VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED THE LIGHTS GO OUT. THE PROBLEM IS VERY CONSISTENT IT HAPPENS DAILY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE HAS ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A CURRENT INVESTIGATION BY YOUR AGENCY AT THIS TIME. PLEASE HELP! *JS
I STARTED SMELLING VERY STRONG GAS FUMES WHEN I WAS DRIVING, ALSO WHEN CAR WAS PARKED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID MY CARS FUEL PUMP IS CRACKED AND THE GAS IS EVAPORATING ONTO MY EXHAUST MAKING MY CAR DANGEROUS. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON THE G5 MODEL FOR THE SAME REASON BUT NOT ON THE G6. I AM A SINGLE MOM AND CAN NOT AFFORD THE ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED WHILE I WAIT FOR GM TO FIND THAT THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS IN THE G6 MODELS. THE CAR MAKES MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER SICK FROM FUMES THAT ARE COMING FROM THE BACK SEAT AREA. PLEASE HELP. *TR

VEHICLE MAKES A CONSTANT POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING, BRAKING, OR ACCELERATING. SOMETIMES THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS WHEN TRYING TO TURN IT. UNDERNEATH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD IT FEELS LIKE THE BOTTOM THE CAR IS FALLING OFF. THE BRAKES SQUEAK SO BAD. I HAVE TAKEN TO THREE SHOPS AND EVERYONE HEARS THE NOISE BUT CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. SOMETIMES WHEN I GET IN THE CAR THE AIR IS ON FULL BLAST WITH NO KEYS EVEN IN THE IGNITION. PASSENGER HEADLAMP SOCKET KEEPS BURNING OUT. THIS HAPPENED ON MY OTHER 2008 G6. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR
THIS CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS AND NONE OF THEM CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG BUT THEY HEAR THE PROBLEMS. THE STEERING MAKES A CONSTANT POPPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING OR TURNING THE WHEEL, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE, THE BRAKES SQUEAK, AND UNDERNEATH IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR IS GOING TO FALL OUT. IT'S PRETTY SAD WHEN YOU TAKE THIS CAR TO DIFFERENT PROFESSIONALS AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR BUT THEY CLEARLY SEE THERE IS A PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. WHO WANTS TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON A CAR WITH NUMEROUS ISSUES THAT CAN'T BE FIXED.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WIPER CONTROL ARM WAS FRACTURED. A DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ORDER THE PARTS NEEDED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ALSO STATED THAT THE PART COULD NOT BE ORDERED BUT THEY WOULD GIVE HER INFORMATION TO A SPECIALIZED DEPARTMENT THAT WOULD CONTACT HER WITHIN 48 HOURS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE BRAKE LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE REPLACED THE BULB AND CHECKED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, IT STILL PERSISTS. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE CAR KEPT TURNING, I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AS IT WAS LOCKED. THE CAR SLAMMED INTO A TREE DAMAGING THE FRONT END ALONG WITH THE WHEEL RIM. THE CAN WAS TOWED AND DIAGNOSED AS STEER GEAR/RACKET PINION STEERING LOCKED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 AND REALIZED THAT THERE IS A TIGHT STEERING SITUATION AND A THUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END WHEN STEERING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. IT CAUSES LOCKED STEERING, VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND PEOPLE HAVE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO ACCIDENTS AND SEVERAL HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENTS. AFTER READING ABOUT ALL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS FROM SEVERAL HUNDRED IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PART. ESPECIALLY WHEN PEOPLE ARE PUT IN A HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS FROM THIS PART BEING FAULTY. TYPE IN PONTIAC G6 STEERING PROBLEMS ON "GOOGLE" AND SEE THE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS AND EVERYONE OF THEM IS THE SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE SEVERAL DIFFERENT SITES ALL WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTIONED, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP ALSO ILLUMINATED AND THE DIGITAL DISPLAY SHOWED A POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. MY CAR'S STEERING GOTTEN FROZEN, LOCK UP, CAN NOT STEER TO AN DIRECTIONS. IT HAPPENED AGAIN EARLY THIS MONTH AGAIN ON HIGHWAY. CANNOT FIND ANY RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DECK CENTER BRAKE LIGHT FAILED. THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS POWERED OFF. THE CONTACT HAD TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES TO DISENGAGE THE BRAKE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,200.
