HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND HAVE BOTH (DRIVERS/PASSENGER SIDE) EXHAUST MANIFOLD ARE CRACKED. HAVE GONE TO NISSAN FOR THE REPAIRS .NISSAN HAS STATED THAT ITS A KNOWN ISSUE ON NISSAN TITANS FOR THE YEARS OF 2004-2007 BUT WON'T REPLACE IT. WAS QUOTED FOR THE REPAIR OF $3,000. ITS JUST OUT OF THE MILES ON THE 80K/8YEAR EMISSIONS WARRANTY, BUT STILL TIME FRAME.
FIRST OF ALL ,I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT MY TRUCK HAS HIGH MILES.I PURCHASED IT NEW, DEALER SERVICED ONLY.IN FACT MY TRUCK WAS SERVICED BY A DEALER IN MIAMI ON 3-28-13 FOR OIL CHANGE ,THE DAY BEFORE I LOST MY TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF ,WHAT I NOW KNOW TO BE COMMON PLACE, A $5 COOLING TUBING THAT GOES TO THE TRANSMISSION. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS MAYBE THE TECH AT THE DEALER BROKE THE TUBING SINCE ITS INCHES AWAY FROM THE OIL FILTER AND MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED THERE HOURS BEFORE I LOST ALL MY FLUID,THEREFORE BURNING UP MY TRANSMISSION, YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE DEALERS WOULD CHECK THE TUBING SINCE ITS RIGHT IN THE TECH'S FACE WHILE CONDUCTING OIL CHANGES. OH WELL ,MY TRUCK WAS WELL MAINTAINED,STILL LOOKS GREAT,TOTALLY LOADED LE, MY TRANNY WENT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING,THIS WILL COST ME AROUND $6000.I`M A NISSAN MAN,I JUST PURCHASED THE NEW 2013 PATHFINDER FOR MY WIFE BACK IN DECEMBER BEFORE IT EVEN APPEARED ON THE STREETS, SHOULD I HAVE FEARS ABOUT DEFECTS WITH THIS ONE ? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED DUE TO DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
FRONT PINION SEAL LEAKING POSSIBLY GET ON EXHAUST AND CAUSE A FIRE AND DESTROY ELECTRICAL WIRING. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE DESTROYED PARKING BRAKE SHOE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT ENGAGE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK IN 2WD I HEARD A VERY LOUD CLUNKING (METAL ON METAL) NOISE COMING FORM THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. AFTER REACHING HOME, I REALIZED THAT THE FRONT AXLE WAS FALLING OUT OF THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. I JACKED THE TRUCK UP AND DROPPED THE FRONT DIFF PAN. THIS IS WHERE I REALIZED THAT THE CLIPS HOLD IN THE FRONT AXLE HAVE FAILED AND BROKE IN TWO. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN, HAD I BEEN TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE WHEEL CAME OFF. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THIS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
GOING HOME FROM WORK, WHILE DRIVING EVERY TIME I PUT THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL ON I NOTICED THE LIGHT AT THE DASHBOARD FLASHES SO WEIRD AND THEN DISAPPEAR. I MADE FIVE RIGHT TURNS THAT NIGHT ALL ACTING THE SAME THING. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE GARAGE AND HAD IT CHECKED THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE WIRING INSIDE THE LAMP ASSEMBLY WAS MELTED, THE WIRE WAS TIED WITH PLASTIC STRING WRAP SO TIGHT THAT MADE THE INSULATION OF THE WIRE MELTS AND CREATED A SHORT CIRCUIT. THE WHOLE INSIDE OF THE COMBINATION LAMP ASSEMBLY REAR, RH OF MY TRUCK WAS MELTED. THEY CUT THE PLASTIC STRING WRAP AND THEN PUT SOME ELECTRICAL TAPE ON THE WIRES, THEY HAVE A HARD TIME OF PUTTING THE LAMP ASSEMBLY BACK INTO THE TRUCK AND UNTIL NOW I DID NOT REPLACE THE RH REAR COMBINATION LAMP ASSEMBLY. *TR
