Was at work parked in my 2023 Nissan Rogue at 5:30am today, when rear back windshield exploded. Sounded like a gun shot, defroster was off, temperature was about 29 degrees.
The most recent incident the emergency brake locked on and the dash flashed system malfunction , maintenance needed, , emergency braking system shut down and several indicators were shut down . This continued for 90 minutes while I was on the phone with Nissan and was waiting for the tow truck when arriving at Nissan 72 miles away , they were not able to find any codes and the car was fine no issues . Luckily I have video to back my story . I have pictures and videos of other times it has done this , but no one will look into why it keeps doing this and it’s done it several time over 2 1/2 years . They changed the stop /start button and it helped but now it’s starting to flash the emergency braking system is off again which is a build up to a major episode again. My rogue has less than 40, 000 miles on it and has been one issue like this after another with them slapping band aides on it and not finding the source of the problem. They even claim it cleared the bearing failure test but the test was preformed while it was on route to Nissan on a tow truck .
Sunroof, shattered or exploded while driving on the highway, due to defect. nothing hit it to cause the breakage
The rear window exploded while driving down the road. It sounded like a gun went off.
At 7:20am on Dec 5, 2025, we used the remote start on our 2023 nissan rogue which was in our unopened garage. We heard a loud sound and walked out to find the back window shattered. It looks like it blew out by the heating element (defroster) on the window. It was roughly 10 degrees outside and maybe 40-50 degrees in our garage. We have not had this issue in the nearly 2.5 years we have owned this vehicle.
I am reporting a premature corrosion issue on my Nissan Rogue with approximately 25,000 miles. Rust has developed on the roof panel, which is highly unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. The vehicle was purchased in early December 2025. To my knowledge, this condition was not disclosed by the selling dealer, CarMax, along with other issues identified after purchase. To the best of my knowledge, the vehicle has been properly maintained and not involved in any accidents, as none were reported or disclosed. The rust appears to be developing under or through the paint, suggesting a defect in factory paint or corrosion protection. I first brought the vehicle to Mossy Nissan on February 11, 2026, and was referred to their body shop, which completed a report on February 12, 2026. However, the dealership did not submit the claim to Nissan until March 4, 2026, causing a delay. After submission, I was contacted about a week later for mileage. Despite multiple follow-ups from me, there was no timely response. I was asked again to bring the vehicle for inspection, which I did promptly. After these delays, I was informed the claim was denied without a satisfactory explanation. Given the roof location and the vehicle’s condition, this raises concerns about a possible manufacturing defect and the claims process. Premature corrosion may affect long-term integrity and value. I request this be investigated as a defect in materials or workmanship and that Nissan provide an appropriate repair. I also request review of whether this condition should have been disclosed at the time of sale.
On December 3, 2025, while parked in the hospital parking lot, the rear hatch window of my vehicle suddenly shattered without any impact, collision, or outside interference. I approached my vehicle and found the glass completely busted outward. I immediately contacted hospital security. They reviewed the surveillance footage and confirmed the following: No one was near or tampering with the vehicle at the time the window shattered. There was no visible impact, vandalism, or external cause. The video clearly shows the window spontaneously breaking on its own. After leaving the hospital, I contacted the Nissan dealership. They stated they had “never heard of anything like this.” However, after researching online, I found numerous complaints from other owners reporting similar spontaneous rear window failures in Nissan vehicles. This raises concerns that the issue may be related to manufacturing defects, glass stress fractures, faulty hinges, or improper pressure seals. At this point, I am seeking assistance and clarification on how to proceed regarding the repair, warranty coverage, and potential safety defect reporting.
I was parking at my workplace and when I was getting out of my vehicle and back windshield glass just completely shattered and I have done some research to find out that I’m not the only one that deal with the issue a lot others people have had that happen to them.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle and walking away with the keys, the doors of the vehicle automatically locked as designed; however, the rear doors of the vehicle failed to unlock, preventing the contact's sister, who was occupying the rear seat, from exiting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that upon returning to the vehicle, the contact became aware of the issue, and the contact also noticed that the front driver's side door failed to unlock as intended. The contact stated that the failure required the contact to enter the vehicle through the front passenger's side door to get the groceries out of the way for her sister to exit the vehicle through the front passenger's side door. The contact had briefly lost the keys and was able to unlock the doors after finding the keys. The contact stated that the rear doors' failure to unlock did not occur due to the child-lock system. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start on another occasion. A mobile technician from a service contractor was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The technician also recommended that the battery be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
See attached document for complaint. I received a safety recall notice on my 2023 Nissan Rogue back in August 2025. We are in December, 2025 and the dealer sti ll states that Nissan has not provided parts to repair my car. The reason for the recall is quite serious yet Nissan has not responded to the problem. I am looking to you to take what ever action you can to force Nissan to repair my car to a safe condition. If there is any additional action I can take, please advise what t hat may be. This has gone on long enough. Thank you in advance for any help on getting this problem solved that you can provide.
