THIS IS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW. HAS 35K MILES ON IT. ALREADY REPLACED TRANSMISSION IN 2013. HAVE HAD NUMEROUS TIRE ISSUES THAT THE MECHANICS CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT, WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, THEY WANT TO CHARGE HIGH DOLLARS AND THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS. TODAY WHILE BACKING STRAIGHT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A HUGE BANG FOLLOWED BY THE CAR NOT MOVING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. MY NEIGHBOR CAME OUT AND INFORMED ME THAT THE BALL JOINT ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HAD SNAPPED. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO A CAR FROM 2010 AND WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND MONEY PIT.
I HAVE ORDERED A PAIR OF TIRES FROM DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT AND AFTER I PUT THEM ON THE CAR, I THOUGHT THEY ARE OK, SO I ORDERED ANOTHER PAIR. FEW MONTHS LATER ONE OF THE TIRES DEVELOPED UN-ROUND SHAPE AND IT WAS TORN FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE CONTACTED DISCOUNT TIRE DIRECT, AND THEY FORCED ME TO PAY ANOTHER $14, AND I RETURNED THE BAD ONE AND THEY SENT ME ANOTHER ONE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. THIS WEEK I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. ONE OF THE TIRES DEVELOPED THAT UN-ROUND SHAPE AGAIN. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED ON OUR FAMILY CAR WHERE MY LITTLE KIDS ARE INSIDE THE CAR. THATS UNACCEPTABLE; IF ANY OF THESE DEFORMATIONS WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE TIRE TO EXPLODE, THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED UNACCEPTABLE HARM TO MY FAMILY. THIS PRODUCT THREATENS THE WELL BEING OF MY FAMILY. AT THIS TIME I NO LONGER ACCEPT THIS PRODUCT AT ALL AND I DEMAND A FULL REFUND FOR ALL THE MONEY I HAVE PAID SO FAR. I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS, PHOTOS FOR THE FIRST TIRE, PHOTOS FOR THE SECOND TIRE, AND ALL 4 TIRES. NOTE: THE TIRES WRITEN ON THEM MILESTAR MS932 88H NSS-01-12F0
TAKATA RECALL, MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE RECALL LIST BUT IT SHOULD BE. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WHERE I WAS SITTING DID NOT DEPLOY. I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, CERVICAL STRAIN AND OTHER INJURIES FROM THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING. POLICE REPORT NUMBER IS: A16-00409, INGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF- DELHI TOWNSHIP WAS AT THE SCENE.
AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM THE AIRPORT, WE NOTICED SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. LESS THAN TWO DAYS LATER, I CAN BARELY DRIVE MY CAR WITHOUT RADIATING PAIN FROM EVERY LITTLE ROAD BUMP. TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND SHELLED OUT OVER A GRAND TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT SPRING/STRUTS. NOW, LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER, MY CAR IS MAKING A HORRIFIC RATTLING SOUND THAT SHAKES THE ENTIRE CAR AND I BELIEVE SOMETHING IS WRONG (OR EVEN MISSING) FROM MY EXHAUST PIPE CONNECTION. AFTER THIS, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE DARN SPRINGS WERE RECALLED IN OCTOBER OF 2015. MINE BROKE IN MARCH WITH LESS THAN 60000 MILES
MY FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE ON ME. I INSPECTED IT AND IT CLEARLY LOOKS LIKE RUST DAMAGE FROM LACK OF RUST PROTECTANT. I SAW THERE IS A HUGE RECALL TO THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS OF NISSAN VERSAS AND THE ONLY REASON MY VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY IS BECAUSE SOMEHOW THE NHTSA DOESN'T CONSIDER NEBRASKA A 'WINTER STATE'. WE HAVE WINTER WEATHER JUST LIKE OTHER STATES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL(IOWA, MISSOURI) AND OUR STATE DOES USE PLENTY OF SALT ON OUR ROADS. IT SEEMS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS THAT MY CAR WOULDN'T QUALIFY BECAUSE I'M IN NEBRASKA AND NOT IOWA OR MISSOURI. THE FACT THAT I HAD TO SPEND ALMOST $1K TO FIX THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE WHEN THE MANUFACTUER'S DEFECT IS CLEARLY THE CAUSE. ALSO, IT FELT INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS WHEN THIS BROKE ON ME. I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. I FELT LUCKY I EVEN MADE IT HOME AND TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG OFF WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY AND THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,259.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHOCK ABSORBER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OF AIRBAGS SELF DEPLOYING AND ADVISED TO NOT USE PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE CALLED REPEATELY FOR UPDATES NONE AVAILABLE, NOW I CAN'T THROUGH 800 NUMBER. NOT USING PASSENGER SEAT CREATES A HARDSHIP MY SPOUSE IS DISABLED MAKING IT EXTREMELY CHALLENGING TO ONLY USE BACK SEAT WHEN GOING TO APPOINTMENTS OR JUST DAILY LIVING ERRANDS. I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON OR WHAT CAN I DO TO GET HELP OR A LOANER CAR. I PAID FOR MY CALL IN FULL AND NISSAN NOW IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET. PLEASE HELP! I RECEIVED THE NOTICEWELL OVER A YEAR AGO.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD IN TOWN. THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE SPRINGS, AND A RECALL IN PLACE, BUT MY STATE IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL (EVEN THOUGH OUR ROADS ARE SALTED IN NEBRASKA ALSO). THE COIL RUBBED ON THE TIRE, RUINING IT AS WELL.
I HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK MY CAR AFTER I HEARD NOISE/VIBRATION COMING FROM THE CAR WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT. IT TURNS OUT THE MUFFLER IS RUSTING FROM THE MANIFOLD BACK: INCLUDING CATALYTIC CONVERTER, CENTER AND REAR MUFFLER, HARDWARE AND GASKETS AND THE HEAT SHIELD NEEDS SECURED. THE CAR IS JUST OVER 50,000 MILES, NOT A LOT AND NISSAN SHOULD BE REPLACING THIS FREE OF CHARGE BUT I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THIS IS A DANGER AND THEY SHOULD BUILD THEIR PARTS BETTER TO HANDLE ROAD SALT IN THE WINTER MONTHS.
MY FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING; VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP. TONIGHT I FOUND YOUR RECALL WEBSITE AND LEARNED THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ARE LISTED FOR RECALL. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN ABOUT THE RECALL. I SUSPECT THEY ARE NOT NOTIFYING CUSTOMERS.
POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE. COMPUTER CAN'T TALK TO PART AND WILL POWERSTEERING WILL WORK ON AND OFF. THE CAR'S P.S. FAILED, THEN THE MECHANIC STARTED IT, STILL NO P.S., THEN WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED AGAIN THE POWERSTEERING WORKED FINE. CAR WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN CAR WAS PUT IN GEAR PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION, I WAS TURNING RIGHT ONTO A ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP NEAR THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD SHIFT TOWARDS THE RIGHT WHEN BREAKING. I DIDN'T INITIALLY SEE ANYTHING WRONG AND HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT. WHEN WE CALLED LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIPS, THEY WANTED TOO MUCH TO JUST SIMPLY PUT TUE CAR UP ON A LIFT TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. TOOK IT TO A SMALL LOCAL SHOP, AND HAD IT PUT ON A LIFT. THE SUBFRAME HAD A BUSHING BREAK AND SEPARATE FROM THE MAIN BODY OF THE CAR, CAUSING THE WHOLE SUBFRAME TO MOVE FREELY. AFTER HAVING HAD REMOVED THE SUBFRAME, IT SHOWED ENOUGH CORROSIVE RUST THAT IT APPEARED TO COME OFF OF A CAR THAT SAT UP IN NORTHERN STATES FOR WAY TOO LONG, BEEN DRIVEN ON SALT ROADS, OR EXPOSED TO SALT FOR APPROXIMATELY 15-20 YEARS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR, AND HAVE NEVER LEFT THE STATE OF FLORIDA IN THE FIVE YEARS I'VE OWNED IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH ONLY 8 MI ON IT AND THE PART FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 117,000MI. NISSAN REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER THIS RUST DID NOT JUST SHOW UP IN THE LAST 17,000MI PAST MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP, AND TWO OTHER SHOPS HAVE HAD TO DO OIL CHANGES, AND NOT ONCE WAS THIS ISSUE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. IT DID NOT JUST SHOW UP OVERNIGHT, AND IN NO WAY WITHIN THE LAST 17-20,000 MI.
