I WAS DRIVING ON 95N AND GETTING OFF AN EXIT RAMP WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING FELL OUT OF MY CAR. THE LOUD NOISE THEN TURNED INTO A DRAGGING NOISE AS IF SOMETHING DID FALL OUT OF MY CAR. I IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. AFTER STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY I REALIZED MY GEAR SHIFTER WAS LOOSE AND I WASN'T ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ANY LONGER. THE POLICE AND TOW TRUCK EVENTUALLY CAME AND MY CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. THE CAR WASN'T READY UNTIL THIS PAST SATURDAY 2/21/15. MY MECHANIC ISSUED ME AN INVOICE THAT SAID "DRIVE SHAFT BROKE FROM TRANSMISSION YOKE RIPPING THE SHIFT CABLE FROM THE SHIFTER AND BROKE THE SHIFTER". *TR
VEHICLE LOSES POWER, HESITATES, AND LACKS ACCELERATION, ALL TO THE POINT OF BEING UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I OFTEN CANNOT MAKE IT UP HILLS AND CANNOT PASS CARS ON HIGHWAYS I'VE ALREADY HAD THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE REPLACED (IN JANUARY OF 2015), AND NOW REQUIRE A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE INITIAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAME AT APPROXIMATELY 74,000 MILES. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 54.5K MILES ON IT.
THE LIGHT OF THE AIRBAG TURN ON AT THE DAME TIME THAT THE CONTROLS OF THE STEERING WHEEL DONT WORK TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION AND THE LIGHT OF THE AB STILL ALWAYS ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000. UPDATED 5/12/15*CN
CAR TRANSMISSION MAKES WHINING SOUND. AS YOU DRIVE UP AN INCLINE IT GETS WORSE. CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. YOU ARE FORCED TO PULL OVER AS YOU HAVE NO POWER. AFTER 5 -10 MINUTES THE CAR WILL START UP AGAIN. CAR WAS BROUGHT TO NISSAN AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THEY INSTALLED AN EXTERNAL OIL COOLER AS THEIR CVT TRANSMISSION HAS ISSUES WITH OVERHEATING. THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR JUST SHUTS DOWN AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY NISSAN. NISSAN CHARGED $1000 TO FIX THE ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALLED SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND SITUATIONS WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER ROGUE OWNERS. *JS
I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 NISSAN ROGUE WHEN I HEARD A BANGING NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR BOARDS SO I TURNED AROUND AND HEADED BACK HOME WHEN THE TRUCK CAME TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK SO I WENT UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND IT HAD BROKE A U JOINT AND THE U JOINT WAS COMPLETELY COVERED IN RUST WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT STILL TURNING IT HAD SNAPPED THE SHIFTER CABLE. I HAVE SPOKE WITH NUMEROUS PEOPLE THAT HAVE WORKED ON CARS BEFORE AND THEY SAID THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED AT THIS LOW OF MILEAGE. I ALSO SPOKE WITH THE PARTS MANAGER FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND HE HAS WORKED ON NISSANS FOR 20 YEARS AND HE SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WORK WITH NISSAN AND THEY ARE TRYING TO SHOVE THE DEAL THAT THEY HAVE FOR ME DOWN MY THROAT AND I AM NOT WILLING TO TAKE IT SINCE THIS IS A FAULT OF NISSAN ON A BAD PART THAT THEY INSTALLED ON MY TRUCK. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER RECALL ON MY TRUCK THAT I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF AND I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED AT NISSAN DEALERSHIPS SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN 2011. *TR
THE ELECTRICAL AIR BAG SENSORS FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT HAVE BECOME DYSFUNCTIONAL. THE AIR BAG LIGHT INDICATOR CONTINUALLY FLASHES ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE SPECIFIC AIR BAG PASSENGER LIGHT STAYS ON. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR AND THE DEALERSHIP CLEARED A CODE ASSOCIATED WITH THE AIR BAGS SENSORS. THE AIR BAG LIGHTS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN RETURNED BACK TO FLASHING AND/OR STAYING ON CONTINUOUSLY. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE SENSORS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ARE NOT WORKING AND THAT IT WILL COST $2,500 TO REPAIR. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2008 NISSAN ROGUE AIR BAG SYSTEMS BUT APPARENTLY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE 2009 MODELS. I AM NOT PAYING $2,500 TO REPAIR SENSORS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MALFUNCTION OF THE PRODUCT THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME AND SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOT BEEN ON AT ALL IT RANDOMLY OCCURS. IT SEEMS THAT IT WOULD BE AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION FOR A VEHICLE TO HESITATE IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION. IT IS ANYWHERE FROM A 2-10 SECOND DELAY. I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MANY OWNERS OF THE NISSAN ROGUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR WORSE DEAD. I AM SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE BUT WHEN I AM MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC AND I'M MET WITH VEHICLES COMING TOWARDS ME AS MY VEHICLE HESITATES TO ACCELERATE I WOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE FOR BOTH ME AND MY FAMILY. *TR
2009 NISSAN ROGUE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A FAILURE TO REMEDY CVT TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING DESIGN DEFECT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SLOW DOWN AND IT WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE CONSUMER STATED NONE OF NISSAN'S REMEDIES WORKED, DESPITE HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHED AND REPLACED, AND THEREAFTER, HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED A NEW COOLANT TANK WOULD FIX THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE AND THE VDC LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT TEN SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE BUT ONLY UP TO 15 MPH. THE PROBLEM RECURRED 7 TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STOP LIGHT SWITCH AND BRAKE LAMP SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,664.