Back window completely broke while in my garage overnight
On 11/29/25, my vehicle stalled in the middle of the expressway during high speed traffic. This has happened multiple times but this is the first time this has happened while I am on the expressway. An error message came across the dash “engine malfunction” and I was unable to accelerate. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they reprogrammed something. I have filed a complaint about this issue before. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. I have an open consumer affairs case open with Nissan right now. I received an email from Nissan warning about an engine malfunction the day AFTER my engine malfunctioned. I would like this situation remedied please. This vehicle is unsafe to drive with an open recall.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle suddenly started shaking and vibrating abnormally before the vehicle stalled. During the failure, the message "Engine Failure" was displayed. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, who discovered metal shavings inside the oil pan and advised the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 83,000.
On 11/29/25, my 2023 Nissan Rogue suffered a sudden and complete engine failure while driving at Hwy speed (70mph). The vehicle lost propulsion unexpectedly, which created a significant safety risk. The engine now will not start and the dealership has confirmed the turbo failed forcing coolant into the engine and now it requires a full engine replacement. Prior to the failure, I had received recall information where it states that early warning signs include engine malfunction light. This came one twice, but went off right away. I called to schedule my oil change and asked that I have the recall reviewed, explicitly stating that the symptom was consistent with the known VC-Turbo Engine recall. I was told on the phone that there is no current remedy for the recall and nothing would be scheduled for that at that time. My oil change and tire rotation appointment was 11/18/25. I picked up my car on 11/24/25 upon returning from travel. Five days later the engine failed catastrophically without additional warning. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a turbocharger failure that forced coolant into the engine resulting in catastrophic internal damage. The engine is now inoperable and requires replacement. When I inquired about recall coverage, the dealer stated that they did not observe visible bearing damage and therefore concluded that the active recall does not apply and the current recall protocol can only be applied if the vehicle can run post-update, and since my in inoperable, the protocol could not be completed. The extended warranty will cover the turbo but not the full engine because they cannot identify the full extent of damage without full engine teardown at my expense. The failure mode (engine malfunction light, turbo failure, coolant intrusion, sudden engine shutdown) aligns with the failure pattern on the Nissan engine recall. The absence of visible bearing damage on post-failure inspection does not rule out defect, and the denial is unjust.
While driving down a paved rural road, with no other vehicles around the back window of the lift gate spontaneously shattered. The back window had sustained no damage and had no projectiles exiting or entering the vehicle. The weather conditions are cold and wet and the rear defroster was on at the time.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I was driving down the road when I heard a loud popping noise. When I got out to check I noticed my sunroof/moonroof was shattered. When traveling down the road there were no cars in front of me, no construction sites, and no over passes. The incident happened randomly. There were no problems with the sunroof prior to this. There was no impact.
I was gently and normally closing my trunk as usual today and the entire glass window of the trunk completely shattered. It sounded like a loud pop or a gunshot. Glass flew all over the car and my daughter was in the back seat. I cut my hand on the glass. My car is now making noises and beeping constantly. My backup camera is not working properly. This is a significant safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately.
The heating element in the drivers seat of my 2023 Nissan Rogue shorted out, and started on fire while I was driving. The drivers seat became unbearably hot in less than 4 minutes, I began smelling hot electrical, and by the time I began to pull over, the driver seat was smoking underneath my legs. I could visibly see the white fibers inside of the seat start glowing red as a small hole began to melt between my thighs. I immediately turned the heated seats off and pulled over to exit the car. I have minor burning on the bottom and inside of my thighs. The fire department came to assess and do thermal imaging. It was determined the seats heating element shorted out. There was no warning lights indicating any issues prior to the incident. The heated seats light did begin to flash after the incident.
