2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX- - CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AT 66,300 MILES. PUT IN SHOP BECAUSE GM WOULD NOT STAND BY THEIR EXTENDED EMISSIONS COMPONENT WARRANTY. MY COST $690.00 CAR IS PURE JUNK. AFTER THE PURCHASE OF MY GRAND PRIX FROM MAC HAIK IN TEMPLE TEXAS THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HAVE SOME PROBLEMS. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO MAC HAIK WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED OR REPLACED. AFTER ONLY 3 YEARS AND HAVING ONLY LESS THAN 1,000.00 LEFT TO PAY THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AGAIN! NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED I JUST HAVE HAD ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AND AM FRUSTRATED WITH THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FOR THE 2ND TIME. *TR
I HAVE A COMPLAIN ON MY 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX V6, WE HAVE CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP, BELTS, HOSES, ETC, ANYTHING U CAN THINK OF WE'VE DONE IT. HOWEVER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS LEAKING APPARENTLY THE GASKETS ARE CRACKED, WELL I'VE READ ONLINE THAT A LOT OF THESE CARS HAVE THIS ISSUE AND ITS A VERY COSTLY PRICE TO FIX, WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL BY PONTIAC FOR THE PROBLEM IT IS EXTREMELY RIDICULOUS. *TR
A MONTH PRIOR TO THE FIRE MY CAR SMELLED LIKE THERE WAS SOME KIND OF LEAK. SMELLED LIKE GAS. ON FEBRUARY 10TH, 2008 MY 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS TOTALED. I FOUND THIS SUMMARY ON A LOCAL WEBSITE, "SUMMARY: CERTAIN DELPHI FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORS, P/NOS. FP10020-11B1, FP10026-11B1, AND FP10027-11B1, SOLD AFTER JANUARY 9, 2007, AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE UNIVERSAL PRESSURE REGULATORS (UPR) WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT AN O'RING AND RETAINER. CONSEQUENCES: FUEL MAY LEAK, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE." I AM PRETTY SURE THAT I AM A VICTIM OF THIS O'RING FAILURE. I AM WITHOUT A CAR AND $2,000 IN THE DEBUT BECAUSE OF THIS FIRE. I WOULD LIKE SOME ANSWERS AND SOME RESULTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT DETECTED SMOKE AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR APPROXIMATELY TWENTY MINUTES. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WERE DESTROYED. THE KITCHEN WAS ALSO DESTROYED AND SMOKE FILLED THE HOUSE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. NHTSA CLOSED INVESTIGATION NUMBER PE07006 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WAS REFERENCED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 75,000. UPDATED 03/26/08. *LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE LINER PANEL ABOVE THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD SAGGED MAKING CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A DEALER WHERE BOTH WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
BURNING SMELL WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES BUT ALWAYS WHEN STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND PARK IN THE FRONT PART (ENGINE). ALSO SMOKE. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO REVERSE FROM DRIVE WHILE GOING 40-50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. IT DID THIS ON ITS OWN. LOST POWER AND BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER STOPPING I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTART IT. THE CAR TOOK OFF IN DRIVE AND HAS BEEN FINE SO FAR. I WAS JUST LUCKY THAT THE WAS ENOUGH MOVEMENT FROM THE CAR MASS TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK AND PAYING FOR GAS, I CAME OUT TO MY VEHICLE AND AFTER STARTING IT SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE HOOD! I LIFT THE HOOD TO INVESTIGATE AND THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. (THERE IS A REPORT ON FILE WITH THE FAIRFIEL TOWNSHIP POLICE AND FIRE DEPTS.) WALKER PONTIAC IN DAYTON OHIO REPLACED THE ENGINE, I HAVE SINCE RECEIVED A LETTER NOTING THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL TO DATE. I HAVE BEEN WARNED NOT TO PARK IN THE GARAGE AS THIS CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM AND THERE HAS BEEN AN INCIDENT OF HOME FIRE WITH INJURIES, DUE TO THE VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE IN THE GARAGE!!! *TR
