Engine locked up broken crankshaft
Crankshaft broke while on interstate. Lost all power from engine and to exit to side of road immediately. Truck is at dealership and was giving news of needing engine replacement at 84k miles. Service light on for boost control system but was told that vehicle was drivable.
I was driving the truck it started knocking extremely bad and shut off while driving and will not do anything now.
Was driving down the road on January 1, 2022 headed home and truck seized accelerating and once I pulled over the road. Truck shut down, wouldn’t turn on. Took it to a diesel shop and they told me the crankshaft had seized. Paid over $14k to get it rebuilt at ONLY 67k miles on my 2016 Nissan Titan XD. Almost caught on fire as I tried turning on since I did not know what the issue was at first.
Turbo problem caused me stop in the middle of the freeway with my children Nissan will be fixing this issue with out charging I seen a lot complaints about this same issue
The truck goes into limp mode without warning. The cause is a faulty wastegate actuator that is now on it’s third revision. The exhaust gets clogged dur to improper mix ratio and puts the vehicle into limp mode which will only go about 10 miles per hour. This can happen without notice and could cause death or injury while merging into or across traffic. Part replacement not available and no status when it will be available. This is a serious issue that needs addressed die to no warning before disabling full power. I’ve had several near misses due to this.
Vehicles engine suddenly and without warning began knocking while crusing down the interstate, within 30 seconds of the sudden knocking the engine was locked up on the side of the road. After reading i have found thousands of other cases just like mine where there cummins 5 liter diesels have suddenly and without warning locked up while traveling down the road. All maintenance was done on time by nissan technicians. Milage for my specific instance was 101,056. Nissan refused to warranty and dealer ended up out of pocketing most of the repair. And Nissan continues to ignore that there is a serious issue with these engines, and after doing more research i have found litterally thousands of cases just like mine, and anywhere from 1000 miles on up through 150,000 miles with some instances happening up to 5 repeated times before the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. The repair itself cost upward of $23,000, and dealerships and technicians seemly know nothing of said issue even though a quick search online shows case after case of peoples nissan titan diesels unexpected locking up while traveling down the road and in some cases causing the drivetrain to lock up as well suddenly and abruptly stopping there vehicle, potentially causing an accident. More often than not though nissan is leaving these customers like myself high and dry on the side of busy interstate while they continue to hide the fact that there product is defect and potentially unsafe. I was fortunately to have a great dealership that took care of me and got me off the side of the road, but many arent. In most cases including mine these vehicle display a crank position sensor code, and then shortly there after the crankshaft breaks in half and often times sends large pieces of metal flying out of the engine block shortly before locking up completely. Hello, I have purchased this Titan XD diesel 3 years ago from Nissan Dealership in MD, (Anwerpan Nissan). That dealership informed me before It was an issued with turbo chargers and replaced them. Over the 3 years I was maintained this truck with proper oil changes and other service. I have outfitted with camping (ovelanding equipment), so this summer in July we went to camp in Upper Peninsula, MI, when the engine just stopped working right on hwy, and it's lucky enough no accident happened and we are be able to roll on side of the road. I have towed the truck to Garber Nissan, MI, they have troubleshooted engine and said it will need a full engine replaced as bearing spun and may be broken crankshaft. I found out later from forums and Facebook it's a very common problem with these engines. It's very dangerous, if the truck was pulling a load and engine locked up, and trailer swing around. Nissan NA has refused to cover this repairs. The repairs is about $17,000 to $20,000 plus. Cummins engines for the Nissan is pretty much failed every one from 2016 to 2018 years of production. The crankshaft broke while I was in the middle of a two lane highway. I was unable to move any further and I was a huge traffic liability for everyone that passed. My children were in the vehicle and we were really worried about their safety. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer and my insurance. There were no warning lights or anything to let me know I might be having an issue.
