I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT APRIL 7TH AT 9:30 PM. I WAS DRIVING DOWN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH KEEPING MY WINDOWS FROM FOGGING UP AND HAD TAKEN MY EYES OUT FROM THE ROAD TO LOOK AT MY DEFROST KNOBS TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS. WHEN I LOOKED BACK UP, THERE WAS A TRUCK STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION WHICH I HIT DEAD ON AT A SPEED OF 40MPH. I BELIEVE I HAD ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND START TO APPLY MY BRAKE BEFORE COLLIDING INTO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. ALTHOUGH I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT, IT DID NOT LOCK UP , ALLOWING MY BODY TO BE THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL & DASHBOARD AND THUS FRACTURING MY LOWER BACK AND TIBIA ON LEFT LEG. IN ADDITION TO THE LACERATION ON MY LIVER AND BLEEDING ( INTERNAL BLEEDING) AROUND MY PELVIC BONE. MY SEATBELT RESTRAINT DID NOT LOCK AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY UNTIL AFTER MY CHEST HIT STEERING WHEEL. THESE 2 MALFUNCTIONS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED MUCH MORE SERIOUS INJURIES, EVEN DEATH. I HAVE A COUPLE ITEMS THAT DEMONSTRATE THE FORCE IN WHICH CHEST HIT STEERING COLUMN, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