I HAVE A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX SE. IT IS A 4 DOOR. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD GASKETS TWICE WITH IN 9 MONTHS. I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY HEAT. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THAT MY GASKETS WERE LEAKING. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD RUN ME AROUND $900. THE PARTS WERE ABOUT $76. THE LABOR WAS THE MAJORITY OF IT. I WAS THEN TOLD I HAD TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND THERMOSTAT. THIS HAD CAUSED MY THERMOSTAT TO GO OUT. I HAD IT REPLACED. ABOUT 9 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. NO HEAT AND ECT. TOOK IT TO THE SAME MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT SHOULD'VE LASTED LONGER. HE CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WAS NOT. GM ONLY GUARANTEED THIS JOB FOR 6 MONTHS. I AGAIN HAD TO REPLACE THE GASKETS. GM HAD PUT IN PLASTIC GASKETS INSTEAD OF METAL GASKETS. I AGAIN HAD TO PAY ADDITIONAL $800. I CHECKED ON THE RECALLS FOR THIS AND THERE WEREN'T ANY. I ALSO GOOGLED THIS COMPLAINT AND HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME THING GO ON WITH THEIR VEHICLES. MY FAMILY HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GM FAMILY, BUT WE HAVE NOW ELSEWHERE. MY BROTHER IS A SALESMAN AND HE SAYS THAT GM PRODUCTS ARE THE FIRST TO GO AND THEY WEAR OUT THE EASIEST. PRETTY SAD WHEN A SALESMAN YOU KNOW DOESN'T ENJOY SELLING GM PRODUCTS. ANYWAY, MY POINT IS THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF AND GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT. THEY ARE LOSING ENOUGH BUSINESS THE WAY IT IS. I THINK THEY NEED TO MAN UP AND STAND UP TO THEIR DEFECTS. I WORK IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY AND I CAN TELL YOU THIS, GM PRODUCTS ARE NOT PURCHASED BY ANY OF THE COMPANIES, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE TO GO AN EVEN 80,000 MILES. *TR

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT EA07008 WAS THE EXACT FAILURE THAT OCCURRED TO HIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 98,000.
I HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM WITH THIS 2002 GRAND AM. FIRST THERMOSTAT WENT. HAD THERMOSTAT REPLACED -- CAR CONTINUED TO RUN HOT , LOSING POWER AND SHUT OFF.... HAVE REPLACED WATER PUMP, HOSES, AND INTAKE VALVE AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTED WITH CAR LOSING PRESSURE AND RUNNING HOT. ALSO HAD HEAD GASKETS REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.... THIS CAR HAS STOPPED ON ME 4 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY.... IN CHECKING OUT OTHER COMPLAINTS THERE SEEMS TO BE PROBLEM WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM.... WHAT CAN I DO TO HAVE THIS CAR REPAIRED -- CAN A RECALL BE ISSUED.... PROFESSIONALS ARE AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS???? *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN MY FAN SPEEDS STOPPED IN A DOWN POUR CAUSING MY WINDSHIELD TO FOG UP RAPIDLY & I COULDN'T SEE WHERE I WAS DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR
MY 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 40TH EDITION ENGINE COMPARTMENT STARTED ON FIRE ON 10/12/07 APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AFTER PARKING IT IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER SAID THE CAR WAS TOTALED. *TR
2002 GRAND PRIX GT LEAKS COOLANT AT UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 31,000 MILES. UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET FAILED THUS ALLOWING COOLANT TO LEAK INSIDE AND ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM FLUSHED FOR ANY CONTAMINANTS. GM TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE GASKET WAS REPLACED WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED GASKET. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY GENERAL MOTORS (NHTSA 10006144) AND THEIR SOLUTION IN 2003 WAS TO ADD COOLANT PELLETS AND TO CHANGE THE NUTS ON THROTTLE BODY. IN MY OPINION, IF THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE GASKET BEFORE THE RECALL, THE COOLANTS PELLETS WOULD HAVE ONLY PROLONGED THE TIME IT TOOK FOR THE GASKET TO TOTALLY FAIL. THUS FORCING THE CUSTOMER TO PAY TO FIX A KNOWN DEFECT SINCE THE CAR IS WAS NO LONGER UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. *JB
BOTH REAR TAIL LIGHTS FILLING WITH WATER. THIS HAS CAUSED ONE INSTANCE OF PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHTS TO MALFUNCTION. *TR

CAR'S ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND PARKED. THE CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
ROUTINELY EXPERIENCES IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS. KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHILE CAR IS STILL RUNNING AND FROM OTHER SWITCH POSITIONS. ONE TIME THE KEY WAS REMOVED IN THE ACCESSORIES POSITION BY MISTAKE, AND UNKNOWINGLY THE BATTERY DRAINED, REQUIRING A AAA SERVICE VISIT. THIS 2002 AUTO SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ON OTHER YEAR GRAND PRIX IGNITION SWITCHES AS IT IS UNSAFE. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. HAZARD SWITCH IS STUCK. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM RELATED TO THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH. IT APPEARS THAT GM IS WAITING FOR A FEW FATALITIES TO OCCUR BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION!!
