I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON 10/8/17 AND THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED ONE BAR LESS THAN FULL. THIS IS THE 5TH TIME THAT MY FUEL SENDING UNIT HAS BROKEN OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. THE 1ST TIME ON 6/26/10, THE 2ND TIME ON 3/30/11 (REPORTED 3/30/11, REPAIRED 4/13/11), THE 3RD TIME ON 6/6/12 (REPORTED 6/6/12, REPAIRED 6/12/12), THE 4TH TIME ON 6/3/13 (REPORTED 6/3/13, REPAIRED 6/17/13), AND NOW THE 5TH TIME ON 10/8/17. I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE MALFUNCTIONING FUEL SENDING UNIT ON 10/13/17. BUT, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THEY HAD NO DISCRETION OR ABILITY TO MAKE A REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO CALL CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 10/13/17 AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO TWO INDIVIDUALS. BOTH WOMEN ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT WASN'T ACCEPTABLE THAT I'M NOW DEALING WITH THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT A REGIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS SPECIALIST WOULD REVIEW THE CASE AND MY SERVICE RECORDS, AND THEN CONTACT ME WITH A DECISION. AFTER BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SPECIALIST AND HER SUPERVISOR, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE REJECTING MY CASE BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I QUESTIONED THAT AS A REASON, GIVEN I WAS DIRECTED TO THIS GROUP FOR AN 'OUT OF WARRANTY' REVIEW. I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM REPEATEDLY. THIS HAD RESULTED IN THE SAME PART BEING REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER WARRANTY. AND EACH OF THOSE TIMES, IT BROKE ' POINTING TO EITHER FAULTY PARTS BEING INSTALLED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE TAKING THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY. AND A BASIC GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. CAR: STATIONARY PART: FUEL SENDING UNIT
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE CAR WILL JUST STOP GOING. THE CAR WILL STILL RUN JUST WILL NOT MOVE NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT WILL EVENTUALLY KICK BACK IN AND WORK. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS. NO LIGHTS COME ON DASH EITHER. THIS WAS A USED VEHICLE PURCHASE AND HAS ALWAYS DONE THIS FROM 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE TILL NOW. STARTED AT 180000 MILES BUT AS MILES WENT UP IT HAS GOTTEN MORE FREQUENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
SOME 2008 NISSAN ROGUES WERE RECALLED FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR NOT WORKING AND CAUSING THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM NOT TO WORK. THIS RECALL WAS NOT APPLIED TO MY VIN BUT I HAVE DIAGNOSED THROUGH A NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. NISSAN WILL NOT HELP TO COVER THE COSTS OF REPAIR. OUR PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR SWITCHED TO OFF, WILL NO LONGER TURN ON AND OUR SRS LIGHT IS ON.
PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT AND SEAT WEIGHT LIGHT ON. AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING.
THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF NISSAN OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. BELOW ARE SOME OF THE ISSUES WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE AND NOTICED THAT THE GAS GAUGE IS OFF. EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS, THE GAUGE WILL READ THE TANK AS BELOW THE FULL LEVEL. AT TIMES IT WILL SHOW THE TANK AS 3/4 OR 1/2. OTHER TIMES IT WILL SHOW THE TANK AT A FULL LEVEL WHEN IT SHOULDN'T BE, FOR EXAMPLE, 85 MILES DRIVEN ON A FULL TANK OF GAS. I WOULD THINK THAT SHOULD REGISTER AT LEAST ONE NOTCH BELOW THE FULL LEVEL. IT WILL CONSTANTLY GO UP AND DOWN ON THE SAME TANK OF GAS. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THESE ISSUES? I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I FILL UP THE GAS TANK AND IT ONLY READS 3/4 TANK. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. THE LAST TIME THEY ADMITTED THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SENSOR. THEY REPLACED IT, NOW I FILL IT UP AND IT ONLY READS 1/2 A TANK. AND IT NEVER SAID WHEN IT WAS LOW ON GAS, MY WIFE RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT STILL SAID SHE HAD 1/4 TANK. THEY SAY THEY WILL REPLACE IT AGAIN. MY AWD ROGUE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2008. WIFE DRIVES IT EXCLUSIVELY. DECEMBER 2011 MILEAGE TURNED 16,000 AND GAS GAUGE LEVEL FAILED TO REGISTER FULL ON FILL-UP. NOW AT 16,500 MILES AND HAVE TO FILL TANK TO OVER-FLOW LEVEL TO ASSURE IT'S FULL. CONTACTED DEALER SINCE THERE IS A TSB ON ISSUE AND QUOTED $888. FOR SENDER/SUB-SENDER UNIT AND LABOR. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NTHSA ON 1/9/2012. REGISTERED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. NISSAN STATES: THERE IS NO ACTIVE CAMPAIGN OR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. THIS IS A DEFECT AND WARRANTS A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FIVE STAR NISSAN IN WARNER ROBINS, GEORGIA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR FAILED AND THE ENTIRE SEAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 27842207. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
THE CAR LOSES POWER DUE TO CVT MALFUNCTION AFTER DRIVING FOR 40 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY. THECAR WILL NOT GO PAST 50-55. ALSO WILL NOT MOVE AFTER STOPPING AFTER DRIVING ON HIGHWAY.