Faulty Turbo Actuator Vehicle would stall stall without check engine light in traffic. I could Cycle the key and vehicle would run again no check engine light. It did this at least 4-5 times in traffic and on freeways. Nissan also is not providing support as actuator was on back order for over 6 months. Vehicle stall I f with no warning and cycling key to restart. I replaced it and once had it repaired and vehicle still runs poorly.
THIS IS GOING TO BE THIRD TIME MY TITAN HAS BROKEN DOWN ON ME...THIS TIME THE SEVEN.LIGHT IS FLASHING AND I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT.AND WAS ADVISE TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT SHOULD SEVEN.ITSELF...I DROVE IT FOR 100 MILES AND STILL FLASHING...
ENGINE LOSES POWER, SLOWS DOWN TO A CREEPING 5-10 MPH DURING PEAK HOUR TRAFFIC OR TURNS-OFF COMPLETELY. INSTRUMENT PANEL READS EXHAUST FILTER OVERLOAD/REDUCED SPEED. AFTERWARD, VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT TIMES OR WILL START BUT RESUMES 5-10 MPH SPEED OF TRAVEL. HAD MANUAL RESET PERFORMED; ONLY 44 MILES LATER TO HAVE SAME ENGINE TROUBLE BESET THE VEHICLE AGAIN.
ON A DAILY BASIS THE DIESEL ENGINE HAS A HESITATION FROM BOTH A STOPPED POSITION AS WELL AS LOW ENGINE RPM THAT CAUSES SAFETY CONCERNS IN TRAFFIC. REPORTED ISSUE TO NISSAN WITH NO HELP.
IMMEDIATE RECALL NEEDED ON ALL NISSAN TITANS WITH LIMP MODE FOR DEF EXPIRATION. DEADLY CONSEQUENCES POSSIBLE AND NOT AVOIDABLE. I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE TITAN IS A DEADLY VEHICLE IN SEVERAL WAYS. MOST RECENTLY I DISCOVERED THE FACT THAT DEF FLUID AGES TO THE POINT OF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A LIMP MODE OF 5MPH WITH NO DISABLING THE LIMP MODE. UNSUSPECTING DIESEL OWNERS HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE DEF THEY PURCHASED HAS EXPIRED OR THE DEF IN THEIR TANKS HAS GONE BAD. IF THE VEHICLE IS IN AN AREA THAT HAS DRASTIC CLIMATES SUCH AS SUB ZERO OR EXTREMELY HOT, DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE MAY DIE OF EXPOSURE. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR THE DEF FAILURE FOR IMPENDING FAILURE OF THE EMISSION SYSTEM AS I HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED. I BELIEVE THAT NOT MAKING NISSAN AND OTHERS TO NOT RECALL THIS DANGEROUS BUILT IN CHILD KILLER WOULD BE A TRAGIC MISTAKE BY THE SAFETY COMMISSIONS.
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND I LOST ALL POWER. I HAD TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FAST BEFORE I GOT REAR ENDED. THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I PURCHASED USED WITH 10,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE ENGINE HAS LOST COMPLETE POWER WITH NO ADVANCE NOTICE. FIRST REPAIR BY NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS BLOWN VALVE AND TURBO PROBLEMS. 8,000 MILES LATER THE TURBO IS THROWING ERROR CODE P2662. THIS TRUCK IS HEADING TOWARDS LEMON STATUS WITH THE TERRIBLE 5.0 V8 AND IT'S NO WONDER NISSAN STOPPED OFFERING THE DIESEL OPTION. OTHER PROBLEM THE REAR DOOR EXTERIOR PANEL RATTLES WHEN AT 45MPH OR HIGHER AND IS QUITE ANNOYING FOR A SUPPOSED PLATINUM MODEL. I'M BEYOND DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT SHOULD BE PULLED OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED FROM INSTANT LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. I'M IN SHOCK THAT THIS DIESEL MOTOR ISN'T UNDER INVESTIGATION. NISSAN DOESN'T HAVE ADEQUATE DIESEL TECHNICIANS TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS. NISSAN OR CUMMINS NEED TO RECALL THIS TRUCK IMMEDIATELY.

