THE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNINGS STARTED COMING ON LAST AUGUST 2012. THE VEHICLE STAYED PARKED MOST OF 2012 SINCE THE PROBLEM PERSIST AND WE DIDN'T HAVE MEANS TO PAY FOR A REPAIR LIKE THAT. WE GOT A LETTER IN OCTOBER 2012 ABOUT A RECALL DUE TO A FAULTY PLASTIC PART ON THE FUEL TANK. WE HAD THAT REPLACED AND THOUGHT THE WARNINGS WOULD GO AWAY BUT THEY HAVEN'T. I WENT BACK TO WORK IN JANUARY 2013, AND THE PROBLEM HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORST! THIS IS OUR PRIMARY CAR NOW AND IT'S SCARY WHEN YOU HAVE TWO KIDS IN THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY! WE ALMOST GOT INTO A NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. JUST TODAY 02/25/2013, THE VEHICLE STARTED FEELING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE FREEWAY, TURN OFF THE CAR AND WAIT FOR IT TO SETTLE DOWN. THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS SHOULD HAPPEN IN CALIFORNIA WHEN THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE NO WHERE NEAR TRIGGERING THE CONTROLS. I'VE READ A LOT OF REVIEWS OF OTHER CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT AND I HOPE GM IS PREPARED FOR ANOTHER RECALL! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRONG FUEL ODOR WHILE IT WAS PARKED OR DRIVEN CAUSING THE ENGINE START UP TO DELAY. THE FUEL ODOR PENETRATED THE VEHICLE INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AS THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WHICH CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FUEL MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL WOULD CONTINUOUSLY SPILL FROM THE FUEL TANK AND ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. UPDATED 08-09-12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOCAL GMC DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE 1ST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE STABILITY TRAC WARNING CAME ON, TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND RESET, THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY REPLACED A SENSOR. AFTER THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT, WAS INTERMITTENT UNTIL IT NO LONGER WORKS AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM, SO I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT FOR A YEAR. THE NEXT THING TO GO WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE TAIL LIGHT, I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED 4 TIMES, IT LASTS ABOUT A DAY, THE DRIVERS SIDE RUNNING LIGHTS WENT, BULB REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES, THE SHOP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE WHY, THE CODE STATES AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, SO I DRIVE WITHOUT DRIVERS SIDE RUNNING LIGHTS. HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES BY POLICE OFFICERS, THEY SAY THEY UNDERSTAND AND TOLD ME TO GET IN TOUCH WITH GMC, WHICH I HAVE DONE. STILL NO RESULT. OH AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CANNOT DETERMINE, BUT OFFERED TO FIND AND REPAIR FOR $700.00 AND IF GMC EXTENDS A RECALL, I WILL BE REIMBURSED, SO APPARENTLY IN MY ESTIMATIONS, THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM EXISTS. WHAT I AM AND HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH READS VERY MUCH LIKE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER GMC PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP) HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM REAR OF CAR WHILE RUNNING AND AFTER TURNED OFF. TROUBLE STARTING CAR ON FIRST TURN OF THE KEY. TOOK TO DEALER AND THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID AS SOON AS WE TOOK IT TO BE ASSESSED IT WAS EITHER THE GAS TANK OR FUEL PUMP AND COULD BE VERY COSTLY TO FIX. IF THE DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS? ISN'T THIS A SAFETY ISSUE? LUCKILY I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 800 DOLLARS TO FIX. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, SO WHY HAVE THE PARTS NOT BEEN RECALLED? *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE SMELLED A FUEL ODOR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE SMELL WAS SO STRONG THAT THE DEALER ADVISED THE DRIVER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT A FUEL LINE ACROSS THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,300.
GAS WAS LEAKING SO I HAD IT REPLACED! NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP! *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND SMELLED GASOLINE COMING FROM THE CAR. AFTER 2 DAYS THE GASOLINE SMELL PERSISTED SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. UPON LOOKING, THEY FOUND A LEAK IN THE FUEL PUMP WHICH THEY SAID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART. THEY WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOT. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. LATER I SAW ON THE INTERNET THAT GM WAS RECALLING CERTAIN PONTIAC TORRENTS WITH SPECIFIC VIN NUMBERS AND MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART REGARDLESS OF WHERE IT WAS MANUFACTURED. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR I HAD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE STARTED TO SMELL GASOLINE INSIDE HER VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,849. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,653.
