WHEN YOU SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG DOES NOT TURN ON. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL ALREADY OUT THERE FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. *TR
AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE APPEARED IN DRIVERS INFORMATION CENTER. *TR
SERVICE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL COME ON ALWAYS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. TRACTION CONTROL WILL TURN ITSELF OFF. NOT LONG AFTER THESE LIGHTS COME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AS WELL. ALL SEEM TO CLEAR THEMSELVES AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS. BY THE TIME I AM ABLE TO HAVE IT RAN FOR A CODE THE LIGHTS ARE ALREADY OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASION AND VERY CONCERNED ABOUT TRANSPORTING MY [XXX] YEAR OLD IN THIS CAR. I HAVE HAD TO ALSO REPLACE THE BATTERY ALREADY 4 TIMES IN THE CAR AND HAVE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACED TWICE AS WELL. *TR PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I CUT MY CAR ON THIS MORNING AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAC, AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON. THEY STAYED ON THROUGHOUT MY DRIVE TO TAKE MY SON TO AND FROM SCHOOL. I JUST GOT THIS VEHICLE LAST NIGHT AND THE DEALER SAID EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE AS CAR WAS PLACED "GM ON A ROLL INSPECTION". IT WAS CHECKED 2 DAYS IN A ROW AND I HAVE THE PAPERWORK SHOWING AS NOTHING WRONG. I CHECK ON IT TODAY ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2007 TORRENT NEW, MY SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL OFF HAS BEEN COMING ON SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING WERE NOT AFFECTED, IT RAN WITH NO PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT WILL RESET ITSELF AND IT DID, NO PROBLEM. BEGINNING OF DECEMBER 2013, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC MOVING ABOUT 50MPH, MY TORRENT HAD NO PROBLEM MERGING BEFORE, AS I BEGAN TO ENTER THE TRAFFIC THERE WERE THREE DINGS, TRACTION CONTROL OFF. THIS TIME ENGINE POWER REDUCED, TOTALLY UNEXPECTED. THE TORRENT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 15 MPH, IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE HOLDING THE VEHICLE BACK THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AT 4000 RPM. TURNED OFF CAR, WAITED A MINUTE RESTARTED, RAN FINE. ENGINE POWER REDUCED COMES ON A DAILY BASIS. I CAN'T TRUST THIS VEHICLE NOW! *TR
LOST FWD DO TO WHEEL BEARING HUB TWICE, GAS GAUGE GOES TO WHAT EVER POSITION IT WANTS TO EVEN WHEN FULL OF GAS. RADIO CHANGES STATIONS WITH OUT NO ONE TOUCHING IT. TRANSMISSION HAS A CHATTER IN IT NOW AND VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 80000 MILES ON IT. STILL PAYING FOR A LEMON
OWN A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. MY HEATER BLOWS ONLY WARM AIR IN MY VEHICLE. THE BLOWER FAN AND ALL THE SWITCHES ARE FINE. WHEN I TURN THE TEMPERATURE KNOB TO HOT AIR, ONLY COLD AIR COMES OUT. I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC. MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS FINE AS WAS MY COOLANT LEVEL. THEY ADVISED THAT THE TEMPERATURE SHAFT IS BROKEN INSIDE THE HEATER BOX AND WOULD NEED TO BE FIXED BY REMOVING THE ENTIRE DASH LABOR COST ALONE IS ABOVE 1000K. I CALLED GM TO ASK WHAT THEY WILL DO TO ASSIST WITH THE COST BUT SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL OR CLASS ACTION THEY WILL NOT HELP TO REPAIR THE DAMAGED HEATER DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT PRESENCE MODULE WAS FAULTY. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V344000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THAT VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2010 USED WITH APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS, WE RECEIVED THE FIRST "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "STABILITRAK OFF" CAME UP IN THE INFORMATION CENTER. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT, WHICH THE MANUAL SAYS YOU CAN DO, AND AFTER AWHILE IT WENT OFF. THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT HOWEVER HAS STAYED ON EVER SINCE. ROLL FORWARD TO NOVEMBER, 2014. I WAS DRIVING FINE AT ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR, WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE VEHICLE KICKS MY CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND SLOWS ME DOWN TO ABOUT 20MPH IN JUST A FEW SECONDS! I WAS UNABLE TO GO ANY FASTER AND VEHICLE RAN VERY SLUGGISH AND JUMPING, ETC. FINALLY, AFTER DRIVING AT ABOUT 10 MPH FOR 15 MILES, I MADE IT HOME AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED IN AND THERE WERE LOTS OF CODES ON THE SYSTEM AND THE MAIN THING WAS THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS SHOT. THEY ALSO REPLACED FUEL SENSOR. AFTER $450, THE VEHICLE SEEMED OKAY. UNFORTUNATELY A WEEK AGO, THE STABILITRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING GLITCHES IN POWER EVER SINCE, BUT STILL NOTHING WHERE I CAN'T DRIVE IT. HOWEVER, COMING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO, AND SPEEDING UP TO 55, THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST POWER IMMEDIATELY WITH BASICALLY NO WARNING. I COULDN'T GO ANY FASTER THAN 5-10MPH. AFTER GETTING BACK HOME AND LETTING IT SIT ALL DAY AND STARTING IT AGAIN, NO LIGHTS ARE ON EXCEPT "CHECK ENGINE" WHICH WILL ALWAYS STAY ON, AND IT IS RUNNING FINE AGAIN. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD, SINCE THIS COULD HAPPEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT! I HATE TO TAKE IT BACK IN FOR REPAIR SINCE IT SEEMS LIKE THEY JUST FIX WHATEVER THEY WANT, BUT THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY RUN FINE ANYWAY, UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE! I FELT THE CAR SHUTTER A LITTLE AND THEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY. ALSO, THE STABILITY/TRACTION LIGHT STAYS ON. MY CAR ONLY HAS 21000 MILES ON IT AND IS STILL PRACTICALLY NEW. *JB

THE CONTACT HAD TO PUT HER FOOT UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION .THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000. CONTACTED GM AND THE VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. SHOULDN'T ANY 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BE INCLUDED NO MATTER WHERE IT IS? SEEMS A LITTLE SUSPECT THAT CALIFORNIA, ARIZONA, NEVADA AND TEXAS ARE INCLUDED BUT NEW MEXICO IS EXCLUDED. WE GET OUR VEHICLES FROM THE SAME FACTORIES AS THE THOSE OTHER STATES. CURRENT ESTIMATE TO FIX MY VEHICLE IS 1000.00. *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE SPEED SUDDENLY DECELERATED AFTER THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,900.
STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ONE WHEN GOING ABOVE 65 MPH A SMALL BUMP WILL CAUSE THE LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION ARE DISABLED AT THIS TIME. THIS WILL RESET AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS OVER NIGHT AND THEN WILL WITH OUT WARNING COME BACK ON AGAIN AND DISABLE THE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. *JB
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT A FUEL PUMP/FUEL LEAK ISSUE. WENT ON 7/9/2013 TO JIM ELLIS CHEVROLET TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED. 2 WEEKS LATER, WE HAVE GAS LEAKING OUT UNDER THE FUEL TANK OF VEHICLE. DROPPED CAR OFF AT DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE PART (TODAY IS SUNDAY) AND THEY ARE CLOSED. LEFT IT THERE SO THEY CAN LOOK AT IT IN THE MORNING. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL THE PART WAS REPLACED. I HOPE I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS DEALER FIXING WHAT THEY DID WITH THE RECALL. ON NOTICE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY VEHICLE'S BRAKES BEGAN TO LOCK AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I TAPPED THE BRAKES TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE 2 DAYS LATER IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC - BRAKES LOCK WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. LET OFF THE GAS AND IT STOPS ITSELF WITH VERY BAD SHAKING. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. IT HAS HAPPENED EVERY DAY SINCE UNDER STOP-AND-START CONDITIONS AND IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY LOCKED. VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE ONCE BRAKES LOCK UNLESS IT IS TURNED OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" LIGHT COMES ON AFTER THIS HAPPENS. ABS SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED FOR $700 TO NO AVAIL. IN ADDITION, I SEE A RECALL FOR THE GAS TANK. I ALSO HAD THAT PROBLEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO - GAS WAS LEAKING FROM MY TANK, BUT SINCE I LIVE IN LOUISIANA THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. THAT WAS A $1000 REPAIR, BUT THAT'S BETTER THAN IT CATCHING ON FIRE, I SUPPOSE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V344000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SINCE APRIL OF LAST YEAR, EVERYTIME IT RAINS MY CAR ENDS UP FLOODING. I HAVE HAD 2 CAR DEALERS LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAY IT IS COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. NOT VERY HAPPY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY STABITRAK LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING ALL TIRES TO LOCK UP. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER VEHICLE SAFELY, STEERING WHEEL WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. ALL 4 BRAKES LOCKED UP AND LOUD GRINDING NOISE COULD BE HEARD. VEHICLE TOP SPEED DROPPED ABRUPTLY TO 11 MPH WHILE TRAVELING ON BUSY INTERSTATE. VEHICLE STARTED JUMPING FORWARD AND WHEELS/TIRES WOULD NOT TURN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL VEHICLE OFF INTERSTATE, TO A SAFE LOCATION, WITHIN A COUPLE MINUTES, BY USING EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND FOUND BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE ON FIRE WITH FLAMES VISABLE AND TIRES WERE SMOKING HEAVILY. THE DASH LIGHT WERE BLINKING "SERVICE STABITRAK" AND "TRACTION CONTROL OFF." THIS INCIDENT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND IS USED SOLEY ON PAVED ROADS. THERE A SEVERAL HUNDRED OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS OF SAME VEHICLE, WITH SAME PROBLEM. *TR

INSPECTED BY ASE CERTIFIED SHOP/TECHNICIAN AND FOUND FUEL LINE PORT CRACKED ALLOWING FUEL TO LEAK OUT AND RUN ONTO AND OFF OF FUEL TANK. FOUND RELATED RECALL/BULLETIN. CONTACTED GM DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY OR MEET THE OUTLINED GUIDELINES FOR WARRANTY REPAIR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) HOWEVER, WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I HAVE BEEN DETECTING THE ODOR OF GASOLINE FROM THE AREA NEAR THE FUEL TANK. ON VISUAL INSPECTION, I WAS NEVER ABLE TO SEE ANYTHING ON THE GROUND OR ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR, AND THE SMELL DIDN'T SEEM TO BE PRESENT ALL THE TIME. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC, AND INITIALLY, HE DIDN'T DETECT ANYTHING EITHER, BUT THE ODOR HAS CONTINUED TO BE DETECTABLE OFF AND ON, SOMETIMES RATHER STRONGLY. WHEN I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE ON MAY 23, I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO CHECK AGAIN FOR A LEAK. THIS TIME, WITH THE CAR ON THE LIFT, HE COULD SEE WHERE FUEL HAS BEEN LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE ABOVE THE GAS TANK. HE DID A "SMOKE TEST" WHICH CONFIRMS THERE IS A LEAK, BUT BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CAR IS BUILT, HE CAN'T SEE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK WITHOUT REMOVING THE GAS TANK, WHICH WOULD ALSO NECESSITATE REMOVING THE EXHAUST PIPE FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON BACK. FROM THE GENERAL LOCATION, THOUGH, I SUSPECT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME THAT IS REFERENCED IN NHTSA RECALL 12V459000, A LEAKING FUEL PUMP MODULE, ALTHOUGH I DO NOT LIVE IN ANY OF THE STATES AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO VERIFY THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. *TR

THE ODOR INCREASED AS TIME WENT ON. THE CONSUMER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE FOR LEAKS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THE UNDER CARRIAGE AND AROUND THE FUEL TANK SPOUT AREA, BUT NONE WERE VISIBLE. SHORTLY AFTER THE 5-YEAR WARRANTY ON MY 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT EXPIRED, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE, AND THE "OFF" LIGHT FOR THAT AIRBAG REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THE CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT. IT WILL COST $725 (500 PART, 200 LABOR) TO FIX PLUS A $99 DIAGNOSTIC FEE.
