THE STEERING WHEEL MOVE BACK AND FORTH WHILE DRIVING. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD WANDER FROM LANE TO LANE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT RACK PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THE RACK AND PINION STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY ON OUR 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SE-R WAS REPLACED BY HALL NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE INTO THE THIS DEALER FOR AN ANNUAL STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. WE INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CHECK THE STEERING SYSTEM. WE HAD EXPERIENCED PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL . THE MOVEMENT WAS UP AND DOWN IN THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSPECTED OUR CAR WE WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS THE VIRGINIA SAFETY INSPECTION UNLESS THE RACK AND PINION STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE MANUFACTURER (NISSAN) TO "GOOD WILL" HALF THE COST ($971.52) OF THE REPLACEMENT. OUR VEHICLE HAD 37,130 MILES ON THE ODOMETER ON THE DATE WE BROUGHT IT IN FOR THE ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION (11/18/2004). OUR VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH AND IS NOT MISUSED IN ANY WAY.*AK
WHEN I WENT TO GET MY OIL CHANGED THE MECHANIC WENT TO PULL THE DIPSTICK OUT AND SINCE IT IS PLASTIC AND IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE MANIFOLD IT DRIED OUT AND BROKE. NOW THE METAL PART OF THE DIPSTICK IS STUCK IN THE TUBE.
THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT OTHER MOTORIST EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS. THEY WERE BLINDING WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THEY ARE A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE CUT OFF. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, AND IT WAS A TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. AFTER BEING REPAIRED IT WAS FOUND THAT VEHICLE WAS STILL SHUTTING OFF. *AK CUSTOMER WAS CHARGED FOR REPAIR THAT WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL NOTICE. AFTER PAYING FOR THE SERVICE THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. AFTER FOUR ADDITIONAL TRIPS LIGHT FINALLY WENT OFF. ELECTRIC TAPE WAS USE TO REPAIR HARNESS NOW CAR SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING WHILE DRIVING. *EH *JB
AFTER FILING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH NISSAN AND NHTSA, ABOUT THE VEHICLE SURGING. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, WHEREBY HE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED LOWER BACK INJURIES. *AK
I WAS DRIVING ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE AT ABOUT 65 MPH IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. I SMELLED A BURNING SMELL, BUT ATTRIBUTED IT TO A FACTORY I DROVE BY. MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL, AND ALL AT ONCE MY CAR WAS POWERING DOWN, AND THE SPEDOMETER WAS DROPPING AT A RAPID SPEED, DESPITE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, THE ENGINE LIGHT, AND I CRUISED MY CAR OVER TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THANKFULLY, NO CARS WERE BEHIND ME TO REAR-END MY VEHICLE. THERE WAS A LOT OF SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON, BUT EVERYTHING POWERED OFF. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND RAN FAR AWAY FROM THE CAR, NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WOULD DO. I CALLED 911, AND PATRONS STOPPED TO ASSIST ME BEFORE THE POLICE AND FIREMEN ARRIVED. BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED, THERE WERE FLAMES BOTH UNDER THE HOOD AND UNDER THE CAR, AND LOTS OF BLACK SMOKE, WHICH WAS MAKING ITS WAY OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, HARBORING OTHER DRIVERS' VIEWS. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT AFTER MUCH FORCE, AND I WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE ITEMS OUT OF THE TRUNK AND BACK SEAT ONCE THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT. MY CAR WAS TOWED AWAY TO AN AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY.*AK
WHILE DRIVING OR AT IDLE THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. *NM RECALL NUMBER 03V455000 . ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CONSISTING IN ENGINE STALLING WHILE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AT LOW RATES OF SPEED. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TC
WHEN BRAKING BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE BRAKE LINE, BUT THE CONSUMER WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND SHIFTING ANY GEAR THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE 10 TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK THERE WERE NUMEROUS PROBLES WITH ENGINE STALLING, THE MAF HAD TO BE REPLACE NUMEROUS TIMES, THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE REVERSE LIGHT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. (THE WIRING HARNESS ALSO REPEATED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS) THE ENGINE WOULD STALL WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED AND WHEN IN NEUTRAL IDLING AND WHEN SHIFTING THE GEARS. THE FRONT SPEAKER/TWEETERS MADE CRACKING NOISES. THE COOLING FAN WOULD COME ON WHEN NOT ACTIVATED. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRES WERE REPLACED DUE TO BUBBLES LOCATED ON THE OUTER SIDE OF THE TIRES. DUNLOP, SP20FE, P185/65R12/85, DOT DB7JC11. *AK ALL FOUR TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON THE REAR TIRE ABOUT 1000 MILES APART OF THE PREVIOUS INCIDENTS. *NM