I HAVE PURCHASE SET OF TIRES IN FEB-17-2020 .I DRIVE NISSAN TITAN XD AND I FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDATIONFOR TIRE PRESSURE AND ROTATION. NOT EVEN 6 MONTH OF MY PURCHASE I HAVE SPOTTED CRACK NEAR TIRE BID ON 3 TIRES. BRAND IS COOPER DISCOVERER AT3 XLT .DOT : UT6KINJ 4819 . I DO NOT TOW MY VEHICLE . I USE FOR WORK DAILY AND NOT PUTTING ANYTHING ON MY BED BESIDE COVER ON IT. I DROVE LESS THEN 10K SINCE I PUT NEW TIRES.I THINK I HAVE RECEIVED DEFECTIVE TIRES.I NEED HELP SINCE INSTALLER AND STORE I PURCHASE RECOMMEND ME TO CONTACT MANUFACTURER.
THERE ARE DIESEL EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CAB WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE WHETHER THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON RECYCLED, FRESH, OR IF IT IS OFF COMPLETELY. THE SMELL IS OVERWHELMING AND DOES NOT GO AWAY EVEN WITH THE WINDOW BEING ROLLED DOWN. THE FUMES ALSO COME INTO THE CAB WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE FUMES DO NOT INCREASE NOR DECREASE DEPENDING ON THE SPEED YOU ARE DRIVING. THE FUMES ARE CONSTANTLY THERE, AT THE SAME SMELL.
I LEFT MY HOME ON A 1300-MILE ROUND TRIP FROM AR TO KY. ABOUT 100 MILES INTO MY TRIP WHILE PULLING AN ENCLOSED 16' TRAILER AT 70MPH ON A FLAT 4 LANE HIGHWAY THE WARNING REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING WENT OUT, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. DURING THE NEXT 550 MILES THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AND WENT OUT ABOUT EVERY 100 MILES. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO KY THAT DAY. THE LIGHT WENT OUT THE NEXT MORNING. ON 6 JULY 2020 I STARTED HOME AND BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON AFTER I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 50 MILES DRIVING AT 70 MPH PULLING THE TRAILER ON A 4 LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE REDUCED POWER WENT OUT BUT THE CHECK ENGINE STAYED ON, DURING THE NEXT 600 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON BUT THE REDUCED POWER WARNING WOULD COME ON AND GO OUT AT ABOUT 50 MILE INTERVALS. THIS CONTINUED ALL THE WAY HOME. DURING THE TRIP WHEN THE REDUCED POWER WARNING CAME ON THE TRUCK WOULD HOLD WHATEVER SPEED THE CRUISE WAS SET AT BUT IF IT TRIED TO GO UP ANY INCLINE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT REV ABOVE 3000 RPM WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO JUMP IN AND OUT OF PASSING GEAR AND YOU WERE UNABLE TO PASS OR EVEN KEEP THE SPEED UP GOING UP ANY TYPE OF A STEEP INCLINE (HILL). SINCE YOU HAD NO IDEA WHEN THE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND THE POWER WAS GOING TO BE REDUCED, I WAS AFRAID TO PASS ANYTHING OR LET ANY OTHER VEHICLE GET TOO CLOSE BEHIND. I GOT THE TRUCK INTO SHOP TWO DAYS LATER. WHEN I PICKED MY TRUCK UP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE EGR COOLER HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND WAS LOSING COOLANT INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DID A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET FOR OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR TRUCK AND FOUND LOTS OF OTHER OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND MOST WERE DUE TO THE EGR COOLER LEAKING AND CAUSING A LOSS OF COOLANT.