I WAS TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY ON A LONG DISTANCE TRIP AND AFTER ABOUT 2 1/2 HOURS, MY VEHICLE WON'T ACCELERATE PAST 60 MPH AS I WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT WAS DANGEROUS THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE VEHICLES(INCLUDING BIG TRUCKS) BEHIND ME HAD TO BRAKE BECAUSE OF MY UNEXPECTED NO ACCELERATION. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS LIT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO INDICATE ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER A THE REST STOP, THE VEHICLE WENT BACK TO NORMAL BUT DID IT AGAIN WHILE RETURNING THREE DAYS LATER AND AFTER DRIVING FOR MORE THAN TWO AND HALF HOURS. CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN DEALER TO GET CHECKED. CALLED DEALER AND I HAVE APPOINTMENT NEXT WEEK. *TR
MY GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 80 EAST HEADING UP TO TRUCKEE. WHILE CLIMBING IN THE MOUNTAIN THE CAR LOST THE ABILITY TO REV HIGHER THAN 2500RPM. HER SPEED TROPPED FROM 65 TO 35 ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS SHE GAVE THE CARE WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 35 MPH. SHE HAD TO PULL OVER OFF THE FREEWAY AND AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR FOR 15 MINUTES EVERY RAN FINE. NOW ANY TIME WE DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 60 MINUTES WE LOOSE POWER AND HAVE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY TO LET THE CAR REST BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER. ALMOST BEEN IN TWO ACCIDENTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 NISSAN ROGUE. BOUGHT IT USED FROM YEAR, AT ABOUT 55000-60000 MILES THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTS TO FLASH WITH NO INCIDENT BEFORE. I WENT TO THE DEALER HE FOUND A B1018 CODE AND SAYS MY FRONT SEAT SENSOR IS NO GOOD. NEEDS TO REPLACE THE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY, AND WANTS 3000$ FOR THAT. I LOOKED IN THE WEB AND SAW THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE ROGUE. AND THEY HAD SOME RECALLS BECAUSE OF THAT. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THEY COULD LOCATE ALL THE BAD SENSORS THE USED SO PROBABLY I GOT A BAD SENSOR TO START WITH. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW WITH THE CAR. ANY SUGGESTIONS? HELP? I THINK NISSAN SHOULD BARE THE COST OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT FOR HOURS BEFORE IT COULD BE RESTARTED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. MY 2009 NISSAN ROGUE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. OUT OF NOWHERE MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH, I BROUGHT IT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT IT WAS THE AIRBAG SENSOR UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS IT TAKES CERTAIN PROGRAMMING TO MAKE THE AIRBAGS WORK APPROPRIATELY. I THEN BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $200 TO HOOK THEIR MACHINE US TO READ THE CODE TO EVEN BEGIN THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCESS I'VE BEEN TOLD THEM THAT THIS IS REPORTED ON LINE TIME AFTER TIME AGAIN SPECIFICALLY ON THE 2008 AND 2009 MODELS AND I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO HOOK UP A MACHINE TO READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE IN WHICH I HAD IN MY HAND. AFTER DOING MORE RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE HAD NUMBERS BETWEEN $300 AND $2,000 BE QUOTED FOR THIS PART TO FIX THE ISSUE AND ACCORDING TO MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE SAID THEY PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED AT SOME POINT THEY CAME BACK AND REISSUED NEW COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME FORM THAT IT DOES HAPPEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN. HOW IS NISSAN NOT FIXING AN ISSUE THAT MAKES THEIR AIRBAGS DISFUNCTIONAL AND NOT DEPLOY? I GUESS IT TAKES SOME DEATH AND A LAWSUIT BEFORE IT WILL GET DONE. *TR