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. CONSUMER APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES, AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO PERFORMED THE ECM MATERIAL 03V477000 REPAIRS. VEHICLE STALLED 20 TIMES SINCE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY DONE ALL THEY COULD DO, BUT WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF STALLING. *AK
DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. *AK
VEHICLE SUFFERED FROM TREAD SEPARATION WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH. *MR THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND DISCOVERED THE RUBBER ON THE BACK TIRE HAD COME LOOSE AND WAS FLAPPING. *SC *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN RECALL 03V455000. HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLED. *AK VEHICLE ALSO INTERMITTENTLY JERK WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. *LA
THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES SINCE APRIL. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY DEFECTS. *JB
THE 2002 NISSAN SENTRA RAN FINE FOR THE FIRST YEAR. THERE WERE NO MAJOR ISSUES CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN 2003 I NOTICED THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOT WORK. FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS IT STILL DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THE PROBLEM IS VERY INTERMITTENT. IT MAY WORK PROPERLY ONE DAY AND NOT THE NEXT. NORMALLY YOU WILL FLIP THE TURN INDICATOR AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. THEN IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT WOULD START TO WORK. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT WORK NO MATTER IF YOU TURN THE WHEEL. EVEN WHEN IT DOES WORK THE SIGNAL DOES NOT BLINK AT A NORMAL REPETITION. ON TWO OCCASIONS I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SENSOR AND THAT PROBLEM WAS FIXED. HOWEVER, IT STILL DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TR
I AM CONTACTING YOU WITH REGARDS TO NHSTA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V4777000 FOR THE 2002 NISSAN SENTRA. THE REPAIR PROPOSED BY NISSAN IS NOT APPROPRIATE SINCE THE COMPONENTS IN QUESTION MAY ALREADY BE PARTIALLY AFFECTED AND REMOVING THE FOAM WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR THE LONG TERM. ALSO IT IS VERY BAD PRACTICE TO OPEN AN ELECTRONIC MODULE AT A DEALER SINCE A LATENT DEFECT MAY BE INTRODUCED IN THE SENSITIVE ELECTRONICS BY THE SERVICING IN AN INAPPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENT. THE ELECTRONIC MODULES CAN ONLY BE PROPERLY REMANUFACTURED AT A PROPER ELECTRONIC FACILITY AND THEN RETESTED FOR FUNCTION AND QUALITY. THE MODULES SHOULD ONLY BE REPLACED AT THE DEALER FACILITY. I AM A RETIRED DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING FOR FUEL INJECTION SYSTEMS AND I KNOW THE PROPOSED PROCEDURE BY NISSAN IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND CAN LEAD TO MANY FUTURE VEHICLE PROBLEMS WITH SERIOUS CRASH AND INJURY IMPLICATIONS. PLEASE GIVE THIS PROBLEM YOUR URGENT ATTENTION BEFORE A SERIOUS INCIDENT OCCURS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *MR THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE SENSOR. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WITH A SERIES OF STALLING. *SC THE CONSUMER FOUND INFORMATION REGARDING A RECALL, HOWEVER THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT A RECALL. *JB
VEHICLE HEATED, (STILL UNDER WARRANTY) SO I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER NISSAN WORLD OF SPRINGFIELD, NJ. MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING THERE SINCE 3/19/04 AND STILL MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS. I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION. THEY ALSO RENTED ME A CAR FOR 5 DAYS AND THEY EXTENDED FOR AN ADDITIONAL 5 DAYS. AFTER THOSE 10 DAYS WERE UP I HAD TO RETURN THE VEHICLE WITH ME NOT HAVING ANY TRANSPORTATION TO GET AROUND. MY CAR IS STILL SITTING THERE. NO ONE HAS INFORMED ME OF AN UPDATE ON THE PARTS AS TO WHEN THEY WILL BE SHIPPED. I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION AND ITS BEGINNING TO REALLY BOTHER. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *LA

DT: THE CONTACT STATES THEIR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS UNDER A RECALL BUT THEIR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER STATES IT IS NOT. THERE ARE NO OTHER CONSEQUENCES THAT THIS HAS CAUSED, THE CONTACT JUST WANTS THE DEALER TO PAY THE BILL SO THEY CAN PASS THEIR STATE INSPECTION.
WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE DEFECT, HOWEVER THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. *AK AFTER DESCENDING DOWNHILL AT 80 MPH AND UPON GOING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED DRIVER SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER STOPPED THE VEHICLE, GOT OUT, AND SMELLED PLASTIC BURNING. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. *AK *SC
WHILE STARTING UP THE VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE RESTARTED, AND THEY CONTINUED ON DRIVING. LATER, VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR THAT WAS ON RECALL. CONSUMER DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
MY TRANSMISSION IS TERRIBLE. I CAN'T GET INTO REVERSE. IT IS CLUNKY. THAT'S WHY THEY CHANGED IT FOR 2004. IT ALWAYS POPS OUT OF GEAR. IF I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, THEY'LL JUST TELL ME IT'S MY DRIVING LIKE THE OTHER 1000 PEOPLE OUT THERE I GUESS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IT NEEDS TO RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH THE 04 TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER FELT LIKE VEHICLE WENT INTO NEUTRAL. CONSUMER BARELY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS SHUTTING DOWN. AFTER INCIDENT CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE REGARDING CONTAMINATION OF ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM). *LA *JB
YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH. LUCKILY THERE WAS LITTLE TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO MANUEVER INTO A PARKING LOT AFTER CROSSING 3 LANES. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE CRANKSHFT POSITION SENSOR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB I NOTICED A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2000 NISSAN SENTRA (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 01V357000). YOU WOULD THINK THIS ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED AFTER 2 MODEL YEARS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED HEAD ON WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS WERE WORN AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE OVERHEAD COMPARTMENT FLEW OPEN AND SEVERELY INJURED THE CONSUMER, WHO SUSTAINED HEAD LACERATIONS, AND WAS HOSPITALIZED. THE POLICE ARRIVED BUT NO ONE WAS CITED. *AK
TRANSMISSION IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. THE SITUATION IS WORSE ON COLD MORNINGS, EVEN AFTER LETTING THE CAR WARM UP, AS SUGGESTED BY DEALER. AT TIMES, AFTER VECHICLE IS MOVING THE GEAR SELECTOR CAN NOT BE PLACED IN NEXT GEAR, CAUSING VECHICLE TO ROLL DOWN STREET UNDER NO POWER UNTIL THE GEAR LEVER WILL ENGAGE.*AK
HAD JUST EXITED OFF HWY - WAS DRIVING AB 45 MPH - AS I SLOWED DOWN TO APPROACH A STOP LIGHT - CAR CUT OFF/SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY - CAR WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL APPROX 45 MINUTES LATER. CAR TOWED TO VICTORY NISSAN DEALER - CRANK POSITION SENSOR FAILED - WAS REPLACED. (CRANK POSITION SENSOR - RECALL FOR PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS.) EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE WAS ADJUSTED - CHARGE TO CUSTOMER $39.80. HAD PREMIUM MAINTENANCE AND STATE INSPECTION AT PENCE NISSAN OCT 29, 2003 - AT WHICH TIME NEITHER PROBLEM WAS RECOGNIZED. BROUGHT TO PENCE'S ATTENTION THAT GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT WAS OUT. WAS TOLD THAT BULB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT CUSTOMER EXPENSE. PENCE NISSAN (APPROX 5 MILES TO RESIDENCE) - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - SERVICE MANAGER HAS NOT RETURNED MY PHONE CALL (LEFT VM MESSAGE). REPAIR INVOICES NEED TO BE MORE DETAILED/COMPLETE. VICTORY NISSAN (APPROX 25 MILES) - VERY ACCOMMODATING. VICTORY NISSAN ORDERED AND WILL REPLACE BULB UNDER "GOODWILL BY NISSAN." * FOR PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS: ODI NUMBER 10052456 AND ODI NUMBER 10052460, BOTH COMPLAINTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MARKED "OEM." PURCHASE DATE SHOULD BE REVISED TO OCT 27, 2003. CURRENT MILEAGE WAS AN APPROXIMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. ALSO, THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL/ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND BRAKES FAILED. THIS FORCED THE CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, AND WAITED AN HOUR TO RESTART. *AK
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON I-270 DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WITH MY TWO YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR, WHEN MY 2002 NISSAN 5 SPEED JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE AND HAD TO VEER RIGHT TO GET MY CAR OFF ONTO THE BERM. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS, AND $310 LATER I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD A BAD WIRING HARNESS. THIS IS WHAT MADE MY CAR SHUT OFF. TO ME THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, MY SON AND I COULD HAVE LOST OUR LIVES, NOT TO MENTION THE PEOPLE I CUT IN FRONT OF TO TRY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS OF THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE, THE CAR LITERALLY JUST SHUT OFF. *LA
GAS PEDAL STICKS WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING. AS PER INVOICE AND CHARGE TO CUSTOMER: BG3 BG FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE SPECIAL 1 CP $49.52; 1 9182-6X FUEL IND SVC $46.43. SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISED CUSTOMER TO DISCONTINUE USE OF REGULAR GAS (87 OCTANE) AND TO START USING PREMIUM GAS.PROBLEM OCCURRED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. INCIDENT DATE INDICATED IS ACTUALLY DATE OF SERVICE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT OEM MEANS. IT IS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY THE "COMPONENT." *AK
