TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, HE COULD SMELL GASOLINE AS THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMALLY LOUD CLICKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 135,000.
REAR AXLE SEALS HAVE NOW FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME. NISSAN DEALERS TELLS ME NISSAN WILL NOT PERMIT THEM TO REPLACE SEALS ALONE. NISSAN CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FIX IS TO REPLACE ENTIRE AXLE ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $800 EACH AXLE. NISSAN IS OBVIOUSLY AWARE OF A DESIGN PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT TAKE THE LEAD TO FIX, BUT PUT THE COST OF A DEFECTIVE DESIGN ON THE BACK OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. NISSAN SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THERE IS A FLAW IN THE MATERIALS USED IN THE DIFFERENTIAL AND DIFFERENTIAL IS NOT VENTING PROPERLY THUS CAUSING THE SEALS TO PREMATURELY FAIL. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED SINCE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON NISSAN TITAN TRUCKS THAT NISSAN WILL NOT FACE. SOUNDS LIKE NISSAN IS HAVING A TOYOTA MOMENT AND BURYING THEIR HEAD IN THE SAND. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CRACKED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND CAUSED DIFFERENTIAL FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
AT 38,000 MILES THE DRIVE SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL ON MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN STARTED LEAKING SPREADING GREASE ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL. THIS WAS NOT IN ANY WAY DUE TO NEGLECT OF THE VEHICLE, OFF ROAD 4-WHEEL DRIVE DRIVING OR VIA AUTO ACCIDENT AS I DRIVE EXCLUSIVELY ON PAVED ROADS AND THE TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL THIS COULD EASILY HAVE COVERED MY BRAKES WITH GREASE AND OIL AND CAUSED LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES WHICH OF COURSE COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. *TR
CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT & NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO PASS A SMOG! $2400 TO FIX AND THE MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT OF THE HONEYCOMB INSIDE WHEN THERE SHOULD BE!! RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED!! *TR
NOTICED LOUD BANGING IN REAR OF TRUCK. FOUND THE EXHAUST TAILPIPE BROKE OFF NEAR THE MUFFLER AND WAS HANGING BY A MOUNTING POST. UPON INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL OF THE TAILPIPE FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF TRUCK, IT LOOKED LIKE A JUNCTION OF THE TAIL PIPE TO THE MUFFLER PIPE HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. *TR
WITHIN A PERIOD OF 14-15 MONTHS BOTH REAR AXLE SEAL ASSEMBLIES FAILED, ONE EACH ON PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE OF THE REAR AXLE. ACCORDING TO NATIONAL TIRE & BATTERY THE ENTIRE AXLE ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE A SEAL THAT IS LEAKING, AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1000.00 EACH TIME. THIS SEEMS QUITE UNREASONABLE AND EXCESSIVE TO REPLACE AN AXLE THAT IS IN PERFECT OPERATING CONDITION WHEN THE ONLY ISSUE IS WITH A RUBBER BOOT (SEAL) THAT IS LEAKING FLUID. *TR
2006 NISSAN TITAN SE REAR LEFT SEAL LEAKING FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THE SAME ISSUE ON THE LEFT REAR SEAL IS LEAKING AGAIN AND ALSO THE RIGHT REAR SEAL IS STARTING TO LEAK. BASED ON ALL MY RESEARCH I HAVE DONE THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CONTINUED TO BE COVERED AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS. MY TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALER AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 88,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT HAD BEEN CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE FUEL FILTER OR BATTERY. AS A PRECAUTION THE CONTACT REPLACED BOTH PARTS. THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SEAL FAILURE COST OF REPAIR $386.44. 2ND AXLE SEAL FAILURE TO RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE OCURRED 08/26/14 COST OF REPAIR $402.92 3RD AXLE SEAL FAILURE TO RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE OCURRED 02/16/15 REPAIR NOT COMPLETED YET. *TR
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILS AND CAUSES DIFFERENTIAL OIL TO LEAK OUT CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING.
THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER BEARING HAS FAILED CAUSING SEVERE BACKLASH IN THE DRIVES SHAFT AND A FAILURE OF THE PINION. ALSO THE FRONT LEFT SEAL HAS FAILED CAUSING A LEAK TO PROGRESSIVELY GET BIGGER ALLOWING MORE AND MORE LUBRICANT TO ESCAPE.
THE REAR ALE BEARINGS IN MY 2006 4X4 NISSAN TITAN HAVE FAILED. NO PARTS MANUFACTURER EXCEPT NISSAN IS OFFERING THE PARTS AND ONLY AS A WHOLE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. *TT
BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE CRACKED REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. THEIR FAILURE EMITTED RAW ENGINE EXHAUST INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT POTENTIALLY ENDANGERING THE LIFE/HEALTH OF THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS DUE TO CARBON DIOXIDE EXPOSURE THROUGH CABIN AIR INLETS WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN. AT THE VERY LEAST, AIR POLLUTION IN VIOLATION OF THE EPA OCCURRED MULTIPLIED BY THE VAST NUMBER OF DOCUMENTED NISSAN EXHAUST MANIFOLD FAILURES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING OIL AND FAULTY AXLE BEARING AT 50K MILES. VERY COMMON FAILURE IN EARLY MILEAGE LIFE OF VEHICLE, MANY OWNER COMPLAINTS. REPLACE SEAL AN BEARING AT COST OVER $700. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE FAILURE IS MOST COMMON AND IS NOT THE DOMINANT DRIVE WHEEL. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE AXLE SHOWING SIGNS OF LEAKAGE. VEHICLE DOES NOT TOW ANYTHING AND DOES NOT CARRY HEAVY LOADS. DEALER ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE IT ANY FURTHER OR CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE.
POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT:SEAL 2006 NISSAN TITAN *KB
TAIL PIPE RUSTED AT FLANGE NEXT TO MUFFLER AND NOTICED LIQUID LEAKING FROM AROUND THE CENTER OF MY RIGHT REAR WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO NISSAN, THEY CONFIRMED REAR SEAL LEAKAGE. SCHEDULED TO BE FIXED TOMORROW.
I BOUGHT THIS TITAN AT TRI-STATE NISSAN IN WINCHESTER, VA. MY BRAKE ROTOR WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED DUE TO BAD METAL USED - I HAD TO REPLACE THEM AT 30,000 MILES. MY LEFT REAR WHEEL SEAL WAS DEFECTIVE AND STARTED STARTED LEAKING FLUID AT 70,000. HAD TO REPLACE EVEN THOUGH I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY. CATALYTIC MANIFOLDS WENT BAD AND THEY KNEW IT WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY - BUT THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THEM. PAINT PROBLEM WHEN THE TRUCK IS COLD - BIG GIANT SPOTS IN THE CLEAR COAT. THE MANIFOLDS MANIFOLDS NEED TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THE EXHAUST IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING, HEARD A BANG, DID NOT NOTICE ANY DAMAGE AT FIRST. LATER ONCE THE TRUCK WAS PARKED AT HOME SEEN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING WAS PUSHED THROUGH THE BED OF THE TRUCK. (HAVE PICTURES, IF NEEDED) THE PART PUSHED THROUGH THE METAL OF THE BED AS WELL AS THE SPRAY ON BED LINER. TOOK TRUCK TO THE LOCAL GARAGE, WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE ANY FURTHER THAN JUST A COUPLE MILES. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS HAPPENED GIVEN THE YEAR OF THE TRUCK. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION HE RECOMMENDED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE BE REPLACED AS WELL, BEFORE IT BROKE ALSO, HE STATED THAT IT WAS VERY THIN METAL. THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS PURCHASED AT THE A DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE THIS PART HAS BROKEN CAUSING SIMILAR DAMAGE. REPAIRS TO THE TRUCK WILL ALSO REQUIRE REPLACING THE TRUCK BED POSSIBLE. THIS TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN OFF ROAD NOR HAS IT BEEN USED TO HAUL ITEMS, IT HAS A FIBERGLASS BED COVER ON IT.
