE DOOR OPEN IS BY LOWERING THE WINDOW AND PULLING THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. IT'S BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE OUTSIDE HANDLE NOT CLOSING ALL THE WAY AFTER GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING AWAY THERE WILL BE A THUD IN THE DOOR AND I BELIEVE IT IS THE OUTSIDE HANDLE FLOPPING IN TO THE CLOSED POSITION. THE OUTSIDE HANDLE ALSO SEEMS TO BE SEPARATING SO THAT AN SECTION CLOSEST TO THE CAR IS NOT FIRMLY ATTACHED TO THE REST OF THE HANDLE, BUT IF YOU HOLD PRESSURE AND FORCE THE TWO SECTIONS TO STAY TOGETHER THEN THERE IS NO THUD LATER. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE NEED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR WON'T OPEN.
ON 11/08/2014 WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE WENT SUDDENLY FROM 65 MPH TO 40 MPH WITH NO WARNING. I COULDN'T GO ANY FASTER. IT WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE AS IF THERE WERE LOOSE NUTS AND BOLTS BEING GROUNDED UP. THE SHORT OF THE LONG IS THAT THE NISSAN DEALER THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE WITH A USED ONE. $1950.00+10% TAX. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON11/19/2014. ON 11/25/2014 THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT" IT WAS RUNNING OK BUT THE COMPUTER READ OUT WAS OFF". REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND RESET IDLE SPEED. PICKED UP VEHICLE ON 11/25/2014 TOTAL COST, $318.78. +TOW. ON 11/26/2014, MY WIFE WENT TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AFTER THEY JUST CHANGED THE AIR FLOW CENSOR WHILE BACKING UP THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BIND UP AND THEN WOULD CLUNK WHEN TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD . THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE WITH THE MECHANIC FOR A GUICK RIDE AND FOUND THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS DAMAGED. TOTAL COST $552.06.
I PURCHASED 4 MICHELIN TIRES FROM SEARS IN JULY OF 2013. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 I TOOK MY CAR FOR ITS NORMAL OIL CHANGE AND MY MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW TIRES. I LOOKED AT HIM STRANGELY AND TOLD HIM I JUST PURCHASED THE TIES LAST YEAR. HE THEN INSTRUCTED ME TO GO BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED THE TIRES AND TELL THEM THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE CHUNKS OF THE TREADS WERE SEPARATING FROM THE TIRES. I TOOK MY TIRES TO SEARS AND UPON INSPECTION THEY DECIDED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND THEY REPLACED ONLY TWO TIRES. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I BELIEVED THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH ALL FOUR AND I WANTED ALL TIRES CHANGED BUT THEY DECIDED TO ONLY CHANGE TWO. HERE WE ARE IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 AND THE SAM ISSUE IS HAPPENING AGAIN. I CALLED MICHELIN AND THEY TOLD ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE TIRES BUT I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NOT HAPPENING TO OTHERS. ALSO WHEN I ASKED THEM TO PROVIDE ME WITH SOMEWHERE I CAN FILE A COMPLAINT THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION.