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY FILLING WITH WATER. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE. COULD RESULT IN FAILURE OF REAR LIGHTS AND POSSIBLE ACCIDENT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND AM SE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER TURN SIGNAL WAS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY AND DISPLAYED NOTHING ON THE DASHBOARD. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN AT 5 MPH, THE TURN SIGNAL FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THIS FAILURE HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES AND THE TURN SIGNALS WERE REPLACED LAST FALL. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK AND CAN'T USE MY HAZARDS. I FOUND RECALLS FOR THIS SITUATION ON OTHER GM VEHICLES BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT THE 2002 GRAND PRIX. I HAVE COME ACROSS SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I'M SHOCKED THAT THIS WAS DEEMED NOT AN ISSUE. THIS IS WIDE SPREAD AND THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH IS NOT CHEAP. FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR STEERING TO THE RIGHT SIDE FROM TIME TO TIME AND I WAS NOT SURE WHAT THAT COULD BE. IT IS RANDOM. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS TO THE RIGHT AND I COULD NOT CONTROL IT. *TR

DEALERSHIP FOUND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT MECHANICAL WEAR LIMIT. BOTH WERE REPLACED, AS WELL AS TRANSMISSION MAIN SEALS FROM AGE/WEAR/LEAKAGE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT. ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THIS REPAIR, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AND NO ELECTRICAL WARNING OR LIGHTS WHILE BEING DRIVEN. BECAUSE RELATED OTHER PARTS WERE REPAIRED PREVIOSLY AND REPORTED DEFECTIVE VIA THIS SYSTEM ON ODI ID 10107847 AND 10148428 AND DURING THIS REPAIR REPORTED REPAIR TO PONTIAC, THE OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS WERE IN SPECIFICATION. ONE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT WAS AT THE MECHANICAL LIMIT DUE TO BAD LOCAL ROADS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE EDGE OF ROAD/POTHOLES AND PUBLIC UTILITY ACCESS PATCHES. WORN HUBS (FOR THE SECOND TIME HERE, LISTEN UP) ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION IF NEEDED. BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED, WE NOTICED THE FAILURES EITHER AUDIBLY (HUMMING) OR DURING STATE INSPECTION, OR BOTH, AND IN ALL CASES, THE REPAIR CONDITIONS WERE SET BY THE DEALERSHIP DURING THE INSPECTION PHASE. AT NO TIME DURING THE INSPECTION WERE APOLIGIES OFFERED, OR BETTER PARTS ENGINEERED, TO PREVENT THIS FROM RE-OCCURRING. JUST TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE, GOOD THING WE CAUGHT IT BEFORE WE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT (WE?) AND WE CANNOT OFFER A BETTER PART TO FIX THIS PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE MATERIALS USED TO PRODUCE AND INVESTIGATE MANUFACTURED ITEMS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH MATERIAL(S) ENGINEERING AND SPECIFICATION, AS WELL AS WEAR TESTING DATA THAT MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY REPORTED TO PRESENT A FAVORABLE OUTCOME OF TEST FAILURE ANAYLSIS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING MOTOR OIL. HE NOTICED OIL ON THE GROUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE REPLACED THE FRONT ROCKER COVER GASKET, BUT STATED THAT THE REAR GASKET WAS THE ONE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECENTLY RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FRONT GASKET. HE WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR REPLACING THE FRONT GASKET AND WOULD ALSO LIKE THE MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE THE REAR GASKET. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE COULD PLACE HIS HAND BEHIND THE ENGINE AND FIND OIL LEAKING. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V118000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WAS REFERENCED. 2002 PONTIAC GRAND AM GT WOULD NOT START DUE TO FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH (WHICH WAS ALREADY REPLACED A FEW YEARS AGO BY MY GM PONTIAC DEALER BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM). NEW IGNITION SWITCH MUST BE BOUGHT TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ONE.