COULD SMELL GASOLINE FUMES ON OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE AFTER USE. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE, FOUND OUT OTHERS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP OUTLET CRACKING. REMOVED THE TANK AND FOUND THE DISCHARGE FITTING ON THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. I CANNOT BELIEVE SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. WHEN I TOUCH THE DISCHARGE LINE THE OUTLET FITTING COMPLETELY BROKE OFF. THIS IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO START AND FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE LINES TO THE FUEL TANK HAD CRACKED CAUSING A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,500.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,871 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000. .... UPDATED 02-20-13 *BF THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THERE WAS A LEAKING COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AFTER THE CONSUMER LEARNED THAT A FUEL LINE CONNECTION AT THE FUEL PUMP HAD SEVERED CAUSING A FUEL LEAK BETWEEN THE PASSENGER CABIN AND FUEL TANK. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE FUEL PUMP AND LINES WERE ONE PIECE AND THE TANK HAD TO BE DROPPED IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. UPDATED 02/27/13
MY CAR STARTED STALLING WHEN DRIVING, THEN AFTER THAT I STARTED SMELLING HEAVY GAS FUMES WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN CAR IS PARKED ITS SMELLS LIKE GAS REALLY STRONG. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V344000 (AIR BAGS), BUT WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE DEALER COMPLETED THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT EQUIPPED WITH DUNLAP SIGNATURE 2 TIRES, SIZE 235-65R16 AND DOT NUMBER TJ46JU1R3512. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR TIRES FAILED PREMATURELY. THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AND CAUSED THE TIRES TO BECOME FLAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,039. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
STRONG GAS COULD BE SMELLED NEAR THE GAS TANK. I COULD NOT PARK IT IN THE GARAGE DUE TO SAFETY CONSIDERATION. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR ACCORDING TO GM DATABASE. I HEARD THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RECALLS BUT WHY MY CAR IS NOT IN THE RECALL SINCE GAS LEAKING IS THE SAME REASON, FUEL PUMP RELATED. HOPE GOVERNMENT INVOLVES THIS WITH HIGH PRIORITY BECAUSE THIS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO PEOPLE OR PROPERTIES IF PARKED IN THE GARAGES. *TR
IN 2012 I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE. I HAD NOTICED A SMELL OF ANTI FREEZE COMING FROM THE VENT WHEN YOU TURN ON THE HEAT. AFTER THE SERVICE I ASK MY MECHANIC IF HE SMELLED ANYTHING AND HE STATED SOMETHING SMELLS SWEET BUT DID NOT SAY HE SMELLED ANTI FREEZE. OVER THE PAST TWO YEAR WHEN I DRIVE HER CAR I TURN THE HEAT ON AND YES THE SMELL OF ANTI FREEZE IS STILL THERE FOR ABOUT 10 MINS. AND GOES AWAY. FWD: 2/2014 MY WIFE CALLED AND SAID AFTER TURNING THE HEAT ON SHE COULD NOT SEE OUT THE FRONT INSIDE WINDSHIELD AND HAD TO KEEP WIPING IT WITH A RAG AND THE SMELL OF ANTI FREEZE WAS VERY STRONG. I KNOW ABOUT HEATER CORES AND IT SHOULDN'T BE BAD BECAUSE MY WIFE HATES HEAT. *TR
WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN BODY & DRIVER'S DOOR IS TOO SHORT, & SUBSEQUENTLY STRETCHES, FRAYS & BREAKS THE WIRES, RESULTING IN FAILURE OF VARIOUS DOOR COMPONENTS: POWER DOOR LOCK, POWER WINDOW, SIDE MIRROR CONTROL, DOOR CHIME, & DOOR STEREO SPEAKERS. THE PASSENGER DOOR PROBABLY HAS SAME ISSUE, BUT SINCE THIS DOOR IS USED LESS, THE ISSUE OCCURS LESS OFTEN. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS FROM HUNDREDS OF PONTIAC TORRENT OWNERS, WITH PHOTOS, ON THE INTERNET. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO KNOW THAT SO MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, YET THERE IS NO GM RECALL TO CORRECT A PROBLEM THAT IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW, AND NOT USER ERROR OR OTHER OUTSIDE INFLUENCE SUCH AS WEATHER. SINCE I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY SUNROOF NOT CLOSING AND SEALING PROPERLY, I THOUGHT INITIALLY THAT THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE DOOR WERE FROM WATER RUNNING DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND SHORTING SOMETHING OUT. (SINCE THERE WAS ALSO NO RECALL ON THE SUNROOF, IT WOULD HAVE COST OVER $800 TO FIX IT. I HAD