2008 NISSAN ROUGE TRANSMISSION CVT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BUILT WHILE DRIVING AT TOP SPEED CAR SHUTS COMPLETELY DOWN OR REVS UP VERY HIGH. VERY SERIOUS MATTER SHOULD REMOVE ALL 2008 OFF THE STREETS SOMEONE WILL GET HURT NO MATTER THE YEAR OR MILEAGE IT'S NOT A SAFE VECHIELE!
ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM NOT WORKING. THE CONDUCTOR AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON AND FLASHING, AND THE PASSENGER X 2 ALSO REMAINS LIGHTED AS OFF. BOTH WHEN STARIONARY AND IN MOTION. NISSAN DEALER CHECKED AT REPORTED A CODE EL001 SEAT RH ASSY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEFECT, AND A CODE EL001 CODE AIR BAG MODULE DEFECT. BOTH NEEDING REPARATION.
VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE WITHOUT A WARNING INDICATOR. WILL NOT GO ABOVE 2500 RPM IN TOP GEAR. THIS COMES AND GOES AND ONLY HAPPENS IN HIGH GEAR. THIS WAS TWICE IN ONE DAY ON A HIGHWAY. IT STOPPED AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND RESTED FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE LOWER GEARS WORK NORMAL.
THE VEHICLE STOPPED HONKING WHILE IN MOTION, AND WHEN TAKEN TO A SERVICE CENTER, WE WERE ADVISED THAT THE COIL THAT CONTROLS THE ELECTRIC PANEL STOPPED WORKING. AT THE MOMENT, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HONK, CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK, AND THE ELECTRIC DASHBOARD TURNS ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHILE IN MOVEMENT. RECALL NUMBER 09V-411
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROUGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH A SECOND VEHICLE CRASH INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ERRONEOUSLY DEPLOYED AND DAMAGED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. NO OCCUPANT OR ITEMS WERE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DURING THE INCIDENT. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK AND LUMBAR INJURIES WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. INVALID VIN. *JB
ITAKATA RECALL:BOUGHT THE CAR IN JULY 2016, AND EVERYTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG HAS, OF COURSE IT'S TRIAL BY ERROR, THIS CAR HAD AND STILL HAS EVERY DEFECT THERE IS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF ANY PROBLEMS OR WAS MY VIN NUMBER POSTED IN ANY EVENT WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO LAKE GEORGE, TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 70 WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR DECELERATED, FLOORING GOT US KNOW WHERE, LITERALLY THERE WAS TRAFFIC EVERYWHERE, I PUT MY HAZARDOUS LIGHTS ON AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET OVER TO RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD. ON ANOTHER OCCASION I ATTEMPTED TO GO UP A HILL AND WHILE IN DRIVE THE CAR JUST ROLLED BACKWARDS, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, PERHAPS A WEEK AFTER GETTING MY CAR SERVICED AND MULTI CAR INSPECTION. I TOOK THE CAR BACK ,LADY AT THE DESK INFORMED ME THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE CVT, THEY SEALED IT AND REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLUID , SHE ALSO WENT TO SAY IF IT STILL GIVES YOU PROBLEMS THEN WE WILL REPLACE TRANSMISSION WHILE A FEW WEEKS LATER IT DECELERATED AGAIN. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO FUCILLONISSAN THREE TIMES, THE SERVICE MAN STATED I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE SERVICE LIGHT ON, WHAT HE REALLY MEANT TO SAY IS WE ARE NOT GOING PAY OVER THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, OR WAIT FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO EXPIRE. THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATED LIGHT HAS CAME ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, WHICH IS ALSO A DEFECT , AND REPEATEDLY INFORMED THEM, JUST FILLING THE TIRES UP AND RESET THE BUTTONS PRIOR TO ME OWNING THIS CAR IT WAS SERVICED FOR EMISSIONS DEFECT, THEIR WEBSITE INDICATED THAT THEY MERELY RESET THE BUTTON,BUT THE FACT THAT ARE HAZARDOUS FUMES DON'T EVEN DIRECT THEM TO LOOK FOR LEAK. THE GENTLEMAN FROM NISSAN SAID WAS RESOLVED, PUSHING A BUTTON, JUST LIKE THEY DID WITH TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. NYS ADHERE TO ONE HAND WATCHES THE OTHER,HENCE THEY WOULD PLACE A RECALL, I JUST HOPE AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER GO THROUGH ANY OF THIS.