WHILE TAKING MY CAR IN FOR THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED 60,000 MILE MAINTENANCE, THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THE TRANSFER CASE REQUIRES REPLACEMENT (CAR WAS AT 66,785 MILES). THEY ESTIMATED THE COST AT ABOUT $3,800, BUT ENDED UP COMING DOWN TO $1,800 ESTIMATED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO SIMPLY SEIZE UP. WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, THIS ISN'T SOMETHING I'M WILLING TO PUT OFF. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING SEEING THIS COME UP JUST AS MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. I CALLED NISSAN AMERICA SEEKING ASSISTANCE, AND NONE WAS PROVIDED. IN MY CASE IT IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY, BUT IT'S A SERIOUS KNOWN ISSUE. I FEEL SOMEWHAT CHEATED. *TR
VEHICLE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AFTER WE CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED VEHICLE TOOK TO BURDICK NISSAN FOR SERVICE. THEY SAID THEY HAD CLEARED THE CODES BY ADDING SOME FLUID TO THE TRANNY. WIFE AND I DROVE TO LUNCH { LOW SPEED} LIGHT CAME BACK ON RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION IT IS BEING WORKED ON. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THE NISSAN CVT TRANNY. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN A 55 MPH ZONE AND AS WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION, ALL DASH LIGHTS WERE ON AS NORMAL. WE WERE LUCKY TO COAST OFF WITHOUT BEING HIT AND WE HAD OUR 10 MONTHS OLD WITH US. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER AND NOW 5 DAYS LATER DEALER CALLED TO LET US KNOW THAT THEY DIAGNOSED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FAILURE, WHICH IS NO LONGER COVERED.. WE WERE NOT WILLING TO PAY THE $1100 THAT THE DEALER QUOTED US SO WE HAD THE SAME TOW TRUCK DRIVER PICK OUR CAR BACK UP FROM THE DEALER AND BRING THE CAR TO OUR HOME. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS UNLOADING IT OFF FLATBED HE CRANKED THE CAR RIGHT UP. WE CRANKED IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT ISSUE. SO WE CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY ARE STANDING BY DIAGNOSIS. I FEEL THAT THIS CAR IS A LEMON AS THE HEAD GASKETS FAILED AROUND 25000 MILES. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR BURNING SMELL ISSUES MULTIPLE TIME SINCE WE BOUGHT IT IN MARCH 2013. I'M ALSO VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE ODORS ESPECIALLY DURING PREGNANCY AND DRIVING INFANT AROUND. *JS
PURCHASED CAR FEB. 11, 2014 AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE AND PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. ON OR ABOUT JUNE 24, 2014 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, CALLED DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR JUNE 25, 2014. TOOK CAR IN AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE GEARS IN THE TRANSFER CASE WERE DAMAGED AND HAD SLUDGE BUILD UP. WAS TOLD THIS WAS COVERED UNDER NISSAN'S ORIGINAL DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY (5 YEAR/50K MILES), OR THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY (7 YEAR/100K MILES) OR THE (THIRD-PARTY) EXTENDED WARRANTY (5 YEAR/50K MILES) WHICH STARTED ON 2/11/14. THE DEALER NEEDED NISSAN'S APPROVAL TO PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR UNDER THE WARRANTY. TWO WEEKS (JULY 11, 2014) LATER I WAS TOLD NISSAN DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE OF SLUDGE BUILD-UP IN THE ENGINE. WHICH WAS NEWS TO ME BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS WAS A TRANSFER CASE ISSUE - ALSO ON JULY 11, 2014, I WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE TRANSFER CASE BUT A BAD SEAL ON THE TIMING COVER WHICH CAUSE THE ENGINE OIL NOT TO CIRCULATE PROPERLY WHICH CAUSED THE SLUDGE BUILD-UP IN THE ENGINE. NISSAN BLAMES PREVIOUS OWNER?S NEGLECT IN THEIR DENIAL OF MY WARRANTY CLAIM. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER AND FRONT SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL WHERE THE DOCTORS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN JANUARY 2010, HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH CAR IN FEBRUARY 2011 LATE AT NIGHT, STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, HAD TO CALL WRECKER TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. THERE WERE 38,424 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT NOT COST SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER FOR ANOTHER 120,000 MILES. ON 11/1/13 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN BY NOT SHIFTING INTO 4TH GEAR. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SINCE I NOW HAD 127,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I ASKED ABOUT THE STATEMENT REGARDING THE FIRST REPLACED TRANSMISSION AND WAS TOLD THAT IS NOT THE CASE AND IF I HAD PAID FOR THE TRANSMISSION MYSELF IT WOULD ONLY BE COVERED FOR 12,000 MILES OR 12 MONTHS. I AM NOW FACED WITH PAYING $3000 FOR ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. THIS MAKES 3 TRANSMISSIONS IN A CAR NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD. *TR