ALL 4 POWER WINDOWS DO NOT OPERATE IN WARM TO HOT WEATHER. EACH WINDOW HAS IT'S OWN, DIFFERENT, UNIQUE, TEMPERATURE IN WHICH IT WILL NOT OPERATE INDEPENDENT OF THE OTHER WINDOWS. DRIVER'S WINDOWS STOPS OPERATING ABOVE 60, DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW STOPS OPERATING ABOVE 65, SHOTGUN WINDOW STOPS OPERATING ABOVE 85, AND SHOTGUN SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW STOPS WORKING ABOVE 80. ALL DEGREES ARE FARENHEIGHT. THIS IS A SAFETY FACTOR AT TOLLS, GOVERNMENT INSTALLATION FRONT GATES, MILITARY BASES, ETC. ALSO IS A GENERAL SAFETY ISSUE (FOGGING, BUGS, EMERGENCY EXITING).

BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO WORK WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED. THE HAZARD SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE PART COST $602.53 FROM THE DEALERSHIP. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS ADVISED BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THERE WAS A GASKET LEAK. THE GASKET WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,902. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED THE ANTIFREEZE CAUSED THE GASKET TO BE REPLACED THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,951.*AK UPDATED 04/12/07. *JB
MY WIFE AND I OWN A 2002 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP. ON THE EVENING OF 23 FEBRUARY 2007, MY WIFE WAS FOLLOWED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY BY A CHARLES COUNTY SHERIFF (MD). THE SHERIFF INFORMED MY WIFE THAT HE HAD FOLLOWED HER HOME TO LET HER KNOW THAT SHE HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. I CHECKED THE BULBS AND FUSES THE NEXT MORNING. THEY WERE ALL FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND THAT NUMEROUS OTHER PONTIAC GRAND PRIX AND GRAND AM OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. EVERYONE SEEMED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR HAZARD BLINKER SWITCH NOT WORKING BECAUSE IT BECAME STUCK (WHICH HAD ALSO OCCURRED TO ME ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR TO 23 FEB 2007). THEY ALL REPORTED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (WINEGARDNER PONTIAC/GM) AND EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE DEPT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH AND THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $450 FOR THE PART AND $200 FOR THE LABOR. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM. MY CAR ONLY HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT (JUST OUT OF WARRANTY) AND THAT IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED. I TOOK MY CAR TO AN AUTO SHOP ABOUT A WEEK LATER AND HAD IT REPLACED AT A CHEAPER COST. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. MY WIFE DRIVES THROUGH DC AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE IN THE CAR. THE DRIVER IS ABSOLUTELY OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT BECAUSE OF A BROKEN HAZARD SWITCH. DURING MY RESEARCH IT SEEMS AS IF THE HAZARD GETS STUCK DUE TO AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF GREASE AND IT CAN NOT BE PRIED LOOSE. I BELIEVE A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES THAT ARE INVOLVED WITH SUCH A PART GOING BAD. I COULD UNDERSTAND IT BEING ONLY THE CONCERN OF THE OWNER IF IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE, BUT SINCE IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND LIVES ARE AT STAKE SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE. I DID CONTACT GM/PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE . THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER , BUT THEY SEEMED TO ACT AS IF NOTHING WOULD BE DONE. *JB
