Rearview camera lag then disconnect. Ceases functioning until restart.
The polestar 2 continues to be unsafe. When reversing the rear camera freezes up always, and takes minutes to stop lagging, being very unsafe when backing up onto a busy road out of the driveway. One pedal drive glitches and fails to brake when letting off the foot, another safety concern. TCAM and connection issues, my IPhone 16 constantly drops Bluetooth to the car, and when it drops connection it takes a hard reboot to the car for it to connect again. Front suspension knocking and clicking sound. When turning the front struts knock, and when stopping you hear a clicking noise. Polestar sold me a vehicle with a bad 12v battery that went kaput only a few months into ownership. When the 12v battery died I was locked out of my car. Polestar roadside assistance was inept and scratched my garage leaving permanent damage.
The vehicle was charging from 11% of charge from a DC fasts charging station. The car was locked and charging. When I came back out to the car, I noticed it had stopped charging at 76%. I then tried to start the charge again and the car just showed an error. I then tried the 3 other available chargers (1 of the 4 was in use by another car), and the car did not charge at any of them—showing that same error message. When I proceeded to try to drive the car this time, I received an error message on the dash stating: "Propulsion system Service required". The car would not shift into drive after this message showed up. After some time (around an hour if not less), the car did let me shift into drive and it moved, but the error still showed in the car's status page.
My backup camera does not turn on when putting the car in reverse. This happens at least 2 or 3 times every time I drive the car.
I have continued to have issues with the Rear Camera on 2022 Polestar 2. This was supposedly resolved in a software update to version 3.6.4, which I had upgraded at Polestar Boston on 7/23. However, there have been no changes since the update and the rear camera will still intermittently turn off (black message "Camera is temporarily unavailable") or flicker when in reverse.
Camera unavailable when reversing and all camera types unavailable when clicking on camera tab all types of camera are also unavailable. When NHTSA mandate they replace the infotainment system with one that has a processor and RAM capable of powering this? Infosys and polestar are not forthcoming in patching this. Poor coding and underpowered hardware is a serious issue…
The rear camera does not always work. Several times on reversing, the rear camera says “ camera not available “ and doesn’t show any image on reversing.
There is a feature to create a scheduled charge for the vehicle. This feature is stuck on, turning it off on the vehicle does not override the feature on the phone. The phone will not disable it. As a result, I am unable to charge my vehicle (until the scheduled time, presumably). Additionally, the feature to reset the TCAM system is non-responsive, which is one of the supposed fixes, how am I able to reset the system if the command to do so does not respond? Power cycling the infotainment did not work. Force closing the app did not work.
While driving on an interstate highway recently, the main screen in the car froze and then went black. There were no warnings it would happen. The HVAC, navigation, screen and other controls were gone. I changed lanes to slow down and realized the turn signal sound was also not working. I wondered if the signals were working. Luckily, I remembered how to reboot the screen and did so. After a few minutes it started up and worked again. That was the third time in a year that it happened. Each time was on a highway. The first time was frightening as I had to exit the highway and research how to try to get it working again. I consider it a safety hazard because the driver must take attention off the road to deal with restarting it and to rerun applications like navigation. Also the the turn signal should not be dependent on the information screen working. The dealer was not informed because I found a solution by reading an owners forum. I also learned that it happens to others more often than it should and that the thinking is that the computer that handles the "infotainment" system is not powerful enough and does not have enough memory to handle the work it needs to do.
There have been two recalls to address the backup camera failing to initialize when the vehicle is put into reverse. After the most recent update, my camera fails to initialize even more than before.
Rear camera fails to load. This is after the update that was issued because of the recall. Restarting the car multiple times did nothing, still stated that the “Camera is temporarily unavailable.” Backup sensors do seem to be working. This is a scary thing to happen as I could hit something when reversing.
Rear back up camera keeps going in / out, freezing and I have almost hit cars/people because I thought the car was stationary (screen frozen). The screen flickers constantly making backing up very treacherous.