TO CAULK THE SEAMS WITH ACRYLIC FOR OUTDOOR USE. I'M SURE IT WILL BE A TEMPORARY FIX DUE TO THE ELEMENTS OF SUN AND RAIN). MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE CHALLENGED GM TO REPAIR OR RECALL, TO NO AVAIL. ONE DEALER EVEN BLAMED IT ON COLD WEATHER, BUT I LIVE IN FLORIDA WHICH IS HOT MOST OF THE TIME. GM SOCIAL MEDIA BLOGGERS OFTEN CHIMED IN TO CONTACT GM, BUT WHEN OWNERS DID SO, NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED REGARDING HELPING OUT OWNERS WITH THE ISSUE NOR THE COST OF REPAIR. MANY OWNERS ACTUALLY PAID FOR OR BOUGHT COMPLETELY NEW WIRING HARNESSES, WHICH ARE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR THE PART AS WELL AS EXPENSIVE FOR THE IN-DOOR INSTALLATION. OTHERS SPLICED THEIR OWN WIRES TO EFFECT A SOLUTION. THIS ISSUE IS ON A 2007 TORRENT, BUT OTHER YEARS OF THAT VEHICLE 2006-2009 ARE ALSO AFFECTED, SINCE THEY SHARE MANY COMMON COMPONENTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT WITH STRONG SMELL OF GAS FUMES WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS LIFTED TODAY AND THERE WERE A FEW DROPS OF GASOLINE DRIPPING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TANK. I SUSPECT A PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THE FUEL LINES NEAR THE TANK. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 63K MILES ON THE ODOMETER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL PUMP AND PUMP TANK SEAL WHICH WAS LEAKING ONTO THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK. FIRST APPEARED AS "SERVICE STABILITRAK", WHICH RESULTED IN THE ENGINE POWERING DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NOT VERY SAFE. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY HAD THE DEALER REPAIR IT BY REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY, STATING THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT THEY DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. IT APPEARED TO BE OKAY FOR ABOUT A YEAR, THEN THE PROBLEM RESURFACED. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN ACTING UP (APPEARED TO BE SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR). AFTER SOME RESEARCH, WE LEARNED, AGAIN, THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE TORRENTS. WE REPLACED THE EGR VALVE, RESET THE COMPUTER AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO HAVE RESOLVED AGAIN. NOW, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT IS ON YET AGAIN, MY RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING, AND THE "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TORRENT AND CHEVY EQUINOX WHICH GM IS WELL AWARE OF. THEY REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM AND ARE ALLOWING THE COST FOR ALL OF THESE REPAIRS TO LAY WITH THE CONSUMER. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,388 UPDATED 10/19/11 *BF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RAISED, FUEL SPILLED FROM WHERE IT HAD BEEN POOLING ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. IT APPARENTLY WAS EVAPORATING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN. THE MECHANIC FOUND A PLASTIC STRAP THAT WAS AROUND THE FUEL TANK AND AROUND THE RETURN LINE ON THE PRIMARY FUEL PUMP. THE STRAP'S REPLACEMENT MAY HAVE PUT STRESS ON THE RETURN LINE FITTING WHERE THE PUMP HOUSING WAS OBVIOUSLY CRACKED. THE CRACK WAS LOCATED WHERE THE STRAP WAS LOCATED. THE STRAP WAS FUSED INTO PLACE; NOT A ZIP TIE. THE MECHANIC CUT THE STRAP OFF. UPDATED 01/03/11
AFTER SMELLING FUEL FOR A WEEK, THINKING THAT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE IN THE GARAGE, I DECIDED TO LOOK UNDER THE CAR. SURE ENOUGH, THE FUEL TANK WAS WET ON THE SIDES OF THE TANK AND ALSO WAS WET ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK. I CALLED A COUPLE GM DEALERS TO ASK ABOUT FUEL LEAKS ON THE TORRENT, BUT THERE ALL LIKE, BRING IN THE CAR AND LET US CHECK IT OUT. SO, BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY, I DECIDED TO CHECK INTO IT FURTHER MYSELF. AFTER DROPPING THE TANK AND RECONNECTING THE ELECTRIC AND FUEL CONNECTIONS, AND TURNING THE KEY ON, I COULD SEE THE FUEL STREAMING OUT OF A CRACKED FUEL LINE RIGHT UP NEXT TO THE FUEL PUMP. THE LEAK IS IN THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE FROM THE FUEL PUMP AND GOES UP TO THE ENGINE. THE LEAK IS IN THE FUEL PUMP ITSELF. LIFTING THE FUEL LINE SLIGHTLY WOULD MAKE THE LEAK WORSE AND PUSHING DOWN ON THE FUEL LINE WOULD MAKE IT LESS SEVERE. THE FUEL WOULD COME OUT IN A STEADY STREAM THE DIAMETER OF THE SIZE OF THE LEAD IN A PENCIL.
