TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 13V445000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. BEFORE THE CONTACT COULD HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO A NEARBY POLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE CONSEQUENCE MENTIONED IN THE RECALL PRIOR TO HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,039.
WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE, THEN SHUDDERED AND STOPPED IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAS DONE THIS A FEW TIMES SINCE THEN, THE MOST RECENT WAS JUST OVER A WEEK AGO. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPT., I WAS TOLD IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THEM DRIVING IT. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF BULLETIN FROM THE FACTORY REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IT CLEARLY STATES THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY PROVIDED ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND TOLD ME IT WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS FOR THEM TO GET ANOTHER TRANSMISSION AND ANOTHER 2-3 DAYS TO INSTALL IT. TWO DAYS AFTER LEAVING IT WITH THEM, I RECEIVED A MESSAGE STATING MY PATHFINDER WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. THE MESSAGE STATED THEY HAD REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TRIED CALLING SEVERAL TIMES TO QUESTION THIS CHANGE OF PLANS, BUT HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO REACH ANYONE WHO CAN EXPLAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO ACCELERATE AS IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
BRAND NEW NEVER DRIVEN 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER BOUGHT. WITHIN 3 DAYS OF BUYING VEHICLE, JERKING MOTION, (LIKE THAT OF GOING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP), WHILE AT STEADY 20MPH. JERKING STOPPED WITH BRAKING AND/OR ACCELERATING. DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN TILL WEEKS LATER. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT AFTER TESTING FOR REPORTED 20 MILES. PROBLEM CONTINUED. NOW HAPPENS AT HIGH SPEEDS. SAFETY CONCERN AS WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS, JERKS FORWARD, CAUSING BREAKING, WITH NEAR REAR END CRASH OCCURRENCE. *TR
ACCELERATING FROM STOPLIGHT ACROSS HIGHWAY WHEN TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. RELEASED ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO STOP VIOLENT SHAKING. REAPPLIED PRESSURE TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO KEEP VEHICLE BEHIND US FROM SMASHING OUR VEHICLE. THIS EXACT SAME SCENARIO HAS OCCURRED OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN THE LAST 4200 MILES. THIS EXACT VIOLENT SHAKING (JUDDERING) HAS ALSO OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. NISSAN CORPORATION IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND REFUSED TO FIX MY VEHICLE. THE PATHFINDER TRANSMISSION HAS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ISSUE ON THE NISSAN PATHFINDER CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE FOR ME. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO THE SERVICE CENTER IN EXCESS OF 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE THAT I HAVE HAD THE CAR (PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2013) FOR THE AIR BAG LIGHT ISSUE. WHEN A PASSENGER SITS IN THE SEAT, THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT MAY STAY ON DURING THE COURSE OF THE DRIVE, INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT AND ONLY AT RANDOM TIMES. THE SERVICE CENTER HAS UPDATED THE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NISSAN PATHFINDER RECALL AGAINST THE AIRBAG ISSUE. THE SERVICE CENTER HAS ALSO REPLACED THE AIR BAG SENSOR. OVER THE COURSE OF TIME, NONE OF THESE "FIXES" HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT IT MAY BE A PROGRAMMING ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAG -- IF A PASSENGER IS NOT FULLY SEATED AND STILL AT THE MOMENT THE CAR IS TURNED ON, THE SENSOR WILL NOT PROPERLY REGISTER THE PASSENGER WEIGHT. TYPICALLY, WHEN THE WEIGHT IS UNDETERMINED OR CANNOT BE IMMEDIATELY READ, THE CAR WILL KEEP THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT ON ASSUMING THAT IT FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE "ADULT WEIGHT" CATEGORY. THE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING WHEN IT FINALLY RE-REGISTERS THE PASSENGER WEIGHT. THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS CAN BE CHARACTERIZED IN MULTIPLE WAYS -- CAR TURNS ON AND PASSENGER IS STILL GETTING IN SEAT; PASSENGER SITS DOWN AS THE CAR IS TURNING ON; PASSENGER IS FULLY SEATED BUT SLIGHTLY MOVES DURING THE WEIGHT REGISTRATION; ETC. REGARDLESS OF THE SITUATION, WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE DRIVER CAN DRIVE FOR A NUMBER OF MILES WITH NO AIR BAG UNTIL THE SENSOR RE-REGISTERS THE PASSENGER WEIGHT AND REALIZE AN ADULT IS IN THE SEAT. NISSAN'S PROGRAMMING OF THE AIR-BAG SENSOR IS NOT WITHIN THE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS FOR AIR BAG SAFETY. I REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA PLEASE REVIEW NISSAN'S AIR BAG PROGRAMMING AND VALIDATE SAFETY. *TR
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON MY NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER 2014. 1. CRUISE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY DISENGAGES GOING DOWN A SHALLOW BUT STRAIGHT ROAD. IN A 3 TO 4 MILE DRIVING STRETCH, IT WILL, AT TIMES, DISENGAGE 2 TO 3 TIMES. 2. THE 'SET' AND 'RESUME' TOGGLE SWITCH AT TIMES THEN DOES NOT RE-ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE SWITCH ACTS DEAD. I THEN HAVE TO SWITCH OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THEN SWITCH IT BACK ON TO HAVE THE TOGGLES SWITCH WORK BUT NOT ALWAYS. 3. THE CRUISE AND SET INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DO NOT FLICKER. THE NISSAN DEALER CARRIED OUT A TEST RUN AND FOUND THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGING EXACTLY AS STATED ABOVE. THEY REPLACED PART #25550-3KS1A, SWITCH ASSEMBLY-STE, TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT. THEY REITERATE THAT SUCH A CONDITION OF CRUISE DISENGAGEMENT AS STATED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL IS CONSIDERED NORMAL AND ACCEPTABLE. HAVING READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL, I DO NOT FIND ANY MENTION OF THE TOGGLE SWITCH INTERMITTENTLY ACTING DEAD AFTER DISENGAGEMENT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL NOR THE HIGH FREQUENCY OF THE DISENGAGEMENT. THIS CONDITION IS CAUSING ME TO CONCENTRATE MORE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RATHER THAN ON THE ROAD. I AM REPEATEDLY UNSURE WHETHER THE CRUISE IS ENGAGED OR NOT. THIS DISTRACTION COULD RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. IT''S LIKE TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. EITHER WAY, THE END RESULT WOULD BE AN AVOIDABLE FATALITY(S).THIS CONDITION CLEARLY AMOUNTS TO A ROAD SAFETY HAZARD. THE MANUFACTURER, BY MERELY STATING THAT THE CRUISE MAY DISENGAGE DRIVING DOWN IN HILLY TERRAIN CANNOT ABSOLVE ITSELF OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR. SUCH HIGH FREQUENCY OF CRUISE DISENGAGEMENT AND TOGGLE SWITCH FAILURE CANNOT BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. MORE THAN LIKELY A SOFTWARE DESIGN PROBLEM. *TR
2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CLIENT IN REGARDS TO BRAKE FAILURE. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE CAME UPON A DEER IN THE ROAD. IN RESPONSE, HE ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE HIS BRAKES; HOWEVER, THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AND/OR DELAYED STOPPING THE VEHICLE AFTER HE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, RESULTING IN AN IMPACT BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND THE DEER. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED NISSAN HAD SUBSTANTIAL ISSUES WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN CERTAIN NISSAN PATHFINDER'S, INCLUDING THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE, AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, WHICH LEAD TO RECALL # 13V445000. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH DOWN A STEEP HILL, SHE ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE, ENGINE, AND KEY ERROR WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,600. UPDATED 03/05/14*LJ ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND POWER TO THE VEHICLE WAS LOST.
