I HAD ALL 3 OF THE RECALLS FIXED AT PHIL SMITH CHEVROLET IN LAUDERHILL FLORIDA ABOUT 4-6 MONTHS AGO. THEY REPLACED A PART ON MY GEAR SHIFT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM COMING OUT OF GEAR. I WAS GETTING IN MY VEHICLE TO LEAVE & AS I TRIED TO START IT THE CAR BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS WHILE STILL IN PARK. THE PART THEY REPLACED 4-6 MONTHS AGO TO RECTIFY THE RECALL ON THIS BROKE. THANK GOD MY HUSBAND WAS HERE & WAS ABLE TO HELP ME STOP THE CAR & TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE NEW PART THEY ARE TRYING TO USE TO FIX THE RECALL.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WAS STOPPED BY A POLICE OFFICER BECAUSE FLUID WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IT TURNS OUT THAT A FITTING ON THE GAS TANK BROKE AND FUEL WAS BEING PUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT A HIGH RATE. THIS IS A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION AND DEFECTIVE PLASTIC FITTINGS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON VEHICLES.
ON JULY 9 AND 29 2015. IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING MY CAR SUDDENLY WENT DEAD POWER STEERING LOCKED HAD TO WRESTLING WITH IT JUST TO KEEP FROM HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE GET OFF THE ROAD. IT HAD BEGIN TO SHAKE AS IF THE FRONT END WAS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. THE CAR DID NOT START. I CHANGED THE BATTERY AS WELL AS THE ALTERNATOR AND IT STILL DID THE SAME THING AGAIN TWO WEEKS LATER ON JULY 29 2015. STILL HAD NOT STARTED.

AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING NEAR THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,700.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IN JULY OF 2014 TO BE REPAIRED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). IN MAY OF 2015, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH RECALL REPAIRS FAILED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DEALER WOULD NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND REPAIR IT AGAIN. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE MILEAGE WAS TOO HIGH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,570.

