OWN 2007 NISSAN XTERRA MAINTAIN CARE WITH ALL PROPER SERVICES SINCE PURCHASED NEW. SUDDENLY DRIVING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON PARK CAR AND WAIT FOR MORNING TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP,TRY TO START NEXT MORNING WONT START. HAVE CAR TOWED TO CERRITOS NISSAN AND HAVE THEM INSPECT IT,THEY CALL ME BACK A FEW HOURS LATER TELLING ME THAT MY RADIATOR HOSE HAVE LEAKED COOLANT INTO MY TRANSMISSION AND DESTROYED MY TRANNY. I ASKED WHY THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT FROM NISSAN AND EXPLAINED TO ME SINCE I WAS OVER 100K MILES THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. PRICE FOR NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR 5000 DOLLARS. RIDICULOUS FOR ME TO PAY FOR A DEFECT FROM NISSAN THAT IS GOING TO EVENTUALLY HAPPEN TO ANY OWNER OF XTERRA,PATHFINDER AND FRONTIER OWNERS FROM 05 TO 11. I DO NOT THINK US AS LOYAL NISSAN OWNERS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A DEFECT FROM NISSAN THAT IS BOUND TO HAPPEN NISSAN SHOULD HAVE ATOTAL RECALL ON ALL THOSE MODELS AFFECTED BY THE SHOTTY RADIATOR THAT THEY MANUFACTURED. I HAVE PURCHASED 4 NISSANS THROUGH THE PAST 12 YRS AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN AFTER THIS INCIDENT. I HAD TO PAY 5000 TO FIX A DEFECT FROM NISSAN. *TR
TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS OWN AT 45 ON A MILD DOWNGRADE. DID IT AGAIN LATER CHANGING FROM ONE FOUR LANE HIGHWAY TO ANOTHER, THIS TIME AROUND 45-50 MPH. TOOK THE TRUCK TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AS I TOOK OUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH OLYMPICARE. THE SERVICE ADJUSTER WAS AWARE THAT '05-'09, EVEN '10 MODELS HAVE A DEFECT THAT ALLOWS RADIATOR FLUID TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID, CREATING DEGRADATION OF TRANSMISSION AND COOLING SYSTEM. AFTER-MARKET WARRANTY IS TRYING TO DIS-ALLOW CLAIM, CITING NISSAN'S KNOWLEDGE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW. *TR

THE TRANSMISSION/COOLING SYSTEM HAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *JB
HEARING WHINING/WHIRRING NOISE FROM ENGINE UPON ANY ACCELERATION AND INCREASED RPMS. REPAIR REQUIRED IS REPLACEMENT OF SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONERS (GUIDES). *TR
VEHICLE MAINTAINED METICULOUSLY. FLUIDS CHANGED REGULARLY. DROVE MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES IN THE WINTER. AT FIRST IT BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. THEN WOULDN'T START AT ALL. NOT A CLICK, NOT A CRANK. THEN TOOK IT TO LOCAL SHOP WITH GOOD REPUTATION. HAD IT FOR 7.5 WEEKS BEFORE IT WAS 'FIXED.' DROVE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 8 WEEKS & TRANSMISSION WAS THUMPING HARD AS IT UP-SHIFTED & SEEMED NOT TO KEEP UP ON DOWN SHIFT. UPON INITIAL LIGHT ACCELERATION TRANNY/GEARS BEGAN TO SLIP MAKING A LOUD/HARSH VIBRATING/SHUTTERING SOUND & FEEL. TOOK IT HOME IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I CHECKED RADIATOR THE DREADED GREY SLUDGE POURED OUT. NISSAN HAS HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'M TOLD I NEED A RADIATOR & A NEW TRANSMISSION. TOTALING OVER $6100! NISSAN NEEDS TO FOR ONCE DO THE RIGHT THING & DO A FULL RECALL. THIS IS MY SECOND XTERRA. I HAD A 2005 AS WELL. I ALSO OWNED A 2005 MAXIMA. THAT'S BRAND LOYALTY BUT I ALSO USED TO MAKE $200,000/YR, LIVE IN MY DREAM HOME, ETC...THRU DIVORCE & ILLNESS I'M HOMELESS JUST TRYING TO SURVIVE. I HAD PLANNED TO SELL THE XTERRA & BUY AN INEXPENSIVE FUEL EFFICIENT CAR SO I COULD BANK THE BALANCE & BEGIN TRYING TO SAVE AGAIN. I HAVE NO VEHICLE NOW OR $6100 FOR REPAIRS THAT R OBVIOUSLY DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW OR FLAWS. *TR
MY 07 NISSAN XTERRA HAS BEEN OUT OF COMMISSION FOR 2 MONTHS NOW AND AFTER MANY PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS NISSAN STILL WILL NOT OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKE. THEIR FAULTY RADIATOR DESIGN HAS RUINED BOTH MY RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE CENTER WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND YET NEVER MENTIONED IT TO ME THE NUMEROUS TIMES I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICED BY THEM. IT WASN'T UNTIL I WAS 5,000 MILES OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD AN ISSUE THAT IT WAS MADE KNOWN THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. ALSO, THEY CLAIMED THAT I WAS MAILED OUT A NOTICE ABOUT THE ISSUE LAST DECEMBER OF 2012, WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED, BUT CLAIM THAT THEY DID WHAT WAS REQUIRED OF THEM BY MAILING THE NOTICE OUT. AS SOON AS THEY ARE AT THE POST OFFICE IT IS OUT OF THEIR HANDS. FOR A CAR BEING ONLY 6 YEARS OLD I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY HALF OF THE CAR'S WORTH TO FIX IT. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND IT WAS BOUGHT FOR OVER $13,000, NOW MY TRADE IN IS ONLY WORTH $5,000. I KNOW THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER WAY, BUT IT WAS OPENED LAST YEAR AND THERE IS NO RECENT UPDATES AS TO THE PROGRESS. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A RECALL THAT MAY NEVER COME. *TR
FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE. APPEARS THOUSANDS OF OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE BEEN HAVING SAME PART FAIL IN THEIR XTERRA'S. *TR
ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO MY CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL WHEN I WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. I TOOK MY CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP/SERVICE CENTER AND THE PERSON KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. APPARENTLY IT IS VERY COMMON FOR 2005-2010 NISSAN VEHICLES TO HAVE A "FAULTY ENGINE DESIGN" THE SERVICE MAN SAID. THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME IS THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID STARTS TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND RUINS BOTH PARTS. MY CAR WAS BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO FOR $14,000, THE COST TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION IS $8,000. FOR MYSELF AND I AM SURE FOR MANY, THIS IS NOT AN AFFORDABLE AMOUNT. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE AND READING THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, I AM SURPRISED THAT NO ONE HAS HELD NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE AND THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I AM NOT SURE HOW MANY COMPLAINT ARE NECESSARY FOR THIS TO MOVE FORWARD. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE A FEELING THAT PEOPLE NEED TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. I HOPE THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND FEEL LIKE NISSAN IS SELLING LEMONS TO THEIR UNSUSPECTING CONSUMERS. *TR
WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING DOWN HILL MIND I ASS WHEN MY 2007 NISSAN XTERRA BEGAN TO DOWN SHIFT MY ITS SELF. I CAN JUST IMAGINE IF I WOULD HAVE TOTAL TRANNY FAILURE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AFTER DOING SOME SEARCH AND ASKING AROUND I WAS TOLD THAT IT MAY BE MY TRANSMISSION. I THEN TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT MY RADIATOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS COOLANT LEAKING INTO MY TRANSMISSION THAT IS CREATING WATER DAMAGE. IT'S NOT THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM THAT THEY INSTALLED FAULTY COMPONENTS IN THEIR CARS AND TRUCKS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ITEM. NOW I'M FORCED TO PAY FOR A RADIATOR AND FOR THE TRANNY TO BE REBUILD PLUS RENTAL CAR PRICE. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO ENGINE COOLANT FROM LEAKING COILING SYSTEM. *TR
DRIVING AT 65 MPH AND FELT A CLUNK AND A SURGE - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT HAD BEEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. TURNS OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO A KNOWN RADIATOR DEFECT THAT ALLOWS COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING FAILURE. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER MY CAR BECAUSE I AM BEYOND THE SPECIFIED MILEAGE OF THEIR USELESS WARRANTY EXTENSION, AGREED TO IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. REPAIRS AND RENTAL CAR WILL COST ME ABOUT $8,000. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THE CARS FOR THIS DEFECT AND SHOULD REIMBURSE THE REPAIR COSTS AT 100%. *TR
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK AND WHEN I LEFT THE GAS STATION AND STARTED DRIVING HOME THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. THE GAS GAUGE DID NOT READ AS A FULL TANK EITHER AND I ALSO FULL MY TANK UP EVERY TIME I GET GAS. I ALSO RESET TO ODOMETER SO I KNOW HOW MANY MILES I GET WITH EACH TANK OF GAS. I TOOK MY NISSAN XTERRA 2007 TO HAVE THEM READ THE CODE TO ME AND IT CAME BACK "P0463". THIS IS THE FUEL SENDER UNIT SENSOR. APPARENTLY, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE AN LONG ONGOING ISSUE WITH NISSAN. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL DEFECT BUT IT IS NOT. THE SENSOR PART GOES BAD AND THEY WANT THE CUSTOMER TO PAY OUT $600. TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS S PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP! *TR