POORLY CONSTRUCTED EXHAUST MANIFOLD(S) EQUIPPED IN 2004-2007 NISSAN TITANS CRACK UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. NEARLY ALL TITANS ON THE ROAD (UP UNTIL ABOUT 2008) ARE EFFECTED BY THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. 2008+ TITANS ARE SAID TO BE EQUIPPED WITH STRONGER MANIFOLDS, BUT THOSE CRACK AS WELL. THIS CRACK, IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF, MAY THROW ERROR CODES WHICH WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO LEAN OUT AND POSSIBLY DESTROY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. ASIDE FROM POSSIBLE ENGINE MALFUNCTION DUE TO THIS CRACK, EXHAUST GASES TO NOT PROPERLY EXHAUST OUT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND SUBSEQUENTLY EXIT THE MANIFOLDS WITHIN THE ENGINE BAY AND ENTER INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN. AS THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE ATTACHED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, THEY CAN BE REPLACED BY THE 8Y/80K MILE FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MANY DEALERS WILL NOT LOOK AT THE MANIFOLDS TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE UNTIL AFTER THIS POINT. REPLACING THE MANIFOLDS USING OEM PRODUCTS IS QUITE COSTLY. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 TO 70 MPH, HE COULD HEAR A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.
I HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN. I WAS ON VACATION WITH MY WIFE AND GRANDDAUGHTER THIS PAST WEEK WHEN I NOTICED THE BRAKING ON MY TRUCK FELT WRONG. IT TOOK MUCH FURTHER TO STOP THAN IT SHOULD. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO A REST AREA AND NOTICED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I CHECKED THE FLUIDS AND EVERYTHING LOOKED OK. I WENT TO A GARAGE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME WHERE THE REAR AXLE SEALS WERE LEAKING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID INTO THE BRAKE DRUMS ON BOTH REAR WHEELS AND SPINNING FLUID INTO THE WHEELS. THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO GET IT OVER TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH TITANS. THEY CONSIDER IT SAFE. BUT THEY TELL ME I NEED TO GET IT FIXED RIGHT AWAY. THE REAR BRAKES HAVE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEAKING INTO THEM. WHICH MEANS I MAY EVEN HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING DAMAGED! THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE REAR AXLE COULD LOCK UP CAUSING MORE DANGER AND DAMAGE. THEY ADMIT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE BUT THEY WILL NOT LET THE OWNERS KNOW IN WRITING. THAT IS PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY WOULD RATHER THE OWNER ENCURE THE HUGE EXPENSE OF REPAIRING THIS ISSUE AFTER THEIR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THEY WILL NOT CONSIDER THIS A RECALL. I WILL HAVE TO SPEND $3000 TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE. I AM FURIOUS AND DISAPOINTED THAT NISSAN WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I SEE HUNDREDS OF POST.WHY IS THIS NOT BEING ADDRESSED? IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN FIVE YEARS YET SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I AM ONLY AT 85,000 MILES. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR PATHETIC RESPONSE AND REFUSAL TO FIX THIS ISSUE AT THEIR EXPENSE.THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE NISSAN! I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN IF THEY DON'T RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE MANY NISSAN TITANS ARE EXPERIENCING PREMATURE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. SOME FAILURES ARE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE, AS PARTICLES OF THE CORE OF SUCKED UP INTO THE ENGINE. THIS HAS CAUSED FAILURES WHILE DRIVING, AND AS OF YET HAS NOT CAUSED ANY CRASHES OR FIRES. I BELIEVE IT IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THERE ARE ARE LARGE NUMBER OF FAILURES BEFORE 80,000 MILES, AND A LARGE NUMBER OF FAILURES RIGHT AFTER 80,000 MILES WHICH LEAVES IT UP TO THE CONSUMER TO PAY $1700+ TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. NISSAN IS SAYING IT'S NOT AN ISSUE, BUT INTERNET REPORTS OF THE FAILURES WOULD SAY OTHERWISE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. THANKS *TT