THE CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" UNEXPECTEDLY AND DOES NOT MOVE. NISSAN'S OLDER CVT TRANSMISSION GETS HOT AND TO PROTECT ITSELF, NISSAN HAS IT PROGRAMMED TO SHUT ITSELF DOWN. AS A RESULT, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN GEAR. THIS HAPPENS AFTER LONG HIGHWAY DRIVES (1 HOUR +) OR WHEN CLIMBING LONG HILLS. THE DEALER SOLUTION IS TO CONTINUALLY FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERY 30K MILES AT A COST OF OVER $200 EACH TIME. THIS IS VERY VERY VERY DANGEROUS, IF YOU ARE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN INTO TRAFFIC AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THERE IS A HUGE POTENTIAL TO BE INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, CLIMBING A HILL, THE CAR HAS AGAIN, GONE INTO LIMP MODE AND SLOWED DOWN TO A CRAWL, MAKING THE VEHICLE BEHIND YOU ALMOST REAR-END YOU. ADDITIONALLY, NISSAN'S ANSWER HAS BEEN TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION TO 120K, BUT THAT IS OF NO VALUE BECAUSE THE DEALERS WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT THE CVT NEEDS REPLACING NOR DOES IT PAY FOR THE $250 CVT FLUSH. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS, IT IS VERY VERY VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY 2009 NISSAN ROGUE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BEING UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE WITH SPEEDS OF 55MPH AND ABOVE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR ALMOST A YEAR. I'LL BE DOING 60-75MPH AND THEN I NOTICE THAT MY FOOT IS ON THE FLOOR BOARD AND I'M LOSING SPEED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED (JULY 11, 2013) I LOST ALL SPEED AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. ON TOP OF IT I WASN'T ABLE TO GET MY CAR TO START FOR 20 MINUTES. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AFTER IT HAPPENED WHO SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE, AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE LOSS OF SPEED HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 5 OCCASIONS SINCE LAST SUMMER. *TR
THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE SINCE I HAVE SEEN ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS ONLINE THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NO THERE WAS NOT AND TO TAKE IT INTO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. *JS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY NOTHING MORE THE 50MPH. AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED ON THE HIGH WAY WITH OUT NOTICE. THE GLASS CUT MY SKIN ON MY HAND. AND WAS A LOUD EXPLODING SOUND. AS I DONE RESEARCH ON MY EXPLODING SOUND ROOF INCIDENT ON GOOGLE ON THE INTERNET. I FOUND OUT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODING WHILE DRIVING. NOTHING FELL ON MY CAR. BUT CAUSED GLASS TO FALL ON ME AND ALMOST A ACCIDENT FROM SHOCK OF THIS HAPPENING. I AM BEGGING YOU TO PLEASE MAKE THE 2009 NISSAN ROGUE SUNROOFS A RECALL. VEHICLE'S CVT TRANSMISSION REGULARLY ENTERS "SAFETY MODE," TRIGGERING A SUDDEN LOSS IN POWER AT HIGH SPEED (75MPH+). NISSAN AWARE THAT THE ISSUE EXISTS AND IS WIDESPREAD, BUT WAITS FOR COMPLAINING CUSTOMERS TO COME TO DEALERSHIP TO INSTALL A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER FROM WHICH I PURCHASED THE CAR THERE IS AN APPARENT PROBLEM WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION WHEN IT OVER HEATS, IT SHUTS DOWN AND WILL NOT ALLOW ACCELERATION. THIS IS ALSO STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, BUT IS NOT APPARENTLY VIEWED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. ( DON'T AGREE), BUT IT SEEMS SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE TO BE INJURED OR DIE IN ORDER FOR NISSAN TO RECALL THESE TRANSMISSION'S, THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LATEST BEING LAST FRIDAY 05/21/2005 WHEN I WAS STOPPED FOR RED LIGHT AND COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE.