ONCE WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHUT OF WITH OUT NOTICE. THERE IS SOME HESITATION OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING AND HAS ALSO STOPPED RUNNING WHILE SITTING STILL. TOOK IT TO A NISSAN DEALER AND PAID TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ELECTRICAL OR FUEL COMPONENTS. NO ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
ON 05-01-2020 I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME ON I-59 NORTH AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING, ALTERNATOR AND A/C. I CONTINUE DRIVING BECAUSE I STILL HAVE MECHANICAL STEERING CONTROL I GET HOME AND I NOTED THE SERPENTINE BELT AND THE BELT TENSIOMETER WAS BROKEN, I ORDERED AND CHANGED AFTER REPAIRED I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON 05-07-2020 AND I NOTICE THE CAR IS NOT WORKING GOOD, I CHECK AND 1 OF THE BOLTS FROM THE STEERING PUMP ADAPTER WAS BROKEN, I TAKE TO THE DEALER AND AFTER A WEEK AND BE TALKING WITH NISSAN CASE NUMBER 40163453, WITH THE CAR INSIDE OF THE WARRANTY THEY SAY THE BOLT IS A HARDWARE AND IS NOT COVER BY THE WARRANTY, ALSO THE DEALER SAY IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REMOVE THE RADIATOR, I CHOOSE TO DO THE REPAIR BY MYSELF, I'M AN AIRCRAFT INSPECTOR WITH 39 YEARS' EXPERIENCE REPAIRING AIRPLANES. I FIX IN THE BEST WAY I KNOW, BUT THIS SITUATION CAN CAUSE A ACCIDENT SEE ATTACH PICTURES, ALSO THE ADAPTER PUMP HOLES ARE LITTLE BIG OF THE DIAMETER OF THE BOLTS WITH THE VIBRATION OF THE ENGINE (DIESEL) CAN CAUSE THIS BOLTS TO BE LOOSE. *TR
YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND LOSS OF POWER, TRUCK WILL JERK BACK AND FORTH LIKE THERES NO FUEL THEN WILL SHOOT OFF.THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WITH NO LIGHT ON.IVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO BE TOLD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR DEF LOW AND BRAKING TOO MANY TIMES. TRUCK MANY TIMES WONT GO PAST 3 RPMS.MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING I CANT ACCELERATE AND NO LIGHTS ARE SHOWING.NISSAN DEALERSHIPS I BELIEVE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS TRUCK AND IS CLEARING CODES WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM.IVE ASKED TO SEE THE CODE LIST AND WAS REFUSED.RECALL ON ECM SAME ISSUES WERE HAPPENING AND THE RECALL WAS FIXED TO UPDATE ECM BUT THE DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY FRIED MY ECM AND HAD MY TRUCK FOR 45 DAYS TRYING TO GET IT STARTED. SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE WHICH I BELIEVE SOMETHING ELSE AGAIN IS WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK.MANY TITAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, DEALERSHIP STATE THEY CANT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE WHICH IF THEY TRIED THEY WOULD SUCCEED BUT TRYING AND HAVING A VEHICLE ONLY GET 5 MILES ON WHILE AT DEALERSHIP IS HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS.DEALERSHIP DOESNT FULLY LISTEN.TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A HARD KNOCK INTO GEAR SINCE DAY ONE AND WAS TOLD THAT'S NORMAL FOR MY TRANSMISSION.I SEE THE SAME PROBLEMS BEING SAID BY ALOT OF OWNERS AND NOTHINGS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. While driving at highway speeds the vehicle began shaking violently. As I started to pull over, I lost all power, had difficulty steering and the brakes were barely effective. As I came to a stop, the engine locked up completely. The Nissan dealer confirmed that the engine was locked up due to either a main bearing seizure or completely broken crankshaft.