I PARTICIPATED IN THE NISSAN CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE A RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION, DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ASSEMBLY THAT CAUSED TRAN FAILURE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TWO MAIN PARTS UNDER THE CAMPAIGN. I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE, AND ONLY HAD IT FOR 1 1/2 DAYS BEFORE ANOTHER ISSUE RELATED TO THE RADIATOR / COOLING SYSTEM WAS EXPERIENCED. I WAS YET AGAIN, ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING TO A JOB AND OVERHEATED, THUS DISABLING MY VEHICLE. I STAYED THE INTERSTATE FOR 3 HOURS WAITING ON ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I'M HAVING AN ISSUE WITH NISSAN NOT WILLING TO COVER WHAT'S CLEARLY THEIR PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH. IT'S NOT THE CONSUMER'S PROBLEM THAT THEY INSTALLED FAULTY COMPONENTS IN THEIR CARS AND TRUCKS, THAT CAUSED THE MAJOR MALFUNCTIONS. IF I WERE A CONSUMER (WHICH I AM); I WOULD FEEL THAT THEY ARE NOT OWNING UP TO THE FULL LIABILITY CAUSED BY THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN PUTTING INFERIOR PARTS IN THEIR VEHICLES THAT CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION IN THE FIRST PLACE. I'M NOT ONLY UPSET AT THEIR RESPONSE; LET'S NOT OVERLOOK THE FACT THAT ON THE TWO DAYS MY TRUCK FAILED (FIRST TIME WHEN THE TRANNY BLEW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE SECOND TIME WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN; AND OVERHEATED); I WAS HEADING TO JOB OBLIGATIONS I HAD FOR PRIVATE CLIENTS OF MINE. I LOST 1,375.65 ON DAY ONE FOR MISSING MY APPT. ON THE FIRST INCIDENT, AND AN ADDITIONAL 868.04 ON THE NEXT INCIDENT. MY TRUCK'S ISSUE IS THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE A SYSTEM FLUSH OF THE RADIATOR AND THE THERMOSTAT NEEDS REPLACEMENT... BOTH ARE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WITH THEIR CRAPPY RADIATOR ASSEMBLY THEY PUT IN THE VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I DON'T HAVE THE EXTRA MONEY TO DO THE MAINTENANCE, AND I'VE LOST MONEY IN THE ORDEAL AS WELL. I THINK IT BE "BEST PRACTICE" AND GOOD CUSTOMER CARE; THAT NNA COVER THE COST OF THE FLUSH AND THE THERMOSTAT, CAUSED FROM THE MIXTURE CONTAMINATION OF COOLANT AND TRAN FLUID. *TR
I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED WITH THE WAY NISSAN HAS HANDLED THIS PROBLEM. MY XTERRA 2007'S TRANSMISSION DID NOT GO BAD UNTIL IT REACHED OVER 120K MILES. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING CROSS COUNTRY WITH MY CHILDREN AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN SHE FELT THE GEARS SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING IN A MAJOR INTERSTATE. LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFE. I FOUND OUT SHORTLY AFTER THIS ALMOST CATASTROPHIC EXPERIENCE THAT THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING NISSANS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I GUESS THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT ONLY COVERED VEHICLES UNDER 100K MILES. WHY IS NISSAN ONLY PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO VEHICLES UNDER 100K MILES IF THERE IS A THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT. THEY SHOULD COVER ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE MILEAGE IS. I TOOK MY XTERRA TO AAMCO BECAUSE THEY CHARGE BE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LESS OF WHAT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL NISSAN OWNER SINCE 2003 AND WILL NEVER BUY A VEHICLE FROM THEM AGAIN. IN FACT, I HAVE CONVINCED FRIENDS AND FAMILIES NOT TO BUY NISSAN VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THE POOR SERVICE THAT THEY HAVE PROVIDED. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY CAME UP WITH CODE P0463 REGARDING THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. NEEDED A NEW FUEL SENDING UNIT & GAUGE ASSEMBLY INSTALLED FOR ABOUT $430.00. NISSAN HAD ISSUED A WARRANTY NOTIFICATION REGARDING THIS, EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 72 MONTHS (6 YRS) / 72,000 MILES. WE WERE BEYOND THE REVISED WARRANTY PERIOD SO WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO ISSUE A RECALL AND PAY FOR THE FIX. TO THE NHTSA!! PLEASE INVESTIGATE AND REQUIRE NISSAN TO DO THE RIGHT THING! *TR
I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN XTERRA. AT ABOUT 61000 MILES I FILLED THE GAS TANK. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS STILL SITTING ON EMPTY. SOON THEREAFTER THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH INSTRUMENTS AND HAS NOT GONE OFF SINCE. I NOTICE THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN ABOUT 156 OF THE VERY SAME PROBLEMS REPORTED WITH MANY OF THE PEOPLE RUNNING OUT OF GAS BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ITEM. *TR
THE ENGINE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR ARE RUINED. I AM A SINGLE MOM RAISING 2 KIDS TRYING TO SAVE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS EXACT PROBLEM.
