THE BRAKES FAILED (I WAS IN MOTION) AND I WAS ALMOST IN A CAR ACCIDENT. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I HAVE NO BRAKES. THERE IS CURRENTLY AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER BY YOUR AGENCY AND NISSAN IS CURRENTLY CONDUCTING A "VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN." THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND THE SECOND TIME I HAVE REPORTED IT TO NISSAN AND YOUR AGENCY. I NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM NISSAN OR YOUR AGENCY. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL NOT ONLY FOR THE 2009'S, BUT THE 2010'S AS WELL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP. I'M LUCKY I WASN'T KILLED TODAY BECAUSE OF NISSAN'S DEFECTIVE PARTS (ABS ACTUATOR). THERE'S MANY ARTICLES ON-LINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME AND THE OTHERS AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM? AS OF NOW, I HAVE NO BRAKES AND MY CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN.
THE BRAKE SYSTEM COMPLELEY FAILED AND A REAR AXEL CAME LOOSE AND ALMOST LOST ATIRE DRIVING BEFORE THE BRAKES STOPPED AND FAILED IJUST HAD BRAKE FLUID PUT IN THE RESIVIOR TOO AND THEY STILL FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. *DSY
DRIVING THE OTHER DAY, I HAD TO MAKE A FAST STOP AND MY BRAKE PETAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I BARELY MISSED HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I SWERVED TO THE LEFT AND FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOT A VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR 24 HOURS. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC THEY RETURNED TO NORMAL AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.
THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED BACK IN AUGUST CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS OF MY VEHICLE I SPRAINED MY NECK NOBODY WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT THIS SINGLE VETRAN HAS TO SAY I WAS PULLING INTO A GAS STATION AND THE BRAKES FAILED AND IT WAS OUT OF GAS.
I WAS IN ACC AN MY DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG POPED AS I WAS DRIVEN ON THE STREET AN A CAR TURN IN FRONT OF ME HIT ON PASSAGE SIDE FRONT AN MY AIR BAG DID NOT FILL
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE SUNROOF ABOVE THE DRIVER EXPLODED SENDING SHARDS OF GLASS ABOUT THE CABIN OF THE CAR AND ALSO UP INTO THE AIR. NOTHING STRUCK THE CAR AND THE BREAKAGE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD EXPLOSION TYPE SOUND.
AT 65,000 MILES MY MURANO REQUIRED THE CVT TRANSMISSION, THE TRANSFER CASE, THE RT FRONT AXEL (AND HEAD GASKETS) TO BE REPLACED. AT THE TIME THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THE MURANO HAS 150,000 MILES AND THE CVT TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN! THIS WILL BE THE THIRD CVT TRANSMISSION IN 150,000 MILES AND OF COURSE THE NISSAN 120,000 MILE WARRANTY WHICH STARTED WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW NO LONGER COVERS THE CVT TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH THE CURRENT UNIT ONLY HAS 85,000 MILES OF USE. WHY HASN'T NISSAN BEEN FORCED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION? (I ALSO HAVE A 2013 VERSA WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 65,000 MILES). BAD DESIGN THAT IS PUTTING CUSTOMERS AT RISK OF INJURY WHEN THE CTV TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AND DESTROY OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. CURRENT PROBLEM: WHEN AT A FULL STOP THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE GAS CAN GO TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION IS INTERMITTENT AND CAN LAST FROM LESS THAN A SECOND TO SEVERAL MINUTES. A SHUT DOWN AND RESTART OF THE CAR MAY BE NEEDED TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS ON LARGE ROADS IN THE NORTHERN VA TRAFFIC. NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND BLOCKING MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC IN NORTHERN VA IS A VERY DANGEROUS PLACE TO BE.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FAILS TO STAY IN A DESIRED POSITION. IT WILL TYPICALLY MIGRATE WITH BUMPS IN THE ROAD, AND CAN MOVE DOWN EVEN WHEN STOWED. THE SUN VISOR CONSTANTLY FALLS DOWN. AS YOU'RE DRIVING ARBITRARILY, IT WILL JUST DROP AND OBSTRUCT YOUR VISION.
