TIMING CHAIN ISSUES . HAD IT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME AND IT SEEMS IT'S STILL HAS PROBLEMS. LAST REPAIR WAS DUE TO BROKEN GUIDE AND AND BROKEN TENSIONERS. AM WORRIED IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
SITTING IN A DRIVE THROUGH BREAK ON IN DRIVE CAR REVS UP TO ABOUT 70MPHS. I PUT IN PARK AS ITS MOVONG FORWARD TO NEARLY MISS A CAR INFRONT OF ME AND I TURN THE CAR OFF. NOW BREAK COMPRESS TO THE FLOOR.

I WAS DRIVING TO THE DOCTOR WHEN MY VAN LOST ALL POWER IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC ALL MODE GOT HIT BY A TRUCK IN THE REAR END. DO NOT WHAT HAPPENED JUST KNOW IT IS DOWN .CAR HAS NO POWER WILL NOT PULL OUT OR DRIVEWAY
THE VAN TURNS ON BUT IT LOSES SPEED WHILE DRIVING AND IT IS VERY HARD TO MAKE IT ACCELERATE ONCE IT COMES TO A STOP, THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT IT WASN'T. NOW THEY THINK IT IS LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH COMPUTER
WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE, THERE IS ALMOST NO POWER. I PULLED INTO A CAR DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT SOME USED CARS. THE VAN'S ENGINE WAS RUNNING AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK. WHEN I PUT THE TRANSMISSION BACK IN DRIVE AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, WE MOVED FORWARD VERY SLOWLY. LOW AND OVER DRIVE WERE NO BETTER, BUT REVERSE SEEMED FINE. FORWARD GEARS HAVE VERY LITTLE POWER.
CAR STARTED THROWING OUT SERVICE ENGINE CODES AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO INTO ANY OTHER GEARS AND IS HAVING TROUBLE SPEEDING UP PAST 15 MILES PER HOUR. STARTED AY 114342 MILES. OCCURRED AFTER A CLUNK SOUND WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND HAD A HARD TIME MAKING IT UP THE HILL TO OUR HOME.
HAD TO REPLACE COMPLETE TRANSMISSION. LACK OF POWER AND NO REVERSE. BASED ON RESEARCH A HUGE PERCENTAGE OF NISSAN QUEST, NISSAN MAXIMA AND NISSAN ALTIMA FROM 2005 HAVE THIS ISSUE, AND NO RECALLS WAS ISSUED NOR NISSAN DEALER ACCOUNTABLE FOR PROBLEM. PROBLEM HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, HAD LACK OF POWER, MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP, PUT CAR IN PARK, TRIED REVERSE GEAR, AND WAS NOT WORKING, TRIED DRIVE GEAR AND IT MOVES FORWARD BUT WITH VERY LITTLE POWER. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND AND AFTER SEVERAL INSPECTION HE TOLD ME I NEEDED TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION.
FUEL GUAGE-ODOMETER DISPLAY-TEMPETURE DISPLAY WANT READ CORRECT------THIS IS CAUSING A PROBLEM OF NEVER KNOWING IF THE CAR IS HOT OR RUNNING OUT OF GAS.I NEED TO KNOW HOW FAR I HAVE DRIVEN IN ORDER TO CHANGE MY OIL!! DRIVING OR SITTING STILL MAKES NO DIFFERENCE
I'VE HAD THIS VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERS SERVICE CENTER MANY TIMES FOR A LOSS OF POWER. THEY HAD ME REPLACE THE ECU, WHICH HAD TO BE PROGRAMMED, THEN THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. I BOUGHT ALL THREE OF THOSE. AFTER THAT IT NEEDED TO BE PROGRAMMED FOR THE AIR/FUEL RATIO. STILL RAN THE SAME. I BROUGHT IT INTO A DIFFERENT SHOP, THEY SAID IT HAD A BAD THROTTLE. MY BROTHER HAD ONE I HAD PUT IN BUT STILL NO POWER, AND HESITATION AT ACCELERATION AND UP HILLS, AND MISFIRES AND BACKFIRES A LOT. ONE OF THE CODES THEY FOUND FOR ME WAS A TIMING ISSUE. MY BROTHER HAS SAME VAN TOLD ME HE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN. I'VE HEARD A RATTLING AND WHINING NOISE FROM TIMING AREA, SO I LOOKED INTO THIS FURTHER. BACK IN 2004 NISSAN ISSUED A TSB REGARDING THIS ISSUE TELLING TECHNICIANS TO MAKE A "GOODWILL ADJUSTMENT" TO PUSH BACK REPAIRS OF THIS ISSUE UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE LEARNING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN SHOULD IT FAIL. I DRIVE MY CHILDREN IN THAT VAN AND BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. APPARENTLY NOT. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS EVEN TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. I CURRENTLY AWAIT TO HEAR FROM A SUPERVISOR TO GIVE THEM AN EARFUL AND TO FIND OUT THE REASONS WHY IT WILL NOT BE FIXED. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. IF CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY (WHICH WE TRAVEL ALMOST EVERY DAY), THIS WOULD LEAVE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY CRIPPLED AND UNABLE TO STEER OUT OF THE WAY OF ANY DANGER. SOONER OR LATER SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE INJURED IF NOT KILLED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT FROM THIS IF NOT ALREADY. IT'S A SHAME NISSAN DOESN'T SEE THE VALUE OF POTENTIALLY SAVING ITS CUSTOMERS LIVES VS. THE COST OF MAKING NECESSARY REPAIRS. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. I'LL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN.