SITTING OVERNIGHT WITH TEMPERATURE IN THE 40'S, WHEN PUTTING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INTO DRIVE,IT WOULD KEEP DROPPING OUT OF GEAR. THE TRUCK DROVE FINE WHEN MANUALLY SHIFTING THROUGH THE GEARS. PROBLEM CONTINUED FOR MOST OF A YEAR BUT DID NOT GENERATE AN ERROR CODE. FINALLY DEVELOPED AN ERROR CODE INDICATING PROBLEM IN FIRST GEAR OF THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WITH TCM. THIS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF VALVE BODY INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH HAD BEEN CONTAMINATED BY AN UNDETECTABLE RADIATOR TO TRANS COOLER LEAK ALSO REQUIRING THE RADIATOR TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM, FOR WHICH NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING, OTHER THAN PUTTING A SPECIAL COATING ON BOLTS INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION TO DETECT THE PRESENCE OF COOLANT. THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT COULD BE EASILY PREVENT BY THE INSTALLATION OF A SEPARATE TRANSMISSION COOLER. *TR
HEARD NOISE IN TRANSFER CASE, TOOK IN TO MECHANIC TO HAVE PROBLEM CHECKED. FOUND OUT ANTI-FREEZE AND TRASMISSION FLUID WERE MIXED TOGETHER. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. AFTER REPAIR NEEDED ADDITIONAL REPAIR TO REPAIR TRANSMISSION LINE THAT HAD CAME OFF.
REAR AXLE IS LEAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A DIRT ROAD MY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING ME TO SWERVE INTO A DITCH. I CONTACTED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY SUGGESTED I TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I TOOK IT THERE AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO COVER IT SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED AND THEY ASKED WHAT OTHER ACTIONS I WAS GOING TO PURSUE AND I SAID I WAS GOING TO CONTACT A LAWYER AND THEY WERE VERY ADAMANT ABOUT ME NOT CONTACTING A LAWYER WHICH I CONSIDERED TO BE A RED FLAG. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I NOTICED I AM NOT THE ONLY NISSAN TITAN OWNER THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE OR SHOP FEES BECAUSE I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE MY FAULT AND FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY SINCE MY WIFE DRIVES THIS TRUCK AND WE HAUL OUR NIECE AND NEPHEW IN THE TRUCK WHEN WE HAVE THEM AND HAD THIS HAPPENED ON OUR FREEWAY AT 75MPH THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. *TR
MY 2006 TITAN STARTED VIBRATING LIKE RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY. TOOK STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM SPLIT AND CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACED $7313.56. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR ANYTHING. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING ON OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION AND A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM THAT CAN CAUSE THIS AMOUNT OF DAMAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT RETENTIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB HAS THE AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHING , I WAS ADVISE BY A MECHANIC THAT THERE'S A RECALL ON SAME VEHICLES JUST LIKE MINE, THE RECENT DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS CONFIRMS THAT THE WIRING FOR THE HARNESS ARE BROKEN AND IT'S REQUIRE TO BE REPLACED, THIS ISSUE APPLIES TO THE SAME DESCRIPTION ON THE RECALL CAMPAIGN # 06V459000 NISSAN CLAIMS MY VIN IT'S NOT ON THE RECALL , BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME ,IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE NISSAN,S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR . THIS IS UNSAFE FOR ME ,MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS OUT THERE. I HOPE THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY ADMINISTRATION OPEN A RECALL UNDER MY VIN RANGE. THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD . *TR
MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT. THERE IS ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH SHORTING OUT BATTERY OVERNIGHT WHEN RADIO IS CONNECTED. NISSAN REMOVED FUSE AND CAN'T LOCATE THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE. CONDENSER FAN HAS GONE OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN KING CAB. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 35 MPH WHEN A NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,400.
