MY WIFE AND I BOTH OWN 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP. I EXPERIENCED A RIGHT REAR FLAT WHILE DRIVING. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE WHOLE TIRE WAS SERIOUSLY RIPPED. THE OTHER REAR TIRE WAS BALD ON THE INSIDE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 17000 MILES ON IT. A MONTH LATER MY WIFE'S VEHICLE STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AT 20000 MILES (INSIDE WEAR ON BOTH REAR TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THESE CARS ARE BAD ABOUT THAT, YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR TIRES ALIGNED REGULARLY. REPLACED REAR TIRES ON BOTH VEHICLES. *TR
ON NOV.18TH 2008 A FRIEND AND I WERE ROBBED WHEN A 6FT 5 BLACK MAN GOT INTO THE BACK SEAT OF MY CAR. I HAD CRACKED MY WINDOW, BUT WHEN I PUT MY 2008 PONTIAC G6 IN PARK ALL OF MY DOORS UNLOCKED. AS LONG AS IT IS IN GEAR ALL DOORS ARE LOCKED, BUT WHEN PUT IN PARK IT UNLOCKS AUTOMATICALLY. IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT AND I COULD HAVE CHOSEN TO LOCK OR UNLOCK MY DOORS THEN ODDS ARE WE WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ROBBED OR HARMED. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I COULDN'T GET BACK INTO MY CAR THE DEALER GAVE ME A DIFFERENT NEW CAR. IT IS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT, AND IT ALSO HAS THE AUTOMATIC LOCK FEATURE. THIS UNNERVES ME TERRIBLY AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I DO NOT DRIVE MY CAR ALONE BECAUSE OF THE FEAR I HAVE NOW. I KNOW THAT MAYBE ALL VEHICLES ARE NOT LIKE THIS BUT I ALSO HAVE A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND IT IS THE SAME WAY, LOCKS WHEN IN GEAR, BUT UNLOCKS FOR PARK. THERE IS NO BENEFIT TO THIS HAPPENING BECAUSE IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT, AND THE CAR IS IN GEAR THEN HOW COULD AUTHORITIES GET IN TO THE VICTIM, OTHER THAN BREAKING THE WINDOWS IN? THIS IS A FEATURE THAT SHOULD BE UP TO THE DRIVER OF THE CAR, JUST AS AN AIRBAG SWITCH CAN BE TURNED ON OR OFF AT THE DRIVERS WISH, SO SHOULD THE LOCKS. I HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS AND ONE WILL BE GETTING LICENSE IN 2 YEARS AND I WANT TO HAVE THE ASSURANCE THAT SHE WILL HAVE LOCKED DOORS AT ALL TIMES WHEN SHE IS MAYBE JUST SITTING SOMEWHERE TALKING WITH FRIENDS, OR IS PARKED WAITING ON ANOTHER FRIEND TO ARRIVE. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF IT WAS YOUR WIFE, DAUGHTER,OR MOTHER? THE ROBBERY PUT ME IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 4 WEEKS TO TRY AND GET OVER THE TRAUMA OF THE ROBBERY. I AM STILL TO THIS DAY ON MEDICATIONS AND SEEING A THERAPIST WEEKLY. IF ANYTHING GOOD COMES OUT OF THIS I WANT TO KNOW THAT FOR ALL WOMEN WE CAN DRIVE AND PARK AND STILL BE SAFE. THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY IS NOT A GOOD ONE, AND WE MUST TAKE ALL OF THE SAFETY MEASURES WE CAN TO INSURE THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH WHAT MY FRIEND AND I DID ON THAT NIGHT . *TR
STEERING WHEEL WAS SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AFTER SHIFTING TO GEAR 2 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR DOWN A HILL (~45MPH). RAN INTO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD SINCE THERE WAS NO STEERING. A FALSE MESSAGE CAME UP TO THE DISPLAY SAYING 'LOW FUEL LEVEL'. STOPPED THE CAR, SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTARTED, THE STEERING WENT OK AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE STEERING ALSO FELT LOOSE. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
I NOTICED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THIS AUTOMOBILE THAT THERE WAS A VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISE SEEMING TO COME FROM THE DASH AREA. I HAVE IGNORED IT UNTIL TODAY WHEN MY SON WAS DRIVING ME TO CHURCH. HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE IT COULD BE SERIOUS. THAT IS WHY I AM NOW CHECKING INTO RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
GOODYEAR EAGLE LS TIRES ON A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX BEGAN SEPARATING AROUND 24,000 MILES, THIS IS ALL 4 TIRES ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TECH AT DEALERSHIP. WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE TIRES LOOKED AT, THEY REPLACED ONE FOR FREE BUT WILL NOT REPLACE THE OTHERS OF WHICH THEY SAY ALL NEED REPLACED. WE PURCHASED ONE FOR $124. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR AND WHEN IT HAD 10,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A CURB. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE PCM, FUSE BLOCK, AND THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS RETRIEVED FROM THE DEALER ON JULY 11, 2008 AND THEN RETURNED TO THEM ON JULY 15, 2008. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO A MAILBOX. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,243 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE REAR WINDOW FAILED AND SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,400 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,385. UPDATED 05/20/08. *LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT READ THE ACCURATE SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED; HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY UNTIL 15 MINUTES AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND THE AIR BAG INDICATOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED FRONT END DAMAGE AND WAS TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DAMAGED THE DASHBOARD AND SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED DURING THE DAY, THE SUN REFLECTS OFF THE PLEXI-GLASS THAT COVERS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES. THE GLARE PREVENTS THE CONTACT FROM SEEING THE ROAD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE CANNOT BE REPAIRED. THE POWER TRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 27,000.