The engine failed while driving on the interstate at 65+ mph. The malfunction indicator lights came on and beeped loudly, including Engine Malfunction and AWD Malfunction (which I don't have). The vehicle lost power, and the engine began making a frightening noise. I had to get over several lanes with no working gas pedal, and I'm lucky nobody was hurt. I had to be towed thirty miles to the nearest dealership. The dealership, who didn't answer when I called ahead to let them know I was coming, was unhelpful, and employees made jokes about just trading it in instead of fixing it. They said it could be months, and that there's no remedy for the recall. I have to wait until they re-open on Monday to speak with anybody. The only symptom prior was that sometimes the vehicle wouldn't recognize my key fob being near/in the vehicle, but I thought it was a battery problem. I thankfully knew about the recall and mentioned it to the dealership, but they don't seem to be agreeable to loaning me a vehicle in the meantime, so this will be a difficult repair process.
There is an open recall on my vehicle with no repair available and no timeline for the repair. I have already sent my car in for repairs for a previous recall last year due to random stalling. Now my car will sill randomly stall, fail to accelerate, and the engine will shut off in the middle of traffic. There were never any warning signs or messages prior to the failure. I’ve been experiencing engine failure for about a year and a half. I have had the vehicle since March 2023.
This morning when I got into my car and closed the door, the back window exploded. Nothing hit it, there were no cracks, etc. It simply sounded like a gunshot and fell inward into the back of my Rogue. I have seen numerous similar stories online with Rogue back windows shattering for no explainable reason.
The rear window suddenly burst/ cracked/ shattered from the inside out.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the rear windshield had exploded and shattered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
Vehicle: 2023 Nissan Rogue, VIN [Your VIN], KR15 Engine Issue / Complaint: I brought my vehicle to [dealership name and location] for the KR15 engine bearing recall (Campaign 25V437) to have the oil pan and engine inspected for metal debris. The dealer refused to perform the required inspection, claiming “no remedy available yet,” and initially tried to charge me for a diagnostic test. The dealership’s refusal violates federal recall requirements, as recall inspections must be performed free of charge. I am concerned that my vehicle may be at risk of engine damage if this inspection is not done. Request: Please ensure the dealership performs the recall inspection properly and at no cost. I have documentation of the visit.
See attached document for complaint. PLEASE ADVISE! In August of 2025 we received an important Safety Recall on our 2023 Nissan Rogue Vehicle ------copy enclosed. As of yet our car hasn’t been fixed and having a car with an engine that contains a manufacturing set of defects is alarming. Note------- the letter implied that if the engine fails while driving it--- the result would be loss of power. Can’t tell you our concern of having a crash and engine fire. We contacted our Nissan dealer twice now and was told Nissan Company has not gotten the part needed and how to administer it . This is our third Nissan Vehicle which is paid off. Please don’t make us “get rid” of our vehicle with this problem of worry! It is now as you know November 3, 2025 with no remedy in site. We don’t like traveling on the road knowing what could happen to us and our family at any time. We don’t want to make this a public issue for Nissan but we don’t see any effort from your company. We bought over the years Nissan vehicles as we valued their safety and service. Nissan’s performance is showing failure meeting its standards unacceptable!
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while pressing the control button on the steering wheel to change the clock time backwards, the button became stuck, activating and deactivating the steering assist and blind spot detection features. The contact was unable to turn off the steering assist and blind spot detection features. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,200.
On Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2025, about 3:50pm EST, I was driving East on Hwy 25, 5 miles west of near Knox Central High School, heading towards Barbourville, Ky. I was coming from Kingsport, Tn heading to Corbin, Ky to take my mother to her cancer doctors in Lexington on Monday, the 3rd. I was driving 55 mph, in the left lane, the weather was foggy, gray, temp 45 degrees. It was 62 when I left home. I had just turned on both my defrosters because the windows were fogging up. At this time my rear window made an extremely loud pop and exploded! The glass went into the back area of my car. Shards were all around the opening. I was terrified and pulled off the road to the right. I got out and was shocked to see the damage! I took photos and a video. Called my husband, my mom and the Ky State Police to ask what to do. They said to drive on to my mom's house, back it into her open garage, cover it with plastic, and then drive her to the dr early Monday in her car, so I did. Sunday pm: I looked up online what to do and found varying answers, but mainly it said to make detailed notes of the incident (I did), contact the manufacturer (found zero way to contact NISSAN!), and report it to the NTFSA online (they are closed due to the government shutdown). Another place said to call my dealer if still under warranty, call my car insurance if it's not. It was too late by then, went to bed to try Monday. Monday: Mom and I were busy with her tests and dr appts until 5:30, got some food, headed home. Got back, looked up how can a car rear window shatter while driving. It gave a few reasons, and then a list of about 5 known cars this happens to, and my Rogue is one of them! That's why I'm supposed to report it, I suppose. It is certainly dangerous, scary and shocking when it happens! Started filling out this report, here we are. Tuesday: 1st I will call my car dealer. It IS still under warranty. Thank God! I was completely shaken up for a good hour b4 I could drive.
