I have started to experience sudden acceleration issues. The car, when you are attempting to pull into a parking spot or garage, will seem to accelerate, sensors beeping. I have jumped curbs and even crashed into bikes in my garage. The car has had a slew of issues (engine propulsion, losing power), and I have had it at the dealer 4 times. Polestar stopped communicating with me when I let them know this happened. I have read others online claiming the same thing. I had had others witness this happening
Backup camera often turns off and on 3 to 6 times when backing up after first starting the car. If can be off for 5 to 20 seconds when it flashes off and it all happens within a 2min window. It makes it very dangerous when backing up. This is not a new issue as I’ve had it for over a year and has been reported by others on forum websites for the car. It seem related to the infortainment system fully as the screen is shared with it.
The rearview camera is completely unstable and almost unusable. After various software upgrades the problem has got worse not better and Polestar seem to take zero responsibility to fix this.
the rear camera on this car has been having issues for well over a year. The dealership says they are well aware of the issues and that it's common but there is nothing they can do about it and that I just need to wait for an update to eventually come. They do not know when the update is coming. This has been an ongoing issue that is a big safety issue. The rear visibility on these cars is bad to begin with, so the rear camera is essential for safety. it either doesn't go on at all every other time I try to go in reverse, or it will just cut off mid-reverse driving. This is just on top of all the rest of the infotainment system issues this car has.
Starting in 2022 the car started to "black out" when I drove it. The spedeometer and screen would go completely dark, especially at speeds over 60 MPH I reported this to Polestar in 2023, they incorrectly diagnosed it as a TPMS warning when I brought it to the dealer. I called Polestar back in July 2023, but a nearby dealer was 7 hours away. I brought the car into the dealer March 2024, they had it for several days, didn't detect a problem and sent me home w car. It did it again, I was able to capture this footage on video, they then took the car back again and finally believed me. They had questioned me before. They ended up replacing the IHU
I RECEIVED THIS VEHICLE AS A RENTAL FROM HERTZ WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR THE "DRIVE TO WORKSHOP SRS AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT" WAS ILLUMINATED.
The vehicle improperly sensed an impending rear collision when there was no vehicle present. The vehicle entered a mode where the electronic seatbelt tensioners aggressively pulled the occupants and did not release until the seatbelt latches were depressed. This happened in traffic. The occupants sustained soft tissue injuries. The manufacturer refused to acknowledge the situation.
The EV will refuse to charge at ChargePoint locations and will error out with a red light.
Vehicle chassis vibrates noticeably at speeds around 30 mph and 65 mph, which is translated to the steering wheel. The vibration is of a high frequency, almost akin to a sander, and is most prominent under acceleration or deceleration. It's been present since I took delivery of the car in December of 2022 and can be felt on every drive. Polestar can reproduce the problem in other Polestar 2s and claims this vibration is within spec, but it feels like a defective drive shaft, which is quite worrying. There are many reports of this issue across the internet. The parking camera system freezes and flickers on a fresh startup on a fairly consistent basis, all you have to do is let the car go into a "sleep state" then enter the car and go in to reverse. Also, there are false positives from the parking collision system in the rear when going down a sidewalk apron, causing the emergency braking system to trigger. This has happened often enough to the point where I disable the emergency braking system on every startup.
Rattles and popping noises from the front driver door and window glass. The problem can be reproduced. Door shaking while driving. Please see the attached video.
The contact owns a 2023 Polestar Polestar2. The contact stated that on several occasions when the vehicle was shifted in reverse(R) the back over prevention camera screen was black. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determine that an unknown software update needed to be performed. The software update was performed four times, but the failure persisted. The contact was provided a 2023 Polestar Polestar2 loaner, and the vehicle also experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10.