FOLLOW-UP ON ODI #'S: 10191952 AND10192426 REPAIR ATTEMPT THREE ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AS OF MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, THIS MAKES 15 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE TRANSMISSION. DEALER CALLED TODAY, STATING VEHICLE IS REPAIRED. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WITH A "RE-MANUFACTURED" TRANSMISSION THEY ORDERED FROM GM. SO, I'VE GOT A BRAND NEW 2007 GRAND PRIX GXP WITH 3,200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WITH A USED TRANSMISSION FROM GM. DEALER INSISTED VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN FOR SEVERAL TEST-DRIVES TODAY, AND IT IS IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION. UPON TAKING THE CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE, MYSELF, I NOTICED THAT THE GEARSHIFT WAS LOOSE, AND DID NOT LOCK INTO PLACE, AS IT HAD BEFORE, AND AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. ANY SLIGHT PRESSURE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSED THIS "NEW"(????) TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, WITHOUT CONTROL INPUT FROM DRIVER. BASICALLY, THERE WERE NO DETENT STOPS FOR THE GEAR INDICATOR, AND IT FREELY MOVED BETWEEN DRIVE, NEUTRAL AND REVERSE! DEALER STATED THEY WOULD ONCE AGAIN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. DEALER DID NOT CLOSE-OUT THE SERVICE TICKET, SO THEY ARE MAKING THIS APPEAR AS ONE REPAIR ATTEMPT, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE: 1. IGNORED INITIAL COMPLAINT, 2. ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION, 3. FAILING THAT, THEY ORDERED A USED, RE-MANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION FROM GM, WHICH HAS EITHER BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, OR IS DEFECTIVE FROM THE START. EVEN IF THE VEHICLE CAN BE "REPAIRED", IT NOW HAS A USED, DYSFUNCTIONAL AND DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION, AND THE CAR IS SERIOUSLY DE-VALUED. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH GM, AND THOROUGHLY PLAN ON A VIGOROUS PURSUIT OF MY RIGHTS UNDER THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW.
UPDATE ON 10192218 AND 10192426. 2007 GRAND PRIX GXP DEALER ATTEMPTED REPAIR TRANSMISSION. PER GMS TECH SUPPORT, DEALER PULLED TRANSMISSION, REPLACED FINAL DRIVE GEARS , AND BEARINGS. PROBLEM NOT RESOLVED. DEALER THEN REPLACED TRANSMISSION, BUT WITH GM RE-MANUFACTURED"PART. ALSO, DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT OBTAIN A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR ANY REPAIR BECAUSE THE FACTORY SAVED NEW TRANSMISSIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION LINE VEHICLES. 15 DAYS AT DEALER. AND WAS TOLD CAR READY FOR PICK-UP. DROVE THE CAR AROUND THE PARKING LOT AND NOTICED GEAR SHIFT DID NOT LOCK INTO PLACE IN ANY GEAR BUT MANUAL. REVERSE, DIDN'T WORK, AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL GOING DOWN AN INCLINE. BROUGHT VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BACK TO DEALER, WHO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT BRIDGESTONE TIRES DUE TO OUT OF ROUND AND IRREGULAR WEAR. LATEST SET OF TIRES WERE ALSO DEFECTIVE, ORDERED TWO NEW BRIDGESTONE'S UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND SET OF REPLACEMENT TIRES DID NOT HELP. DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION, DESPITE DRIVE LINE SHUDDERING. DEALER STATED OPERATED AS DESIGNED. *AK
2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 17" ALLOY WHEELS BEND ON EVERYDAY ROAD PETRUSIONS WITH MINIMAL IMPACT, POTHOLES, SEWER GRATES, ETC. TO THE POINT OF LOSING AIR. REPLACEMENT OF THE WHEEL IS THE ONLY OPTION FOR REPAIR. TRIED TO HAVE THE WHEELS PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED WITH THE RESULT OF THE WHEEL CRACKING AND THE PROFESSIONAL TRYING TO FIX THE WHEEL STATE THE MATERIAL IN GM ALLOY WHEELS IS INFERIOR. *TR