2006 NISSAN TITAN 4X4 CURRENTLY WITH 80,200 MILES. LEFT AND RIGHT REAR AXLE OIL LEAK. AT APPROXIMATELY 65000 MILES, DURING A TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE AT A NISSAN DEALER, MECHANIC NOTICED THE PASSENGER REAR AXLE WAS LEAKING. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATED IT WOULD BE ABOUT $500.00 TO REPAIR. HE ALSO STATED THAT NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE OIL CHANGED ON JULY 2012, I NOTICED MY DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE LEAKING NOW. SEVERAL SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE BEEN POSTED ONLINE. NISSAN SHOULD PUSH THE MANUFACTURE TO HAVE THIS HAZARDOUS ISSUE RESOLVED VERY SOON AND NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE THE SEAL AT NO COST OR AT A LOW DISCOUNTED PRICE. *TR
MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN WAS TAKEN IN FOR RECALLS. UPON COMPLETION OF THE WORK, WHICH WAS POORLY PERFORMED, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT BOTH OF MY MANIFOLDS WERE CRACKED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD COST ME OVER $2,000 BUT THE DEALER WOULD CUT ME A DEAL FOR $1,700 IF I WANTED TO DO IT RIGHT AWAY AND THEY ALSO THREATENED ME WITH THE FACT THAT I WOULD NOT PASS MY SMOG SO I HAD TO DO IT NOW. I DECLINED AS I COULD NOT AFFORD REPAIRS LIKE THAT. AFTER A SHORT SEARCH ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A REGULAR ISSUE WITH TITANS BUT WAS NOT SUBMITTED FOR A RECALL. I HAVE ALSO SENT A COMPLAINT TO NISSAN. I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS THE LACK OF SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN STRONG SUPPORTERS OF NISSAN AND OWN MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD ISSUES LIKE THIS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE RESOLVED. I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY NISSANS BUT HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE REVIEWED AND CLAIMED AS A RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS AS MY HUSBAND AND I ARE BOTH CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED WITH 4 CHILDREN AND THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE WHICH WE CAN NO LONGER DRIVE BECAUSE WE CANNOT HAVE IT SMOGGED TO RENEW REGISTRATION. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE MANIFOLDS HAD BEEN CRACKED FOR SOME TIME PRIOR TO THE VISIT TO THE DEALER. WE HAD ALWAYS TAKEN OUR TRUCK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE WE HAD PURCHASED A GOLD PACKAGE FOR MAINTENANCE AND I HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT NOISE BEFORE AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND A PROBLEM. IT FIGURES THAT AS SOON AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD MAGICALLY FIND THE ISSUE. *TR
2006 NISSAN TITAN AXLE SEAL FAILURE. THIS WILL BE THE SECOND AXLE SEAL REPLACED AND THE SECOND TIME THE PINION SEAL HAS BEEN REPLACED ON A TRUCK WITH ONLY 73000 MILES. THE COST IS PROHIBITIVE AND THE FAILURE CAUSES GREASE TO DRIP ON THE REAR BRAKES. *TR
REAR AXLE IS LEAKING OIL FROM IT. ITS GETTING THE REAR BRAKES WET, WITH THE OIL IS MAKING IT HARDER TO STOP. I FIRST NOTICED THIS THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP. MY NISSAN TITAN IS A 2006 XE. 74500 MILES. I HAVE ONLY TOWED A TRAILER WITH THE TRUCK A HAND FULL OF TIMES AND NEVER EXCEEDED 5000 LBS OF TRAILER WEIGHT WHICH INCLUDES THE WEIGHT OF THE TRAILER. THERE IS ALSO A TOW PACKAGE INSTALLED IN THE TRUCK. I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING IN TO PARTS AND PRICES OF REPAIRING THIS LEAK. IF THIS COULD CAUSE BRAKES TO FAIL HOW COME THIS ISN'T A RECALL? AND IF IT DOES BECOME A RECALL WILL THEY ALSO COVER ANY PAINT DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR FROM THE OILS ON THE TAIL GATE? *TR

