HAD RECALL PART PUT ON CAR 10/1/13 EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH GEAR SHIFTER. RAN AN ERRAND YESTERDAY, STOPPED CAR, KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT, JIGGLED IT, THEN IT CAME OUT WITH DIFFICULTY. CAME BACK, PUT KEY IN, IT WOULD ONLY GO IN HALF WAY. THEN NOTICED SHIFTER WAS NOT LOCKING, IT WAS LOOSE FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND STEERING WHEEL DID NOT LOCK EITHER. 4 WEEKS AFTER SHIFTER CABLE PUT ON, I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM, WAS STRANDED AT STORE. *TR
I HAVE SEIZURES BECAUSE OF THE ENORMOUS FUEL SPILLAGE FROM THE FUEL PUMP. I CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SEIZURES NIGHTLY BECAUSE OF THE FUEL SMELL. *TR
THIS CAR HAS A POPPING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. WAS TOLD TO ME NORMAL. IT FEEL REALLY UNSAFE AND SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE AS WELL "THE INTERMEDIARY STEERING SHAFT" GM MOST KNOW THIS AND WILL NOT RECALL IT!?!?!?! THEY SHOULD HAVE TO. WHAT IF SOMEONE DIES!? PLEASE HELP, ANY AT ALL WOULD BE GREAT :) *TR
WHEN I START MY CAR I NOW RECEIVE A "SERVICE AIR BAG" ALONG WITH A "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR". THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND I SHOULD JUST REPLACE THE SENSORS TO BE SAFE. IS THIS SAFE? SHOULDN'T THERE BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE SINCE IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN SO FREQUENTLY? *TR
AFTER THIS PART WAS REPLACED AT AROUND 30,000 MILES, IT HAS FAILED AGAIN AT 59,000 MILES (SEEMS TO FAIL REGULARLY AT AROUND THE 30,000 MILE MARKER). CLUNKING NOISE AFTER WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. THE NOISE IS MORE NOTABLE DURING COLD WEATHER AND DURING LOW SPEED TURNS (TURN INTO PARKING LOT SPACES...90 DEGREE TURNS). AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN OF A GM SERVICE CENTER, THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS ANOTHER "BAD INTERMEDIATE SHAFT." THIS PART CONNECTS THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLE (NON ELECTRIC VERSION). ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN, THIS IS A KNOWN FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND OTHER GM VEHICLES USING THE SAME PLATFORM. HE HAS SEEN THIS FAILURE ON A REGULAR BASIS (USUALLY WITHIN A YEAR OR 2 OF REPLACEMENT). ACCORDING TO HIM, SOME OF THE OTHER VEHICLES USING THE EXACT SAME PLATFORM HAVE RECALLS ON THEM FOR THIS PART, BUT GM HAS NOT INITIATE A RECALL FOR THE G6...ONLY TSBS (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) AT THIS POINT IN TIME. SINCE THIS FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DECLARED A RECALL, IT WILL COST THE VEHICLE OWNER ABOUT $250 FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING A BELL WENT OFF IN THE CAR AND AN ALERT ON DASH READ POWER STEERING. THERE WAS A CLUNK NOISE AND THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO GO OFF MAKING THE CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. *TR
STOPPED CAR PUT INTO REVERSE, JERKED WELL BACKING UP, SELECTED DRIVE AND CAR JERKED GOING FORWARD. TRANSMISSION DIFFERENTIAL NEEDLE BEARING HAD FALLEN APART AND WAS GETTING INTO PLANTARY GEARS IN DIFFERENTIAL, BUSTING GEARS AND CAUSING CAR NOT TO MOVE.701
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
2008 G6 SEDAN. REAR DRIVER SIDE POWER LOCK INOPERABLE. THE LOCK MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED BY THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE WITH A SMALL CHILD OR DISABLED PERSON IN THE BACK SEAT WHOM CANNOT UNLOCK THE DOOR IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THE LOCK IS POSITIONED TOO FAR REARWARD FOR FRONT SEAT PASSENGERS TO UNLOCK WITHOUT CLIMBING INTO THE BACK SEAT. MORE THAN ANYTHING, THE POSITION OF THE LOCK IS WHAT MAKES THE FAILURE MODE SO POTENTIALLY UNSAFE. *TR
MY BRAKE LAMPS R COMING ON WHEN IM NOT APPLYING THEM WHILE DRIVING & N PARK, MY CRUISE CONTROL COMES ON WHEN IT WANTS, IN IF ITS ACTIVATED DISENGAGES ITSELF AT RANDOM, I ALMOST CAUSED N ACCIDENT AND WAS PULLED OVER BY A NY STATE TROOPER WHO HAPPEN TO GIVE ME A BREAK, Y IS THIS NOT A RECALL DUE TO A SEARCHER THE ISSUE IN SEVERAL R COMPLAINING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE SUBMITTED TWO PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS, ONE FOR BRAKE LIGHTS FUNCTIONING IMPROPERLY AND ONE FOR MY REAR-DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK, DOOR AJAR MESSAGE AND DOME LIGHT ISSUES. A NEW ISSUE HAS RECENTLY SURFACED. THE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" MESSAGE NOW APPEARS INTERMITTENTLY, YET THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ACTUAL ISSUE. THIS MESSAGE, ALONG WITH "DOOR AJAR", APPEAR OFF AND ON AT RANDOM. *TR