UPDATE REGARDING ORIGINAL ODI CASE NUMBER: 10191952. CAR HAS NOW BEEN IN SERVICE FOR TEN DAYS. DEALER STATED GM "AWARE OF A POTENTIAL DEFECT" IN THE TRANSMISSION, IN THE FINAL DRIVE GEAR(S). DEALER REPLACED TWO GEARS AND A BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION. PURSUANT TO DISCUSSION WITH DEALER REPRESENTATIVE TODAY, REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION IS NOW MAKING "CLANKING" NOISE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INSTEAD OF JUST AT IDLE. NO DETAILS RECEIVED REGARDING HARSH SHIFT, JUST THAT DEALER FELT TRANSMISSION REPAIR WAS "UNACCEPTABLE". DEALER HAS ORDERED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION FROM GM. NOTE: DEALER, FERMAN AT CYPRESS CREEK IN LUTZ, FL HAS BEEN QUITE ACCOMMODATING AND RUDY SCHMIDT, SERVICE DIRECTOR, HAS MADE THIS ORDEAL MUCH MORE TOLERABLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING FLAW, WHICH GM DID NOT CORRECT PRIOR TO DELIVERY. *TR

PURCHASED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP NEW, APPROX 3 MONTHS AGO. AT 500 MILES, LOUD METAL-ON-METAL "CLANKING" NOISE BEGAN. TRACED NOISE TO TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING. TAKEN FOR SERVICE AT 1,500 MILES, REQUESTED SERVICE WRITER LISTEN TO THE NOISE AND TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM. RETURNED AS "NO PROBLEM FOUND". AGAIN, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SAME NOISE, ALONG WITH HARSH AND SUDDEN SHIFTS AROUND 25-30MPH. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO RETURN VEHICLE, STATING IT WAS "NORMAL, AND COVERED BY A TSB". I REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE VEHICLE. DEALER GAVE ME A VERY HARD TIME ABOUT COVERING A LOANER VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS 2ND TIME TO DEALER WITH SAME COMPLAINT, UNRESOLVED, WITH JUST OVER 3,200 MILES ON ODOMETER. DEALER CALLED GM. MECHANICS NOW HAVE TO TEAR OUT THE TRANSMISSION TO "ATTEMPT A DIAGNOSIS". APPARENTLY, THERE MAY BE A "CLUTCH PACK ISSUE". VEHICLE STILL IN SERVICE AFTER 4 DAYS, NO DIAGNOSIS YET. REQUEST GM PROVIDE A NEW TRANSMISSION AND BELL HOUSING. *TR
PURCHASED 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GXP NEW, WITH 98 MILES ON ODOMETER, IN MARCH, 2007. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA TIRES ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AS OEM. TIRES LOSE AIR (CHECKED WITH PROFESSIONAL TIRE GAUGE EVERY WEEK), DOWN TO 24 PSI IN ALL 4 TIRES, AT SAME AMBIENT TEMP, COLD TIRES. WHEN TIRES ARE COLD, THEY RUN AS IF THEY ARE SQUARE. BUMPING ALONG, STEERING WHEEL SHUDDERING SIDE TO SIDE. TAKEN TO DEALER. THEY FORCE-VARIANCE BALANCED ALL WHEELS/TIRES AND ALIGNED VEHICLE, INCLUDING ENGINE CRADLE. CAR STILL HAD SLIGHT STEERING SHUDDER, BECAME WORSE OVER THE NEXT FEW HUNDRED MILES. TAKEN BACK TO DEALER. THEY STATE TIRES "OUT OF ROUND" BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE SITUATION EXCEPT TO ADD AIR, AND TELL ME THAT ONE TIRE THREW A BALANCING WEIGHT. OVERALL, EVEN WITH PROPER INFLATION, PROPER ALIGNMENT OF ALL COMPONENTS (STEERING AND ENGINE CRADLE), INCLUDING PROPER FORCE-VARIANCE BALANCING, THE TIRES CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO PULL VIOLENTLY LEFT OR RIGHT, DEPENDING ON THE ANGLE OR CROWN OF THE ROAD. ALSO, PULL SO HARD GOING OVER ROAD IMPERFECTIONS, THAT STEERING WHEEL COMES OUT OF MY HANDS. DROVE SEVERAL OTHER IDENTICAL VEHICLES WITH OTHER BRAND (PIRELLI) TIRES, WITH NO PROBLEM. DEFECTIVE TIRES AT ALL FOUR WHEELS. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA'S. HAVE REQUESTED THAT SERVICE MANAGER REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES WITH PIRELLI'S (THEY ARE THE ONLY OTHER MANUFACTURER WHICH MAKES 18" TIRES COMPATIBLE WITH MY GXP, WHICH USES TWO SEPARATE TIRE SIZES FOR FRONT AND BACK. THE BRIDGESTONE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED OR REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHEN A 105 LBS PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. WHEN THE LIGHT IS DIM IT INDICATES THAT THE AIR BAG IS NOT ACTIVATED. THE DEALER REPAIRED A LOOSE WIRE AND ANOTHER DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURS IN COLD CONDITIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,300. UPDATED 01/29/08. *LJ