WHEN I WOULD DRIVE AND GO TO BREAK, I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES MOVE DOWN QUICKLY AND HAVE MY FOOT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE MY CAR WOULD ACTUALLY SLOW DOWN OR STOP. I WENT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED MY CAR AND THEY SAID THAT THE ABS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WENT TO GET A SECOND OPINION FROM A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY ABS DOES NEED TO BE REPLACED AND HE LOOKED ON-LINE AND SAID THAT NISSAN WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS BRAKES. WHEN I LOOKED ON-LINE AND READ THE RECALL INFORMATION (#18V916), I NOTICED I WAS HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH MY ABS BRAKES BUT MY CAR WAS A YEAR SHY OF THE RECALL YEAR MODELS. I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BUT THEY DID DOCUMENT MY CALL AND GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER (34912594).
SOFT BRAKES, RECURRING CONCERN, REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AND REPLACED BRAKE FLUID, STILL THE SOFT BRAKING IS STILL PRESENT. PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN IN ORDER TO BRAKE.
I HAVE A 2010 MURANO AND FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 3 YEARS MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR HAVE TO BE REPLACED. SOUNDS IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL ON THE 2005. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TWICE IN 3 YEARS. NISSAN RECALL THIS!
I PURCHASED MY CAR, USED, FROM NISSAN OF CANTON (MICHIGAN), ON SEPT. 23, 2016 WHERE THERE WERE NO DISCLOSURES OF ANY SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO STRUCTURAL OR OTHER CONCERNS. ON MARCH 15, 2018, THE RIGHT REAR OF CAR MADE A METAL SNAPPING SOUND AND BEGAN DRIVING POORLY SO I TOOK THE CAR TO AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO FOUND "THE REAR FRAME HAS ROTTED OUT WHERE THE TORSION ARM MOUNTS TO THE CROSSMEMBER". I WAS TOLD THE SUB-FRAME SHOWS SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION SUCH THAT, THE CAR NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT UP FOR SALE BY THE NISSAN DEALER IN 2016 AS THE ROT AND CORROSION OF THE FRAME IS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT WHEN THE CAR IS ON A LIFT, THE CORROSION, ROT AND EXCESSIVE RUST IS EVIDENT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MISSED BY THE MECHANIC THE NISSAN DEALER'S USED TO ENSURE THE CAR WAS SAFE TO SELL. I TWICE CONTACTED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION AND TO SEEK A SOLUTION. I SENT THE USED CAR MANAGER A PICTURE OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE THAT IS INCLUDED BELOW. THE DEALER SAID THE RUST MUST HAVE DEVELOPED SINCE I TOOK OWNERSHIP OF THE CAR AND THAT THEY WEREN'T RESPONSIBLE. I REJECTED THIS AND ASKED TO MEET WITH THE USE CAR SALES MANAGER ON MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2018 WHERE I WILL ASK THAT THE CAR BE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FULL REFUND AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING A CAR SOLD TO ME WITH SERIOUS FRAME DAMAGE, ROT, RUST AND CORROSION. I AM FEARFUL THE ROTTED FRAME WILL SNAP, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I OR OTHERS, MAY BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO RETRACT THE COMPLAINT DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING. *JS
KNOWN PROBLEM WITH NISSAN 2010 MURANO CVT AND TRANSFER CASE FAILURE. CVT / TRANSFER CASE FAILED AT 96,000 AND THEY KNOW ABOUT HIS CONSTANT PROBLEM AND DO NOTHING. TRYING TO DEAL WITH NISSAN HAS BEEN A DISASTER AND NO ONE WILL TALK TO ME ABOUT PAYING FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. BOTH SWAY BARS BROKE BECAUSE OF THE VIBRATION AND SHAKING FROM THE CV SHAFT
PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL DRIVING THRU ICY ROADS. THE CAR SKIDDED FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT ALL OF THE TIME. IT FEELS LIKE THE ABS IS PERMANENTLY ENGAGED. THE CAR IS STOPPING BUT THE BRAKES ARE VERY MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THEY HAVE EVER BEEN. I HAVE READ THAT THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. IF SO, THIS MUST BE A DEFECT AS THE CAR SEEMS STUCK IN ABS MODE.
