Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)Fuel pump failed with no notice while traveling on the interstate causing the engine to stop running. I was lucky that I was able to coast off the highway on to the shoulder. This occurred at night on a section of I-10 with a 75 MPH speed limit. If I had not been able to limp off the highway it would have been very dangerous. My Nissan Versa only has 75,000 miles and is well maintained. No warning lights or OBD codes were present before or after the failure. Replacing the fuel pump assembly fixed the problem.
CAR IN MOTION ON NJ STATE HIGHWAY 94, SPARTA, NJ. CAR HAD 39K MILES. THE FUEL PUMP FAILED ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDERS, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY. IT WAS A SUNDAY AFTERNOON, 8/30/2015, BUT WAS ABLE TO GET TOWED THROUGH AAA. SITUATION WAS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT IS A BUSY HIGHWAY. A FUEL PUMP FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, IS DANGEROUS, AND SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS A NISSAN DEALER'S REGULAR SERVICE RECORD, IS UNDER 40K MILES, AND DRIVEN ONLY BY TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR 70'S. RECEIPT FOR REPAIRS IS AVAILABLE IF REQUESTED.