FACTORY HEADLIGHTS HAVE A BALLAST THAT CONTROLS LOW BEAMS AND DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT IS RETAINING WATER AND CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO EITHER STAY ON OR NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE HAD A NISSAN DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS WE USE THE TRUCK AT NIGHT AND DAY AND ONLY HAVE HIGH BEAMS. IT ALL STARTED AFTER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND WASHED IT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF AND THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM STAYED ON FOR 17 HOURS. REPLACED THE BALLAST WITH A USED ONE AND IT WORKED BUT ANY TIME IT RAINED OR WASHED THE TRUCK IT WOULD STOP WORKING AND NOW IT IS COMPLETELY OUT AND TODAY 5/26/20 HAD TO REPLACE BOTH BATTERY'S DUE TO THE HEADLIGHTS BE GROUNDED OUT AND DRAWING POWER. REPLACED BOTH BATTERY'S AND TOOK THE TRUCK DOWN THE STREET TO THE CORNER STORE AND CAME BACK HOME AND THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AND FILLED WITH CONDENSATION FROM THE BALLAST HOLDING WATER AND HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY'S TO STOP IT FROM PULLING POWER. I HAVE A SCREEN SHOT FROM THE DEALER SAYING THE TRUCK HAS A 5 YEAR/100K MILE BASIC WARRANTY BUT NISSAN IS TELLING ME IT ONLY HAS A 3 YEAR/36K MIKE WARRANTY AND WILL NOT COVER IT AS THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY'S ARE $1200 EACH PLUS INSTALLATION. I HAVE ALREADY GOT A TICKET FOR THE LF HEADLIGHT BEING OUT AND A TICKET FOR DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAMS ON. CONSTANTLY HAVE A ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASH AND ONLY HAVE FOG LIGHTS OR HIGH BEAMS. *TR
1 YEAR APART, 30,000 MILES APART. I HAD TO GET THE PDF REPLACED, CATALYIC REPLACED, SCR SENSORS...THE CHECK ENGINE KEEPS COMING BACK ON...I WOULD DRIVE ABOUT 30 MILES ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMES ON AND I WOULD START LOSING POWER..TO WHERE IT WOULD SHUT DOWN ITSELF
THE VEHICLE IS LOOSING POWER WHEN MAKING A SHARP RIGHT TURN. IT'S LIKE THE ENGINE IS CUTTING OFF FROM IT POWER SOURCE AND YOU FEEL THE ENGINE IS STALL READY TO CUT OFF. THEN, REGAIN POWER FEW SECONDS LATER. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT WHEN DRIVING AT VERY HIGH SPEED. IT HAPPENED ON LOCAL ROAD BETWEEN 30 TO 50 MPH
AT 70K MILES THE BOLTS HOLDING THE POWER STEERING PUMP BRACKET TO THE BLOCK EITHER SHEARED OFF OR FELL OUT ON DECEMBER 15, 2019. THIS LEAD TO PUMP FALLING OFF AND RIPPING BELT APART. BELT IS CURRENTLY WEDGED IN AC COMPRESSOR PULLEY. SAME ISSUE ADDRESSED ONE YEAR EARLIER, WHERE ONE BOLT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED TRUCK LUGS OUT, LONG HESITATION FROM PRESSING ACCELERATOR TO ACTUALLY KICKING IN , THEN IT TAKES OFF LIKE A ROCKET. HAD IT IN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE . ASKED THEM IF TOOK IT ON THE FREEWAY OR HARD ACCELERATION FROM A STOP? SAID NO ROADS WERE WET AND DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THAT. AS MY COMMUTER VEHICLE THAT IS HOW IT IS DRIVEN. AS SOON AS I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP TO GET ON A VERY BUSY ROAD . EITHER WAY FOR EVER OR ACCELERATE HARD TO GET OUT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC. IT LUGGED OUT THEN AND GETTING ON THE FREEWAY TO GET HOME
THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT INTERSECTION. SOMETIMES BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLET STOP AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS AT MID CROSSING POINT OF INTERSECTION.