CAR LOSES POWER AND SHAKES A LOT DURING ACCELERATION AND DURING TURNS. *TR

PURCHASED 2014 PREMIUM PLATITUM NISSAN PATHFINDER ON 10/9/13. THE SAME EVENING I NOTICED THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKING FROM STOP TO 35 MPH (2000 RPM). I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FLUKE. 4 DAYS LATER THE CAR DID THE SAME THING SEVERAL TIMES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. 3 DAYS AFTER THAT, THE CAR VIOLENTLY JERKED FROM STOP TO 35 MPH ALL MORNING. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DUPLICATED THE ISSUE. SAID CAR NEEDS A TRANSMISSION. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE TO DETERMINE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN. IT HAPPENS QUIT FREQUENTLY WITH THE 2013/2014 CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN THE PATHFINDERS. CHECK EDMUNDS.COM, KBB.COM, ETC FOR REVIEWS. THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ALL SAY THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE WHEN THE CAR IS TRYING TO LEAVE 2ND GEAR WHILE JERKING, IT IS NOT PICKING UP SPEED AND CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO RUN INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR; CAUSING INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY AND NISSAN NEEDS TO STOP PRODUCTION OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. NHTSA PLEASE GET INVOLVED TO STOP NISSAN FROM PRODUCING THESE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS AND TO FORCE THEM TO FIX THE ONES THEY HAVE SOLD TO INNOCENT PURCHASERS. IT'S NOT RIGHT THAT THEY CONTINUE TO TAKE INNOCENT PEOPLE'S HARD EARN MONEY AND PROFIT FROM THAT, WHILE WE ARE FORCED TO PAY TO RIDE IN WHAT COULD BE A ACCIDENT CAUSING VEHICLE; RESULTING IN INJURY AND/OR WORSE CASE, DEATH!!! WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHILE AN ADULT IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND THE VEHICLE HAS 2000 MILES AND RARELY HAS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATES TO INDICATE WHEN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS TURNED OFF. IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN A CRASH AT THIS TIME, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
SINCE 10/12/13, THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED VIOLENT SHUDDERING AND LOSS OF POWER. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT IS ALWAYS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE. WE CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT GETS WORSE. FINALLY AFTER IT BECOMES ALMOST UNABLE TO DRIVE NISSAN ADMITS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REPLACES THE CVT. WE ARE NOW ON OUR THIRD CVT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR ON 7/22/13. WE HAVE TO TRAVEL A TWO LANE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY AND IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND DUE TO LOSING POWER GOING UPHILL WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND THE CAR BEHIND US SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING US. IT HAS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS FROM 30 TO 60 MPH. I AM GRAVELY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY, WE ALSO HAVE A NEWBORN AND I AM SCARED TO HAVE HIM IN THIS CAR BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE. HI SIR/MADAM, MY NAME IS [XXX] I REPORTED TO NISSAN USA CORPORATE OFFICE. I GOT A CALL FROM [XXX], NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE ON 24 SEPTEMBER. INFORMED HIM THE ISSUE.THEN CALLED [XXX], CUSTOMER RELATIONS OF BROWN'S FAIRFAX NISSAN OFFICE. HE ASKED TO OPEN A TICKET WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER RELATIONS. I OPENED A TICKED ON 09/30/2013. THE CASE NUMBER - [XXX]. GAVE THE INFORMATION TO [XXX], CUSTOMER RELATIONS IN BROWN'S NISSAN, FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA. HE SAID HE WILL FOLLOW UP AND UPDATE ME. THERE WAS NO UPDATE FROM HIM SO FAR. TODAY (10/18/2013), I WENT TO THE DEALER. SHOWED THE DOOR SALES MANAGER - [XXX] AND WORKSHOP - [XXX]. [XXX] FIXED THE DOOR PART AND TRANSMISSION (FROM DRIVE MODE TO PARK MODE. IT IS GETTING STUCK AT R IN POWER TRAIN), HE SAID THERE IS AN ISSUE. HE CHECKED WITH THE MECHANIC IN THE SHOP. HE HAS TO FOLLOW UP WITH NISSAN AND I HAD INFORMED I HAD OPENED CONSUMER TICKET. THE DRIVER SIDE VIEW MIRROR CREATES A REAL BLIND SPOT FOR THE DRIVER. IT IS SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR FACE AND BLOCKS YOUR VIEW TO THE LEFT FOR MAKING LEFT TURNS. ALSO, AT AN INTERSECTION ( FOUR WAY), YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE A CAR STOPPED ON YOUR LEFT AWAITING TO CROSS OVER OR TO MAKE A LEFT IN FRONT OF YOU. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISS INCIDENTS AND THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM. THE MIRRORS NEED TO BE REDESIGNED AND PLACED AT A LOWER LEVEL THUS GIVING YOU A CLEAR VIEW THROUGH THE LEFT OR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. *TR