I STARTED TO SMELL A GAS LEAK COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS PARKED. I HAVE SEEN OTHER RECALLS ABOUT PARTS WEARING OUT IN HOT WEATHER STATES AND BELIEVE THAT MY CAR IS BEING AFFECTED. IT IS NOT PART OF THE CURRENT RECALL. WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS OF A FEW DAYS AGO WITH OUR 2007 PONTIAC G-6 AS WELL. *TR
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAM) STOP WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND TWICE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE PAST YEAR. I KEEP HAVING TO GET THE HARNESS REPLACED BECAUSE THE WIRING THAT CONNECTS THE HARNESS TO SOCKET KEEPS MELTING. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2010 AND THE PROBLEM STARTED APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO, WITH NO ALTERATIONS TO ANYTHING PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S CAUSING THIS ASAP OR THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, I HAVE READ PLENTY OF OTHER SAME REPORTS FOR THE SAME VEHICLE. THIS IS A FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME. *JS
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY GOING ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES. SOMETIMES IF I BANG ON THE HEADLIGHT COVER IT WILL POP BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING, IN DRIVE, MOVING OR PARKED. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS AND EVEN ORDERED A REPLACEMENT KIT FROM PONTIAC FOR ONE SIDE. I STILL HAVE THE ISSUES. I'VE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER G6'S WITH HEADLIGHTS OUT BEFORE I REALIZED IT WASN'T JUST MY CAR.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I TRIED TO SET MY CRUISE CONTROL. IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I'D NOTICED THIS BEFORE BUT THOUGHT LITTLE OF IT UNTIL SOMEONE ALMOST REAR ENDED ME. LUCKILY THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS NICE ENOUGH TO PULL UP BESIDE ME AND INFORM ME STATING, "HEY, YOU KNOW YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING. ITS LIKE WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING THEY'RE ON BUT WHEN YOU BRAKE, THEY TURN OFF, IT'S KINDA WEIRD." ONCE GETTING TO MY DESTINATION, I HAD ONE OF MY FRIENDS TRAIL BEHIND ME AND OBSERVE THIS ISSUE AND IT WAS INDEED TRUE. LATER THAT NIGHT, I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND DECIDED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE OR CAUSED SOMEONE THEIRS. *TR
ON THE WAY BACK HOME FROM FAMILY VACATION WE STOPPED ON THE INTERSTATE FOR A BREAK WHEN I CAME OUTSIDE FROM THE FACILITIES THERE WAS SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD I OPENED IT TO FIND FLAMES AFTER PUTTING THE FLAMES OUT AND INSPECTING THE DAMAGE I REALIZED MY HEADLIGHT AND WIRING HAD MELTED FROM THE FLAMES NO IDEA WHY IT HAPPENED BUT HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE LIGHTBULBS IN BOTH HEADLIGHTS MORE THAT I SHOULD OF SINCE BUYING THE CAR. *TR
BACK IN SEPTEMBER MY STEERING LOCKED UP ON ME TWICE AND SHOWED UP ON SCREEN AS POWER STEERING ISSUE. I TOLLK IT IN TO A GM DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT GET THE CODES TO COME UP. THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD BCM. I CHANGED THAT AND IT WORKED FOR A WHILE. THEN IN MARCH IT DID IT AGAIN BUT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY AS MY CAR HAD OVER 150000 MILES ON IT. AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION WITH GM WE CHANGED THE BCM, STEERING MODULE AND THE STEERING COLUMN APPROX $1200 (AFTER A DISCOUNT FROM GM). A FEW DAYS LATER THEY ANNOUNCED THE RECALL. I HAD NOT SEEN ANYTHING IN THE MAIL SO I CALLED GM TO BE TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I AM SO DISGUSTED OBVIOUSLY THE PARTS ARE BAD AND ALL SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOME ONE GETS HURT. *TT
AS I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT IN A BUSY AREA THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ALL OF THE SUDDEN ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT IMPACT. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY PULL OVER INTO THE MICHAEL'S STORE NEAR BY. THE AIR BAGS HIT MY HEAD AND ARM. THE ENTIRE SIDE AIR BAG SYSTEM, INCLUDING THE SEAT MECHANISM EXPLODED FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO THE BACK PASSENGER. *TR
AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE THE SERVICE TIRE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON THEN SHORTLY AFTER THIS, MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ALSO TURNED ON. IT TURNS OFF AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME I START MY CAR.
WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE CAR STAY ON, WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE LIGHTS RETURN TO NORMAL OR WORK IN REVERSE, BUT ONLY FOR APPROX. 15 SECONDS THEN TURN ON AGAIN. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME UNTIL I PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE. THEN BRAKE LIGHTS COME BACK ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS. -CRUISE CONTROL WORKS WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OFF, BUT ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS BECAUSE OF THE FIRST ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TRUCKS BEEPING AT ME AND CARS FLASHING LIGHTS AT ME FROM BEHIND BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHTS ON ALL THE TIME AND ON THE HIGHWAY IT IS WORSE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT TO SOMEONE OR RAGE DRIVERS BEHIND ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6 CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPENING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP, THE PLASTIC HINGES FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,240.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2008 PONTIAC G6 4CYL AUTOMATIC FOR MY DAUGHTER. EVERYTHING WORKS FINE EXCEPT - BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY AND NOTHING WORKS FROM A KEY FOB AND THE DEALER COULD NOT PROGRAM IT. THE REAR DOORS MUST BE MANUALLY LOCKED, OR UNLOCKED. ALSO, CANNOT LOCK OR UNLOCK REAR DOORS FROM THE FRONT DOOR SWITCH. BOTH FRONT DOORS DO LOCK AND UNLOCK PROPERLY BY THE DOOR SWITCH AND THE PARK POSITIONS, BUT NOT THE REAR DOORS. THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY WILL NOT OPERATE ANYTHING AND THE DEALER STATED I NEED A NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE TO PROGRAM THE KEY FOBS. THE CAR HAS THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY AP8 CODE AND THE DEALER SAID A REMOTE SHOULD WORK AFTER PROGRAMMING, BUT THEY COULD NOT DO IT. I PAID DEALERS $200 FOR SCANS ONLY TO FIND OUT THE FUNCTION IS LOCKED, THEY SAY. AND NOW DEALER WANTS ANOTHER $550 FOR A NEW BCM AND APPROX. $100 FOR A NEW REMOTE KEY FOB, AND MAYBE ABOUT $300 OR SO MORE FOR BOTH REAR DOOR LOCK LATCHES REPLACED. I DECLINED. DUE TO NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, IT SEEMS TO ME THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL OR A FIX AT NO CHARGE BY GM. *TR

FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY..... SMELLED RAW GAS AFTER A BRIEF PARK IN MY GARAGE. KEPT SMELLING GAS, ONLY TO LEARN THAT THE FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY HAS A CRACK IN IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND THEY BOTH SAID THAT THIS "IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE PONTIAC G6". FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD, THE ASSEMBLY HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC, AND IT IS COMMON THAT IT CRACKS ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, COSTING IN UPWARDS OF $800.00. *TR
HELLO, I HAVE A 2008 PONTIAC G6. STARTING IN AUGUST IS WHEN THIS ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON WHEN IM NOT EVEN TOUCHING THE BRAKE. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE STOP ME & ASK ME IF I AM RIDING MY BRAKES AT ALL BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON. I ACTUALLY HAD SOMEONE TELL ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON & THEN WHEN I CAME TO THE REDLIGHT THEY WENT OFF WHEN I WAS ACTUALLY STOPPED. MY CRUISE CONTROL ISN'T WORKING EITHER. I CALLED THE DEALER WHO I BOUGHT MY CAR OFF OF & HE SAID HE ALSO HAS 4 OTHER G6S THAT RANGE FROM 2007-2008 THAT ARE DOING THIS SAME THING & HE IS UNSURE HOW TO FIX IT. I CALLED OTHER DEALERS & THEY SAID THAT IF THE DEALERSHIP WHO I BOUGHT THE CARE OFF OF DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT THEN I NEED TO CONTACT GM. I CALLED GM TODAY & THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERS AROUND ME & THERE IS ONLY 1 GM DEALER & THAT IS WHO I BOUGHT THE CAR OFF OF & HE SAID HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM. I HAVE A 20 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WHO RIDES IN MY CAR EVERYDAY & SAFETY IS THE NUMBER 1 THING. I SAW THERE WERE RECALLS IN 2005-2007 BUT NOTHING IN 2008 ON BRAKES. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO IS HAVING THIS ISSUE THERE ARE 4 OTHER CARS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED INTO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER BUT WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,471.