MAJOR WINDOW FAILURE, ONLY ONE WINDOW WORKS, AND TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX. MY CAR HAS 70,000 MILES AND I HAVE HAD FUEL PUMP FAILURE, TOTAL RADIATOR FAILURE, AND TWO HEAT EXCHANGER FAILURES RESULTED IN RADIATOR FLUID ALL OVER PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR DUE TOO CHEAP CRIMPS ON HEAT EXCHANGER WHICH REQUIRES A HUGH DASH DISMANTLE TO FIX, WINDOW FAILURE, DASH HEAT AND A/C CONTROL FAILURE. THE CAR GETS DRIVEN 11 MILES A DAY TO WORK AND BACK AND WE HAVE PUT $1000'S INTO THIS PIECE OF CRAP. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER COULD CARE LESS AND WANT THIS WEBSITE REMOVED. NO ONE IS WILLING TO DO A THING. WILL BE SWITCHING BRANDS ASAP TO DODGE OR CHRYSLER. *JB
RECURRING BURNING OIL SMELL AND OIL LEAK ON MY 2002 PONTIAC GTP GRAND PRIX. @ DIFFERENT DEALERS HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO FIX IT MULTIPLE TIME AND AT A COST OF MORE THEN $1600 DOLLARS. ONLY THE HAVE THE REPAIR FALL UNDER A RECALL AFTER WHICH THEY WONT REFUND MY MONEY. ADDITIONALLY THE CAR STILL HAVE A OIL LEAK AND BURNING OIL SMELL. SEPARATION OF OUTER PLASTIC LENSE FROM MOUNTED FIXTURE RESULTING IN RAIN SETTLING IN THE INTERIOR OF TAIL LIGHT: MAY RESULT IN FAILURE OF BULBS

NO BRAKE LIGHTS. BROUGHT INTO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM THAT GM SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF, HAVING NO BRAKE LIGHTS COULD EASILY CAUSE A REAR END COLLISION! I WENT TO THE STORE(WAL-MART) WITH TWO OF MY CHILDREN ON JANUARY 3RD 2007, AFTER WE WERE IN THE STORE FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES MY LICENSE PLATE WAS PAGED BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTER, AS I APPROACHED THE COUNTER I OVERHEARD PEOPLE SAYING THAT THERE WAS A CAR ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT. I WENT OUTSIDE AND IT WAS MY CAR THAT HAD FIRE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED QUICKLY AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE AND THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND BOTH PARTIES TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS TOTALED. I KEPT UP ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR AND AT THE TIME I DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED MY CAR TO CATCH ON FIRE UNTIL THE RECALL NOTICE ON MARCH 15 2008. AT THE TIME I DID NOT KNOW WHO TO REPORT MY CAR FIRE TO BUT WITH THE RECALL I SAW THE NHTSA INFORMATION AND THAT THERE WERE OVER 250 REPORTED CASES ALREADY. THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET ON MY 3.8 LITER PONTIAC ENGINE FAILED, CAUSING ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK INTO THE CRANKCASE. THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE HAD TO BE DISASSEMBLED TO INSTALL THE NEW "IMPROVED" GASKET SET. MY MECHANIC CLAIMED THAT THIS IS A COMMON REPAIR ON THAT ENGINE AND THAT HE DOES AT LEAST 3 PER MONTH. I CALLED PONTIAC'S CUSTOMER CARE, THEY OFFERED NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. *JB
THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I AM UNABLE TO TAKE IT OUT EVEN WHEN ALL GEARS HAVE BEEN SWITCHED TO PARK. THE WERE NO EVENTS THAT GAVE ME WARNING ANY THING WAS WRONG WITH THE IGNITION. AT THIS POINT THIS IS THE 3RD PONTIAC GRAND PRIX RANGING IN YEARS 2001-2003 THAT I HAVE KNOWN THIS TO HAPPEN TO. THE KEY IS STILL STUCK IN THERE. OUR VEHICLE HAS ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT (OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD) BUT IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THESE REGULATORS WERE MANUFACTURED WITH A DESIGN FLAW. OUR WINDOWS ARE HARDLY EVER USED HERE IN CALIFORNIA, SUMMER TIME WITH 100 DEGREE HEAT THE AIR IS ON ALL THE TIME, AND THEN IN THE WINTER THE HEAT IS ON. BACK IN 2005 YOUR COMPANY REIMBURSED OUR COST OF THE FIRST REGULATOR THAT WHEN DEFECTED ON OUR AND I BELIEVE THAT YOUR COMPANY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AGAIN THIS TIME.