ON MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN TRUCK, THE REAR PINION SEAL WAS REPLACED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND HAS FAILED AGAIN AT 72250 MILES. I AM HEARING SOME PLAY IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL, CAUSED BY LACK OF OIL FROM THE LEAKING SEAL. IT TOOK AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FLUID TO REFILL THE DIFFERENTIAL, TELLING ME IT HAD BEEN LEAKING FOR A LONG TIME, THE SECOND TIME. FAILURE OF THE DIFFERENTIAL WOULD MEAN A ROADSIDE BREAKDOWN OR A VEHICLE CRASH. MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS PROBLEM AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT. *TR

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ON MY TITAN CRACKED AND 3 SEPARATE NISSAN DEALERSHIPS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WOULDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AND REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGERS WOULD CLAIM THAT THEY DID NOT OR COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THESE PARTS ARE COVERED UNDER THE 8 YR/80,000 MILE LONG-TERM EMISSION SYSTEM DEFECTS WARRANTY AND MY TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS 69,XXX MILES. THE 3 VISITS TO THE DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS SPAN FROM WHEN I GOT THE TRUCK IN 2009 TO 2011. ON MY OWN DIME, I HAD A SHOP REPLACE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS AND THEY CONFIRMED BOTH WERE CRACKED. I HAVE THEM SITTING IN MY GARAGE FOR FURTHER PROOF. I'M CONSIDERING MAKING A CLAIM W/ NISSAN HQ BUT I KNOW IT'LL BE IN VAIN. THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS OF CRACKED MANIFOLDS ONLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,111.

I NOTICED THAT MY 2006 NISSAN TITAN WITH 54,000 MILES WAS LEAKING OIL FROM THE RIGHT REAR AXLE THE OTHER DAY. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER AND HE TOLD ME MY WARRANTY ENDED IN JANUARY AND THE REAR AXLE SEALS WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE DEALERSHIP KNEW ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAID 450 DOLLARS. THEY CALLED IT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THEY OFFERED EVEN TO SELL ME A NEW TITAN. I DECLINED. I HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED WITH A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR 300 DOLLARS. AFTER FIXING MY TITAN, I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2004-2008 NISSAN TITANS. I FOUND THAT EVEN AFTER YOU REPLACE THE REAR AXLE SEAL, THE PROBLEM OCCURS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. NISSAN SHOULD MAN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PROBLEM. I EVEN FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY NISSAN ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. SO THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MY LOCAL MECHANIC TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY THAT THE LEAKING OIL DIDN'T GET INTO THE BRAKE PADS. *TR

WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING, THE DRIVE SHAFT FELL OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE REAR AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL WERE REPLACED. TWO YEARS LATER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LEAK DIFFERENTIAL FLUID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

NISSAN TITAN (36K MILES), 2006 MODEL. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WENT BAD CAUSING THE CAR SPEEDOMETER TO QUIT WORKING AS WELL AS THE CARS TRANSMISSION TO JUMP INTO AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE ON THE ROAD. CAUSED THE CAR TO SLOW DRAMATICALLY ON THE INTERSTATE AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO NISSAN AT RIVERGATE IN TN (THINKING THIS WAS BEING CAUSED BY THE CURRENT RECALL TIED TO THE EMC, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND IT WOULD COST $1,500 TO REPAIR, WHERE THE EMC COSTS $2 TO REPAIR. MAKES ME WONDER IF NISSAN CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED THEIR CURRENT ISSUE WITH THE CARS ELECTRONIC CONTROLS, OR MAYBE THAT THEY'VE CHOSEN TO TIE THE RECALL TO A CHEAP COMPONENT AND ALLOW THE DEALER TO THEN JIG THE CONSUMER FOR THE HIGHER PRICED COMPONENT. IN EITHER CASE, I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 94,000.