YEARS BACK IWE HAVE DRIOVE OUR NISSAN 2008 TO A TRIP TO READING CA WE JUST HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALER IN HAYWARD HANDA. WHILE WE WERE IN THE HILL CAR COULD CHANGE GEAR OR POWER WE WERE DRIVING 65 TO 70 MPR AND WENT DOWN TO 20 ON THE FREEWAY. VERY DANGEROUS SPECIALLY POOLING OVER AND HAVE THE CAR RELAX THIS WAS WHEN THE CAR HAD ONLY 70,000 MILES . WE LATER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN THAT NEED TO RECALL AND UPDATE COMPUTER .WE TOOK IT IN AND MY HUSBAND COMPLAINED TO THEM THAT IT WAS MAKING A NOISE WHEN WE ACCELERATED AND HE ALSO MENTION THE FIRST TRIP AND SAID TO US EVERYTHING WAS OKAY . WE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AFTER THAT MY HUSBAND ONLY DRIVE IT TO WORK AND HOME. WE RECENTLY TOOK CAR TO OREGON SAME ROUTE READING AND AS JEW ARE HITTING THE HILL SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN. I INVESTIGATED IT THIS HAPPEN TO THIS CAR AND A LOT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE THIS CAR HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM CALL CUSRTSERVICE AND REFER US TO CONSUMER AFFFAIR WE ARE NOW SPEAKING TO A COSUMER AFFAIR REPRESENTATIVE THEY MADE US PAY TWICE A DIAGNOSTIC IN OREGON NOW IN CALIFORNIA AND I'M PENDING WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO OR HELP ME WITH THIS CAR. MY CAR NOW HAS 123000 THEY HAVE A EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO 120000 . MY PROBLEM WITH NISSAN IS THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN INTO THEIR DEALERSHIP BEFORE THEY SAID IT WAS FINE AND IF I KNEW ABOUT THERE EXTENDED WARRANTY I WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN. NOW THE SECOND DIAGNOSTIC IN CALIFORNIA THAT I HAVE TO PAY 160 THEY SAID THAT I NEED NEW TRANSMISSION AND PENDING IN HOW THEY GOING TO HELP ME. THIS NOT ONLY IT WAS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAVE MY 8 MONTH DAUGHTER AND MY SON IN THE CAR AND HAVE IT STOP AND ONLY GO 20 MPR IN A HIGHWAY WHERE TRUCKS ARE PASSING FAST. AND ALSO STOP EVERY 20 MIN IN THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO LET CAR COOL DOWN. I HOPE THEY CAN DO SOMETHING BEFORE A FAMILY LOSES THERE LIFE FOR A NEGLECTED CAR THAT NISSAN
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE IS FAILING DUE TO OVERHEATING.THE OVERHEATING CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AND THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT EVEN IF I REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, AT $4000, THE NEW ONE WILL LIKELY FAIL AS WELL. I'M TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING BECAUSE THE COOLING FAN IS NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH. I'M ALSO BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN BUT THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A CHEAPER FIX IN ORDER TO PROFIT FROM NISSAN OWNERS GETTING STUCK WITH A BILL FOR $4000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. $4000 IS QUOTE FROM AAMCO TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT FOR 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE ECONOMIC SOLUTION.
NISSAN ROGUE ACCELERATION THE CAR WILL SPORADICALLY STOP ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. SOMETIMES FROM A STANDSTILL THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE QUICKLY. RPMS ARE WILL STILL GO UP BUT SPEED WILL NOT.