DURING ROUTINE SERVICE AT 19500 MILES. DURING TIRE ROTATION IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT I HAD A HAIR LINE CRACK RUNNING VERTICALLY ON ONE OF MY NISSAN TITAN OEM TIRES , BRIDGESTONE DUELER AT P245 /75R17 110S ( D693ACZ ). I HAD BEN NOTICING VIBRATION AD BRAKING SHUDDER RECENTLY ALSO . MY INVESTIGATION HAS LEAD TO OTHER ONLINE FORUM WHERE THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHARACTERISTIC OF BRIDGESTONE DUELER AT P245 /75R17 110S ( D693ACZ ). *TR
HAD TRUCK IN SHOP FOR EXHAUST PIPE FALLING OFF AND IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR AXEL SEALS AND BEARINGS ARE BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE AXEL HAD BEEN LEAKING FLUID ONTO MY TIRES AND BRAKES WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN BRAKE FAILURE OR FIRE. NISSAN WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REAR AXEL REPAIRS. THIS IS THE SECOND NEW NISSAN FACTORY AXEL TO BE INSTALLED ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. IT IS CURRENTLY HAVING THE REAR SEALS AND BEARINGS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN MODEL AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
DRIVING CROSS COUNTRY IN NISSAN TITAN. TRUCK FLOOR GOT HOT AT ONE POINT. LATER TRUCK SPUTTERED AND SHUT ITSELF DOWN. I LET IT COOL DOWN AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A WHILE. NEXT DAY ALL OF US IN THE CAR WERE A LITTLE SICK AND NAUSEATED. CAR DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE TRIP AND IT WASN'T UNTIL AFTER WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME UP. LOOKED UP THE CODES WHICH WERE THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD LOSS EFFICIENCY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEAL FOR A COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS. DEALER CONFIRMED ALL 4 CAT CONVERTERS WERE DEAD AND IT PROBABLY CAUSED BY A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS THAT NISSAN TITANS HAVE A HISTORY OF CRACKS IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS NOT ONLY RUINS THE CAT CONVERTERS BUT EXHAUST FUMES LEAK INTO THE CABIN CAUSING A HEALTH RISK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT THIS BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET. *TR
NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL IS LEAKING FLUID. COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE AXLE TO SEIZE AND/OR BRAKES TO FAIL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. LUCKILY I HAD A MECHANIC NOTICE IT BEFORE I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER DUE TO POOR QUALITY PARTS. *TR
2006 NISSAN TITAN. CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE AND RECALL ISSUES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY, SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. IT WOULD TAKE EXTREME FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER FAN MOTOR, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE RELAY, INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE ALL MALFUNCTIONED. ALSO, THE LOWER CONTROL LINKS THAT ATTACHED TO THE CHASSIS MOUNTING FAILED.