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON...WILL STAY ON AND THEN SWITCH OFF. WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN SEAT IT STATES AIR BAG IS OFF.I AM HEARING TONS OF REPORTS OF 2008 G6 WITH SAME FAULTY AIR BAG SENSOR/MODULES/HARNESS SYSTEMS. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE THE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ALOT OF PEOPLE WILL BE SERIOUSLY HURT IF THESE AIRBAGS SHUT OFF WITH PASSENGERS IN THE SEAT. PLEASE RECALL THESE CARS! DEALERSHIPS ARE GIVING CUSTOMERS THE RUN AROUND WITH THESE ISSUES AND PEOPLE ARE PAYING 1000S OF DOLLARS TO HAVE FIXED AND ALOT OF TIMES AFTER REPLACING THE SEAT SENSOR OR THE MODULE THE LIGHT STILL STAYS ON AND AIR BAGS AREN'T GOING TO WORK PROPERLY IN A CRASH. *TR
THIS IS A 4-DOOR VEHICLE DESIGNED WITH ONLY ONE EXTERIOR KEYED DOOR LOCK AT THE DRIVERS DOOR, HAS ELECTRIC DOOR ACTUATORS THAT ARE OPERATED INDIVIDUALLY AT EACH DOOR WITH A MASTER CONTROL AT THE DRIVERS DOOR FOR "ALL DOORS UNLOCKED OR LOCKED" + MANUAL LOCK KNOBS ON EACH DOOR. BOTH REAR DOORS ARE LOCKING/UNLOCKING ERRATICALLY FROM THE DRIVER SEAT MASTER CONTROL. SOMETIMES THE PASSENGER DOOR WON'T UNLOCK OR LOCK AND OTHER TIMES THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WON'T WORK. THE RESULT IS YOU CAN'T UNLOCK THE BACK SEAT DOOR(S) AND WOULD NEED TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW FOR THE LOCKED DOOR FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT MASTER WINDOW CONTROL AND REACH IN FROM THE EXTERIOR TO UNLOCK/LOCK THE INTERIOR DOOR LOCK KNOB MANUALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE OR CRAWL INTO THE BACK SEAT TO OPERATE THE LOCK KNOB MANUALLY. IF THE WINDOW CONTROL GOES BAD THE ONLY OPTION WOULD BE CRAWLING INTO THE BACK SEAT TO MANUALLY OPERATE LOCK KNOB. DOESN'T SOUND THAT BAD UNTIL YOU CONSIDER DRIVERS NEW TO THIS PROBLEM, AN ELDERLY, INVALID OR BABY IN THE BACK SEAT/CAR SEAT CAN'T BE ACCESSED WITHOUT A DELAYS. SINCE THE BACK DOORS DON'T LOCK CONSISTENTLY YOU HAVE TO GO TO EACH DOOR IF IT DOESN'T LOCK AND LOCK IT MANUALLY AT THE LOCK KNOB WHICH MEANS IT PROBABLY WON'T UNLOCK LATER WITHOUT USING THE MANUAL KNOB THROUGH THE WINDOW FROM THE EXTERIOR OR CRAWLING INTO THE BACK SEAT, I'M NOT A SAFETY EXPERT BUT IT SEEMS LIKE ITS ALWAYS BEEN A GOOD PRACTICE TO SHUT AND THEN LOCK ALL THE DOORS WHEN DRIVING, DOESN'T THAT ADD A SAFETY FUNCTION TO THE LOCK MECHANISM? THE MECHANISM ISN'T RELIABLE ON THIS VEHICLE, DOESN'T FUNCTION AS DESIGNED OR HAVE A BACKUP KEYED LOCK AT EACH DOOR FOR EMERGENCIES. I ALSO FOUND AN '08 CHEVY EQUINOX OWNER THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. ON THE INTERNET THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH EVEN A HIGHLY TECHNICAL U-TUBE VIDEO ON HOW TO MAKE THE REPAIR. AND NO END TO SUPPLIERS OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR PARTS. *TR
AS DRIVER APPROACHED A 2 LANE CONSTRUCTION ZONE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT. DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO CONTAIN VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC LANE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT RESPONSIVE. AT SOME POINT THE POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE MODULE REACTIVATED BUT ONLY MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE CONCRETE BARRIERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE HIGHWAY RESULTING IN HEAVY FRONT-END PASSENGER SIDE DAMAGE AND CONTACT DAMAGE TO ALL CORNERS OF THE VEHICLE. DESPITE TRAVELING BOTH BACK AND FORTH ACROSS TWO LANES SEVERAL TIMES AND MAKING CONTACT WITH THE BARRIERS EACH TIME, NEITHER FRONT AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DRIVER'S HEAD CAME IN CONTACT WITH HIS SIDE WINDOW CAUSING TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS. PASSENGER'S AIR BAG COVER WAS KNOCKED ASKEW BUT AS NOTED DID NOT ACTIVATE. EMT'S ADMINISTERED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AT THE SCENE, BUT DID NOT TRANSPORT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM SCENE AND SUBSEQUENTLY JUDGED "TOTALED". I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE EXACTLY ONE WEEK AND 5 HOURS BEFORE THIS EVENT. NOTICE I DO NOT CALL IT AN ACCIDENT: THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS FROM THIS MODEL AND YEAR SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OUR ROADS IMMEDIATELY. MANUFACTURER HAS A "SERVICE BULLETIN" OUT ON THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST'. THEY REFER TO IT AS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT. SEE SB-10183 *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING ISSUES. MY POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS AND A COUPLE OF TIMES THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT. IF I TURN OFF AND THEN RESTART THE CAR, IT HAS BEEN WORKING, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY GO OUT WHEN I'M DRIVING. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SPORADICALLY SHAKE, BECOME ROUGH OR WOULD VEER TO THE RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO THEN ADVISED THAT THERE WERE EXTENSIVE REPAIRS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE EXACT REPAIRS WERE NOT MENTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53900.