VOLUME IN VEHICLE RANDOMLY TURNS TO BLARING LOUD WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE VOLUME CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNCTION TURNED ON THAT MAKES THE VOLUME INCREASE AS SPEED INCREASES. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT IS SCARY AND DISTRACTING DURING DRIVING. ALSO, THE DASH CONTROL FOR THE VOLUME AND HVAC DON'T WORK PROPERLY, AS ONE CLICK CAN TURN EITHER UP 5 OR 6 NOTCHES, ALSO LEADING TO BLARING RADIO AND/OR HIGH/LOW TEMPERATURES/FAN. THERE ARE MANY CASES OF THIS THAT I HAVE SEEN FROM OTHER NISSAN OWNERS POSTED ON THE INTERNET. *TR
MY 2010 NISSAN MURANO'S TRANSFER CASE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH JOINT. IN TOTAL THE REPAIRS COST $5,600. I CALLED NISSAN TO REQUEST THAT THEY COVER THIS ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH I AM 6,000 MILES BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD. PREVIOUSLY DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD NISSAN HAD TO REPLACE THE CVT, AND BASED ON MY RESEARCH, NISSAN HAS HAD A LONG HISTORY OF CVT AND TRANSFER CASE PROBLEMS. NISSAN HAS JUST INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS REPAIR, AND WENT AS FAR TO SAY IT WAS DUE TO ME NOT BRINGING MY CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE LIKE MOTOR OIL CHANGES. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL, AND SPARE NOTHING BY ONLY USING MOBILE 1 OR OTHER HIGH-END OILS. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THAT NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL. I STILL HAVE TWO YEARS LEFT TO PAY ON THIS CAR AND SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE CVT AND TRANSFER CASE THIS SOON. *TR
NISSAN MURANO TRANSFER CASE DESIGN FLAW: I PURCHASED A NEW 2010 MURANO SL IN JUNE 2010. VEHICLE WAS GREAT UNTIL WARRANTY EXPIRED. JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSFER CASE IS LEAKING AND COULD CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND AN ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. ACCORDING TO 2 DIFFERENT NISSAN MECHANICS (BOTH FROM DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS), THIS TRANSFER CASE HAS A 'TAB' THAT PUSHES AGAINST THE ENGINE BLOCK CREATING THIS ISSUE AND LEAKS. NISSAN DESIGNED NEW REPLACEMENT TRANSFER CASES ($1600 - $2000 TO THE CONSUMER) THAT DON'T HAVE THIS TAB! ACCORDING TO ONE NISSAN MECHANIC, NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SENT 'SERVICE BULLETINS' TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENTS EXPLAINING HOW TO FIX OR REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE. THE INTERNET IS LITTERED WITH CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TRANSFER CASES. I CALLED NISSAN USA. WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSFER CASE IS NOT RECALLED OR COVERED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED TRANSMISSION WARRANTY. NISSAN EXTENDED THEIR CVT TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 120K MILES IN CASE OF AN ALL OUT TRANSMISSION FAILURE BUT WON'T WARRANT OR RECALL THE CAUSE - THE TRANSFER CASE. FORTUNATELY, MY FAMILY AND I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS. I'M FORCED TO SPEND A LOT OF MY MONEY TO FIX THIS NISSAN FLAW. IT'S TIME FOR THE NHTSA TO STEP IN BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR KILLED IN A MAJOR HIGHWAY ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE SUNROOF EXPLODED LEAVING A ROUND, UPWARD PROTRUDING, GLASS HOLE LARGER THAN A BASKETBALL. SUNROOF WAS CLOSED ON A MILD 82 DEGREE DAY DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY, THE SUN SHADE WAS CLOSED WHICH BLOCKED SHATTERING GLASS FROM HITTING US DIRECTLY WHILE OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NISSAN DID ACKNOWLEDGE INSTANCES OF THIS NATURE ON OTHER MODELS. AN INTERNET SEARCH OF