DRIVING NORTH ON THE I-15 FREEWAY, APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH (THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT), IN THE FAST LANE, IT WAS EVENING, DARK OUTSIDE, AROUND 7 PM. THERE WERE NO CURVES IN THE ROAD AT THAT TIME. ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY SUN ROOF GLASS EXPLODED WITH A HUGE BANG SOUND, EXTREMELY LOUD, AND IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A LOT OF WIND NOISE. I HAD THE INTERIOR SUNROOF SCREEN CLOSED, THANK GOODNESS. OTHERWISE I WOULD'VE BEEN COVERED IN TEMPERED GLASS. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY AS QUICKLY AND SAFELY AS I COULD, INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION. UPON INSPECTION, I NOTICED THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY A 2' X 1' HOLE IN THE CENTER OF MY FRONT SUNROOM. SHARDS OF GLASS WERE EVERYWHERE, AND THE INTERIOR NETTING WAS SHREDDED. I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME PLASTIC AND DUCT TAPE TO COVER THE WINDOW ENOUGH SO THAT I COULD GET HOME. IT WAS ALSO A WINDY DAY.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, HI BUMPS IN THE ROAD, STARTED TO SLOW DOWN, PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND WENT TO THE FLOOR, PUMPED BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY STOP. WENT TO SHOP, THE SHOP CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND SAID THE ABS WENT OUT BECAUSE THE ABS HAD NOT BEEN USED, THEY RESET THE COMPUTER NOW I HAVE BRAKES. THE SHOP TOOK CAR OUT AND LOCKED BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. WENT TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, THEY CHECKED COMPUTER AND SAID THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH BRAKES, NO RECORD OF THIS HAPPENING.
THE CAR IS LOSING POWER AT RANDOM TIMES THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL LURCH FORWARD AT FULL POWER. THIS HAS CAUSE ME TO ALMOST GET INTO NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER HAS ADI THAT SINCE THERE ISNT A CODE COMING UP THAT THEY CANT DO ANYTHING. IVE READ ON THE WEB THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND THAT ITS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT THAT NISSAN WONT ISSUE A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENCOUNTERED A LARGE POTHOLE A FEW YARDS FROM A STOP SIGN. UPON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES TO STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL "WENT TO THE FLOOR" AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN (VEHICLE SPEED WAS APPROX. 25 MPH). EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO NAVIGATE THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DRIVER LIMPED THE VEHICLE TO HIS HOME IN ORDER TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM. THE INDIVIDUAL WAS ABLE TO RESTORE THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO NORMAL BY HITTING THE ABS ACTUATOR AND CONTROL UNIT WITH A RUBBER MALLET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO COURTESY NISSAN (1777 N CENTRAL EXPY, RICHARDSON, TX 75080) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *BF UPDATED 9/12/18*JB
MY MURANO WAS DRIVEN BY MY WIFE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN SUDDENLY THE SUV WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE THE STREET BLOCKING TRAFFIC ON BOTH SIDES. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND RESTARTED BEFORE ABLE TO ACCELERATE. I HAD SUV TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT CVT TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED. I HAS SERVICED TRANSMISSION FLUID 3 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE WITH 139,800 MILES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE NISSAN CVT{CONSTANT VARIABLE TRANSMISSION}, WE ARE NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I MAY BE THE FIRST WITH A 2010 MURANO. I AM FEARFUL OF THIS VEHICLE AFTER IT $5000 REPAIR{OUT OF POCKET}, ESPECIALLY IF ON A BUSY INTERSTATE IN CHICAGO AREA DUE TO SUDDEN LOSE OF ACCELERATION.
BREAKS LOSE PRESSURE AFTER HITTING BUMPS OR WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES ALREADY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IT HAPPENS FROM TIME TO TIME BUT VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY CAR AND NOTHING THE DEALER CAN FIX BECAUSE THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG.