NOISE, VIBRATION AND SOUNDS INDICATING IMMINENT FAILURE OF ONE OR MORE VALVETRAIN COMPONENTS IN THE VEHICLE'S 3.5L V6 ENGINE. PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO NISSAN; ADDRESSED IN A SERVICE BULLETIN IN 2004. COMPANY FAILED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT, WHICH CONSISTS OF PREMATURE FAILURE OF TIMING CHAIN AND/OR VALVETRAIN COMPONENTS, INCLUDING VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MODULE AND PARTS. THE PROBLEM IS CURRENTLY THE SUBJECT OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
THE ENGINE MAKES A RATTLING NOISE. DEALER SAYS TIMING CHAIN GUIDE NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AT A COST OF $1700. THEY ALSO ASKED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT MAY CAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND ALSO ENGINE DAMAGE
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2005 NISSAN QUEST WENT OUT WHILE ON VACATION IN NORTH CAROLINA FROM OUT OF STATE IN JUNE OF 2015. JUST REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN TODAY 12/16/15 AM LOSING FAITH ON NISSANS RELIABILITY.

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN WENT OFF, THEN ON AGAIN. THE CODE READ THAT THE AIR BAGS WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AND THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG WAS SHORTED OUT.
THE 2005 NISSAN QUEST SE HAS SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH MOTOR MOUNTS AND THEIR FAULTY DESIGN WHICH RESULTED IN A VEHICLE CRASH. MY WIFE WENT TO THE DOLLAR STORE,THIS BEING ABOUT TWO MONTHS AFTER ALL THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED, SHE GOT IN AND STARTED TO BACK OUT AS SHE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 3000 RPM AND THEN JAMMED THE TRANSMISSION INTO GEAR CAUSING IT TO JERK THE WHEEL VIOLENTLY AND BARK THE TIRES THE ENGINE IS SO QUIET YOU CANNOT HEAR IF THIS IS HAPPENING IT PROPELLED THE VEHICLE RIGHT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED ALL THE WAY IN THE PARKING SPACES BEHIND HER COSTING US 2000 DOLLARS TO PAY FOR VEHICLE DAMAGE THERE COULD HAD BEEN PEDESTRIANS AROUND WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND KILLED THERE IS OVER 30000 COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. I URGE YOU TO PLEASE MAKE NISSAN FIX THE DEFECTIVE MOTOR MOUNTS PROBLEMS THERE IS PLENTY OF EVIDENCE ON THIS OUR MOTOR MOUNTS NOW HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 4 MONTHS BECAUSE THEY KEEP GOING BAD COSTING 1200 DOLLARS EACH TIME THEY ARE A BAD DESIGN AND IS URGENT TO BE FIXED BECAUSE THEY HELP CONTROL TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT THANK YOU.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STARTED MISSING GEARS AND WAS STALLING. MY WIFE USES THE VAN FOR SCHOOL AND DROP THE BABY TO DAYCARE. TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT WAS A MUFFLER, I FIXED THAT AND THE ISSUE WAS STILL THERE. THEY THEN TOLD ME IT NEED A TUNE UP COSTING $650. DIDN'T DO IT BECAUSE IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE. AND UNNECESSARY SINCE I ALWAYS DO OIL CHANGES. HAD A TRANSMISSION SHOP LOOK AT IT AND TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS NEUTRALIZING. CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS. NISSAN HAD 2 LAW SUITS AGAINST THEM FOR PREMATURE MALFUNCTION TO THEIR TRANSMISSION AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I SPENT $3000.00 TO GET MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND THE ISSUE IS STILL HERE. PLEASE HELP THE CONSUMERS!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE DRIVING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES IN AND OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE SPEED, FUEL LEVEL, TEMP, TURNING SIGNALS, RPMS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE NECESSARY TO DRIVE SAFELY. SOMETIMES WHILE THE PANEL COMES BACK TO WORKING PROPERLY IT ENABLES THE OVERDRIVE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO JOLT WHILE DRIVING. DURING RESEARCH I FOUND THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND DEALERS QUOTING THEM IN THE 700- THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND A FREE REPAIR AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT'S AFFECTING TOO MANY VEHICLES.
THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDES (TEFLON BASED MATERIAL) IN THE VQ35 ENGINES WERE PREMATURELY CAUSING AUDIBLE RUBBING AND BANGING UPON START UP AND EARLY WARM UP IDLE CONDITIONS. THIS PREMATURE WEAR OF THE TENSION GUIDES IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAS UNDO SLACK FROM EARLY DEGRADATION OF TENSION GUIDES WHICH MAY CAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN TO WEAR/BREAK PREMATURELY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR
MY WIFE NOTIFIED ME THAT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, OUR VAN A 2005 NISSAN QUEST 3.5 S, WITHOUT WARNING COMPLETELY SHUT OFF LEAVING HER STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RETURN HOME. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND TOWN I EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR INCIDENT WHEN AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING THE VAN SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AS I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION ON A RED LIGHT. AFTER BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT BRAKING ASSIST OR POWER STEERING IT RESTARTED AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS. DURING BOTH INCIDENCES THE VEHICLE HAD A FULL TANK OF FUEL AND SHOWED NO INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE DATE OF THE FAIILURE WAS DECEMBER 12, 2012. THE CONTACT HAVE NOT HAD ANY REPAIRS MADE ON THE VEHICLE. THE MILAGE AT TIME OF PURCHASE WAS 120,000 THE MILAGE ON VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE 121,000. LG
FUEL GAUGE IS NOT DISPLAYING AS WELL AS THE ODOMETER AND TEMPERATURE- PREVIOUS OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND CURRENT LITIGATION HAD BEEN PLACED FOR SAME MODEL AND SAME OR DIFFERENT YEARS.. AIR BAG SENSOR ON FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IS NOT ACTIVE BUT A SMALL ADULT IS ON THE SEAT. SIMILAR RECALLS HAD BEEN HAPPENING ON THIS MODEL BUT NOT EXPANDING THROUGH MANY VIN#S BRAKE- SIMILAR RECALLS HAD BEEN HAPPENING ON THIS MODEL BUT NOT EXPANDING THROUGH MANY VIN#S. AN ACCIDENT DOESN'T NEED TO HAPPEN IN ORDER TO RECALL THOSE CAR THAT ARE SUFFERING THE SAME DIAGNOSIS ON CURRENT/APPROVED RECALLS. AN ACTION MUST BE TAKEN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A THUMPING NOISE HEARD WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
I PURCHASED THIS VAN BRAND NEW AND AFTER A COUPLE YEARS BEGAN TO HEAR A SUBTLE TAPPING NOISE EVERY SO OFTEN COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I WAS TOLD ITS A LIFTER TAPPING AND MAY COME AND GO BUT NOT WORTH REPAIRING BECAUSE IT WILL COST A LOT OF MONEY AND IT REALLY DOESN'T EFFECT PERFORMANCE. AFTER ANOTHER YEAR OR 2 THE NOISE GOT REALLY LOUD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE I FOUND HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. COME TO FIND OUT WE ALL HAD THE SAME ISSUE, THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS NOT APPLYING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO THE GUIDE DUE TO A DEFECT IN ENGINE DESIGN THAT CAUSES THE PLASTIC ON THE GUIDE TO BREAK AND SLIP DOWN. THIS CAUSES SLACK IN THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE RAPID TAPPING NOISE AS IT STRUCK THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. AT THIS POINT MY ENGINE WILL NOT START DUE TO THE CHAIN JUMPING TEETH AND THE TIMING THROWN OFF. I AM NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY SO TOO BAD. THIS IS A KNOWN SERIOUS DEFECT WITH THE ENGINE THAT WAS ALSO INSTALLED IN MAXIMA, ALTIMA, AND X-TERRA. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BUT MOST LIKELY DEEMED TOO EXPENSIVE TO PERFORM. ALSO THE ISSUE HAPPENS OVER TIME TYPICALLY BETWEEN 70K-120K MILES THEREFORE MOST VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WON'T COVER IT. THEY DID REDESIGN THE REPLACEMENT PART GUIDE, WHICH TO ME SHOWS THEY KNEW IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW BUT ITS MINIMUM $2000 TO HAVE REPAIRED. VERY POOR WAY TO DO BUSINESS BUT THEY GOT WHAT THEY WANTED I SUPPOSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A DIGITAL FUEL LEVEL GAUGE, MILEAGE METER AND TEMPERATURE METER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NUMBERS ON THE DIFFERENT METERS WERE ERASED AND WERE NO LONGER VISIBLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TELL THE VEHICLE'S TEMPERATURE OR HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS BEING UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CURRENT MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,800.
