2017 Nissan Sentra Air Bags & Restraints Problems

The fabric drivers side seat belt is frayed. At least 1/2 of the width of the fabric is not intact. The warranty on the seat belt is 120 months and the dealer said it is not covered by the warranty. No incident has occurred yet, but I am concerned for my safety in the event of an accident. The car has 32,073 miles on it so it is obviously a defect. The belt is available for inspection. Yes the Dealer was notified and did inspect the belt. There were no warning lamps.

While reverse parking into a single parking space at my apartment complex, the driver-side airbag deployed unexpectedly without any collision or impact. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was moving at a low speed and there were no warning lights, messages, or alerts prior to the airbag deployment. The airbag deployment struck me in the face and right arm, creating an immediate risk of injury. Following the deployment, the vehicle became non-drivable. The vehicle would not accelerate and would not move forward or in reverse when the accelerator pedal was pressed, indicating a possible electronic or powertrain safety system failure. There were no prior incidents, accidents, or modifications to the vehicle before this event. The vehicle was operating normally immediately prior to the airbag deployment. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning. The vehicle and deployed airbag are available for inspection upon request. At the time of this report, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer. Inspection by insurance and/or authorized service personnel is pending. This unexpected airbag deployment and subsequent loss of vehicle control posed a serious safety risk, both due to the physical injury caused by the airbag and the sudden inability to operate the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated, indicating that the front passenger’s side air bag was deactivated; however, the front passenger’s side seat was occupied. The contact researched and became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V253000 (Air Bags); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken back to the place of residence. A dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer to confirm if the VIN was included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 103,200.

Car was involved in a pretty substantial accident and not a single airbag deployed!

My driver door opens while i'm driving, the first time it happened in feb 2023 had i not have my seatbelt on I would have fell out of car. It has happened severals more times, it feels like the lock or the pin is not engaging. Now my front passenger door is starting as well. I contacted Nissan Consumer affairs the woman was arrogant with No concern over my safety, maybe it's a defective door or lock or something and the mgr [XXX] said nissan can't help me, I asked a question if this fell under the NJ lemon law and she said no. I also complained that a dealer will not fix my stop light recall PM971 -21V-135 They put me on a waiting list 1 yr ago, I merely asked if this caused an accident what would happen? She sent me an email stating this I should have my attorney contact them. I never even mentioned an attorney and when I asked for the transcript of our conversation she said she cannot release it to me, I asked if she had one and she said yes.. Why wouldn't they release a convo I had with them, can it be used against them? My Life is Not there concern, I have had nissans for over 40 years with no issues, i have an issue now and they merely shrugged it off. I would like help regarding these matters as Nissan refuses to help with the safety of my being and to save a buck!! Passenger airbag warning light is on.

The airbag sensor shows off x 2, meaning both airbags will not deploy in case of an accident. This started around June 2022. I thought it was a fluke and would eventually turn off on its own. It’s been taken to Sutherlin Nissan here in Orlando, FL for service with the light on, and no mention was ever made of it; I assumed they didn’t think it was a big deal, so I dismissed it. I then heard about airbag recalls affecting Nissans a year older then mine, but since I’m having the same issue, I felt it should be reported. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - I was involved in a head on collision while driving approximately 30 mph and hit the side of the other vehicle straight on (not at an angle) and the air bags in my 2017 Nissan Sentra did not deploy. The car was undriveable after the accident and was towed to a tow lot. The insurance adjuster said that it was a total loss. When I went to claim my property from the car, the airbags had not yet deployed which was surprising because the fire rescue squad captain warned me to stay out of the front seat because based on the damage to the front of the car, he was shocked that they had not deployed and warned me that the could go off at any moment and cause me further injury. The car was towed to a lot and may or may not be available for inspection - it was released to my insurance company. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - My safety was put at risk because I banged my head on my steering wheel and suffered whiplash and a concussion. Had my daughter been in the vehicle, she would have been injured too. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? UNKNOWN Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? UNKNOWN Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO The system would not allow me to upload pictures even though there were less than 10 and all were under 5.0 MB

On 12-30-2021 I was at a red light. A car had hit me from behind, which ended up as lost. I ended up with facial damage that took me half of 2020l2 to heal. Three stitches to my face. When I went to retrieve my items from the car it was unrecognizable. The trunk was in the backseat. Tire damage and no airbags deployed . I was wearing a seat belt that lead to buries on my upper arms and back area.

ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2021 I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT THAT TOTALLED MY CAR OUT. RUNNING AT 45 MILES PER HOUR ON A DECLINE HILL A DEEP JUMP STRAIGHT CENTER OF MY VEHICLE CAUSING THE COLLISION. AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT IN JUNE 2017, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR REASON. I CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND IT SHOWS THAT THE ONLY RUNREPAIRED RECALL AT THIS TIME IS FOR A STOP LAMP SWITCH.

Over a year ago there was a recall on the airbags for the Nissan Sentra S 2017. I took my car in to the Nissan dealership to get that recall fixed. In April 2021 I was in a severe car accident and my airbags did not deploy.

THE CAR'S BRAKES STOPPED RESPONDING IN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR HIT ONE SIDE OF THE ROAD (IT WAS SNOWING) THEN IT CUT 3 LANES AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE OTHER SIDE AND HIT THE WALL AGAIN. THE IMPACT WAS HIGH, THE VEHICLE HAS MAJOR DAMAGE BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED.

MY AIR BAG LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. I HAVE REPLACED SENSOR BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING

part 2 of my first complaint about the 2017 Nissan Sentra. There is a bug in my car and I hired 'bug sweeper USA' to find the bug and remove it and they said there isn't a bug and to die. I am frightened and want the bug/transmitter removed, it is against the law in the united states and I want them arrested. I have to trade it up for a better car because I found out that it doesn't have front real drive. This car has terrible blind spots and rear drum breaks. I didn't notice that before it or I wouldn't have bought it. I feel unsafe also because it is terrible going up hills and accelerating. I test drove it on flat roads. I think these cars should be remove from the road and discontinued. I have never bought a car this terribly engineered. TAKATA RECALL- WHEN IN A COLLISION IN MY CAR THERE WAS NO REASON MY AIR BAGS WOULDN'T HAVE GONE OFF. I AM IN PAIN FROM THIS WRECK AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF. IF THERE IS ENOUGH DAMAGE TO TOTAL PUT A NEW CAR; IT SHOULD HAVE TRIGGERED THE AIRBAGS. *DT *DT*JB

I WAS DRIVING ON THE BYPASS TO GET FROM CHICAGO TO INDIANA WHEN I FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS BEING SHIFTED SO AS I WAS SHIFTING TOWARDS THE LEFT SIDE INTO A DITCH, I ENDED UP ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AS SOON AS A STOPPED AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED OUT ON THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDE ALONG THE WINDOWS. I LET ME CAR PPL KNOW ABOUT AND THEY TOLD ME BY MY CAR BEING LIGHT WEIGHT, I COULD BE GOING 45MPH, IF THE WIND IS STRONG THEN IT CAN POSSIBLY KNOCK ME OFF THE ROAD BUT I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT. IF I WAS GOING FAST, MY CAR PROBABLY WOULD'VE FLIPPED OVER! AND WHEN I DRIVE, THE FLOOR MATS BE SLIDING UNDER THE GAS PEDALS AND STUFF AND NOW THAT THE AIR BAGS ARE DEPLOYED, MY SEAT BELTS ARE LOCKED IN THE FRONT

SUV DRIVER HIT OUR SENTRA FROM BEHIND WHILE STATIONARY; WE WERE THE LAST CAR IN THE LINE OF THE RIGHT LANE OF TRAFFIC AND WE WERE AT A DEAD STOP. WE WERE HIT VERY HARD FROM BEHIND AND WE SLAMMED INTO THE SUV IN FRONT OF US. DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY FOR EITHER DRIVER OR PASSENGER DURING THIS COLLISION. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT STRUCTURAL DAMAGE AND THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED TOTALED. MY PARTNER WHO WAS THE PASSENGER SUFFERED A CONCUSSION DUE TO THIS COLLISION, OUR CHILD WAS THANKFULLY UNHARMED IN A SEAT WITH A 5 POINT RESTRAINT. *DSY

TAKARA RECALL, AIRBAGS LIGHT IN MIDDLE OF DASH COMES ON SAYING NO AIRBAGS AND GOES OFF CONSTANTLY. I BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAGS. WHICH I'VE NOTICED A FEW DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. WHICH WAS PURCHASED 8/23/2018.

WAS GOING DOWN A S CURVE ROADWAY AND HIT A PATCH OF WATER, HYDROPLANED OFF THE ROADWAY AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. THERE WAS HEAVY DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND NO DAMAGE TO THE SIDES, HOWEVER, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY ONLY THE SIDE AIRBAGS. SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE DRIVER WITH A BRAIN BLEED AND ABRASION FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. *TT *JS *TR *DT *TR