FORUMS REVEALED MANY, MANY OCCURRENCES. THIS WAS NOT AN IMPACT CRACK, BREAK. IT WAS LITERALLY AN OUTWARD EXPLOSION!! *LN *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, SAID IT WAS ACTUATOR. IT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR SO I CHOSE TO MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK THAT DOOR. A MONTH OR SO LATER, ONE OF THE BACK DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING AND THE FRONT PASSENGER LOCK SOON FOLLOWED. BY 75,000 MILES, NONE OF THE DOORS WOULD RESPOND TO THE POWER LOCK BUTTONS OR THE REMOTE. THE BACK DOOR LOCKS ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT, SO EITHER THE DOORS STAY UNLOCKED ALL OF THE TIME RISKING MY FAMILY TO INTRUDERS OR THEY STAY LOCKED ALL THE TIME REQUIRING ME TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND GO AROUND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO REACH IN AND UNLOCK THE BACK DOOR SO THAT MY CHILD CAN GET IN THE BACK SEAT. I CONTACTED NISSAN BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY IT IS SOME KIND OF DESIGN FLAW IF ALL FOUR HAVE GONE BAD BUT THEY REFUSED ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ON THE REPAIR AND REFUSED TO GIVE INFORMATION OF ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A CRASH RISK SO MAYBE THIS ISN'T THE PROPER FORUM TO VOICE THIS COMPLAINT; HOWEVER IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE PASSENGERS. HAVING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO UNLOCK A DOOR WHEN PICKING SOMEONE UP IS A DANGER AS IS BEING UNABLE TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN CASE OF UNWANTED ATTENTION FROM SOMEONE OUTSIDE THE CAR. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENT INTERNET SITES GOING BACK SEVERAL YEARS SO NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT HASN'T DONE ANYTHING THAT WAS EFFECTIVE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REMOVE THIS IF YOU DO NOT AGREE THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
The radio volume knob has an electrical defect. If you touch or use the volume knob the volume will automatically increase unexpectedly. This is a problem when driving. It will turn up so loud and unexpectedly that I have all most crashed my car. At this point the stereo is inoperable. Also was told the steering column has a crack. I bought this car brand new. That feels like a defective part and not something that the owner should have to replace, but should be the responsibility of the car maker.
AS STATED IN A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, THE RADIO VOLUME WILL CHANGE SUDDENLY FROM A LOW SETTING TO MAXIMUM VOLUME WITHOUT TOUCHING THE VOLUME CONTROLS. THIS CAN BE VERY DISTRACTING ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE TO BE SURE TO KEEP THE RADIO OFF WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC TO AVOID A POSSIBLE COLLISION CAUSED BY THE SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED BLARING OF THE RADIO VOLUME. ALONG WITH THIS IS THE FAN SPEED CONTROL DOES NOT FOLLOW THE INPUT FROM THE ROTARY KNOB-IT GOES UP OR DOWN INDEPENDENTLY OF THE POSITION OF THE KNOB. THESE TWO ITEMS SEEM TO BE RELATED TO THE CONTROL PANEL AS OTHERS HAVE COMMENTED ON THE SAME PROBLEMS IN VARIOUS AUTO FORUMS. *TR

SEAT BACK CUSHION ELASTIC RETAINING STRAP SLIPS OFF. LATCH SYSTEM HOLD DOWN STRAPS ARE NOT ROUTED THROUGH FRAME OF SEAT - INSTEAD, THEY TERMINATE IN A "Y" CONFIGURATION TO A VERY THIN (HALF INCH) SINGLE STRAP IN CENTER OF SEAT. THIS DOES NOT LOOK SAFE AND I AM RETURNING SEAT IMMEDIATELY. (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=2010, MAKE=NISSAN, MODEL=MURANO). *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH TO GO HOME WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER WITH NO WARNING. THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T HAVE MY YOUNG CHILDREN WITH ME. THE SHOP FIXED MY CAR AFTER NINE DAYS AND ALL WAS COVERED EXCEPT THE ALTERNATOR. TOTAL DAMAGE WAS 6,000.00. TWO DAYS LATER MY CAR STARTED TO HESITATE WHILE DRIVING. I QUICKLY GOT RID OF THE CAR. TOO BAD I LOVED IT FOR THE FIRST 44,000 MILES. BEWARE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. A TRUCK MOVED OVER INTO MY LANE FORCING ME ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AS I DROVE HOME AFTER THE INCIDENT I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING A HIGH WINDING SOUND AND WAS NOT SHIFTING GEAR. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED, RENT A CAR FOR A WEEK BEFORE GETTING MY CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER. I AM NOW HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING HAPPENED TO CAUSE THE SITUATION WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND I KEEP SEEING THE SAME STORIES FROM OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS. I WANT IT PULLED FROM MY CAR AND HAVE A STANDARD, REGULAR TRANSMISSION OR PUT ME IN A DIFFERENT CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION IN IT, OR I WILL NAIL NISSAN TO THE WALL! MY MOM AND I WALKED INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2010 AND BOUGHT 3 NEW NISSANS, ( DIFFERENT MODELS ), BUT PAID CASH FOR ALL 3 VEHICLES. THIS WAS A $42,000 CAR. THIS WAS ALSO THE FIRST YEAR NISSAN MURANO CAME WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION SO THERE HAD NOT BEEN TIME FOR ANY REVIEWS, COMPLAINTS, ETC. TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 55-60MPH ON INTERSTATE 285 WESTBOUND NEAR 400. ALMOST IN MAJOR WRECK TRYING TO GET CAR THAT WAS DECELERATING OVER TO SERVICE LANE. JUST HAD CAR IN FOR SCHEDULED 30K MILE SERVICE THE WEEK BEFORE. *TR
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 6 MONTHS, MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN JULY, 2012, AND I WILL FILE A SEPARATE REPORT FOR THAT INCIDENT.. BOTH TIMES THE DEALER SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE. OUT OF THE BLUE, IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT, IT WAS SO LOUD. THE GLASS WAS PUSHED UP WITH THE FORCE, WITH A BIG CIRCLE OF GLASS MISSING. I WAS NOT FOLLOWING ANOTHER CAR AND THERE WAS NO STONE KICKED UP AS CLAIMED BY THE DEALER. WITH THE COLD AIR OUTSIDE, THE GLASS WAS PUSHED UP WITH THE PRESSURE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN THE SUMMER, AND WITH THE PRESSURE, THE GLASS WAS PUSHED INWARD. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW, AS MANY OTHERS ON THE INTERNET HAVE CLAIMED THE SAME PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERS CLAIM THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED, AS SOONER OR LATER THIS ISSUE WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS ACCIDENTS, POSSIBLY A FATALITY, AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT FOR NISSAN TO SAY THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. 2004 NISSAN MURANO SE. DRIVER SEAT BECAME VERY LOOSE ON LEFT SIDE. ROCKS SIDE TO SIDE WHEN TURNING AND BRAKING OR QUICK ACCELERATION. DID NOT BREAK FROM MISUSE. APPEARS TO BE WELDING FAILURE OF METAL TRACK THAT IS FOR MOVING SEAT FORWARD AND BACKWARD. VERY UNSAFE. DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE $600 TO FIX AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. MECHANIC SAID HE SEES THIS FREQUENTLY AND SURPRISED NOT BEEN A RECALL YET. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN HE REALIZED THAT THE DASHBOARD CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE DISPLAYED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF AN INDICATOR LAMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WAS OUTDATED WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AS A BRAND NEW 2010 VEHICLE. I NOW SEE THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR 2003-2011 NISSAN MURANOS (SERVICE BULLETIN NO.: NTB-11-005, COMPONENT(S): EQUIPMENT NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10035684) REQUIRING FREE UPDATE (SD CARD OR CD). I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND NISSAN CORPORATION BUT BOTH HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT ON A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN LIST, NOR ARE THEY AWARE OF ANY TSB REGARDING THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM. I EXPLAINED TO THE NISSAN CORP REP (MISTY AT 615-725-7588, ISSUE #18328715, 3/23/15) WHAT A TSB WAS, AND THAT IT IS THE MANUFACTURE'S RESOLUTION TO AN ISSUE. I WAS AGAIN TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NAVIGATION SYSTEM UPDATE. THE ERRONEOUS NAVIGATION INFORMATION IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT DIRECTS YOU TO GO INTO LANES/EXITS THAT DO NOT EXIT AND POSES A DANGER WHEN, AS A DRIVER, YOU HAVE TO COMPENSATE, SOMETIMES AT THE LAST MINUTE, CROSSING THROUGH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE CORRECT LANE TO EXIT (VERY SCARY). THE PROBLEM IS WITH NISSAN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT), IN PARTICULAR MY 2010 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN IN