PRIOR TO BEING APART OF THE TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL, I DID NOT REALIZE THAT CITIZENS COULD REPORT ERRONEOUS AND DANGEROUS PART FAILURES IN THEIR AUTOMOBILES PRIOR TO A DANGEROUS INCIDENT. HAVING GONE THROUGH THE TAKATA RECALL, I AM NOW A MORE AWARE CONSUMER AND WANT TO REPORT AN INCIDENT INVOLVING FAILING DOOR ASSEMBLIES ON NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK'S. THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED ON MY 2010 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK SEVERAL YEARS AFTER OWNERSHIP. IT IS UNCLEAR IF THIS HAPPENED DURING OR AFTER DRIVING, BUT IT WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER FOR THE HATCH BACK DOOR IN THE REAR TO OPEN. THE UNLOCK SIGNAL EVEN WHEN THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED IS NOT BEING SENT TO THE TAILGATE. A FAILURE TO DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE HIGH-QUALITY DOOR LATCH IS NOT A CONSUMER OR CUSTOMER ERROR. ADDITIONALLY, OTHER AUTO COMPANY'S LIKE FORD HAVE RECALLED THEIR DOOR ASSEMBLIES, BECAUSE ANY WEAKNESS IN A DOOR ASSEMBLY CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND POSES A RISK TO THE PASSENGERS OR DRIVERS. FORD STATED THAT "SHOULD A CUSTOMER BE ABLE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR WITH THESE CONDITIONS, THE DOOR MAY APPEAR CLOSED, BUT THE LATCH MAY NOT FULLY ENGAGE THE DOOR STRIKER WITH THE POTENTIAL THAT THE DOOR COULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY." THE NHTSA NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THE NISSAN ACTUATOR ISSUE. IT IS A RISK FOR PEOPLE RIDING AND DRIVING NISSANS AND ALSO A LIABILITY TO THE COMPANY.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A YARD AND DECLARED THE VEHICLE DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INSPECTOR WHO INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT FAILURE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V449000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V349000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
I FILED CASE 10786015 AND THE FILE UPLOAD DID NOT WORK. THIS IS A RETRY TO INCLUDE THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT REPORT (SEE ATTACHED). THE REAR TOE ALIGNMENT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE PER MANUFACTURER DESIGN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
RIGHT REAR TOE IS OUT OF SPEC. CURRENT READING IS .56 DEGREES AND SHOULD BE .32 TO -.05 DEGREES. ALIGNMENT SERVICE (PEPBOYS) SAYS TOE CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED ON THIS VEHICLE PER MANUFACTURE CONFIGURATION OF REAR SUSPENSION. THIS SEEMS TO ME LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE AS TIRE WILL WEAR DOWN AND ALSO NOT GRIP ROAD SURFACE CORRECTLY.
IN MAY 2015 THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SNAPPED. I HAD IT REPLACED AT A NISSAN DEALER AT A COST OF $270.26. ON OCT 22, 2015 THE LEFT SIDE FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SNAPPED. IT TOOK THE NISSAN DEALER NEARLY 2 WEEKS TO GET THE PART AND REPLACE IT, AT COST OF $401.93. THE CAR WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT THE FIRST TIME AND WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY THE 2ND TIME. THE BROKEN PART WAS FOUND ON THE GROUND AT THESE LOCATIONS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE POWER STEERING LIGHTS COMES ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY I WENT OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR COIL SPRING BROKE. APPROXIMATELY THE FIRST 1/2 TO 3/4 OF A ROTATION OF THE BOTTOM PART OF THE COIL SPRING BROKE OFF AND WAS SITTING LOOSE IN THE COIL SPRING POCKET ON THE REAR AXLE. THIS FAILURE APPEARS TO BE THE EXACT SAME AS THE PASSENGERS FRONT COIL SPRING WHEN IT FAILED BACK IN APPROX. JUNE 2015 WHICH I ALREADY REPORT (REFERENCE # 10726251). I HAVE SAVED ALL OF THE OLD SPRINGS (BROKEN AND NON BROKEN) WHEN I MADE THE REPAIRS WITH NEW PART SETS THAT I PURCHASED FROM NISSAN DEALER IN GRAND BLANC, MI.

THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
CAR IN MOTION ON NJ STATE HIGHWAY 94, SPARTA, NJ. CAR HAD 39K MILES. THE FUEL PUMP FAILED ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDERS, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY. IT WAS A SUNDAY AFTERNOON, 8/30/2015, BUT WAS ABLE TO GET TOWED THROUGH AAA. SITUATION WAS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT IS A BUSY HIGHWAY. A FUEL PUMP FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, IS DANGEROUS, AND SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS A NISSAN DEALER'S REGULAR SERVICE RECORD, IS UNDER 40K MILES, AND DRIVEN ONLY BY TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR 70'S. RECEIPT FOR REPAIRS IS AVAILABLE IF REQUESTED.