I WAS HIGHWAY DRIVING FOR 40 MILES WHEN MY NISSAN ROGUE STARTED TO GET LOOSE AND MAKE AN ODD NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE RODE WAS DAMP IN PLACES, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO ENGAGE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. TRAVELING ON, IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY REPEAT THE NOISE AND WOBBLE. 60 MILES INTO THE TRIP, I WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH AND NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES WHEN THE STEERING GOT EXTREMELY WOBBLY AND I HAD LITTLE CONTROL OVER THE CAR. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO EVEN PULL OVER. ONCE I GOT IT STOPPED, I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND HAD TO PULL UP TO READ A ROAD SIGN AND THE STEERING WAS STILL WOBBLY JUST PULLING FORWARD. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEARBY NISSAN DEALER WHO WORKED ON IT FOR OVER 3 HOURS AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS OR PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL AND WAS TOLD, "NO." *TR
VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION WHILE CHANGING LANES AND CRASHED WITH ANOTHER FASTER CAR. *TR
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HAVE TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH, I WAS DRIVING AND HAD MY GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR SEEMED TO HAVE NO POWER. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY FOR SAFETY PURPOSES AND ONCE I CAME TO A STOP OFF THE INTERSTATE I TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN TOWARDS A GAS STATION AND MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I LET OFF THE GAS AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE, FINALLY SUCCESSFUL AFTER A FEW TRIES. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND WHILE I HAVE HAD CHILDREN IN THE CAR MAKING IT VERY UNSAFE. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 120K MILES BY NISSAN AND SINCE I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING ME OF THIS I JUST RECENTLY PASSED 120K MILES. IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS PROBLEM EVERYONE DIAGNOSED IT AS FUEL PUMP/INJECTION ISSUES AND NOW IT'S TOO LATE TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY WITH AS MANY PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. SINCE MAY OF 2014 I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND NOW THAT I HAVE GOTTEN THE PROPER DIAGNOSIS I FEEL LIKE NISSAN IS PUTTING PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AND OTHERS THAT WERE NOT PROPERLY NOTIFIED IN TIME OF THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY ON SERIOUS DANGER. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT NO ONE HAS HIT ME WHEN I TAKE OFF FROM A STOP SIGN AND MY TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT INTO GEAR LEAVING ME STALLED. THIS IS NOT OK AND THEY SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH PUTTING A LIMIT ON WHEN TO FIX OR REPLACE DAMAGED PARTS!

OUR TECHNICIAN THEN HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A FIRECRACKER GO OFF. WHAT WE FOUND WAS THAT THE SIDE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED! WE THEN ACCESSED THE FAULT CODES IN THE SRS SYSTEM AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING. B1211 ROLLOVER DETECTION, B1081 & B1086 PRETENSIONER RT FT & LT FT (OPEN),B1145 & B1150 CURTAIN MODULE (OPEN), B1177 FT RT SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER, & B1018 OCCUPANT SENSOR (UNIT FAIL). WHEN WE CHECKED WITH THE NISSAN DEALER IN KALAMAZOO, THEY SENT US A TSB, DATED 01/27/2014 # NTB08-055C WHICH ADDRESSES PROBLEMS NISSAN IS HAVING WITH ALL VEHICLES!! WE HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING TO OWNERS OF NISSAN'S. WE WERE USING NO POWER TOOLS ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ONE DAY, THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE, THE CAR EXHIBITED EXTREMELY POOR ACCELERATION FROM A STOP (I.E. STARTING A CAR IN 4TH GEAR). THE CAR WOULD VERY SLOWLY ACCELERATE TO ~25MPH, THEN BEGIN TO PERFORM BETTER. CLEARING AN INTERSECTION FROM A STOPPED POSITION TOOK UP TO 5-10S LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. ALSO DETERMINED THAT THE CAR NO LONGER HAD FUNCTIONING BREAK LIGHTS. CAR WAS NOT SAFELY USABLE. SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL, BASED ON INTERNET SEARCHES. THE DEALER CLAIMED INITIALLY TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE AT ALL OF THIS ISSUE. DEALER REPLACED BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH AND PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. REPAIR WAS NOT DONE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WAS DONE UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I STILL HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THIS KNOWN, SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE REPAIRED. *TR