HOT WEATHER FOR MORE THAN 200 MILES IN HEAVY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. NO MATTER HOW FAR THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE CAR WILL SLOWLY ACCELERATE FROM 0 TO 15 MI/HR IN EXCESS OF 10 SECONDS! ONCE THE CAR IS MOVING ABOVE 15 MI/SEC, NORMAL ACCELERATION RESUMES. THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT, NISSAN MURANO OWNER'S CALL THIS "LIMP MODE". IF YOU SEARCH GOOGLE.COM FOR NISSAN CVT ISSUE OR LIMP MODE, YOU WILL GET THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS. NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE BUT HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT EXACTLY WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THEIR GENIUS IDEA IS TO EXTEND THE CVT WARRANTY TO 100K MILES INSTEAD OF FIXING THE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAS OCCURRED TO ME TWO TIMES ONCE TRAVELING FROM WASHINGTON DC TO NYC IN APRIL, 2010 AND DC TO OUTER BANKS, NC IN JULY BOTH UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS (HIGH TEMP AND BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC). I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER BOTH TIMES AND THE RESPONSE WAS WE CAN'T FIX IT BECAUSE WE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOMS OR NEVER HEARD OF SUCH ISSUES EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE TSB RELATED TO THIS ISSUE FOR 1ST GENERATION CVTS. SUPPOSEDLY NISSAN FIXED THIS ISSUE IN 2ND GENERATION CVTS (2009-PRESENT MODELS), BUT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND BELIEVE NISSAN HAS FAILED TO FIX THE CVT DESIGN FLAW. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD! ALTHOUGH I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, HOWEVER CAME CLOSE MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME MERGING ONTO HIGH RAMPS, OR EVEN PULLING OUT OF INTERSECTION TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST REAR-ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES IN OUTER BANKS JUST MAKING TURNS. UNSAFE DESIGN OF TILT STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT LEVER (SWAL) THAT WILL CAUSE A SHATTERED LEFT KNEE IN A FRONT OR REAR CRASH (FORC). THE SWAL IS POSITIONED ON THE LOWER LEFT SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN SO THAT THE LEFT KNEE WILL BE SHATTERED IN A FORC. OTHER VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE THIS DESIGN FLAW. NISSAN MAINTAINS THAT THE SWAL DESIGN HAS NOT RESULTED IN PROBLEMS AND THEREFORE NOTHING WILL BE DONE. RE: PASSENGER SIDE, AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT. ACCORDING TO THE NISSAN MANUAL, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL ALERT THE PASSENGER WHEN THE AIR BAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING. THEY ADVISE THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE AUTO SHOULD IMMEDIATELY BE BROUGHT TO THE DEALER. I AM EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY AUTO AND HAVE NOTIFIED BOTH NISSAN (FILE 670 4193) AND BARRON NISSAN. AS OF TODAY, BOTH HAVE FAILED TO ADVISE HOW THIS CAN BE CORRECTED. I AM AWARE THAT IN 2009, NISSAN HAD A RECALL (#08V521000) FOR THEIR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE MURANO. *TR UPDATED 03/12/10

THE REMEDY DID NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, AND OFFERED TO MAKE THE ADDITIONAL REPAIRS AT NO COST. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO OFFERED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE PARTS THAT WERE BEING REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
2010 NISSAN MURANO SEAT PROBLEMS. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NO COME EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT PASSENGER LUMBAR SUPPORT. TO COMPENSATE, THE CONSUMER HAD TO USE A LUMBAR BACK SUPPORT MADE OF FOAM RUBBER. THE BACK SUPPORT FITS BETWEEN HIS BACK AND THE BACK OF THE FRONT SEAT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG SYSTEM RECOGNIZED THE BACK SUPPORT AS A CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT AND THEREFORE DEACTIVATED THE FRONT SEAT AIR BAG AND ACTIVATED THE WARNING LIGHT. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE BACK SUPPORT WAS AN UNAUTHORIZED OBJECT AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG DEACTIVATION. THE DEALER REFUSED RESPONSIBILITY AND ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO READ THE MANUAL. THE NISSAN MANUAL ADVISED AGAINST PLACING ADDITIONAL OBJECTS ON THE SEAT. *JB