LETTER FROM SENATOR GILLIBRAND ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2006 PONTIAC G6 CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HIS MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER STATED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT. HOWEVER, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING HARD. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE EXHAUST CAM SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING THE ISSUE. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE FRONT END SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AS WELL AS INJURIES TO THE NECK, BACK, HEAD, AND RIGHT LEG. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 193,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE COMING TO A QUICK STOP TO AVOID A VEHICLE WHICH RAN A RED LIGHT,MY CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY IN THE FRONT END. I PROCEEDED A COUPLE OF MILES AND WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE MY TURN THE FRONT STARTED VIBRATING AND SHAKING AGAIN. I HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED BY MY LOCAL GMC DEALER. TO MY SURPRISE THEY FOUND THE BRAKES WERE WELL IN RANGE OF SPECS. I LEFT THINKING EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE NEXT DAY ON MY WAY TO WORK WHEN I REACHED 50 MPH IT STARTED SHAKING AGAIN. SEEMS EVERY TIME I HAD APPLIED MY BRAKES AGGRESSIVELY THE FRONT OF THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO COLLAPSE. I AGAIN HAD THE TECH GUY LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THIS TIME THEY FOUND THAT THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE INTERNAL WAS READING FAULT.
MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON DIC STATING "POWER STEERING". A FEW DAYS LATER IT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN AT LOWER SPEEDS.
2006 PONTIAC G6. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AND OTHER VEHICLE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, A MESSAGE LIGHT AND ALARM WENT OFF SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER HAD VERY LIMITED STEERING CAPABILITIES. BY THE TIME SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED, SHE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED DUE TO A RECALL BACK IN OCTOBER 2014. *JB
THE POWER WINDOW WENT DOWN BUT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT I DID NOT REPORT IT UNTIL NOW. *TR
WHILE PROCEEDING IN TRAFFIC ON AN URBAN ROADWAY, ENGINE AND OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. AFTER TEN OR SO MINUTES, CAR RESTARTS IN THE NORMAL WAY. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A MONTH OR SO. CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AS IS, SINCE SHUTDOWN OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITH NO WARNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING YEARLY INSPECTION STICKER. I NOTICE THERE IS A RECALL ON 2006 PONTIAC G6 AIR BAGS FRONTAL. CONTACTED PONTIAC MAIN BRANCH AND STATED MY CAR WASN'T ON THE LIST OF THE RECALLS. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTOR SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL PAN, WATER PUMP AND THE CROSS OVER PIPE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
I WAS IN THE MERGING LANE TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR LOSS POWER. MY CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE,BUT WOULD NOT GO PAST 2 RPM. DISPLAY PANEL DISPLAYED "REDUCED POWER". *TR
ON MARCH 4, 2015, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT A STARTING SPEED FROM A STOP LIGHT, WHEN MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS. I HAD MY VEHICLE INSPECTED TO VERIFY THAT MY VEHICLE HAD ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH THE FLUID WAS A CLEAN COLOR RED. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON FEBRUARY 2014, FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP. *TR
FAILED OR FAILING POWER STEERING RECALL REPAIR. POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON LAST EVENING (2/23/2015). VEHICLE RECALL ALERT SENT OUT IN JUNE 2014 WAS REPAIRED BY WESTON ONCE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED SINCE REPAIR UNTIL LAST EVENING ON DRIVE HOME FROM WORK. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. I HAVE HEARD IT IS NOT POSITIVE TO ALERT DEALER AGAIN AS THEY MAY CHARGE UP TO $800-$1000 TO REPLACE AT WORSE CASE SCENARIO THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. WE PURCHASED A 2006 G6 AND WHEN DRIVING AND WHILE THE CAR IS TURNED OF SITTING IT HAS A HEAVY SMELL OF GAS...I READ ONLINE IT WAS A RECALL IN SOME BUT WASN'T SURE ON OURS...I WAS TOLD IT IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP...I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT PEOPLE BELIEVE 2007 AND NEWER ARE RECALLED BUT NOT 2006 BUT A BUNCH OF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD MAKE A RECALL FOR 2006!!! *TR
MY AIRBAG MESSAGE KEEP COMING ON THE DASH AND MY CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND DOESN'T WANT TO TURN BACK ON IT TAKES ABOUT LIKE AN HOUR AND A HALF OR TWO TO START BACK UP TO RESET THE COMPUTER I KNOW MY PONTIAC POWER STEERING IS ELECTRIC AND ALSO THAT MESSAGE POPS UP ON THE DASH AND MY CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND WONT TURN BACK ON IN ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO IT DONE THIS TO ME NUMEROUS TIMES AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THE EXACT PROBLEM AND I'D LIKE TO KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW THAT'S NOT NORMAL. *TR
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED BY A EXXON MECHANIC AND HE INFORMED ME OF ONE OF THE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE (ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING). I CONTACTED THE NEAREST GM DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA REQUESTING INFORMATION ON THE RECALL PROCESS. A MEMBER OF THE SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME OF 3 OPEN RECALLS ON MY CAR. I ASKED HER WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS. SHE SAID THE RECALL PARTS CAN BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. I ASKED HER IF REPLACING THE CAR OR BEING REIMBURSEMENT WAS AN OPTION. SHE SAID SHE NEVER HEARD OF THAT. AFTER HER DENYING IF THAT WAS EVEN AN OPTION SHE LATER INFORMED ME THAT GETTING REIMBURSED WAS A LENGTHY PROCESS. I ASKED HER TO POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I WAS GIVEN GENERAL MOTORS RECALL NUMBER. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND AFTER EXPLAINING MY STORY TO SEVERAL AGENTS. FINALLY AN AGENT CONTACTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. THAT OCCURRED AROUND 11AM. I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM GM OR THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL 3 PM THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE GUY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE CAR WAS THERE FOR. MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 24 HOURS WITH KNOW CONTACT INFO OR SERVICE REQUEST. I CALLED [XXX] AT GM AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHERE MY CAR WAS. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE SENT TO CRISWELL CHEVY DEALERSHIP. I INFORMED HIM IT WAS AT KING BUICK GMC. WE FURTHER DISCUSSED WHAT I WANTED TO COME OUT OF THIS AND I LET HIM KNOW I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR WITH POWER STEERING AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES. HE REPEATEDLY ASKED IF I WAS SURE I WANTED TO BE DONE WITH THE CAR. HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD TRY HIS BEST TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BUT FIRST I NEEDED TO GIVE PERMISSION TO REPLACE THE RECALL PARTS WHEN WE SPEAK WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN THE AM. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING REQUESTING A LOANER VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD I CAN NOT GET ONE BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF, AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT A SECOND TIME. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT A THIRD TIME, THE STEERING WHEEL LOOSENED AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED FLUTTERING BACK AND FORTH. *JS

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,300.