THE BRAKES ON MY 2010 NISSAN MURANO FAILED TO WORK WHEN I WAS COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT ON A HIGHWAY. THE BRAKES LOST PRESSURE AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WAS SOFT. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH, THE NHTSA IS ALREADY INVESTIGATING THE 2009 NISSAN MURANO FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKE IS DEFECTIVE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THIS VERY EXPENSIVE PART AS NISSAN NEEDS TO REPAIR IT AS IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART.
SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AFTER A 90 DEGREE INTERSECTION TURN. PRESSURE LOSS IN BRAKE PEDAL AFTER THAT. NOW IT REQUIRES TO PRESS THE BRAKES A LOT MORE TO HAVE SAME BRAKING EFFECT AS BEFORE.
CVT TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WITH NO ERROR CODE, COULD NOT TELL WHAT THE ISSUE WAS UNTIL AT A POINT OF FAILURE CAUSING HIGH RPM CAR SLOWED DOWN IN TRAFFIC. JUST MADE IT HOME. WAITED UNTIL NEXT DAY TO GET IT TO THE DEALER, HAVE OWNED LOTS OF NISSANS IN THE PAST BUT NEVER ONE WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION EVEN ONE AT 400,000 MILES ON IT. TALKED TO DEALER MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH ALL NISSAN VEHICLES. $5,000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION! WHERE'S THE RECALL?
MULTIPLE TIMES, OVER PAST FEW YEARS, AFTER 1 0R MORE HOURS AT HIGHWAY SPEED ( 70 - 80 MPH ) VEHICLE LOSES ALL ACCELERATION. OCCURS WITH CRUISE ON OR OFF. WILL MAINTAIN SPEED ON LEVEL ROAD. WILL LOSE SPEED ON ANY INCLINE.AFTER PULLING OFF HIGHWAY, TURNING OFF CAR AND RESTARTING HAS ALWAYS SOLVED PROBLEM; UNTIL TODAY ON I85 WHEN PROBLEM REOCCURRED AFTER A FEW MINUTES. FLOORING ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS NO AFFECT. I WOULD THINK LACK OF ACCELERATION COULD BE A PROBLEM IF TRYING A AVOID A CRASH
WHEN ENTERING THE INTERSTATE ON JUNE 5, THE CAR FELT LIKE WIND HAD SHAKEN IT. MY FRIEND, WHO WAS DRIVING IT, PULLED OVER AND SAW THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE HAD TORN COMPLETELY AROUND THE TIRE. WHEN I TOOK THE TIRE TO ORDER A NEW ONE, I WAS TOLD IT LOOKED LIKE A FACTORY DEFECT ALTHOUGH NO RECALL WAS IN AFFECT AT THE TIME.
THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I PURCHASED THIS USED VEHICLE FROM PARK PLACE LEXIS. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN UNDER A RECALL AND DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON.
BRAKE PEDAL LOOSES PRESSURE AFTER BRAKING ON LOW FRICTION (WET PAVEMENT), WILL BRAKE AFTER THE PEDAL HAS BEEN PRESSED ALL THE WAY. WILL CORRECT ITSELF AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES. OCURRS MULTIPLE TIMES, EVERY TIME THE TRACTION SPINS ONE OF THE FRONT WHEELS.
MY FRONT DRIVER DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN I PRESS THE BUTTONS ON MY KEY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT SOMEOME BREAKING INTO MY CAR AND STEALING ANYTHING. THIS ISSUE IS AN EXPENSIVE ONE TO FIX AND I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IVE BEEN TOLD ITS THE ACTUATOR TO THE PPWER LOCKS. ONCE ONE GOES THEN THEY ALL START GOING. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THE POWER LOCK DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OR THE REAR RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR AT ALL. I HAVE TO OPEN THE DOORS JUST TO MANUALLY UNLOCK ANOTHER DOOR.