I HAVE A CONSTANT WARNING TO SERVICE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I BELIEVE AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THAT THE SENSOR IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PONTIAC TORRENT. I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID MY VIN DOES NOT FALL IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER THAT SERVICE BULLETINS RELEASED CLEARLY SHOW THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. SOON AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE ON ABOVE DATE I BEGAN TO NOTICE A SMELL OF GAS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. RECENTLY AN INDEPENDENT STATION INDICATED THEY SAW GAS LEAK EVIDENCE ON THE GAS TANK, AND BEFORE REPAIR I SHOULD CHECK FOR RECALL, SINCE THEY HAD MADE SIMILAR REPAIRS BEFORE. I DID RESEARCH TO DISCOVER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000, INDICATING RECALL OF FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLIES THAT HAVE FAILED AND WERE FIRE DANGERS. THE GM RECALL CENTER SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE, AND THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP ALSO CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO RECALL ACCORDING TO MY VIN. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER MAY HAVE LIMITED THE RECALL TO NOT INCLUDE CARS THAT ARE IN FACT DEFECTIVE, AND WOULD LIKE FOR THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD I TRIED TO ACTIVATE THE REAR WIPER TO CLEAN THE REAR WINDOW. BUT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD NOT MOVE AND A HORRENDOUS NOISE CAME FROM THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR. THE NOISE WOULD NOT GO AWAY SO I HAD TO PULL INTO A DRIVEWAY TO SEE IF I COULD GET IT TO STOP. I HAD TO MANUALLY PUSH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER TO GET IT TO WORK. AFTER THAT I TURNED OFF THE WIPER BECAUSE EVERY TIME IT TRIED TO CLEAR THE WINDOW THE NOISE CAME BACK AND THE WIPER WOULD NOT MOVE. THE WIPER IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT WORK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. DURING RAIN THIS SEVERELY LIMITS MY REAR WINDOW VISIBILITY. UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT ECONOMY I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO GET IT FIXED.

I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IMMEDIATELY THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST TAKE INTO THE DEALER ON MONDAY. I THEN SHIFTED THE CAR TO DRIVE AND NOW REALIZED I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. DEFINITELY WOULD BE HEADED TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY. DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE REST OF THE WEEKEND AS I BELIEVED IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. MONDAY MADE THE DEALER AWARE THAT I WOULD BE BRINGING IN AND WHY. AT NOON TIME STARTED THE VEHICLE TO TAKE TO THE DEALER AND ALL OPERATIONS WERE FINE. CALLED THE DEALER AND SAID THE CAR WAS NOW OPERATING OK. SERVICE TOLD ME THAT WE WOULD CALL ONE TIME A FLUKE BUT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN GET THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY WOULD LOOK FOR THE FAULT CODES TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. I AGREED TO DO THIS BUT DECIDED TO LOOK UP ISSUES ON THE INTERNET. ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO, I AM DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL WHEN SUDDENLY THERE IS A WARNING INDICATOR ON MY DASH SAYING MAJOR BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE. I FILLED IT UP AND CONTINUED DRIVING THE CAR AFTER NOTICING NO FLUID WHERE THE CAR IS MAINLY PARKED. IN A WEEK'S TIME, THE BRAKES HAVE STARTED GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO PRESS AND THE VEHICLE NOT WANTING TO STOP NORMALLY. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I AM TOLD THAT THE FLUID LEAKED OUT INTO A RESERVOIR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. IF THAT CYLINDER HAD BROKE, NO BRAKES. NOW, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP FOR A WEEK BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND THE PARTS NEEDED TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION. TO ME IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN IT'S CURRENT STATE ALTHOUGH THEY ARE STILL GIVING ME GRIEF AS TO WHETHER IS WILL BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IF THEY WILL PAY FOR THE RENTAL I AM HAVING TO USE IN THE MEANTIME. *TR

UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE DRIVER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,900.
I HAVE A 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT (CHEVROLET EQUINOX) THAT EXPERIENCES WILD ENGINE / TRANSMISSION / BRAKING BEHAVIOR DURING RAIN STORMS. THE BEHAVIOR IS THE ENGINE CUT-OUT + ANTILOCK BRAKES ALL AT ONCE, ALL FOUR TIRES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN RAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 20 TIMES, I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE NEW AND IT HAS 89,000 MILES ON IT NOW. THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR OF STABILITY CONTROL IN THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT. THE MECHANIC SAID THEY GET ABOUT ONE COMPLAINT A WEEK LIKE MINE, AND GM REFUSES TO ISSUE UPDATED SOFTWARE FOR THE STABILITY CONTROL, HOWEVER THE MECHANIC SAID HE KNOWS THERE IS A FIX FOR THE 2009 CARS. *TR