I OPENED MY DRIVERS DOOR, THE HANDLE CAME COMPLETELY OFF. THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE EITHER. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT STILL WORKS BUT NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE. THE KEY WILL NOT OPEN IT, NO OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE, POSSIBLE INTERIOR PLASTIC\ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BROKEN. VEHICLE STILL RUNS AND DRIVES FINE. POWERTRAIN IS INTACT. INTERIOR IS FALLING APART DUE TO CHEAP CONSTRUCTION. LOOKED ONLINE TO THE NISSAN FORUM BOARD AND SAW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM WITH DOOR HANDLES BREAKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. CAR IS ONLY EQUIPPED WITH ONE KEY ENTRY ON DRIVERS SIDE ONLY. KEYFOB AND SECURITY SYSTEM STARTING TO BREAK DOWN. WENT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN STEVEN POINT WI AND THEY WILL ONLY FIX IF I HAVE MONEY TO REPAIR. FORD DEALERSHIP IN WISCONSIN RAPIDS WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR SAID THAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS. REPAIR COULD COST ME OVER $700+.
LEFT FRONT SPRING BROKEN.
THE METAL HEAT SHIELD PLATE SEPARATING MUFFLER AND FUEL TANK (?) IS DETACHED FROM THE BODY OR FRAME BY CORROSION (OF THE SCREWS). IT NOT ONLY MAKE SEVERE RATTLLING NOISE WHENEVER ENGINE RUNS BUT ALSO MAY CAUSE FIRE AND EXPLOSION IF THE PLATE IS COMPLETELY LOST WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVEN ON THE ROAD. THE PLATE IS NOW BARELY HUNG ON THE MUFFLER.
AFTER ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT LOUGHEAD NISSAN WE WERE INFORMED THAT BOTH FRONT SUSPENSION SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED IT "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". THE REPLACEMENT PRICE FOR A "KIT" OF STRUTS AND SPRINGS FOR BOTH FRONT SIDES IS ESTIMATED AT $1030. DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED BY PEP BOYS MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT. FOR SAFETY REASONS WORK IS BEING COMPLETED AT DEALER TODAY. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND WE HAVE NEVER HIT A BUMP OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS SUSPENSION FAILURE.

THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE 7/23/2015 AS I WAS DRIVING HOME AT APPROX. 30MPH.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION COIL SPRING BROKE RUBBING 2 INCH GOUGE INTO TIRE.
I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN I HEAR A SNAP AND THEN PASSENGER TIRE GETS POPPED AND DEFLATES. AT AN INTERSECTION GOING 10 TO 15 MPH. IT TURNS OUT MY FRONT SPRING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE COLLAPSED AND HAS SNAPPED A PEICE OF SPRING INTO MY TIRES BLOWING IT. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THIS CAR FOR LONG, AND DRIVE QUITE SAFELY. I SINCE HAD TO PURCHASE NEW FIRES AND NOW STUCK WITH MY SPRINGS STILL COLLAPSED. SHOULD THIS INCIDENT HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY, THERE WOULD MOST LIKELY BE A CASE OF AN ACCIDENT AND RISK OF INJURY AS THE INCIDENT HAPPENED QUITE SUDDENLY, LUCKILY I WASN'T AT HIGH SPEEDS. ALSO, MY FRONT BUMPER HAS SUFFERED DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THE EXTREME HEIGHT DECLINE FROM TIRE AND SPRING INCIDENT. FIRST IMPRESSIONS TELLS ME THE SPRINGS (AND MUFFLER) USE AN ALLOY THAT SUFFERS FROM EXTREME ACCELERATED CORROSION/RUST AFTER SEEING THE MUFFLER AND SPRINGS. BUT I'D NEED TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER.
AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN ON TO A ROAD, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM MY PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL. I THOUGHT IT WAS A ROCK, AS I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG AT FIRST GLANCE WHEN I LOOKED. LATER AS I DROVE DOWN THE SAME ROAD, I SAW SOMETHING IN THE ROAD AND STOPPED TO PICK IT UP. IT WAS A PIECE OF A SUSPENSION COIL/SPRING. I FELT AROUND BACK OF THE PASSENGER SIDE SUSPENSION COIL AND FELT THAT IT HAD BROKEN OFF NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE COIL.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE 2010 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK ON A SECONDARY ROAD DOING LESS THEN 30 MPH WHEN SHE SUDDENLY HEARD A 'BANG' SOUND. SHE THEN CLAIMED SHE HEARD A SIMILAR SOUND WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. WHEN SHE ASKED ME TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN IN TWO. THAT WAS THE LAST THING I EXPECTED TO SEE. THE 'SIMILAR' SOUND SHE HEARD WAS THE SOUND OF BROKEN SECTION OF COIL SPRING RATTLING AROUND THE REMAINING SPRING/STRUT ASSEMBLY. FORTUNATELY BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE BREAK IT WAS CAPTIVE AND THERE WAS NO WAY FOR IT TO BECOME SUDDENLY SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THIS COMPONENT ON A CAR SHOULD NEVER FAIL. HAD SHE BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WE PAID $350 TO HAVE ONE SPRING REPLACED!!! I STILL HAVE THE BROKEN SPRING. THE MECHANIC SAVED IT FOR ME. I ALSO HAVE CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BROKEN SPRING THAT I AM MORE THEN WILLING TO PROVIDE TO ANY AGENCY INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER. NISSAN SHOULD OWN UP AND REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE SPRINGS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.