I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2006 NISSAN TITAN AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT AND HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH IT UP UNTIL NOW. LONG STORY SHORT; I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH NISSAN DEALERSHIP CLOSE TO WHERE I LIVE (STANLEY NISSAN) TO GET A RECALL DONE ON IT AS WELL AS HAVE IT LOOKED AT FOR MY ABS AND SLIP LIGHTS BEING ON CONSTANTLY AS WELL AS MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WHICH WAS ON BEFORE. A FEW DAYS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT MY TRUCK STARTED DRIVING WEIRD AND DISENGAGING ITSELF OUT OF 4WD AND I WOULD LOSE CONTROL AT TIMES OR MY TRUCK WOULD STOP GOING FORWARD AND WOULD START TRYING TO GO SIDEWAYS, BUT THE RPM'S STILL WENT UP, BUT TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCEL FORWARD. IT ALSO STARTED MAKING A BANGING NOISE IN THE REAR, ALWAYS SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE. DROPPED IT OFF AT DEALERSHIP AND HEARD FROM THEM THE FOLLOWING DAY. SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT MY REAR BRAKE SHOES HAD BROKE AND SPUN AROUND IN THE BRAKE HOUSING AND DAMAGED MY BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, ROTORS AND THEN MADE IT INTO MY REAR AXLE HOUSING AND DAMAGED MY ENTIRE REAR HOUSING AND DIFFERENTIAL. I AM A MECHANIC MYSELF AND THERE IS NO WAY THAT PIECES FROM THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT INSIDE AN ENCLOSED REAR HOUSING ASSEMBLY. THEY TOLD ME I NEED MY ENTIRE REAR AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED ALONG WITH OTHER PIECES FOR THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY AND REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT ALL OF THIS WAS CAUSE BY BRAKE SHOES AND MY EMERGENCY BRAKE, WHICH I NEVER USE. THEY ARE QUOTING ME $4,200 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WON'T COVER ME UNDER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH I AM STILL UNDER 60,000 MILES AND I CAN'T BE COVERED BY MY PLATINUM PACKAGE EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WELL WHICH COVERS ME UP TO 100,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN ON NUMEROUS SITES WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY NISSAN TITAN OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THE FACT THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO WORK US ALL OVER AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP HONOR THE WARRANTY. REAR AXLE GEARS DESTROYED, REAR EBRAKE "SHOES" AND ALL ASSOCIATED PARTS DESTROYED. 3. DEALER WANTING TO REPLACE ENTIRE BRAKING ASSEMBLY, REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AT CUSTOMER EXPENSE. CUSTOMER IS BELOW THE MAN. WARRANTY DICTATED MILES/MONTHS. DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO COVER IT UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND A PLATINUM WARRANTY FROM "THE MECHANIC" AKA "THE WARRANTY GROUP". *TR

I CONTACTED NISSAN HQ TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK PRE-OWNED W/ 44,XXX MILES. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLINE AND ON THE NHTSA SITE. IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE WEAK SHACKLES FOR MODEL YEAR TITANS 2004-2007 BECAUSE THEY REDESIGNED AND STRENGTHENED THE SHACKLE IN 2008 AND UP MODELS. I HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACE THE SHACKLES W/ 2008+ TITAN SHACKLES AND PLUG/WELD THE HOLE. *TR

WAS DOING NORMAL ROAD DRIVING WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG. DID A QUICK VISUAL INSPECTION WHEN I HAD A CHANCE TO STOP BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING AS I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I LOOKED ONCE AGAIN AND NOTICED A HUMP IN THE BED OF MY TRUCK AND THE SEEMS OF THE BED HAD BEEN SEPARATED. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT THE LEAF SPRING SHACKLE HAD BUSTED AND WENT THROUGH THE BED OF THE TRUCK. *TR
BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR AXLE HAVE BEGUN LEAKING BADLY AND THERE ARE ONLY 105,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY AND IS USED FOR REGULAR USE, NOT A WORK TRUCK. THE LEAK IS SO BAD THAT THE OIL HAS SATURATED THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL WELL AND THE REAR BRAKE PADS. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE THEY TRIED TO SELL ME THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY(AXLES, SEALS, BEARINGS, ETC) CLAIMING THAT MECHANICS HAVEN'T BEEN PRESSING THE BEARINGS CORRECTLY. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH ONLINE, IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF TITAN OWNERS HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR ENDS LEAKING EVEN AT MUCH EARLIER INTERVALS. BASED ON MY CONVERSATION WITH THE DEALERSHIP IT SOUNDS LIKE NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS AND TRYING TO SELL THE FIX WHEN PEOPLE COME TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