I DIDN'T HAULED ANY HEAVY LOAD IN MY NISSAN TITAN 2006 AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE BROKEN LEAF SPRING SHACKLE. AS I DRIVING I FELT THE TRUCK HAVE AN ODD MOVING MOTION ON THE ROAD. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND THE TRUCK BED SEEMS LIKE ITS LOP-SIDED WHEN YOU LOOK STRAIGHT TO THE TRUCK BED. I LOOK UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK BED AND SAW THE REAR DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING SHACKLE BROKEN APART AND PUNCTURED A LARGE SEAM TO THE TOP OF THE TRUCK BED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE PICK UP BED WAS LOPSIDED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE SHACKLE THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE LEAF SPRING WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61000. UPDATED 8/6/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING SHACKLE HAD BROKEN INTO PIECES AND THE LEAF SPRING PUSHED THE TRUCK BED UP AND CREATED A LARGE BULGE. UPDATED 08/14/12 *JB
BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING AND NEED REPLACED. I HAVE NEVER PULLED ANYTHING WITH THIS TRUCK AND AT 70,000 OR EVEN SOONER, I'M NOT SURE WHEN IT STARTED LEAKING, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACE REAR AXLE SEALS. *TR
LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED. THEY ARE NORMALLY COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY OF 8YR/80K MILES. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BY 4,000 MILES. I PUT 4K MILES EVERY 3 MONTHS AND I HAVE HEARD THE TICKING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD FOR OVER THIS TIME PERIOD. I CONTACTED NISSAN USA FOR LOYAL CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND WAS DENIED. I FILED AN APPEAL AND WAS DENIED WITHIN 2 HOURS. I HAVE OWNED (3) NISSANS IN THE PAST 7 YEARS AND EXPECT SOME COMPENSATION. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM ON ALL TITANS 2004 TO 2007. THIS SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL FOR EXHAUST GASES GETTING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. *TR
2006 NISSAN TITAN REAR AXLE SEALS BEGAN LEAKING. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN OFF THE PAVEMENT AND HAS HAD ALL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED BY THE OWNER MANUAL LIST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHENEVER HE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PINION SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE WIRING HARNESS IS BROKEN BETWEEN ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,450 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 92,850.

THE FAILURE EXISTED FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
RIGHT REAR WHEEL SEAL IS LEAKING BADLY NOTICED AT 65000 MILES BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS BEEN LEAKING FOR A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE FREQUENT AND IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE IT OIL LEAKING ONTO THE BRAKES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND HE COULD SMELL GASOLINE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. TWO YEARS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V074000 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NEED TO BE PERFORMED FOR THE SECOND TIME ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS WAS A RECALL. WHEN I CALLED THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY A WARRANTY ISSUE UP TO 80,000 MILES.BOTH WERE CRACKED WELL BEFORE THE 80,000 MILE. WHILE WAITING ON THE RECALL 80,000 HAS SINCE PASSED. BY DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THE DEFECT BUT DID NOT RECALL FIX THE ISSUES. I WOULD THING THAT AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD WOULD NEED TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. THIS COULD CASE SEVERAL ISSUES SUCH AS THE POSSIBILITY OF EXHAUST FUMES FILLING THE INTERIOR, ALSO WITH THE EXTREME HEAT COMING FROM THE CRACKS COULD EASILY IGNITE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICE A WEIRD NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH MY TRUCK WHENEVER I WOULD SLOW DOWN AND SOMETIMES SPEED UP. AS THE WEEK WENT BY I NOTICE THE NOISE GETTING LOUDER. IT STARTED OUT WITH A CLICKING SOUND THEN IT INTENSIFIED WITH A CLUCKING SOUND. AFTER