DURING ROUTINE FRONT BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR REPLACEMENT I WAS INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC THAT ONE OF THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WAS PHYSICALLY BROKEN. IT APPEARS TO HAVE SNAPPED AND IT WAS IN JEOPARDY OF POPPING OR PUNCTURING MY TIRE. THE MECHANIC WAS SHOCKED THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE ON THE CAR (~25,900, 5 YEARS). HE CALLED NISSAN TO ASK ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. I DO RECALL DRIVING AROUND MAY 1, 2015 ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND 65 MPH AND HEARING A LOUD CLATTERING NOISE UNDER MY CAR BUT THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT AT THE TIME. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED A 360 DEGREE GASH IN THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE SIDEWALL. I TOOK THE TIRE OFF AND NOTICED THE SUSPENSION SPRING WAS BROKEN AND WAS SCRAPING THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE.

I MOVED MY PASSENGER SEAT BACK AS FAR AS IT WOULD GO AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON FOR MONTHS. I HAVE MOVED THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH AND IT IS STILL ON. NOT SURE WHY MOVING MY SEAT TO THE FAR BACK POSITION WOULD CAUSE MY AIRBAG LIGHT TO COME ON. IT REALLY CONCERNS ME.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE A VERY LOUD BANG OCCURRED FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION I NOTED THE SPRING HAD FRACTURED. REPAIR REQUIRED A NEW SPRING AND ALIGNMENT. LUCKY THE SPRING HELD UNTIL I COULD GET TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND DIDN'T RUIN THE TIRE, BUT TOTAL COST TO REPAIR WAS OVER $250. THE LEFT SPRING HAD BEEN REPLACED EARLIER THIS YEAR DUE TO A DEER HIT, OTHERWISE I MAY HAVE HAD TO HAVE BOTH REPLACED. LOOKING FOR A RECALL ON THIS, AS IT APPEARS TO BE A PERVASIVE ISSUE. MY REPAIR SHOP JUST HAD ANOTHER NISSAN VERSA IN LAST MONTH WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY AND BEGAN RUBBING THE TIRE. CAR REPAIRS IN EXCESS OF $480 AND A TIRE REPLACEMENT. ALSO REQUIRED FOG LIGHT HOUSING DUE TO SEVERITY OF THE BREAK AND SUBSEQUENT DROP OF THE CAR ONTO THE TOP OF THE TIRE.

WHEN I GOT TO WORK, I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE, AND DISCOVERED IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE THAT 2010 NISSAN VERSA VEHICLES ARE HAVING.(COIL SPRINGS) TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC ON 5/20/15, AND THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A BROKEN COIL SPRING IN THE FRONT END. REPLACED THE BROKEN SPRING.
SPRING BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY, WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW VELOCITY. IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A SPRING CAN BREAK AS IT DID. THE VEHICLE HAS LOW MILES, AND THE MECHANIC COULDN'T BEKIEVE IT HIMSELF. MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT HE HAS REPAIRED TWO OTHER VEHICLES, SAME MAKE AND YEAR WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, AND THE SAME EXACT SIDE. MY ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS IS $1,500. IF NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT, THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIRSELVES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT CAN LEAD TO INJURY OR EVEN FATALITIES. I HAVE BEEN BUYING NISSAN VEHICLES FOR ALMOST TWENTY YEARS, BUT THIS HAS MADE ME LOSE CONFIDENCE IN THE COMPANY.
PASSENGERS FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE. APPROX. 1/2 OF FIRST COIL ON SPRING BROKE AT LOWER EDGE WHERE IT MATES TO FRONT STRUT. BROKEN COIL WAS DISCOVERED WHEN AUDIBLE SOUND COULD BE HEARD FROM FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN STARTING AND STOPPING OR TURNING LEFT WHEN COIL SPRING WOULD SHIFT ON STRUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE DRIFTED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED.