I OWN A NISSAN QUEST 05.I GOT IT BRAND NEW.I HAD IT FOR 6 YEARS AND AFTER 51,000 MILES I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I NEED ANEW TIMING CHAIN.THEY ARE ASKING $2200.ITS A DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD COVER IT. *TR
THE ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT BOLT, THE BOLT THAT GOES THROUGH THE UNIBODY, BROKE AND DROPPED THE A-ARM SECTION THAT HOLDS THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE, ONTO THE HIGHWAY. 2005 NISSAN QUEST HAD LESS THAN A 1/4 TANK OF GAS AND LIGHT WAS ON. WAS AT DEALERSHIP GETTING BRAKES REPLACED FOR THE 4TH TIME. TOOK VAN TO GAS STATION NEXT DOOR AND PUT 16 GALLONS ($62) OF GAS IN. RESTARTED CAR AND GAS TANK STILL READ LESS THAN 1/4 AND EMPTY LIGHT/WARNINGS STILL FLASHING. DROVE BACK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY TRIED TO RESET AND ENDED UP DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. ONCE THE BATTERY WAS RECONNECTED THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED FULL. THIS WAS OCT 2011 WITH 46,000MI. IT IS NOW APRIL AND CAR HAS 55,000MI. I WAS UNABLE TO DISCONNECT BATTERY SO HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING WITH WARNING LIGHT. AFTER ABOUT 20MI, GAUGE NOW READS LESS THAN 1/2 TANK BUT TANK SHOULD BE READING FULL. THERE WAS ALREADY A RECALL FOR A NUMBER OF NISSAN VEHICLES FOR GAS GAUGE ISSUES. CLEARLY A NISSAN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED ACROSS THE BOARD. HAVING TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO GET THE FUEL GAUGE TO READ IS NOT A GOOD LONG TERM SOLUTION. ALSO THIS VAN GOES THROUGH BRAKES AT AN ASTOUNDING RATE. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS FRONT AND BACK 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 30,000 MI AND NOW NEED NEW ROTORS. ALSO HAVE REPLACED TIRES 3 TIMES. CAR RPM'S WENT UP TO 4.5 THEN ACTED LIKE I HAD TAKEN MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND DROPPED DOWN TO BELOW 1 AND SHOT BACK UP TO 4 AND BACK DOWN TO 1, AND THEN FINALLY KICKED INTO GEAR AND WENT FORWARD. WE HAD IT REPLACED FOR $1100.00. THERE WAS NO NEARBY NISSAN DEALER, BUT THE MASTER MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE PART DID ORDER IT FROM NISSAN. THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY, AS THE PART WAS NOT INSTALLED BY THE DEALER. I VISITED A SITE, QUESTDRIVER.COM WHERE I FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING 2004-2006 NISSAN QUESTS. NEVER WAS THE WARRANTY HONORED BECAUSE NISSAN SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER FAULTY PARTS CORRODED OR RUSTY. MANY DRIVERS CARS STALLED IN COMPROMISING SITUATIONS, AS WE DID. THERE WAS THREAT OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT, THOUGH I DON'T KNOW THE OUTCOME. THE ECM I PURCHASED JUST FAILED AGAIN YESTERDAY. I WAS APPROACHING A BUSY INTERSECTION, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO A SIDE ROAD. HAD I PULLED OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION AND STALLED, I SHUDDER TO THINK WHERE COULD HAVE HAPPENED. THE SAME PART IS CORRODED AGAIN. IT IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE PLACEMENT OF THE PART, JUST UNDER THE WINDSHIELD, WHERE IT IS EXPOSED TO RAIN. NISSAN SHOULD FIND A WAY TO SHIELD THIS PART FROM THE ELEMENTS AND HONOR THE WARRANTY OR REPLACE THE PART AT NO COST. THANK YOU. *TR