I HAD 3 RECALLS FIXED ON MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 LAST WEEK. LESS THAN I WEEK LATER, MY POWER STEERING COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. LUCKILY, I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AT THE TIME IT GAVE OUT AND NOT DRIVING AROUND LOTS OF OTHER VEHICLES, AS I COULD BARELY PHYSICALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND CALL FOR HELP, AS THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD EVEN DRIVE TO A DEALERSHIP OR ANYWHERE FOR HELP. *TR

PULLED INTO GROCERY STORE GENTLEMAN CAME OVER TO ME AND SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH EITHER MY TAILLIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS, THEY DISAPPEAR WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE. THEN ON JAN. 13TH, REC'D PHONE CALL FROM SHERIFF'S DEPT. SOMEONE TURNED IN MY PLATE NUMBER SO THEY COULD INFORM ME MY TAIL LIGHTS OR BAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. TOOK THE CAR IN AND IT COULDN'T BE WORKED ON THAT NEXT DAY. ANYWAY I DID HAVE SOME RECALLS, AND WHEN PARTS AVAILABLE TOOK TO THE DEALER AND ALL 3 RECALLS WERE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. ONE RECALL I KNOW WAS REGARDING SOMETHING WITH REAR LIGHTING. HAD NO PROBLEMS AND NO COMPLAINTS BEFORE TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. ALL I KNOW IS THE TWO GOOD CITIZENS WERE WORRIED ABOUT ME GETTING REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. AND I AM DRIVING AROUND IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DEALER CAN'T FIT ME IN UNTIL WED. THE JAN 21, AND IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM THEY DIDN'T FIX AND GOT PAID FOR. I TRIED TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, AND IT APPEARED AFTER I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, MY TAIL LIGHT FADED OUT FOR AWHILE AND GRADUALLY CAME BACK ON. SO IT APPEARS I HAVE NO TAIL LIGHTS. ONE RECALL WAS POWER STEERING AND THAT IS JUST FINE, BUT THE OTHER TWO I DON'T EXACTLY RECALL WHAT THEY WERE. MY MAIN CONCERN, IS I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT ALL 3 RECALLS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. *TR

THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING AND WAS VIRTUALLY INCAPABLE OF DRIVING. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHEN TRYING TO PARK OR DRIVING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. I WAS UNABLE TO PARALLEL PARK AND AS A RESULT IT TOOK OVER 30 MINUTES OF EFFORT TO TRY AND GET MY CAR CORRECTLY INTO THE SPOT. I HAD TO KEEP SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON TO TRY AND GET THE WHEEL TO TURN. THIS WOULD ONLY BRIEFLY FIX THE STEERING FOR A MATTER OF SECONDS AND WAS STILL HARD TO TURN DURING THOSE SECONDS. EVENTUALLY, I JUST GAVE UP AND MOVED MY CAR INTO A SPOT THAT DID NOT REQUIRE PARALLEL PARKING. HOWEVER, THIS TOO WAS AN ISSUE TO PARK. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE NUMEROUS TIMES AND IT POSSES AS A SERIOUS SAFELY ISSUE WHEN USING THE CAR. *TR
WELL MY BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO I HAVE NO CRUISE CONTROL. AN WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE IT SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO BE STUCK UNLESS I PUSH HARD ON THE BREAK PEDAL. I WAS SENT NOTICES FOR RECALLS TO THE CAR FOR "BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION" AND "TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FRACTURE". ON DEC 15, 2014 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE FROM KISSIMMEE, FL TO DOWN TOWN ORLANDO, THE POWER STEERING IN MY CAR FAILED! THE ALARM WENT OFF AND THEN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND TOLD THEM THAT THE CAR'S POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THEN ASK THEM WHY I DID NOT GET A NOTICE OF THE RECALL BUT FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET; THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IN THE RECALL. THEY FIXED THE OTHER RECALL ITEMS BUT REFUSED TO EVEN CHECK MY CAR'S POWER STEERING. I CALLED GMC DIRECT AND SPOKE TO [XXX] (QUALITY CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE) DIRECTOR. SHE PASSED MY CONCERN ONTO ANOTHER DEPT. THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT GMC WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT POWER STEERING HAS FAILED IN THE 2006 G6 BUT THAT SINCE MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THEIR LIST THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I AM DRIVING A POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP. I AM UNEMPLOYED LOOKING FOR A JOB AND NEED MY CAR. I CANNOT AFFORD AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF WHAT COULD COST $1500.00 TO REPAIR AN ERROR ON GMC'S SIDE. MORE PEOPLE ARE AT RISK IN THE 2006 G6 AND GMC NEEDS TO RECALL ALL CARS WITH POWER STEERING FAILURES. BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BY THEIR LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY.