HAVING A LOCAL SHOP LOOK AT MY TRUCK THEY FOUND FLUIDS BY THE RIGHT BREAK, WHICH INDICATED THAT A SEAL HAD GONE BAD AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE CLUCKING AND CLICKING NOISES ARE FROM THE GEARS IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. PIECES OF THE GEARS HAD BROKEN OFF. THEY ESTIMATED A JOB LIKE THIS WOULD RUN ABOUT $3500!!! I DO NOT HAVE THE KIND OF MONEY! I HAVE READ ALL THE TREADS POSTED BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE CONTACT NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AND GOT NOWHERE! I WAS HAVING MY VEHICLES FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FLUID CHANGED AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN NOTICED 2 CRACKS AROUND THE AXLE HOUSING. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE HOUSING WAS DAMAGED ENOUGH TO WEAR IT COULD LEAK AND CAUSE FAILURE. *TR
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING GEAR OIL. REPLACED BY CERTIFIED MECHANIC TWICE AND THE LEAK PERSISTS. *TR
LEFT REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLE FRACTURED ON A SMOOTH ROAD, CAUSING THE LEAF SPRING TO IMPACT AND DEFORM THE BED AND DEGRADING HANDLING. *TR
BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS STARTED LEAKING ALL OVER MY BRAKES AND INSIDE THE WHEEL WELL CAUSING POOR BREAKING ABILITY. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TITANS AND THAT THEY NO LONGER RECOMMEND REPLACING JUST THE SEALS BUT INSTEAD THE WHOLE AXLE. THE TECH (WHO TOLD ME HE HAD 20 YRS WITH NISSAN) SAID THAT WHEN THEY USED TO JUST REPLACE THE SEALS PEOPLE WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK 6 MONTHS LATER BECAUSE THE SEALS WOULD BLOW AGAIN. ALL OF THE POSTS ONLINE SAY THAT IT IS A RESULT OF AN IMPROPER VENTING SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE RELEASE OF NEGATIVE PRESSURE. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM, AND NISSAN KNOWS THAT IT IS, WHY DON'T THEY DO A FULL RECALL? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT CAN CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE. *TR
I NOTICED AN EXHAUST LEAK ON MY TRUCK. TOOK IT TO A REPUTABLE EXHAUST SHOP, THEY TOLD ME THEIR WAS A CRACK IN THE CONVERTER AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER CHECKING THE WEB I REALIZED IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY (80000 ON EXHAUST EMISSIONS) MY TRUCK ONLY HAD 65K. THEY REPLACED BOTH MANIFOLDS AS THEY WERE BOTH CRACKED. THIS REPAIR WOULD HAVE COST ME 2500.00! AFTER SEEING THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TITAN TRUCKS, I THINK THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. ALSO THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD A FRONT DIFFERENTIAL LEAK WHICH WAS THE PINION SEAL, THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME 300-500.00. OF COURSE ITS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY THIS. AFTER SEEING THIS IS ALSO A COMMON PROBLEM, I FEEL NISSAN NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AS IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR BOTH ME AND FELLOW MOTORIST. MY TRUCK HAS 65,000 MILES AND IS BABIED! I HAVE A 2006 SE NISSAN TITAN TRUCK, MY CONCERN IS I JUST FOUND OUT FROM MY LOCAL DEALER THAT I HAVE A EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK. THE MAIN REASON FOR MY CONCERN IS... DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE CABIN HEATER WOULDN'T GET WARM. DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT AS I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN 5 MILES. THE NEXT MORNING NOTICED A LARGE POOL OF ANTIFREEZE UNDER THE TRUCK. TOPPED THE COOLANT OFF, FIRED THE TRUCK UP AND LET IT IDLE IN THE DRIVEWAY UNTIL IT CAME UP TO NORMAL TO WARM WATER TEMPERATURE AND ANTIFREEZE BEGAN DRIPPING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR. RESEARCHED THE RADIATOR ISSUE AND FOUND SOME TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD TO REPLACE CRACKED/SPLIT RADIATORS MORE THAN ONCE. TO AVOID MULTIPLE RADIATOR REPLACEMENTS I WILL BE PURCHASING A HIGH PERFORMANCE ALUMINUM RADIATOR AT A SIGNIFICANT COST DIFFERENCE. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE PLASTIC RADIATORS MAY CUT DOWN THE VEHICLES WEIGHT, MAKING IT EASIER TO ATTAIN FEDERAL MPG STANDARDS BUT THE ALL METAL ONES JUST LAST LONGER AND ARE EASILY REPAIRED. HOW MANY TITAN RADIATORS HAVE DRAINED THEIR ANTIFREEZE INTO THE STREET AND THEN THE STORM DRAIN? MAYBE THE EPA SHOULD BE INFORMED SINCE; "ANTIFREEZE IS TOXIC TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS. WASTE ANTIFREEZE CONTAINS HEAVY METALS SUCH AS LEAD, CADMIUM, AND CHROMIUM IN HIGH ENOUGH LEVELS TO POTENTIALLY MAKE IT A REGULATED HAZARDOUS WASTE, SO MOST STATES STRICTLY REGULATE ANTIFREEZE DISPOSAL. ANTIFREEZE GENERATORS AND STATE AND LOCAL PROGRAMS SHOULD NOT DUMP SPENT ANTIFREEZE ON LAND OR DISCHARGE IT INTO A SANITARY SEWER, STORM DRAIN, DITCH, DRY WELL, OR SEPTIC SYSTEM; DUMPING ANTIFREEZE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS WATER QUALITY PROBLEMS AND MIGHT HARM PEOPLE, PETS, OR WILDLIFE". *TR *KB
ON A RECALL FOR A FAULTY ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE). THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN, HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. NISSAN COVERED THIS ECM. DURING THE REPAIR THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THE REAR AXLE SEALS WERE LEAKING AND RECOMMENDED THAT THEY BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS ESTIMATED AT $750.00. WHILE WEB SURFING FOR THE REPAIR PROCESS FOR THE SEALS I RAN ACROSS MANY COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN INCLUDING MODELS FROM 2004 TO PRESENT (2012). BASED ON THE FEEDBACK FROM OTHER TITAN OWNERS, THIS IS A COMMON FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE AND A COSTLY ONE AT THAT. ALSO THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER WITNESSED REAR AXLE SEALS FAILING IN A VEHICLE. MOST SEEM TO LAST THE LIFE TIME OF THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE'S RESPONSIBLITY DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PARTS CREATING AN UNSAFE AND USELESS MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. *TT
MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN HAS AN AXEL SEAL FAILURE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR, DIFFERENTIAL FLUID IS LEAKING ONTO THE REAR BRAKES CAUSING REDUCED BRAKING AND ALSO THE POTENTIAL FOR AXLE/DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. NISSAN REFUSES TO ADDRESS THIS DESIGN FLAW. THEY HAVE A RE-ENGINEERED REPLACEMENT AXLE SHAFT AND SEAL AT A COST OF ABOUT $800 PER SIDE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL NOT $1600 OUT OF MY POCKET TO FIX. JUST REPLACED THE REAR SEALS FOR A NISSAN TITAN 2006. PROBLEM BEGAN AT 65,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THAT LACK OF FLUID DUE TO LEAKING COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOCK-UP WHILE DRIVING. THE INTERNET IS FILLED WITH COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM. ALSO HAD TAILPIPE ISSUES (DROPPING FROM THE TRUCK) WHICH IS ALSO WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND, AGAIN, A SAFETY PROBLEM. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL, DRIVER SIDE, AND SOON AFTER, THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WELL, FAILED. DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKED OUT ONTO INNER WHEEL SURFACE, BRAKE PARTS, AND IMMEDIATE AREA CREATING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEM FOR NISSAN TITAN OWNERS AND NISSAN IS, AND HAS BEEN, WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NOT OFFERED A DESIGN SOLUTION TO MY KNOWLEDGE. NEARLY EVERY TITAN EXPERIENCES THIS SEAL FAILURE AT SOME POINT. SOME WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, (WHICH TYPICALLY GET REPAIRED BY NISSAN) BUT AS FOR THE REST OF US WHO ARE BEYOND OUR WARRANTIES, WE ARE LEFT WITH THIS HAZARDOUS CONDITION AND A BIG REPAIR BILL. **THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, OR AT LEAST REPAIRED BY NISSAN AT THEIR EXPENSE. I JUST WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP LAST THURSDAY THE 27TH OF SEPTEMBER TO HAVE A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE PERFORMED. AS PART OF THE INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT MY REAR AXLE SEALS ON MY TRUCK WERE SEEPING/LEAKING AGAIN. THE DEALER HAD REPLACED THE REAR AXLES AND SEALS UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT 46520 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE TRUCK NOW HAS A LITTLE OVER 54K MILES AND THEY ARE GOING OUT AGAIN. SO ESSENTIALLY 14 MONTHS AFTER THE DEALER REPLACED EVERYTHING IT IS OUT AGAIN. I AM GOING TO CONTACT NISSAN DIRECTLY AGAIN TO GET THIS REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BY LESS THAN A MONTH. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN FOR BOTH MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD AS THESE SEALS CAN LEAK OIL ONTO THE BRAKES AND COULD CAUSE A REAR END FAILURE AT DRIVING SPEED WHICH COULD ENDANGER LIVES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. IN ADDITION, FUEL LEAKED INTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ABNORMALLY, CAUSING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER INSPECTED AND REPAIRED THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE, THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE MANUFACTURER ASSISTED WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS OF THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
TRAVELING IN HEAVY MORNING TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE SIMPLY QUIT IN THE MIDST OF HUNDREDS OF VEHICLES. IT WOULD NOT FULLY RESTART BUT WOULD ONLY ROUGH IDLE A TIME OR TWO. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE IPDM/ECM HAD FAILED. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED AND AS SOON AS I BEGAN LEAVE THE REPAIR FACILITY THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ONE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD FAILED...DUE TO RAW FUEL BEING DUMPED INTO IT AS RESULT OF THE FAILURE OF THE IPDM/ECM. A FEW DAYS LATER, AS I WAS RESEARCHING CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ONLINE, I CAME ACROSS A NISSAN RECALL - NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 10V517000 AND REALIZED THAT THIS WAS THE EXACT SITUATION BUT THAT I HAD NOT RECEIVED NOTICE OF SAID RECALL. I CONTACTED NISSAN REGARDING THIS SITUATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEY ADVISED THAT I'D HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERS FOR INSPECTION BEFORE THEY'D CONSIDER REIMBURSING. I DID SO AND THEY DID REIMBURSE FOR THE IPDM/ECM REPAIRS. HOWEVER, WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE...WHICH WAS AN IMMEDIATE RESULT OF THE IPDM/ECM FAILURE, THE DEALER (AND NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS) INDICATED THAT I'D HAVE TO GET AN ESTIMATE & "RESTART" THE PROCESS. WHILE DOING SO, I LEARNED OF NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF THIS VERY SAME THING HAPPENING WHEN IPDM/ECM FAILS & DUMPS RAW FUEL INTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SO, I OBTAINED THE ESTIMATE FROM A NISSAN DEALER AND RECONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND BEGAN THE PROCESS AGAIN. IN THE MEANTIME, I DID LEARN THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A DAMAGED CONVERTER AS IT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL...THEREBY CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE ROAD...FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS. NISSAN HAS NOW REFUSED TO PAY TO REPAIR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH WAS DAMAGED BY THE FAILURE OF THEIR RECALLED PART...AND I AM WONDERING IF YOUR OFFICE CAN HELP ME IN THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION. *TR

THEY REPLACED WITH IDENTICAL DEFECTIVE PIECES THAT I AM POSITIVE WILL CRACK LIKE THE ORIGINAL ONES..PLEASE CHECK ONLINE TITAN FORUMS AND YOU WILL SEE IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALMOST EVERY TITAN..MY LOCAL DEALER SAYS THEY "AUTOMATICALLY CHECK EVERY TITAN" FOR THIS ISSUE..I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL CAMPAIGN BECAUSE IT IS SO COMMON AND NOT FROM DRIVER ERROR/ABUSE, AND ONCE ANY TITAN IS OUT OF THE 8 YEAR/80000 MILE COVERAGE IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR TOTALING OVER 2,000 DOLLARS! MOST TITAN OWNERS REPORT A TICKING SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD ESPECIALLY UNDER COLD START UP-I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS ON MINE SO I HAD NO IDEA MINE WERE CRACKED THAT'S WHY I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO INSPECT AS MANY TITANS AS POSSIBLE FOR THIS EMISSIONS ISSUE. *TR

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE PRECEDING HIS. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