The car's rear camera freezes up for a few second and then blacks out intermittently. An error code even appears, "Camera is temporarily unavailable." I am terrified that one of my kids (or someone else) is going to run behind the car and I won't realize it because the camera is frozen. I know other owners are experiencing this, too, and it's only a matter of time until it kills someone.
Network connectivity has stopped making it impossible to use maps, schedule charging, or use the polestar app. This is the second time for this issue. Also the car became completely unresponsive to the key requiring it to be towed. Each time software is updated but no specific cause is noted.
There are two major mechanical problems: 1. The backup camera is unreliable and dangerous. It flickers horribly while in use, often blacking out for multiple seconds at a time. 2. The automatic braking feature is overly sensitive and occasionally slams the brakes when you're trying to park, making you think you've hit something. I've asked Polestar to fix both of these issues, or to at least disable the automatic braking. No luck.
Approx 2 months into taking possession of the car I lost the ability to use the virtual key. I made every attempt to re-add feature to no avail. Four months later I have now had a failure with the TCAM. I have lost all ability to connect to Wi-Fi which affects the ability to use SOS, I can’t track my vehicle, I’m unable to schedule charging, no access to internet apps, I’ve attempted to tether my phone which fails, etc. I’ve contacted the company who gave suggestions to reset the TCAM that did not work. Emails have been traded back and forth prolonging the repair. I’m still attempting to schedule a time to get the vehicle inspected/repaired. The only visible warning/indication I had is the “triangle with an x” indicating there was no Wi-Fi that was my key indication and then noticing my lack of ability to schedule charging. Upon noticing those in the same day I began to notice other features no longer worked.
Multiple instances where the vehicle's TCAM has failed, leaving us stranded in a parking lot. Car drives as normal. Lock the car. Return to the car and the vehicle no longer recognizes the key(s). Only solution is to go to dealer and have vehicle's systems reset. However, the problem has returned.
I completely lost cell connectivity in the car. the TCAM module is not functioning and I am unable to reset it the way Polstar suggests we can reset it. I get no GPS, No data and Phone does not work as a key.
Vehicle becomes nonrespive and becomes disabled. The only way to get vehicle to function is by disconnecting the 12v battery and waiting for the car to reset and then proceed. This happened multiple times and the manufacturer is not taking care of the problem.
Polestar 2 has a series of software and hardware system failures where the dealership is not logging them asking customers that instead of leaving their car, they can take a look at it right now. The software team is then instructed to reload the 2.2 to 2.4 software as their system is not fully updating causing conflicting software packets leading to dangerous glitches. My specific PS2 has 2.3 software on it and the vehicle lane assistance package drove the car on two occasions into a bike lane. Prior to the the car had a complete system and safety failure where the car accelerated, changed lanes on the freeway to the fast last from the middle lane and then proceeded to flash hardware errors and software errors that disabled all of the safety systems from cameras, blind spot assistance, lane assistance, and more. The vehicle rapidly accelerated on it's own and changed lanes. Polestar took over 3 weeks to get a report that matches the onboard and OTA communications to order a replacement part. It happened again on the bike lane and the vehicle has been with Polestar for 4 months now as are other vehicles and it is happening to other 2022 PS2's with the lane assist and cruise control system (activated or not activated). https://patch.com/california/lakeforest-ca/tesla-crashes-garage-lake-forest-thursday This is very dangerous as when my situation occurred there was no one in the bike lane by the school nor the fast lane on the freeway (both very rare to be empty). The link above (while the link says tesla) it is a polestar of same features less seats and the driver interviewed said that their vehicle rapidly accelerated and changes lanes. Their auto-breaking system and accident avoidance did not stop the vehicle. Errors flashed on the screen and the system crashed. Polestar towed the vehicle and will has not yet provided other information. I have the VIN for that car after speaking to the other party