I GOT THIS CAR FROM MY DAUGHTER IN MAY. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN JUNE, STOPPED FOR A WHILE & NOW IN WINTER (JANUARY) IT CAME BACK & IS GETTING WORSE TO THE POINT I WON'T DRIVE ON FREEWAY ANYMORE. DECELERATES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS COMBINED WITH JERKING MOTION. ALSO DOES NOT ALWAYS ACCELERATE (DOGS OUT) WHILE PRESSING ON GAS FROM COMPLETE STOP OR TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN SLOW TRAFFIC CAUSING CARS BEHIND TO SLAM ON BRAKES.
WHEN THE CAR IS ON - THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS FLASHING. I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 6 DAYS AGO, I CAN'T SAY HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN ON.
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT BLINK WHETHER ANYONE IS IN THE SEAT OR NOT AND ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON,ANDSTATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
GAS GAUGE SHOW EMPTY SOMETIMES WHEN ITS ON HALF TANK THEN THE ENGINE LIGHTS TURN ON,WHEN GET FULL TANK AND RUN FOR 2 HRS THE ENGINE LIGHTS GOES OFF BUT WHEN GAS TANK GET TO HALF, SOMETIMES WHEN ENGINE STARTS THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY TANK AGAIN AND THEN IN SHORT TIME THE GAUGE START GOING UP AGAIN BUT NOT SURE IF ITS READING RIGHT FILL OF GAS. SOMEBODY SAID IT MIGHT A PROBLEM ON GAS VALVE THAT THE SPRING WON'T WORK GOOD. IT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME ANYWHERE ALL THE TIME, IN MOTION OR IN STOP.

THE MATERIAL IN THE NUT USED TO SECURE THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) MAY CORRODE AND POTENTIALLY CRACK IN AREAS WITH HEAVY CONCENTRATIONS OF ROAD SALT. IF THIS OCCURS, THE NUT MAY COME OUT OF THE SENSOR-TRANSMITTER AND THE TPMS LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE.ACTION NEED TO FIX IT:THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE TPMS NUT WITH A NEW, MORE ROBUST NUT. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 AND INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.
OUR CAR INITIALLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM THE LIGHTS, SEEMED LIKE IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AS IT WAS ON CA 99 , A PRETTY BUSY ROAD. AFTER A RESTART IT SEEMED FINE, UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN WE WERE DRIVING HOME TO SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 3000RPM, PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS AS WE WERE DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN ROAD AT NIGHT . SINCE THEN WE HAVE DRIVEN IT VERY LITTLE, BUT IT JOLTS REGULARLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH SYMPTOMS AND THE SECOND TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 69273 MILES, VEHICLE NOW HAS129000.

WHEN I TAKE OFF FROM A STOP AT A LIGHT OR INTERSECTION, THE CAR INITIALLY TAKES OFF FOR A FEW FEET, BUT THEN THE TRANSMISSION STALLS, AND THE CAR LITERALLY CREEPS THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT A SNAILS PACE. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT OCCURS IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. YOU DO NOT KNOW IT IS HAPPENING UNTIL YOU ARE ALREADY IN THE INTERSECTION AS IT FEELS NORMAL WHEN YOU FIRST HIT THE GAS, AND THEN IT GOES INTO WHAT IS BEST DESCRIBED AS A VERY LOW GEAR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE FROM THIS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND EXTENDED ITS WARRANTY ON THE CVT TO 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILE, BUT NEVER ISSUED A RECALL THAT I AM AWARE. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR WITH MY VEHICLE UNTIL AFTER THE MILEAGE STATED. IT MAY HAVE TO DO WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE AND A FAIL SAFE MODE. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS LOOKS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR ROGUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT FOR MY VIN SEATBELT DOES NOT REGISTER AS BEING SECURE LEAVING SEATBELT LIGHT ON IN CAR.