THE CAR'S BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH RANDOMLY ACTIVATES AND CAUSES THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL TO TURN OFF. IF YOU TAP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE SWITCH MAY WORK CORRECTLY FOR A FEW SECONDS OR HOURS UNTIL IT FAILS AGAIN. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR BEHIND ME WILL NOT SEE MY BRAKE LIGHTS ACTIVATE WHEN I TRY TO STOP MY CAR BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ALREADY ILLUMINATED BEFORE I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THUS, IT IS LIKELY I WILL GET REAR-ENDED OR AT LEAST CURSED BY THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE THAT IS FOLLOWING ME. THIS IS ALSO A NUISANCE BECAUSE I CANNOT USE MY CRUISE CONTROL ON MANY OCCASIONS AND IT PREMATURELY WEARS OUT MY BRAKE LAMPS. *TR
VEHICLE HEADLAMPS FAIL REGULARLY EVERY (1-2 MONTHS). IT APPEARS THERE IS A POWER FLUCTUATION JUST BEFORE THE LIGHTS FAIL. *JS
I WAS PULLING OUT OF GAS STATION AND MY LIGHTS WOULDNT TURN ON. THEN I GOT TBONED BECAUSE THE STIPID LIGHT. I PAID 250 FOR INSUR. TO FIX VEHICLE. NOW THE LIGHTS WORK EXCEPT THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT, AND THE HARNESS CONNECTOR TO THE LIGHT BULB KEEPS MELTING & BURNING OUT THE HEADLIGHT. I SPENT OVER 100 IN REPLACEMENT BULBS & CONNECTORS NOT INCL. THE LABOR. IVE HEARD OTHER G6 OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES!!
ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON MY PONTIAC G6. WE REPLACED IT AND NOT IT HAS WENT OUT AGAIN. CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY IT KEEPS GOING OUT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR REPAIR SHOP FOR AN INSPECTION. THE CONTACT MADE THE REPAIR AND REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY SYSTEM. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS GOING OUT OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS ON MY 2008 PONTIAC G6. I REPLACED THE BULBS 3 TIMES ONLY TO HAVE THEM GO OUT AGAIN AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS, RESULTING IN NO LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS.I CALLED GM WHO NOTIFIED ME THERE WAS NO RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND I NEEDED TO HAVE A DIAGNOSIS PERFORMED BY A GM DEALERSHIP BEFORE THEY WOULD EVALUATE THE SITUATION. I WAS TOLD BY SAUERS DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE LOW BEAM CONNECTORS MELTING AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CONNECTORS AND BULBS REPLACED. I INFORMED GM OF THIS WHO THEN CALLED THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THIS WAS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH THIS REPAIR COST. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND AM CONCERNED THAT GM IS NOT RECALLING FOR THIS ISSUE. I HAVE MADE A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS TO HAVE GM REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR COSTS OF $305.08 BUT THEY REFUSE AND NOW WILL NOT RESPOND TO ME. *TR
WHEN REPLACING A HEAD LAMP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS BURNT PLASTIC ON THE CONNECTOR. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS IS GOING TO HEAT UP TO A POINT AND CAUSE A FIRE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL AND SHAKE. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT TURNED ON MY RADIO DISPLAY AND THEN IT BECAME REALLY HARD TO STEER. THE WHEEL SHAKES EVEN WHEN IN A STOPPED POSITION AND GETS WORSE WHEN TRIES TO TURN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS RECALLS FOR THE EARLIER MODULES BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEY OFFER NO ASSISTANCE TO FIX EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND NOT DRIVABLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND MY POWER STEERING JUST LOCKED UP ON ME ALL OF SUDDEN AND COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE WAS STUCK IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND 5 MINUTES LATER I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE STEERING WORKED AGAIN.THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY KEEPS LOCKING UP I DON'T UNDERSTAND SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THIS SAME MODEL WHY IS NOT COVERED OR RECALLED DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND YOUR STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP ON YOU IT'S DEFINITELY NOT SAFE AND CARS HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID ME. *TR