There wasn't an incident yet. But there is a recall that has to do with the engine and i didnt want to drive it anymore now that nissan claims there is no remedy to the recall. There were loud noises the engine was making.
My rogue is smelling like gas almost all the time and I am only getting 225-250 miles a full tank.
Nissan has failed in a timely manner to get the service bulletin out about the engine recall
I have gotten an email notification about my airbags system stating it wasn’t working properly
Engine Malfunction Power Reduce Service Now Wed Aug 20. My 2023 Rogue was at the dealership debating that thye can fix the recall because there is no remedy for the inspection for the recall. My truck stayed at the shop until October. This passed Friday October 31 while driving and picking up donations I began to get on the freeway and the same message happened. I couldn't go over 25mph the dealership was 28 minutes away. My safety was a risk it was the on ramp of the freeway and it was all Freeway to get to the dealership. The food donations I picled up were at risk of not be able.to be served to shelter residents. I receibed and email stating that the fuel injectors and EGR Valve need to replace immediately totatling almost 5,000 after just paying $1700 last month. This is the second time since August with this message but the check engine light has been going on and off with alerts in my car amd nissan app for over 6 months

Failed Power Train part that Nissan Knows about( TSB Notify to shops ) and is not willing to fix. This item is failing premature and can definitely be a safety hazard. My wife was driving this when it completely failed. She was afraid her car was falling apart, vibrating excessively. It is the Left hand side motor mounts. It causes serious vibration throughout the vehicle when driving or stopped. They issued a TSB NTB24-14 for 2021-2023 Nissan rogues. Looking back I would say there was small vibrations around 30-32K miles but it was just intermitting. I'm not a mechanic nor my wife. We bought a Nissan because we were told they were safe and reliable vehicles. I do not feel this way about it anymore.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vibration occurred especially when the vehicle was idling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact was advised that the failure could possibly be related to an unrepaired recall. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Within the first week of owning my 2023 Nissan Rogue, the vehicle began losing power from highway speeds to around 20 mph, stalling during turns, shaking violently, and displaying warning lights. These issues continued for over a year. Several times I nearly crashed because the vehicle suddenly slowed down or lost power on the highway. Nissan repeatedly told me nothing was wrong, but the vehicle was later included in Recall 25V-437 for engine bearing failure. The vehicle became unsafe to drive, and the engine behavior matched the symptoms described by others in the recall.
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving downhill at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The "Reduced Power" message was displayed on the screen. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle intermittently lost automotive power. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with thermal assembly failure. The vehicle was repaired by the manufacturer. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under Manufacturer Recall: P4A47. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Nissan had a recall on the Turbo Hose. Neither the dealer (Carvana) or the manufacturer (Nissan) told us about the recall until the matter was too late. It is available to inspect upon request. My car stop in the middle of the HWY without notice, warning, caution lights on dash, etc. My fiancés, daughter, and myself lives were all in danger as we were all in the car. Because the turbo hose was not replaced there was insufficient air flow to the engine. It acts as a conduit for air, connecting components like the air intake to the turbocharger, the turbocharger to the intercooler, and the intercooler to the engine's intake manifold. The car has been inspected by 2 mechanical shops whom have both said the exact same thing and auto zone diagnostic tool.