VEHICLE HAD TOTAL FAILURE ON HIGHWAY. NISSAN DEALER SAYS IT IS FROM TRANSMISSION CONTAMINATION. TCM TOTALLY FAILED, NO POWER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 68 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT STATED THAT DUE TO THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000. ..UPDATED 04/18/13 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A GRINDING NOISE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE RADIATOR COOLER UNIT, WHICH WAS DETERMINED TO BE FRACTURED AND CAUSING COOLANT TO PENETRATE THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I DO NOT HAVE AN INCIDENT TO REPORT-BUT FEEL SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS TO KNOW THE POTENTIAL FOR ONE. I JUST READ THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AGAINST NISSAN AND THE OUTCOME. I AM APPALLED THAT NISSAN DOES NOT THINK THAT THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOW FIND OUT MY NISSAN IS ONE OF THOSE VEHICLES THAT HAS COOLANT IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS GOING TO COST 2500.00 AS THE MILEAGE IS OVER 80000 NOW. AND THIS IS THE CAR I ENTRUSTED MY 17 YEAR OLD TO DRIVE. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF THE ROAD AND DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO FIX IT AND TRADE OR TAKE A HUGE LOSS AND TRADE IT AT THE DEALER BUT DON'T WANT ANOTHER NISSAN. SHOULDN'T SOMETHING BE DONE TO PROTECT US FROM THIS? VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHUDDERING AT AROUND 50MPH. APPROX 2 WEEKS AGO, IT WOULDN'T SHIFT, SO I COULDN'T DRIVE FASTER THAN 25-30 MPH. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND TRANSMISSION FLUSHED, AND IT SEEMED OK, ALTHOUGH IT WAS STILL DOING THE SHUDDERING. YESTERDAY I NOTICED A STRANGE PUDDLE ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, SO I CHECKED IT OUT. THERE IS A LEAK THAT IS CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I BEGAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS APPARENTLY A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM IN 2005-2010 NISSANS. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. WHEN I CALLED THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, THE SERVICE GUY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM, AND ESTIMATED THAT TO REPAIR WOULD BE $4000-5000. *TR
DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO DRAG, I THEN CALLED THE DEALER AND BROUGHT IT RIGHT IN AND FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS GOING TO COST 6,600 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I COMPLAINED THAT IT WAS TOO MUCH MONEY. THE DEALER BROUGHT IT DOWN TO 2,500 DOLLARS TO FIX. THEN I FIND OUT IF IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE 80,000 MILES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THIS IS NOT RIGHT AS NISSAN KNEW THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OF A POOR DESIGN ON THERE PART. AS A CONSUMER I FEEL I WAS TAKEN. AFTER MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING SHUDDERING NOISES BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH I DECIDED TO BRING IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED. I WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR NISSAN SO THEY WOULD COVER PART OF THE REPAIR AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR $2500 OF THE REPAIR SINCE I WAS 1300 MILES OVER THE LIMIT. I WAS NOTIFIES THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY AT MY DISPOSAL AND ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I COULD DO. I WAS TOLD WHEN I GET THE MONEY TO CALL AND THEY WILL REPAIR IT, BUT TO ALSO HURRY BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION COULD LOCK UP ANYTIME AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS SHOCKED THEY WOULD EVEN LET ME LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. LAST MONTH THE CAR SEEMED TO START SLIPPING GEARS WHEN I GOT UP TO AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR. IT WAS SPORADIC AND ONCE I LET ME FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR A SECOND IT SEEMED TO CLEAR AND BE OK. WHEN WE OPENED THE RADIATOR CAP, THERE WAS A SLIMY BROWNISH SLUDGE ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE CAP. THAT AFTERNOON, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC ACROSS THE STREET AND HE SAID THAT I HAD A RADIATOR FAILURE OF SOME THAT HAS CAUSED RADIATOR FLUID TO GET INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS WHERE THE BROWN SLUDGE HAS COME FROM. HE SAID THE CAR NEEDED A NEW RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE FLUSHED, DROPPED, AND SERVICED AND IT WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SOMETIME SOON AFTER. THE ENTIRE THING HE QUOTED ME AS COSTING $3K. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR FROM NEW IN APRIL 2007 AND THE GENTLEMAN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMED QUITE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT IS UNDER AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM NISSAN, BUT I WOULD STILL BE OUT OF POCKET FOR AT LEAST A $2500 CO-PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