THE STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR DISABLED... I SEE THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED & FALLING APART. IF YOU TOUCH IT ITS STICKY & PIECES START TO FALL OFF OF IT. MY FRIENDS TOYOTA CAMRY WAS OLDER THAN MINE & THEY REPLACED HER ENTIRE DASHBOARD FOR FREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CDT TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
2010 NISSAN MURANO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE SURGE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT TO CHANGE, THE ENGINE SURGED ON ITS OWN. THE FIRST TIME, HE WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE. THE SECOND TIME, HE IMMEDIATELY PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL. *JB
1. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. SOMEONE CAN MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY.THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITANCE OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME TILL SOMEONE GETS ROBBED, HURT OR KILLED FROM A MALFUNCTIONING DOOR LOCK.
THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IT STARTED WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT UNLOCKING, ONLY ON OCCASION, WITH THE FOB. IT WAS A SLOW PROGRESSION BUT THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR WOULDN'T UNLOCK IT EITHER. IT SLOWLY PROGRESSED THE EFFECT THE OTHER DOORS AS WELL. BEFORE WE KNEW IT, NO DOORS WILL UNLOCK WITH THE FOB OR THE UNLOCK BUTTONS. WE NOW HAVE TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND USE OUR HANDS TO UNLOCK THE OTHER DOORS.
WHEN MY HUSBAND PULLED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE HANDLE CAME OFF IN HIS HAND. THE REPAIR COST $297.50 ( QUOTED PRICE WAS $350 AND WE HAD A 15% DISCOUNT COUPON) INTERESTINGLY THEY HAD THE HANDLE IN STOCK. ATTACHED PICTURE OF HANDLE SHOWS A HALLOW AREA THAT SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE A DEFECTIVE PART.
LEAKING TRANSFER CASE. ON MARCH 15, 2016, AT 72,549 MILES, THE CVT TRANSMISSION ON MY 2010 NISSAN MURANO LE FAILED AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A LOWE'S PARKING LOT. NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES SO THEY REPLACED THE CVT TRANSMISSION FREE OF CHARGE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME ON MARCH 22, 2016. ON MARCH 29, 2016 I NOTICED A BROWN OILY FLUID LEAKING ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME NISSAN DEALERERSHIP, AND THEY SAID THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS FINE BUT NOW I HAD A LEAKING TRANSFER CASE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE TRANSFER CASE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND I PAID OVER $1300 OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR IT.
AT RANDOM TIMES, AFTER BRAKING OVER BUMPS OR IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD SURFACES, AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOSES ALL PRESSURE MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. WHEN DRIVING IT IN THE SNOW, AFTER THE ABS SYSTEM IS TRIGGERED, THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOSES PRESSURE, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. AT ONE MOMENT, I WAS DRIVING VERY SLOWLY DOWN A SNOWY HILL, WHEN THE BRAKE SYSTEM SUDDENLY LOST PRESSURE AND THE ABS ONLY ENGAGED AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AT THAT TIME, IT WAS TOO LATE AND I SLID THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND ENDED UP IN A DITCH (WITH MY WIFE AND INFANT SON IN THE CAR). LUCKILY, EVERYONE ELSE WAS STOPPED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION, AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO OUR CAR OR ANYONE ELSE'S PROPERTY. SO FAR, THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX FOR THIS ISSUE, AND IT SEEMS THERE IS NO RESEARCH BEING DONE BY NISSAN. THEY (NISSAN) NEEDS TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO A FAULTY BRAKE/ABS SYSTEM. WE LOVE OUR MURANO, BUT WE WILL BE TRADING IT IN ON SOMETHING ELSE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSPONDER AND COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AND THE TRANSPONDER REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AND UNLOCK. BAD DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR MECHANISMS. $400-$600 TO FIX PER DOOR. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD!!!!