AFTER A VERY COLD DAY IN TENNESSEE, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE DOORS IN MY NISSAN ROGUE WOULD NO LONGER OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. AFTER VISITING THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THE BRACKET AND THE CABLE ACTUATOR IN BOTH DOORS HAD GONE BAD AND THAT THE COST FOR THE REPAIR WOULD BE OVER $1,000. THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD AND THAT NISSAN IS NOT STANDING BEHIND ITS PRODUCT IS APPALLING. WHILE THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT YET, THIS MALFUNCTION COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN EMERGENCY RESPONDER (OR HELPFUL CITIZEN) BEING ABLE TO GET TO SOMEONE FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT OR VEHICLE FIRE. ON DEC.30 2013 WENT TO OPEN FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND HEARD A POP AND DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, HAD TO CRAWL THROUGH PASSENGER SIDE TO OPEN DOOR. CONSUMER STATED SHE IS HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE ON UPHILL SLOPES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED AS IT DID NOT ACCELERATE. ON A TERRAIN LEVEL, THE VEHICLE WOULD BARELY MAINTAIN SPEED, TO WHICH IT SLOWED DOWN. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
I AM WRITING TO ALERT THE NHTSA TO A POSSIBLE DEFECT IN NISSAN'S AIRBAG CONTROL SYSTEM FOR THIS VEHICLE AND TO REGISTER MY DISSATISFACTION WITH HOW NISSAN NORTH AMERICA RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST FOR A REMEDY. I PURCHASED THIS 2009 NISSAN ROGUE AWD AT AUCTION ON 3 JULY 2013. NISSAN'S LEASING ARM WAS THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I NOTICED FROM THE OUTSET THAT THE LIGHT INDICATING THE STATUS OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SOMETIMES SHOWED INACTIVE, EVEN WHEN AN ADULT WEIGHING OVER 50KG WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, AND BROWN'S FAIRFAX NISSAN WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE CONDITION WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A CHECK ON 13 JULY 2013. THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY OF LATE, AND NOW THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OCCASIONALLY SHOWS THAT IT IS ACTIVE, EVEN WHEN THERE IS NOTHING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. BROWN'S WANTED $128 TO "DIAGNOSE" THE PROBLEM BUT, SINCE IT REMAINED INTERMITTENT, WAS NOT SURE ANYTHING WOULD COME OF THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. AT ABOUT THIS TIME, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR AN ECM PROBLEM (BY THE WAY, THE VEHICLE INITIALLY FAILED EMISSIONS INSPECTION IN JULY OF 2013 WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY REGULAR SERVICE STATION, BUT BROWN'S WAS ABLE TO GET A "PASS" READING). I ASKED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA TO AUTHORIZE BROWN'S TO CONDUCT A DIAGNOSIS OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG PROBLEM AT THE TIME OF THE ECM REPAIR. NISSAN REFUSED. BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM REMAINS INTERMITTENT, I AM UNSURE HOW TO PROCEED. I DO NOT WISH TO PAY $128 SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPEATED "DIAGNOSIS", BUT CLEARLY SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT IN CASE OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH NISSAN VEHICLES MIGHT HAVE BEEN RECORDED. FOR NOW AND UNTIL THE PROBLEM BECOMES CONSISTENT, I WILL NOT CARRY FRONT-SEAT PASSENGERS. *TR
MY CAR WAS IN GARAGE RUNNING IN PARK. STEPPED OUT OF VEHICLE , WAS STANDING OUTSIDE DOOR. CAR SHOT BACKWARD OUT OF GARAGE, ONTO DRIVEWAY. NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE IT. MAKE A SHARP TURN WITH BACK END COMING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND FACING TO THE RIGHT OF MY GARAGE. (MY TWO LEGS RUN OVER BY THE VEHICLE AS IT TURNED AROUND). CAR PROCEEDED TO TURN FORWARD DOWN HILL OVER FRONT OF MY YARD AND STOPPING IN MY NEIGHBORS EMPTY LOT NEXT TO THEIR HOUSE. COMING TO A STOP AFTER HITTING A TREE. AFTER LOOKING IN VEHICLE AFTER IT STOPPED, CAR WAS IN PARKED GEAR. *TR