THIS TRUCK IS A DIESEL. EVERY TIME IT GOES INTO REGEN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WILL FILL WITH EXHAUST SMOKE AND FUMES. IT'S SO BAD IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL SICK, AND GET A HEADACHE. AND I AM AWARE OF MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE VEHICLE RE-PURCHASED BY NISSAN FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I REALLY LIKE MY TRUCK, IT HAS HAD SOME ISSUES THAT HAVE FOR THE MOST PART BEEN RESOLVED, BUT THIS IS A HEALTH AND DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. DURING NORMAL DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY AND THE ENGINE GOES INTO LIMP MODE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THERE IS NO ACCELERATION AND YOU TYPICALLY CANNOT GET ABOVE 15 MPH. TODAY WAS THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS A NEW TURBO ON ORDER BUT IS NOT CONFIDENT THIS WILL CURE THE ISSUE. THE PREVIOUS EPISODE NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BY A DISTRACTED DRIVER WHEN I COULDN'T ACCELERATE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION LEFT TURN WITH PLENTY OF SPACE AND TIME. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS NO RESPONSE TO THE ENGINE AND THERE IS NO PRIOR WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT ILLUMINATE. TODAY THE ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN ACCELERATION FROM A DEAD STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE TRUCK NEVER ACHIEVED MORE THAN 10 MPH AND WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE DIED. LUCKILY I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND IT WAS DOWNHILL SO I COULD COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION TO THE SHOULDER. I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT TO MY HOME.

I MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND LOST MOST ALL ENGINE POWER. I PULLED OVER ONTO SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND LOOKED UNDER HOOD AND UNDER TRUCK FOR SIGNS OF WHY. I SAW A WATERFALL OF FLUID GUSHING OFF OF TRANSMISSION CASE. SMELLED DIESEL FUEL I TURNED OFF ENGINE AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. I HAD SEVERAL GALLONS OF FUEL THAT HAD POURED OUT OF INJECTOR THAT CAME LOOSE AND OVER ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALERS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY INCIDENT IN TWO WAYS FOR PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON HIGHWAY. TEMPERATURE WAS 90 PLUS DEGREES AND SUNNY. VERY HOT.
COMING OFF A HIGHWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A "POPPING" SOUND AND JERKING AS IF MISFIRING. CONNECTED A CODE READER TO TRUCK AND 5 ISSUES WERE FOUND. ENGINE CODES P0544, P244D, P242D & P242C WERE LISTED STATING "EXHAUST GAS TEMP SENSOR" AND "EXHAUST TEMP HIGH FOR DPF" ALONG WITH CODE P0204 "NUMBER 4 FUEL INJECTOR CIRCUIT OPEN". HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THE DIESEL MECHANIC STATED THE "GRAVED CONNECTOR F131 ON CYLINDER #4 WAS AT FAULT AND THAT THE CONNECTOR "SPREAD TERMINALS WERE CAUSING POOR CONTACT WITH INJECTOR". STATED THE ENGINE CONTROL HARNESS (WIRING HARNESS), NEEDED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD ONLY ~62500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.
VDC SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING A SYSTEM ERROR. THE RESULT IS HARD SHIFTING TO THE POINT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT IS HARD ENOUGH THAT THE OCCUPANTS GET SLUNG ETHER BACK OR FORWARD AND CAN BE HARD TO CONTROL EAT SLOW SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE SHUT OFF TO RESET THE SYSTEM. ONLY HAPPENED WHILE MOVING. 2 TIMES WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE ONCE IN A PARKING LOT AND TWICE WHILE TOWING A RV.

i HAVE A 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD PRO 4x. that had engine failure at 106k miles due to bearing and crank shaft damage. this is a non engine and was denied repair from Nissan. A engine should last longer than this. Took over 2 years for parts and $20k out of my pocket. Now the turbo has bearing issue that's been failing since day one and Nissan failed to remedy the issue. This truck was a lemon from day one. Thousand of customer have the same issue. Nissan needs to stand behind the product.