My back window shattered for no reason. I had been driving for about 20 minutes. The ac was on my feet and not for the rear defrost. My [XXX] was in her booster seat in the back seat. We heard an explosion. I looked back to see a softball sized hole in my back window. I called Lumberton Nissan and the General Manager was very rude and was "mansplaining" how he is just a supplier and not responsible for windows exploding. There was no lawn or road work happening. There are no bullet holes in my vehicle. No rocks were found. The location I bought my vehicle from told me to make a claim with my insurance. I ended up just calling a mobile windshield vendor that my employer uses for their vehicles. I work for a Dodge dealership. While the repair is fixed, this has left my daughter scared to ride in my vehicle. I have joined a few Facebook groups who have posted their horror stories of their back windshields exploding. This needs to be fixed! Now that the window has been fixed. When you open and close my hatchback or even take a turn. You can hear glass INSIDE of the door rolling around. The vendor was not able to take apart the door to vacuum the glass up. This will become extremely annoying and make me scared that another window broke, hearing the glass rattle around in my hatchback door. What can be done to help the consumer? As the GM at Lumberton Nissan talks down to women and felt the need to explain how he is only a supplier of vehicles and does not make them, himself. Well, DUH! You are a dealership, not the factory. But the idea of a recall needs to be discussed on your end. This is not safe! My front windshield is perfectly fine and no issues. Same as the four door windows. But my back window should not be exploding on a 66 degree morning when my vehicle is only set at the lowest blowing setting of 72 degrees for more than 20 minutes, on my feet. Again, the rear defrost was no longer turned on. I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I have a bunch of pics. The contact's friend owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times. The vehicle was driven to the contact's friend's residence. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was parked and turned off. The contact stated that while the friend was attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that there were no open recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Waiting 5 + months for Manufacturer Recall NumberR25A8 to be dealt with , and informed by Bravo Nissan Texas as well as Nissan Customer Service. Both said nothing could be done and to leave it at the dealership.
Nissan Rogue 2023. I was driving and the engine start a lot of weird noise like vacuum and all of a sudden the car just lost power and unable to move until a tow truck came
Two weeks ago my 2023 Nissan broke down on the highway and with reduced power mode we were able to bring it to the closest Nissan dealer. When we got there it was closed but we left the car and asked for a Recall inspection due to the note that displayed on the dashboard matching what we had received in recall. We were informed Monday that it has nothing to do this the recall... we went back and forth with our Nissan dealer and called Nissan corporate and they refused to do the recall assessment which would be looking for metal shaving in the oil pan. They claimed this was because there was not sufficient enough evidence, even though there has been rattling, when I got an oil change he said it was very messy, our thermometer is broken and now I broke down on the highway. They still claimed there was not enough to warrant the assesment. They determined it was the IVT sensor which was a $1,432 fix. We went back and forth with Nissan corporate again to get the recall assessment done so that we could know if this was affecting why we needed a new part that shouldnt need to be replaced so early.... but we were denied again. We paid the money, but are still having issues with our car and Nissan dealer and corporate outright refused to evaluate our car for safety recall Engine issues affected by recall. The car had been garaged since Thursday evening and all day Friday. Used it Saturday morning to drive 5 miles, went into my location and when i came out 2 hours later, the rear window on the liftgate was crumbled. Nothing impacted it to cause this. Just shattered on it's own. Temperature was 62 F.
I hust bought a 2023 Nissan Roghe SV, Took it home next day Tried to start the vehicle but the dashboard display system was malfunctionig, tried to shft to reverse or drive and the vehicle wouldn't go foward or backwards.... It flashed all the icons on the dash board. In addition to this incedent the vehicle is making rattleing noices, knocking noices in the engine, it seems noices come specifically from around the timing change, the rattle is noticeable when accelerating and decelerating aorung 2000 rpms, when going up a hill the rattle is more louder.
The engine went from fine to down fast within 5-10miles. No engine light till failure Was driving 65 mph started missing a little then let go complete steam cloud behind car loss all power. cars behind me said they couldn’t see the road in front of them. was in the fast lane when engine failed Was told that the head gasket/head had failed this was the 2nd time this has happened and the car has 37,250 miles and on it 3rd engine 1st engine failed 07/16/2024 2nd engine failed. 10/11/2025
Engine bearing recall that manufacturer and local dealer don't want to take care. I received engine bearing recall notice and contacted Nissan, I was told that they don't have any remedy plan. Called local dealer , dealer said there is no available bearing , no repair. There were ABS , brake alarm on my vehicle not sure if they are related to the engine recall. Manufacturer Nissan just give 10 year warranty but no remedy plan . During the phone conversation, they also rejected to cover if my car drops on the road any cost related to the safety recall issue .
