ON 05/22/2015, TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT OR NEAR POSTED SPEED IN MILD SUNNY WEATHER. THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF IN LANE OF TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO HESITATION, NOISE, ALARM, WARNING LIGHTS JUST SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. PULLED VEHICLE OVER TO RH SHOULDER AND TRIED TO RESTART IT WITH OUT SUCCESS.ON 05/18/2015, I HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED AND INSPECTED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ANTICIPATION OF THIS ROAD TRIP. THE TRUCK PASSED DEALER INSPECTION. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER SEVERAL DAYS THE DEALER TOLD ME THE ECM HAD FAILED AND SHORTED OUT THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE REPAIR BILL WAS A LITTLE OVER $1400. I AM NOT OBJECTING TO THE COST OF REPAIR....I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE TRUCK JUST STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING. IF THIS BREAKDOWN WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OR DRIVING LANES OF A NEARBY FREEWAY, OR ON A STEEP INCLINE WITH TURNS THE RESULTS MAY HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE SHORT AND FAILURE OF THE ECM WERE A RESULT OF A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (SAME ONE THAT PASSED INSPECTION) AND HEAT SHORTED THE WIRING HARNESS. I FEEL THE WIRING HARNESS MAY BE TOO CLOSE TO THE HEAT OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND COULD HAVE BEEN ISOLATED AS NOT TO CAUSE FAILURE. UPDATED 8/31/15*CN UPDATED 10/23/2017*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 80 MPH I FELT AN ODD SHAKE ON MY TITAN. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WAS SMOKING. I NOTICED GEAR OIL LEAKING OUT ALL OVER THE BRAKES AND TIRE. I ENDED UP NEEDING TO REPLACE THE AXLE, SEAL,BEARING,BACKING PLATE AND ABS SENSOR. $1300.00 AND 3 DAYS LATER IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP. LEAKING GEAR OIL FROM THE SAME PLACE. WAITING TO HEAR FROM MECHANIC WHAT I NEED TO DO NEXT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A SIDE WALL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAD SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE ARMS AND NECK WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. A PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION SUGGESTS THE LOWER CONTROL LINK ASSEMBLY MAY HAVE SEPARATED CASING THE CONSUMER TO LOSE STEERING ABILITY. RECALL 10E019000 WAS REFERENCED IN THE COMPLAINT. BOTH REAR AXEL SEALS LEAKING CAUSING OIL TO SEEP ONTO BRAKES. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. *TR
REAR END AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING, AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS AND SEVERAL HOURS I FOUND I COULD BE CAUSED FROM THE AXLE VENT NOT WORKING PROPERLY, THIS CAUSES THE REAR SEALS TO BE PUSHED OUT AND FLUID TO LEAK ONTO THE BRAKES, SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM AND SAFETY CONCERN, I WAS PULLING A SMALL TRAILER AT THE TIME AND NEARLY AVOIDED A CAR THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND HAD THE DEALERSHIP IN MY TOWN TELL ME I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHING AND FAILED TO STOP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY DEALER FOR REPAIR ALSO GAVE THEM MY SERVICE CONTRACT INFORMATION THROUGH ALLSTATE CONT #; [XXX] AT [XXX]. I WAS TOLD AS WELL AS THE DEALER THAT THE WIRING HARNESS THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE WAS ALLOWED TO BE PATCHED AND NOT REPLACED AND FURTHERMORE WAS NOT A COVER ITEM EVEN THOUGH ELECTRICAL IS COVERED IN THE PLAN. I EXPLAINED TO THEM IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO PATCH AND REPAIR THE WIRES AS WELL AS TO TIME CONSUMING TO LOCATE THE 1 WIRE. THE MAN INFORMED ME THEY DO THIS PRACTICE ALL THE TIME. THE AIR BAGS LIGHT IS PLANNING. TIRE PRESSURE ALERT TPMS LIGHT IS PLANNING. *TR