I HAD AN PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT OFF OCS CODEB1018 OCCUPANT SENSOR UNIT MALFUNCTION AND LOOKING UP ON IT NISSAN HAVE A MASSIVE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE ALL THE WAY TO 2017 VEHICLES. BASICALLY, IF THE PASSENGER IS LESS THEN 150LBS THE AIR BAG SHOULD NOT DEPLOY AS PER NISSAN BUT WITH THE SENSOR BEING FAIL AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AT ALL EVEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS LEAVES THE PASSENGER WIDE OPEN FOR INJURY. I CALLED THE NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IT SEEMS THEY ARE NOT CONCERNED AT ALL. THEY WANT TO ONLY TREAT THIS IF THE VIN IS UNDER RECALL AND NOT IF IT'S NOT UNDER RECALL. I BELIEVE IT'S A LIABILITY AND MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. Problem 1: I always put my purse on the passenger seat, and the air bag deactivation light turns on on the dashboard. One day, I took the purse off yet the light did not turn off. Ever since then the airbag light has been on. The car has been fixed by Nissan since then for another recall, but the airbag was not fixed as they said it was not a recall. When I took it to Nissan to access having them fix the issue last year, they said I would have to pay about $600 out of pocket. The year it occurred was 2014, and the car has not been driven much since then. Problem 2: The left rear door's handle simply broke off in my hand last year. When I took the car to Nissan to see if they stand behind their handles staying on cars, and would replace it, but they gave me an estimate upwardsnof $600 to repair it. Problem 3: The gas guage does not read properly, as I found put when it ran out of gas yet the car was reading a half full tank. Repair estimate for this issue was about $600. Problem 4: The tires always read as flat, even when taken to get filled by a professional. Nissan's estimate to fix this issue was approximately $600. I was informed by Nissan of the Avenues (Jacksonville, Florida) that there are recalls for EVERY SINGLE ONE of those issues for the 2008 Nissan Rogue, but just not for MY specific vehicle.

I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEM ACCELERATING OR SWITCHING GEARS WITH MY CAR. I PURCHASED IT USED IN 2010 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL TWO MONTHS AGO. I WAS ON INTERSTATE 70 EAST ON AN UPHILL AND THE VEHICLE'S SPEED REMAINED AT 40MPH. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE ASSESSED UNTIL MONDAY (TOMORROW). I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE PLENTY OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. MY SON HAS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE AND HE HAD A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE OVER 170,000 MILES ON IT AND I AM SURE IT WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS JUST SHOWS THAT I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A NISSAN VEHICLE AGAIN.

I THEN TOLD HER TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST TRANSMISSION SHOP, (PROVO, 100 + MILES AWAY), AND HE TOLD US ABOUT THE NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES, AND IT WOULD BE $3900 TO REPLACE. THE CAR NOW HAS 123,900 MILES ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING, AND FINDING OUT THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES, WHICH I KNEW THAT THE CAR WAS OVER THE WARRANTY, BUT DECIDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO KEN GARFF NISSAN, NEARBY. THE VERDICT, REPLACE THE CVT TRANSMISSION AT MY EXPENSE, FOR $4600. I TOLD THE TECHNICIAN THAT WHAT'S THE USE OF PAYING THAT MUCH MONEY, AND THEN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN. HE EXPLAINED THAT NOW THEY ALSO INSTALL A CVT COOLING UNIT, WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THAT'S WHAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY DONE, RECALL THE TRANSMISSION, AND INSTALL THE COOLING UNIT. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY, (TODAY), AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING, AND CLOSED THE CASE! THE INVESTIGATOR SAID THAT THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN THE ROUGES FROM 2003 THROUGH 2010. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THAT WAS NOT TRUE, AND IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OTHER MODELS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION, UP TO 2015! HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT TO PUT ME IN A NEW VEHICLE!

WHEN THE CASE OFFICER WITH NISSAN CALLED ME BACK THEY WERE UNWILLING TO WORK WITH US ON THIS ISSUE STATING THAT OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND COULDN'T PROVIDE ME WITH ANY INFORMATION ON THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT WAS RECALLED SO THAT I COULD COMPARE THAT WITH WHAT IS INSTALLED IN MY CAR. AFTER LOOKING AT ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, I THINK THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MORE VEHICLES SINCE THE PARTS INSTALLED CONTINUE TO BE DEFECTIVE AND THIS AFFECTS LIFE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS IN THESE VEHICLES.

