LEFT FRONT CONTROL ARM BECAME VERY LOOSE AND MUST BE REPLACED. OWNER WAS NOT AWARE OF DANGEROUS PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY, IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY MECHANIC DURING OIL CHANGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE CONTINUOUSLY BURNING OUT DUE TO THE BULB BECOMING OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONNECTOR BURNED AND AS A RESULT, THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,599. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE CRUISE CONTROL ALSO DISENGAGED WHENEVER THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE AUTO SHOP MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE MECHANIC STATED THE BRAKE SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
MY BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP STAYING ON EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT PRESSED. WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR PONTIAC G6S. BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR TO GET IT FIXED THEY JUST KEEP REPLACING THE SWITCH BUT NOW THEY SAY SOMETHING ELSE IS WRONG WIRES CORRODED. THE 2005 G6 HAD RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT MY 2009 G6 IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, SAME CAR DIFFERENT YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR INDEPENDENTLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALSO REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO BURNING OUT PREMATURELY. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MERGE OVER TO AN EMERGENCY LANE AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE BUT DECIDED REPLACED THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FOR TWO YEARS NOW, MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS CONTINUE TO GO OUT. THE FIRST TIME I HAD THIS CHANGED, THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THIS WAS A "NORMAL" OCCURRENCE WITH THESE TYPE OF CARS AND HE HAD SEEN THIS A LOT. HE TOLD ME THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THE WIRING THAT MAKE THE LIGHT GO OUT. IN 2014 WHEN I HAD IT CHANGED, THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT SOMETHING WAS CAUSING IT TO MELT AND ACTUALLY SHOWED ME THE BLACK MELTED TAR IN THE BACK OF THE LIGHT. I HAD THE LIGHT REPLACED TWO MONTHS AGO AND I ANTICIPATE IT TO GO OUT AGAIN ANYTIME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR NIGHT TIME DRIVING AND I AM ON THE ROAD TRAVELING EVERY WEEKEND. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, WHEN I WENT TO TURN THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. TOOK TO A GARAGE, CODE C0545 WAS FOUND, GARAGE RE-CALIBRATED THE SYSTEM. THEN ON 2/4/2012 THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY AGAIN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN AROUND. THE WHEEL IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN, AND VIBRATES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL ON STRAIGHT ROAD HAS PLAY IN IT ALSO ONCE THE POWER STEERING IS GONE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SCARY SITUATION, AND MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR PERIODICALLY. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE SHIFT CONTROL CABLE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:09V073000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,315 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,400.
WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING EITHER ONE HEADLIGHT WILL GO OUT AND THEN COME BACK ON. THEN THE OPPOSITE HEADLIGHT WILL GO OUT AND THEN COMEBACK ON. THEN SOMETIMES BOTH HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. I'VE HAD PEOPLE FLASH THEIR LIGHTS AT ME THINKING I AM HIGH BEAMING THEM WHEN ONE OF MY HEADLIGHTS TURN BACK ON. I ALSO HAD A SPUN BEARING IN THE BOTTOM END OF THE ENGINE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. I ALSO HAD MY VEHICLE STALL FOR NO REASON AT ALL. HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT HE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT MAYBE IT WAS THE BATTERY AND REPLACED IT. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO WHERE IT CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHT TO COME ON AND STAY ON. I'VE HAD THE DOOR SENSORS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUE WITH THE DOOR AJAR FOR A LITTLE WHILE NOW. I'VE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH BEARINGS LOCKING UP IN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT THAT CAUSED A SEVERE BURNING SMELL AND CAUSED THE CAR TO NOT WANT TO START. THEREFORE I BELIEVE THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR CAUSING ALL OF THESE ISSUES. *TR
VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 50000. SINCE APPROXIMATELY 35000 MILES, THE LUGS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HAVE CAME LOOSE, FOR NO APPARENT REASON CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE AT AROUND 25MPH. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN, LIKE IN A DRIVE THROUGH OR DRIVEWAY. SINCE OCTOBER THERE HAS BEEN 3 SEPARATE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
WHILE FOLLOWING MY WIFE IN OUR 2009 G6 I NOTICED THAT SHE WAS RIDDING THE BRAKES. WHEN I ASKED HER WHY SHE SAID SHE WASN'T USING THE BRAKES AT ALL. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON AND STAYING ON EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE WAS REPLACED. ON NOVEMBER 16, 2012, THE SIMILAR FAILURE RECURRED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA 09V073000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: LEVER AND LINKAGE: COLUMN SHIFT); HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
2009 PONTIAC G6 GT 3.5L V6 - ON 09/23/11 WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO PARK, THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL IN DRIVE POSITION. THE SHIFTER HANDLE WAS LOOSE AND WOULD NOT LOCK INTO P, R, N, D. TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND COULD REMOVE KEYS BUT WHEN I TRIED TO CRANK THE CAR AGAIN IT WOULDN'T CRANK. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS BROKEN. HAD THE CABLE REPLACED ALONG WITH A NEW BRACKET. ON 07/24/12 (83600 MILES) I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN!! I CALLED THE SAME DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A 12 MONTH OR 12000 MILE WARRANTY ON PARTS AND LABOR BUT UNFORTUNATELY I HAD ALREADY DRIVEN 22000 MILES IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS. DEALER SAID THEY COULD CHECK MY CAR ON DIAGNOSTICS TO TELL ME WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM FOR $90 PER HOUR. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEM TO TELL ME JUST WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I SEARCHED 2009 RECALLS AND FOUND ONE FOR MY CAR, SAYING THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE CLIP MAY NOT BE IN PLACE AND THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN DRIVE WHILE THE SHIFTER IS IN PARK. SOMETIMES MY SHIFTER HAD A LITTLE DIFFICULTY TO GET OUT OF PARK POSITION, LIKE IT WAS LOCKED UP. SO WHAT IN THE WORLD IS CAUSING MY SHIFTER CABLE TO BREAK TWICE IN A 10 MONTH PERIOD?? IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME?? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT WAS REPLACED SEVEN TIMES WITHIN AN EIGHT MONTH PERIOD. THE CONTACT STARTED WAS UNSURE IF THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BULB OR THE CONNECTION. THE CONTACT REMOVED THE LIGHT BULB FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND INSTALLED IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH NO FAILURES. THE CONTACT CONSULTED WITH THEIR PERSONAL MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE PIG TAIL FOR THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
WHILE DRIVING, CRUISE CONTROL WILL DISENGAGE AND BRAKE LIGHTS WILL FLAIR ON. THAN WHEN TAP BRAKES, BRAKE LIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF. WITHIN A COUPLE SECONDS, THEY WILL TURN BACK ON. WHEN ACTUALLY GOING TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES, HAVE NO BRAKE LIGHTS THAN. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITHOUT USING CRUISE CONTROL, JUST DRIVING IN GENERAL. BREAK LIGHTS WILL COME ON, THAN WHEN PRESS ON THE BRAKE, THEY SHUT OFF. COUPLE SECONDS LATER, COME BACK ON. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME(OR DURING THE DAYTIME), NOT HAVING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN STOPPING. DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. DRIVER SIDE LOW-BEAM BURNED OUT.. I CHANGED IT.. TWO (2) DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WAS OUT AGAIN.. I CHANGED THE BULB AGAIN AND NOTICED THE PLUG-IN WHERE THE BULB GETS PLUGGED INTO LOOKED LIKE IT SHORTED OUT THERE.. IT WAS BURNED.. I PUT THE NEW BULB IN AND TWO TO THREE DAYS LATER, IT WAS OUT AGAIN.. BOTH TIMES THE BULBS DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE BURNED OUT... I AM TIRED OF TAKING THE HEADLIGHT OFF OF THE CAR TO CHANGE THE BULBS.. I OWN A 2009 PONTIAC G6. IN AUGUST OF 2011, MY LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO WORK ONLY INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL IT NO LONGER WOULD ILLUMINATE. I REPLACED THE BULB IN THE HEADLIGHT, AND IT WAS BACK TO WORKING AS IT SHOULD. A MATTER OF SIX OR SO MONTHS WENT BY AND THE RIGHT LIGHT BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM UNTIL IT WENT OUT. I REPLACED IT AS WELL, HOWEVER, WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEM OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED, ALTHOUGH INTERNET RESEARCH SEEMS TO SHOW A PROBLEM WITH THE CONNECTOR. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE LOW BEAM LIGHT WILL GO OUT. THE VEHICLE WILL BE FINE AND THEN THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL GO DIM OR EVEN GO OUT WHEN DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. PROBLEM STARTED IN MAY OF 2012. I SEE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER AND BCM MODULE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY CAR ARE ON SPORADICALLY. THEY COME ON WHEN THE BRAKE IS NOT PRESSED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE EITHER. I HAVE A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT I THOUGHT IT WAS A GEM AFTER A FEW MONTHS MY HEAD LIGHTS WOULD BURN OUT A FEW TIMES A MONTH. AFTER REPLACING THEM I NOTICED THE ACTUAL WIRING WAS MELTED. MY PASSENGER REAR DOOR WON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A STORM MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. MY WIPER FLUID WON'T COME OUT ONLY MAKES THE SOUND. MY POWER STEERING WILL TURN OFF RANDOMLY. STOCK RADIO STOPPED WORKING. NOW MY BREAK LIGHTS ARE ACTING UP AND WON'T LIGHT. MY SHIFTER ALSO HAS BEEN ACTING STRANGE. SOMETIMES IT WON'T SHIFT. BLINKERS BLEW OUT SAME TIME AS BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS CAR IS NOTHING BUT A HAZARD. *TR
WAS STOPPED BY THE POLICE STATING I HAD NO TAILLIGHTS. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUSE WAS BLOWN AND REPLACED. WITHIN ABOUT 3 WEEKS THE FUSE BLEW AGAIN. HAD IT IN TWICE SINCE AND THEY STILL CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. KEEP IT A FEW DAYS AND RESEND THE CAR OUT. I HAVE CHECKED IT OUT AND IT SEEMS THAT WHEN IT BLOWS IT IS IN AUTO MODE AND WHEN AUTO LIGHTS COME ON. THEY SAID NO CONNECTION AND LEAVE IT AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY IF WE LOSE TAILLIGHTS AT NIGHT WE COULD BE REAR ENDED. ALSO I AM ON MY THIRD SET OF HEADLIGHTS. KEEP BLOWING OUT. AND SECOND SET OF TIRES. *TR
I HAVE A 2009 PONTIIAC G6. THE FRONT ROTORS WARP AND THE WHOLE FRONT END SHAKES. I HAD THEM CUT A COUPLE TIMES AND I ONLY GOT ABOUT 8000 MILES BEFORE THEY WARP AGAIN. SO I BOUGHT NEW ROTORS AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.SO ITS NOT THE ROTORS ITS THE WAY THE CAR IS BUILT. *TT
THE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, COULD NOT REPLACE IT, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER FIXED IT ABOUT A $180.00. HEADLAMPS & TAILLIGHTS BURN OUT EVERY FEW MONTHS. TECHNICIAN AT GM DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS OCCURRING IN NUMEROUS GM VEHICLES. IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAUSES THE BULBS TO BURN OUT. SINCE IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT SENDS TOO MUCH POWER AND CAUSES BURNING WIRES, I AM AFRAID THIS WILL EVENTUALLY START A FIRE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SWITCH THESE BULBS OUT CONSTANTLY. I PURCHASED A 2009 PONTIAC G6 IN DEC 2009. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ITS FIRST OIL CHANGE (@3000 MILES), A FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED COMING FROM THE REAR WHEEL AREA. THIS SMELL WAS MENTIONED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE OWNER WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT IT WAS A 'SHOP SPILL' AND NOT FROM THE CAR. ON OTHER OCCASIONS A FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED BY THE OWNER, BUT THEY WERE DISMISSED AS FLUKES. RECENTLY, (06/13) A VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR BEGAN COMING FROM THE REAR WHEEL AREA OF THE CAR. THE HOTTER WEATHER SEEMED TO MAKE THE PROBLEM MORE NOTICEABLE. RESEARCH WAS DONE ON VARIOUS BLOGS AND FORUMS, AND THE OWNER DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY A CRACKED FUEL LINE OR FUEL RETURN LINE ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND THAT THE DEALERS CHARGE $800 OR MORE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE G6 SINCE THE 2006 MODEL AND AS YET, GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT DONE THE "RIGHT THING" AND ISSUED A RECALL. IF MY VEHICLE WAS MUCH OLDER OR HAD A LOT OF MILES ON IT, I MIGHT FEEL BETTER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING, BUT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT, AND IS ONLY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD. I HOPE THAT NO ONE DIES FROM THIS DESIGN/MANUFACTURING DEFECT BEFORE GENERAL MOTORS TAKES APPROPRIATE ACTION AND RECALLS THESE VEHICLES.