I LEASED A SENTRA SE-R IN NOV 2002. SINCE GETTING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT START. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR WANTS TO TURN OVER, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO IT. THE CAR STARTS FINE SOME DAYS, AND THEN SOMETIMES IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO START. I'VE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AT LEAST TWICE - THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IN JUNE, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, THE DEALER HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR WOULD HAVE TROUBLE STARTING WHEN IT RAINS OUT - AND THAT MUST BE THE PROBLEM. (ARE THEY INSANE - I ASKED MYSELF - THE CAR WON'T START WHEN IT RAINS? THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO PUMP THE GAS PEDAL EVERY TIME I START THE CAR - A FUEL INJECTED CAR?) SO, THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. BUT TWICE SINCE THE CAR HAS NOT WANTED TO START. THE CAR HAS, SINCE THE DAY I LEASED IT, RANDOMLY STALLED RIGHT AFTER STARTING. WHY? NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW. THEN, THIS WEEKEND WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY, AT ABOUT 70 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED OR ACCELERATE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, AND BY THAT POINT THE ENGINE DIED. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS OVER 20 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED BUT THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT REMAINED ON. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY TO TRAVEL HOME FROM WHERE I WAS, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, STARTING MAKING HORRIBLE BANGING NOISES AND IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING. THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND HAD NO POWER. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT BEFORE HAVING TO CALL FOR A TOW. THERE WAS A RECALL RECENTLY ON THE SENTRA - RELATING TO THE ENGINE AND POSSIBLE FIRES - AND THE PARTS REPLACEMENT WAS PERFORMED - SO I AM LEFT WONDERING WHAT KIND OF JUNK I HAVE BEEN STUCK WITH... IT SEEMS THAT IT IS ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS CAR. *JB
DRIVING AT 75 MPH, CAR VERY SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 45 MPH. SUBSEQUENT TO THIS, CAR OPERATED SPORADICALLY UNTIL GOING PAST 15 MPH WAS IMPOSSIBLE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHERE IT HAS REMAINED FOR A MONTH AWAITING A DEFECTIVE ECU REPLACEMENT. THE SERVICE MANAGER LATER INFORMED THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD OCCURRENCE, AND THAT NISSAN CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND OF THIS PARTICULAR PART(THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT COMPUTER). AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT, I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PULLED TO THE SHOULDER FROM THE FAST LANE. MY VEHICLE HAS 20,000 MILES. *LA
MY CAR HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON 5 TIMES SINCE APRIL 2003, EVERYTIME IT HAS BEEN THE SAME PROBLEM, IT STARTS IDLEING AT A VERY SPARATIC PACE, ALSO I LOSE THE THROTTLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN "RESET AND RECALIBRATED" 4 TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR THEN RUNS FINE FOR ABOUT 300 MILES AND WE GO THROUGH IT AGAIN. IT HAS NOW TURN INTO A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I WILL LOSE THE THROTTLE AS I AM DRIVING. -KH. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A SPEED OF 60 MPH A WHISTLING NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AT LEAST TEN DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEY ALL TOLD HIM THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL WITH THIS VEHICLE TYPE . THE CONSUMER SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER A FEW TIMES BUT CURRENTLY THEY DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND THE DEALER REPLACED ALL THE ELECTRIC CABLES. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AT 10000 MILES AND AT 20000 MILES THE ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED. *AK *NLM *JB

AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IMPACT AT 45 MPH FULL FRONTAL IMPACT CAR ELECTRONIC SYSTEM (COMPUTER) REGISTERED THAT THE BAGS HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. NO ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC CONNECTION REGISTERS ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS OPERATIONAL. NOR DRIVER OR PASSENGER BAGS WERE ACTIVATED. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE DRIVER SWERVED INTO ANOTHER LANE TO AVOID A TABLE TOP WHICH WAS DROPPED BY AN UNKNOWN VEHICLE. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND AND BECOME WEDGED BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND A GUARDRAIL. NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK *NLM
ECU FAILURE CAUSED FUEL PUMP RELAY TO CYCLE ERRRATICALLY WITH ACCOMPANYING ENGINE HESITATION. NISSAN COSIDERED THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AND REQUESTED THAT I DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. MANY ECU FAILURES SEEM TO BE OCCURING SINCE NISSAN TOLD THE DEALER THAT THEY HAD ISSUES WITH THE UNIT AND THAT THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER.

2002 NISSAN SENTRA GXE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AFTER BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS EXITING OFF HIGHWAY (60-70 MPH). THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT WOULD DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD. THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED AT 2 WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW WITH ONLY 600 MILES ON IT! THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER 3 TIMES. THE 3RD TIME RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP HAS SERVICED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. THE NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND NISSAN ARBITRATION HAS TESTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS MODEL SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS IN 2000 AND 2001. IS IT NOT OBVIOUS THAT NISSAN HAS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. *LA