SUPPLEMENTAL AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALWAYS FLASHING WHEN VEHICLE IS ON. DEALER DID DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT ENTIRELY. IF THE PASSENGER SEAT IS NOT REPLACED, THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY WHEN IT SHOULD.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 40 MPH THE PASSENGER SEAT LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING SEAT AIR BAGS WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE A 150 LB. PERSON WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. A LIGHT RED INDICATOR LIGHT ALSO CAME ON ON THE DASH AND IT WAS BLINKING. BOTH OF THESE LIGHTS HAVE CONTINUED EVERY TIME WE USE THE CAR WHETHER SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. AFTER SEEING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2008 OCS FROM NISSAN, I TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID OUR VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WHY NOT, HOW DID THEY DETERMINE THAT. THE SAME PART WAS USED ON ALL THE 2008 ROGUES AS WELL AS MANY OTHER NISSANS OF THAT YEAR. WHY IS NHTSA NOT INVESTIGATING THIS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS, PROBABLY MORE, NISSAN VEHICLES 2008-2009 THAT HAVE THIS VERY EXPENSIVE PROBLEM AS WELL AS VERY UNSAFE, LIFE THREATENING ISSUE. NISSANS "VOLUNTARY" RECALL HELPED THEM ESCAPE A FULL RECALL. THEY HAVE NOT HONORED THEIR "VOLUNTARY" RECALL.
I MADE A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ON 9/05/2016 (NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10903665) AND HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO ADD. I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN REP THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. THEY SAID THE SENSOR WAS CHECKED IN 2008 AND WAS OK, THEREFORE, THEY WERE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FAILURE OF THAT PART. THE ORIGINAL PART THAT WAS RECALLED IS THE PART THAT IS STILL IN MY VEHICLE. THAT PART HAS FAILED. I GOT RECORDS FROM THE NISSAN DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOR THAT RECALL AND THEY SHOW THAT THEY DID THE RECALL ON 12/01/2008 AND THEY ALSO SHOW THEY DID ANOTHER OCS INSPECTION ON 02/09/2010 DUE TO CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. EVIDENTLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH IT AT THAT TIME. THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE PART. MY GUESS IS THAT THEY RESET IT AND THAT WORKED AT THAT TIME. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT WOULD BE UNSAFE FOR ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THAT REQUIRES APPROXIMATELY $1,700 TO REPLACE A PART THAT IS UNDER RECALL BY NISSAN THAT THEY CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE MADE TO BACK UP THE VOLUNTARY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCIN THIS ISSUE. ALSO, PEOPLE CHECKING VIN NUMBERS TO SEE IF THEIR VEHICLE WAS PART OF THAT RECALL NEED TO LOOK FURTHER AS WHEN I CHECKED MY VIN NUMBER IT DID NOT SHOW THAT IT WAS PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT ACTUALLY WAS PART OF THAT RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIED SPEED THE ROGUE WILL REFUSE TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPMS WILL RISE, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT GO NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES AND WHEN I RESEARCH ONLINE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUES WITH ROGUES OF THIS YEAR. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR COLLISIONS DUE TO THIS ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CODE WAS RESET; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
This happened a few years ago. I would always place my purse on the passenger seat when driving. The air bag deactivation sensor would be tripped due to a lightweight item being placed on the passenger seat. One day, approximately 4 years ago, I noticed the light warning that it was deactivating would not turn off. After a couple of months of this still being on, I took it into Coggin Nissan at the Avenues of Jacksonville. As I was getting signed in to the service department, they quoted me $150 just to look at the car. I recounted that it is an obvious safety hazard, as the air bags are involved, and there was a recall for the 2008 Rogue for that very issue. I asked for my car back and left. Then called to place a complaint. Nothing came of it, as the car was our second vehicle, and it is rarely driven. The car was purchased late in 2007, as a flagship Rogue. It has 125,000 miles, and should be able to be driven more often, especially when we have family visiting, but it sits unused except for little jaunts in the neighborhood, or if there is no other recourse.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2008 NISSAN ROGUE IN 2008. I'M ON THE 3RD TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR. EACH TIME THE SAME THING GOES WRONG. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GETS HOT ON A LONGER THAN 2 HOUR TRIP, IT LOSES POWER. ON 7-23-16 ON A 400 MILE TRIP, HALF WAY INTO THE TRIP IT STARTS TO SLOWLY LOSE POWER. THE FASTEST I CAN GO IS 60 MPH. GOING UP HILLS IT'S ABOUT 45MPH AT FULL SPEED. THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER 2 TRANSMISSIONS. NOW I HAVE 128,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. IS IT STILL A FREE REPLACEMENT ON THE TRANSMISSION? I PROBABLY ONLY HAVE ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON THIS LATEST TRANSMISSION. MY QUESTION IS, WILL THE DEALER REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE?