THERE ARE A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS ON STEERING FOR THIS MODEL, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THESE CARS LOOSE STEERING AND CAN GO OUT OF CONTROL. MY 2008 G6 PONTIAC IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ITS STEERING WHEEL. ITS LIKE IT HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN, IT SHAKES OUT OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING, MY WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN AND SOMETIMES JERKS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GASOLINE FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS VERIFIED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
WHENEVER I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT, I HEAR A KNOCKING COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE KNOCKING IS EVEN MORE PERSISTENT WHEN I TURN LEFT. ALSO, WHEN I TURN LEFT, I HEAR A NOISE COME FROM MY LEFT-FRONT AREA... IT'S ALMOST LIKE THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE RACK. *TR

I NOTICE MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS OUT SO I BOUGHT A COUPLE NEW BULBS TO REPLACE BOTH LIGHTS. AFTER I OPENED EVERYTHING UP I NOTICE THE WHOLE INSIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT WAS BURNED AND MELTED. I'VE BEEN LOOKING INTO THIS AND IT SEEMS MANY, MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR TO WILKINS BUICK JANUARY TO BE FIXED, THEY TOOK IT IN DID THE WORK IN 30 MINUTES GAVE ME BACK MY CAR . THE POWER STEERING WARNING CHIME BEGAN TO SOUND AS THE RADIO SCREEN DISPLAYED A POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FUNCTION BECAME OPERABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,360.
I PURCHASED MY USED 2008 PONTIAC G6 IN NOVEMBER 2008 WITH 12,576 MILES ON IT. I DON'T USE THE CAR MUCH AND JUST REACHED 26,500 MILES ON 01/16/13. SINCE MID-DECEMBER 2012 I BEGAN TO HEAR AND FEEL A CLICKING/CLUNKING WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. AT TIMES THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO FELT STIFFER. YESTERDAY I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GM DEALER/REPAIR SHOP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND HAD TO HAVE MY INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT REPLACED AT A TOTAL COST OF $416.04. I'VE NOW READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS BEING A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2008 PONTIAC G6S AND GM CARS IN GENERAL. I'M NOW VERY CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM WILL RECUR IN THE FUTURE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS MY 3RD PONTIAC AND MY FIRST ONE (A PONTIAC 6000) HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE RACK AND PINION AND BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR

I'VE BEEN DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY AND THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT COULD BE ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN GOES OFF.

MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN THE SAFETY RECALL 12106. I FOUND THIS INFORMATION OUT VIA INTERNET PRIOR TO THE RECALL TAKING AFFECT BY GM. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE SERVICE DEPT AFTER BEING STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND HAVING MY CAR TOWED THEY STATED IT WAS JUST A BAD BATTERY AND NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION CABLE AND RELEASED MY CAR TO MY FATHER WHO IS NOT THE LEGAL OWNER, NEVER EVEN SPOKE TO ME. THE NEXT DAY I WAS STRANDED AGAIN WITH MY SMALL CHILDREN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS IN THE COLD. HAD MY CAR TOWED AGAIN TO THE SERVICE DEPT WHERE THEY FINALLY LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION CABLE. ARGUED WITH ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL ALTHOUGH I KNEW IT WAS. I PAID FOR IT TO BE FIXED $467.41. THEY RELEASED MY VEHICLE TO ME SEVERAL DAYS LATER AS THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANYONE FOR A FEW DAYS TO LOOK AT THE CAR. RELEASED THE FIRST TIME UNFIXED AND UNSAFE AND NOT EVEN TO THE LEGAL OWNER WHICH IS A HUGE LIABILITY. I TOOK MY CAR TO LES SWAB AND PAID OVER $100 FOR A NEW BATTERY THAT WASN'T NEEDED ONLY TO BE STRANDED AGAIN THE VERY NEXT DAY. WHEN WE TOOK MY CAR IN THE FIRST TIME WE TOLD THEM WHAT WAS WRONG DUE TO THE RECALL I FOUND ONLINE AND THEY NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION CABLE PER THE SERVICE MANAGER. THIS WHOLE PROCESS TOOK ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF. THEY DID PROVIDE ME A RENTAL CAR FOR 3 DAYS WHICH THEY COVERED. THIS WAS A VERY STRESSFUL SITUATION AND NO ONE BELIEVED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. RECALLS SHOULD REALLY BE PUT OUT ASAP AS I HAPPENED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO THE RELEASE DATE OF THE RECALL. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I SHOULD CONSULT WITH A LAWYER FOR RELEASING MY CAR UNFIXED, UNSAFE AND NOT TO THE LEGAL OWNER.