MY HUSBAND WENT TO SEE HIS MOM AND ABOUT 20 MILES FROM OUR HOME APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AWAY FROM DESTINATION THE TRUCK STARTED VIBRATING AND SPUTTERING THEN THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLANKING NOISE THEN SHUT OF MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN PRIOR TO ALL THIS ENGINE STARTED CUTTING OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN WE WENT TO DO OUR SMOG CHECK IT FAILED BECAUSE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE HONEYCOMB WAS COMPLETELY GONE. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE TURNING WITH ONLY 20599 MILES ON VEHICLE. LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP REFILLED FLUID. FAILED AGAIN ONLY MONTHS LATER. A WEB SEARCH INDICATED THAT POWER STEERING HOSE FAILURE IS COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REAR TIRE FLEW OFF (PASSENGER). HAD WE BEEN EVEN A 1/4 OF A MILE FURTHER WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON MAJOR HIGHWAY AND THIS COULD HAVE KILLED US AND ANY ON COMING TRAFFIC. WHEN WE WENT TO REPAIR NISSAN DEALER WANTED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS MORE FOR PARTS/GAVE US WRONG PARTS AND WE HAD TO TRAVEL SEVERAL MILES AND MAKE SEVERAL TRIPS TO HAVE CAR REPAIRED...THROUGH NO HELP OF NISSAN SHOP.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SKID ON ICE AND CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES AND SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION. REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEALS LEAKED ON BRAKE ASSEMBLIES. GEAR OIL WAS PRESENT ON BRAKE ASSEMBLIES, WHEELS AND TIRES. I REPLACED LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE DIFFERENTIAL SEALS AND BEARINGS. AN ALLIGNMENT WAS NECESSARY AND WAS PERFORMED. *TR
REAR AXEL PASSENGER AND DRIVER LEAKING OIL, DISCOVERED DURING ROUTINE DIFFERENTIAL OIL CHANGE. *JS
I FOUND MY TRUCK HAS 3 RECALLS THAT NEED TO BE DONE. BUT MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS ALSO CRACKED I HAVE HEARD OF THIS BING A KNOWN PROBLEM AS WELL. IT HAS BEEN CRACKED AND LEAKING FOR A WHILE BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN DRIVING IT TO MUCH SEENS IT'S BEEN LEAKING.
2006 NISSAN TITAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG WARNING LAMP RECALL NOTICE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG ISSUE, WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ODOR OF EXHAUST WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH TRANSMISSION DROPS OUT OF GEAR AND TRUCK ENGINE NEARLY RED LINES. WAS UNABLE TO GET COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD. AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE TRUCK A FEW FEET TO GET COMPLETELY OUT OF TRAFFIC. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD AN INTERMIX OF COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE AND THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES BUT I AM NOT COVERED. THEY QUOTED ME $8700 TO REPAIR. SPOKE TO A FEW TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND THEY ALL INDICATED THAT THEY ENCOURAGE THEIR NISSAN CLIENTS TO BYPASS THE INTERNAL TRANNY COOLER IN THE RADIATOR WITH AN EXTERNAL ON WHEN THEY REACH 80,000 MILES. THEY SAID THE COST TO DO THIS IS LESS THAN $300.00. NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS AND EVEN LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT HAS NEVER INFORMED ANYONE. FOR A $300 FIX I AM NOW OUT A TRUCK AND OR $9000.00!!!! WAY TO GO NISSAN!! *TR
CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. *TR
I HEARD A VERY ABNORMAL CLUNK FROM REAR OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING WHICH WAS INITIALLY FOLLOWED BY VERY UNSTABLE VEHICLE DYNAMICS (VEHICLE SWAYED HEAVILY FROM SIDE TO SIDE). I INITIALLY THOUGHT I'D INADVERTENTLY HIT AN OBSTACLE OR POTHOLE IN THE ROAD BUT AT THE NEXT STOP I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS LEANING HEAVILY ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE (>2" LOWER THAN THE RIGHT). I INSPECTED THE UNDERCARRIAGE BUT COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING WRONG SO CHECKED TIRE PRESSURES (ALL FINE AT ~34-36PSI). NOT BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE, I ASSUMED IT WAS JUST THE WAY WE'D LOADED THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED DRIVING (WE WERE MORE THAN 6 HRS FROM HOME). AFTER UNLOADING THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, I REALISED SOMETHING ELSE WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG BECAUSE THE SEVERE LEAN WAS STILL PRESENT. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "NISSAN TITAN LEANING" LED ME TO CHECK FOR A BROKEN REAR SHACKLE. INSPECTING THE FLOOR OF THE BED WAS ENOUGH CONFIRMATION THAT THE LEFT HAND REAR SHACKLE HAD INDEED BROKEN (HUGE BULGE IN THE FLOOR OF THE BED WHERE THE LEAF SPRING SLAMMED UP INTO THE BODY). NO LESS THAN 26 SEPARATE REPORTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON THE WWW.TITANTALK.COM FORUM ABOUT THE ISSUE (PHOTOS AND DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE). I WAS LUCKIER THAN SOME WHERE LEAF SPRINGS BROKE THROUGH THE BED FLOOR COMPLETELY (HAVE PHOTOS TO SUPPORT THIS). THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A DEFECT AND INSTEAD QUOTED $480 FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE CONFIRMED THAT NISSAN REINFORCED THE SHACKLES IN 2008 AND SUPERCEDED THE OLDER DESIGN (DAMNING EVIDENCE IN ITSELF). FOR THE RECORD, THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE, 3 YR OLD SON AND FATHER-IN-LAW AS PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS DAUNTING TO CONSIDER HOW MANY DRIVERS AND FAMILIES ARE AT RISK AS A RESULT OF NISSAN'S FAILURE TO REPORT THIS TO THE NHTSA. GUESS IT TAKES A FEW DEATHS BEFORE THE LIABILITY EXCEEDS THE RECALL COST. *TR
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACK AND CAUSE EMISSIONS LEAKS. *TR
WAS TOLD DURING YEARLY STATE VEHICLE INSPECTION THAT IT WOULD NOT PASS DUE TO CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE. I WAS 19 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT ALMOST 23,000 MILES UNDER. THIS IS A PLEASURE USE TRUCK THAT AVERAGES ROUGHLY 7000 MILES PER YEAR AND SOMETIMES ISN'T DRIVEN FOR WEEKS. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. SOUGHT ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN AMERICA BUT WAS DECLINED WITHOUT EXPLANATION. IT'S CLEAR THAT BOTH DID NOT CRACK AFTER THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE WARRANTY. IT IS ALSO CLEAR, BASED ON ONLY A FEW MINUTES OF INTERNET RESEARCH, THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD AND WELL PUBLISHED PROBLEM. THE FACT THAT IT WON'T PASS A STATE INSPECTION SPEAKS TO THE DANGER OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY DUE TO EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN. WHY HAVE YOU NOT FORCED A RECALL? THE MANIFOLDS BEING REPLACED HAVE NO DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS TO PREVENT FUTURE FAILURES. NISSAN NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO CORRECT THEIR DESIGN ISSUES. REPLACING FAILED PARTS WITH IDENTICAL PARTS, THAT ARE SURE TO FAIL, IS NOTHING MORE THAN RETALIATION FOR BEING FORCED TO HONOR ANY SORT OF WARRANTY AND A "GOTCHA" TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID BEHIND WHEELS . CAN BE A SAFTEY ISSUE FLUID GETS ON BRAKES THEREFORE MAKING THE BRAKES UNABLE TO STOP PROPERLY . PLEASE FIX ISSUE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
REAR END LOCKED UP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. OVER THE YEARS, THE REAR SEALS WOULD CONSTANTLY LEAK AND WERE REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WAS USUALLY BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION DURING OIL CHANGES/INSPECTIONS. I GUESS THEY DIDNT CATCH IT LEAKING AND CAUSED MY REAR END TO LOCK UP WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS HEADING TO WORK AROUND 4-5 AM IN THE MORNING AND ALL MY LIGHTS ON MY TRUCK CAME ON KIND OF FELT LIKE I BLEW A TIRE AND STARTED PULLING VERY HARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD RATHER QUICKLY AND HAD IT TOWED. I KNOW PLENTY OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUES WITH THE EARLY MODEL NISSAN TITANS. BESIDES THAT THOUGH I HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH MY TITAN. I HAVE OVER 500K MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. FYI THIS HAPPENED YEARS BACK BUT I WAS READING A FORUM THAT WE SHOULD TRY TO GET THIS RECALLED AND IT DID COST ME ALOT TO HAVE THE REAR END FIXED.