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON ALL THE TIME. WHEN FIRST PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THEY GO OFF BUT THEN GO BACK ON AFTER 3-5SECS. PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL FURTHER SO THE BRAKES ACTUALLY APPLY, THE LIGHTS RE-ILLUMINATE. CRUISE CONTROL ALSO WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHICH FROM OTHER POSTS SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY THIS ISSUE. MY REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK JUST STARTED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AS WELL - COULD BE UNRELATED HOWEVER IT ALL SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING AT ONCE SO SOMETHING ELECTRICAL IS GOING BAD. LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. *TR
THE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, AND THE LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE. *JB
IN AUGUST OF 2013, I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN STANDING TOWARDS THE BACK END OF MY G6. THE PROBLEM WAS A BAD FUEL PUMP. MILEAGE WAS ~58,000. A FEW WEEKS LATER, MY CAR BEGAN STALLING AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT IS NOW MAY, 2014 AND I'VE HAD MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FUEL SYSTEM RELATED ISSUES FIVE TIMES. THEY'VE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND CHARCOAL CANISTER A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES AND THEY EVEN REPLACED THE GAS TANK DURING ROUND THREE. AFTER THE MOST RECENT REPAIRS, I GET "CHECK GAS CAP" MESSAGES ON MY RADIO CONSOLE EVERY TIME I FILL UP, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAVE ACCELERATION ISSUES. I'M JUST WAITING FOR IT TO STALL ON ME AGAIN AND I PRAY IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN ON AN ON RAMP. ALL REPAIRS ARE DOCUMENTED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. IN APRIL, BOTH LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS BEGAN WORKING SPORADICALLY AND WITHIN A WEEK, QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY. I WENT TO A SHOP CLOSE TO THE OFFICE AND PAID $50 TO HAVE BOTH LOW-BEAM BULBS REPLACED. AFTER ABOUT THREE WEEKS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BULB WAS OUT AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOOK THE HEAD LAMP OUT AND SHOWED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE HEAD LAMPS. I'M NOW CONCERNED THAT THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE MORE WIDESPREAD AND COULD BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED SOMETHING WAS WRONG I WAS DRIVING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING, TIRE FELT WEIRD. (RIGHT FRONT TIRE) LIKE I HAD A FLAT TIRE. I WAS DRIVING IN MY CAR WHEN I NOTICED MY SEAT MOVED WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVAL HOME, I FOUND I COULD MOVE THE ENTIRE SEAT AND IT WAS NO LONGER PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE TRACK ASSEMBLY. RIGHT AROUND THE SAME TIME, THE ELECTRIC HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT ON THE DRIVERS SEAT ALSO BROKE - AND BROKE THROUGH THE SEAT AND NOW IS EXPOSED - I CAN SEE 3 OF THE SPOKES OF THE WHEEL. IF I RAISE THE HEIGHT OF THE SEAT, THE ENTIRE SEAT SHIFTS AND LEANS AGAINST THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IF I LOWER THE SEAT ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND, THE SEAT MOVES CLOSER TO THE "CENTER" OF WHERE IT SHOULD REMAIN. HOWEVER, THE SEAT IS ALWAYS SLANTED AND THE ENTIRE DRIVERS SEAT PIECE IS SKEWED. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN MOVING ON ITS OWN, ACTUALLY TRYING TO WRESTLE CONTROL AWAY FROM THE DRIVER AND STEER THE CAR. THE "POWER STEERING" WARNING LIGHT IN THE DRIVER ALERT CONSOLE CAME ON ALONG WITH THE CHIME TO ALERT THE DRIVER OF AN EVENT. THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF CLUNKING AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED BACK AND FORTH AS WELL AS WHEN THE WHEELS, DURING THE NORMAL COURSE OF DRIVING, APPLY FORCE AGAINST THE STEERING SYSTEM. THE POWER STEERING IS APPLYING FORCE TO COUNTER IT, AS IT SHOULD, BUT IT SHOULD NOT BE MAKING ALL THE NOISE THAT IT IS. THE CLUNK ARISES WHEN THE DIRECTION CHANGES AND IS MOST NOTICEABLE UNDER SLIGHT MOVEMENTS, NOT DURING A TURN. THE RACK-AND-PINION, TIE RODS, STRUTS, LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS ARE ALL IN GREAT SHAPE SO IT IS NOT WORN STEERING GEAR, IT IS BEFORE THE RACK-AND-PINION. THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WILL APPLY ENOUGH FORCE THAT IT WILL MAKE THE CAR CHANGE LANES IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT QUICKLY REACT TO IT AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT THE INVOLUNTARY LANE CHANGE.