DIESEL FUMES IN CAB, NISSAN IS AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT FIX DUE TO VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY, EVEN EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER PART NEEDED TO KEEP FUMES OUT OF CABIN AREA. I HAVE REPORTED TO WEST TEXAS NISSAN AND CORPORATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED ONCE TO ME WITHOUT CORRECTING IT AND IT DID IT AGAIN WITH A MECHANIC TEST DRIVING WITH ME. IT IS CURRENTLY IN DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR THE LAST 40 PLUS DAYS WITH THEM SAYING THEY CANT DETECT WHAT IT IS. I WOULD MENTION A NEW ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THIS TRUCK WITH IN A MONTH OF NEW PURCHASE. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN YET NISSAN CONTINUES TO SAY THEY CANT PICK UP A CODE FOR IT. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I LOST ALL POWER STEERING IN MY TITAN XD. AFTER PULLING OVER AND LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD THE SERP BELT WAS SHREDDED AND ALL TANGLED UP. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE 3 BOLTS THAT HOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP BRACKET TO THE ENGINE HAD ALL BROKEN OFF. THERE WERE MULTIPLE OTHER REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ON THE TITAN XD FORUM. NISSAN DID NOT WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH I FELT THIS WAS A LARGE SAFETY HAZARD LOOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS TRUCK IS VERY HARD TO STEER WITH NO ASSIST.

OUR 2016 NISSAN TITAN XD WAS IDLING ON A LEVEL CARPORT WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. NO ONE WAS IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. I WAS UNLOADING TOOLS FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT 5-7 MINUTES, WHILE I WAS STANDING IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL VERY SLOWLY BACKWARDS. IT ROLLED OVER A SMALL CONCRETE BUMP (INTENDED TO PREVENT CARS FROM ROLLING OFF THE CARPORT), DOWN ABOUT A 6 INCH STEP DOWN, ACROSS ANOTHER 10 FEET OR SO OF CONCRETE AND INTO THE BRICK WALL AT THE BACK OF THE CARPORT. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SAFELY JUMP DOWN, OPEN THE TRUCK DOOR AND ENGAGE THE BRAKE. THE TOTAL DISTANCE THE TRUCK ROLLED WAS LESS THAN 10 YARDS. THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK WAS DAMAGED BADLY WHEN IT HIT THE BRICK WALL, BUT IT HELPED TO STOP THE TRUCK. WHEN I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO DRIVE IT BACK UP ONTO THE PARKING AREA OF THE CARPORT, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS STILL ENGAGED. I DISENGAGED IT TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES IN THE PAST WITH THE ENGINE REVVING AND EXTREMELY HARD SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. THERE IS ALSO A HEAVY SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK VERY OFTEN. THE SMELL IS STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE HEADACHES. WE USUALLY HAVE TO CRACK THE WINDOW WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT OFTEN. WITH VEHICLE STOPPED, ENGINE OFF, THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALL FOUR DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK, BUT DID NOT DO SO. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE DOOR MOUNTED CONTROLS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE DOOR LOCKS IN THE ARMREST, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE KEY FOB REMOTE CONTROL, BUT DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. THE DOOR LOCK LEVERS WOULD FLIP FROM THE LOCKED TO UNLOCKED POSITION, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I STARTED AND STOPPED THE ENGINE TO RESET THE DOOR LOCKS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I LOWERED THE SIDE WINDOW AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I REPEATED THE ABOVE ACTIONS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. A PASSERBY WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. AFTER CLIMBING OUT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE OTHER THREE DOORS FROM OUTSIDE WITH NO SUCCESS. I USED MY KEY IN THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. I REPEATED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. OVER SOME MINUTES OF TRYING ALL THE ABOVE FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE TWO REAR DOORS FINALLY OPENED. THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK AND OPEN. AFTER CLIMBING BACK INTO MY VEHICLE VIA THE PASSENGER DOOR, I STARTED TO DRIVE HOME. AFTER ABOUT 3 MILES I HEARD THE SOUND OF THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLOCK AND THE DOOR ACTUALLY CRACKED OPEN ON ITS OWN. I HAD TO PULL THE DOOR SHUT WHILE DRIVING. UPON REACHING MY HOUSE THE DRIVERS DOOR OPERATED NORMALLY. NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE.