CRACK ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY HOME FROM WORK AND IN A SPLIT SECOND THE BACK END OF THE TRUCK STARTED BOUNCING AND BECAME HARD TO STEER. I SLOWED DOWN AND WAS GETTING READY TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER WHEN A BIG CHUNK OF MY TIRE SEPARATED AND CAME FLYING OFF OVER MY TRUCK HITTING THE CAR BESIDE ME. I SLOWED DOWN EVEN MORE AND PULLED OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, ( ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 1 MILE) WHEN I GOT OUT I WAS SO UPSET WHEN I DISCOVERED THE DAMAGE THE SEPARATION OF THE DEFECTIVE TIRE HAD CAUSED TO MY TRUCK AND THE CAR OF A VERY IRATE DRIVER THESE TIRES DID NOT HAVE MORE THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM. THE TIRE TOTALLY WRECKED MY UNDERCARRIAGE, INCLUDING THE RODS, SUPPORTS AND LINER FOR THE WHEEL WELL, PLUS THE WHEEL WELL, REAR QUARTER PANEL AND BUMPER. THERE ARE ALSO DAMAGES TO THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE A $1000.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND NOW AM UNABLE TO AFFORD REPAIRS OR TIRES, I NEED TO BE ABLE TO WORK AND NEED COOPER TIRES TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES AND DEFECTIVE TIRES PLEASE. *JS
EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKED LEAKING ASKED NISSAN FOR HELP WAS REJECTED HAD MANIFOLDS REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS WHICH COST 1/3 THE PRICE OF NISSAN WORK DONE BY A MASTER NISSAN TECH. *JS
ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED FRONT BRAKES AND PITCHED FRONT END DOWN ABRUPTLY AT LOW SPEED WITH A LOAD NOISE. *TR
DEVELOPED A VIBRATION IN THE REAR END, THEN NOTICED LEAKING OIL AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AXLE. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW REAR END ASSEMBLY TO THE TUNE OF $5600. SAID THEY HAD A "BULLETIN" REGARDING THIS ISSUE! WHAT GIVES WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL? *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A NOISE FROM MY BACKEND AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. I GOT OUT AND CHECKED TO FIND MY LEAF SPRING BUSTED AND STICKING THROUGH MY TRUCK BED. I CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO OFFER ANY HELP BECAUSE OF IT BEING A USED VEHICLE. IT SEEMS IT WOULD BE MORE COST EFFECTIVE TO DO A RECALL NOW UNTIL WAITING UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED. WHEN I ASKED THE YOUNG LADY WHAT HAPPENS NEXT TIME WHEN THE OTHER SIDE GOES AND I GET INTO A FATAL ACCIDENT KILLING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE? HER REPLY WAS THAT WE WILL HAVE TO ADDRESS THAT WHEN IT HAPPENS. WHAT LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. *TR
I NOTICED A SOUND COMING FROM MY BACKEND. WHEN I GOT HOME I OPENED MY TAILGATE I FOUND THAT MY DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING SHACKLE HAD FAILED AND THE LEAF SPRING HAD PUNCTURED MY BED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONLY TO FIND OUT THE $2000 WARRANTY THROUGH WHEELZ I PURCHASED DID NOT COVER IT. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON THING YET NISSAN ISN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DOOR WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AND ROUNDED THE CORRECT WAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V459000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TRAVELING 20 TO 25 MPH, UP A HILL, IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD "BANG". THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT, STRIKING A TREE. NEVER WOULD YOU EXPECT A VEHICLE TO BRAKE IN SUCH A WAY AS TO THROW YOU INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I BELIEVE THAT THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED AND A RECALL ISSUED. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSFER CASE HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE FRONT AXLE HAD BACKED OUT RESULTING IN FLUID LEAKING OUT. SUNDAY EVENING MY SON WAS DRIVING ONTO AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO I-10 INTERSTATE WHEN THE TRUCK DIED. FUEL GAUGE INDICATED TRUCK HAD FUEL. WOULD NOT START, LEFT ON SIDE OF INTERSTATE UNTIL NEXT DAY. BOUGHT SOME GAS TO PUT INTO TANK WHICH STARTED THE TRUCK. HE DROVE TO FILL TANK ! FUEL GAUGE INACCURATELY DISPLAYS FUEL READING. CALLED NISSAN TO INFORMED THEM OF MY UNDERSTANDING THAT A FUEL SYSTEM RECALL. I WAS TOLD I SERVICED MY TRUCK WITH THIS RECALL WHICH I TOLD CORPORATE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH MY FUEL SYSTEM. I ALWAYS ASK FOR OLD PARTS BUT WAS NOT PROVIDED. TODAY, I TOOK MY TRUCK TO PICAYUNE NISSAN TO GET INFO ON COST, DIAGNOSTICS FOR CORPORATE FOR THEM TO MAKE DECISION TO APPROVE THIS RECALL WORK. I SPOKE WITH SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE DEALERSHIP SENDS USED PARTS TO CORPORATE BECAUSE THEY PAID FOR WORK. I ASK I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO INSPECT OLD WORN PARTS?! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER HAVING NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBERS REMEDIED ON THE VEHICLE 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM) AND 10V517000 (ENGINE). AFTER THE VEHICLE WERE REPAIRED THE POWER TRAIN WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE DEALERS PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT DISPLAYED A DEFECT TO THE FRONT BRAKE SOLENOID. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE RECALL REPAIR AND THE BRAKE SOLENOID WAS UNRELATED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE SOLENOID REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WHILE WAITING FOR MY WIFE TO COME OUT OF A STORE WITH TRUCK RUNNING I NOTICED A LIGHT FLICKERING IN THE STORE WINDOW. MY WIFE CAME OUT OF THE STORE AND GOT INTO THE TRUCK. WHILE BACKING OUT I NOTICED THE FLICKERING LIGHT IN THE WINDOW COMING WITH ME. WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK I NOTICED SMOKE COMING UP OVER MY HOOD THEN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK STARTED TO GET WARM. I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A CAN OF COKE THAT WAS ON THE GROUND. A LITTLE WHILE LATER IT FLAMED UP AGAIN AND HAD TO GET A BUCKET OF WATER FROM THE STORE CLERK. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN TITAN WITH 47000 MILES. PARTIAL VIN "1N6BA07A0" WHILE TAKING IT TO THE LOCAL MIDAS SHOP FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC POINTED OUT A LEAK ON LEFT REAR AXLE SEAL. THEY QUOTED ME WITH $350.00 TO REPLACE THE SEAL. HOWEVER THEY ALSO SUGGESTED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPT TO REPLACE UNDER A RECALL/ WARRANTY... THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED $1900.00 TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR AXLE UNDER THE GUIDANCE FROM THEIR TECHNICIANS AND IT BEING OVER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY AND/OR NO RECALL. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A RIPOFF. TODAY I FOUND THAT MY REAR AXLE OIL SEALS ARE LEAKING. IT IS SO BAD THAT THE OIL IS GETTING ON THE REAR BRAKES. WHICH MAKES SENSE CONSIDERING I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY REAR BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. 2006 NISSAN TITAN EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKED AGAIN. FIXED AT DEALER AT 62,837, REPLACED BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WITH NEW ONES. NOW AT 118023 MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED AGAIN, OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP REPAIR SOMEWHERE AROUND $2900 TO FIX BOTH. NISSAN CUSTOMER RELATIONS REFUSES TO HELP IN ANY WAY EVEN THOUGH MY TRUCK IS ONLY 4000 MILES PAST MILEAGE LIMIT.