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT CAUSING ME TO SWERVE AND ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. I HAD TO SWERVE SO I WOULDN'T HIT THE RAIL. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND ME. NO EVIDENCE OF A ROCK, WOOD, ETC. THE THING JUST POPPED, AND THE GLASS FELL ALL OVER MY SEAT AROUND THE KIDS. IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT . THE KIDS WERE SCREAMING. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE MURANOS DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. FROM READING MESSAGE BOARDS ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE A COMMON ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT IS NOT JUST MY VEHICLE. SOMETIMES IT WON'T LOCK AND OTHER TIMES IT WON'T UNLOCK. IT DOESN'T WORK WITH EITHER THE KEYFOB OR FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR DOOR. SOMEONE COULD OPEN YOUR CAR DOOR OR NOT BEING ABLE TO UNLOCK IT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. NISSAN WANTS SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX THE ISSUE WHEN IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS A COMMON DEFECT ON THEIR END. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO FIX IT.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY 5 YEAR OLD CAR. IT HAS LOW MILEAGE AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. MY FUEL GAUGE AND MILE RANGE INDICATOR ARE NO LONGER ACCURATE OR IN SYNC. TO FIX THIS. I CONTACTED NISSAN AMERICA WHO HAD ONE OF THEIR ENGINEERS CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. NISSAN'S FINAL DECISION IS THAT IT IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING MORE. I HAVE MANY CONCERNS ABOUT THIS DECISION. IT ISN'T EASY ESTIMATING WHAT I HAVE IN MY TANK WHEN BOTH GAUGES ARE INCORRECT. IT IS STRESSFUL AND DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN TAKING LONGER TRIPS. DRIVING TO MISSOULA MONTANA FROM GREAT FALLS, I WAS JUST LEAVING LINCOLN, MONTANA WAS ABOUT 6 MILES OUT GOING AROUND 40 TO 45 MILES PER HOUR AND THE FRONT MOON ROOF BLEW UP, SOUNDED LIKE A BIG HUGE BLAST WITH GLASS FLYING EVERYWHERE, RECEIVED A FEW MINOR CUTS; HOWEVER, I AM STILL FINDING GLASS. I CONTACTED NISSAN REGARDING THIS MATTER AND HAVE A CASE #[XXX]. IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THIS ISSUE FIXED BY TAYLOR AUTO MAX IN GREAT FALLS, MONTANA. AS I WAS RETURNING HOME NOTICED A STRANGE DRIVETRAIN NOISE. I AVOIDED USING THE INTERSTATE AND STAYED ON THE CITY STREETS SO THAT IF ANYTHING HAPPENED IT WOULD BE AT A SLOWER SPEED. IN JUST A COUPLE MILES A CLATTERING CAME FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN AND HAD NO FURTHER ABILITY TO DRIVE. AFTER TOWING THE MURANO TO NISSAN A DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD FAILED. THE CASE WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN AS CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL GEAR FAILURE. THIS HAPPENED ON MAY 14, 2015. COST TO REPAIR WAS $3800. COMMENTS ONLINE INDICATE THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE THAT NISSAN FAILS TO ADMIT OR WARRANTY. THEY HAVE INCREASED TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO $120K BUT NOT THE TRANSFER CASE. COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF IT HAD FAILED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH.
THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO THE DRIVER SIDE VEHICLE SUPPORT POST BETWEEN THE FRONT WINDOW AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. THIS POST IS VERY THICK AND OBSTRUCTIVE AND IS A MAJOR BLIND SPOT. MY WIFE AND I REALLY HAVE TO ALMOST LOOK AROUND THIS POST TO SEE IF THERE IS A CAR COMING. WE HAVE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DIDN'T SEE A CAR COMING WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I FINALLY HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS VERY REASON. I WAS AT A 4 WAY STOP AND LOOKED TO MY RIGHT AND SAW A CAR COME TO A STOP AT THE SIGN. I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY SO I PROCEEDED AND WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THIS VEHICLE TAKE OFF AT THE SAME TIME I DID, BECAUSE OF THIS OBTRUSIVE POST, I NEVER SAW THE VEHICLE UNTIL HE WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HIT HIM. I ALWAYS TOLD MY WIFE THIS WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND EVEN THE MANY TIMES I MADE SURE I LOOKED, IF ANOTHER CAR TAKES OFF AT THE SAME TIME YOU DO, YOU WILL NOT SEE HIM BECAUSE OF THAT THICK POST AND THE WAY IT IS ANGLED.
