2007 PONTIAC VIBE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER FAILURE WHILE DRIVING . *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RE-START THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE SOLD THE VEHICLE, AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK PEDAL. SUDDENLY, THE CAR ROARED UP TO AROUND 5000 RPM. I SHIFTED THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL ROARING LOUDLY FOR AT LEAST 3 TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. I HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR I BOUGHT THE CAR. HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT THIS ONLY OCCURS 2 OR 3 TIMES PER YEAR. BUT THIS TIME IT LASTED MORE THAN 10 SECONDS AND I NOTICED THE RPM WENT UP TO AROUND THE 5000 MARK. CARS THAT ARE STOPPED ALONGSIDE MY CAR CAN ALSO HEAR THE ENGINE ROARING VERY LOUD.
MY 2007 PONTIAC VIBE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THE MECHANICS TOLD ME IT WAS A PCM MODULE. I WAS TOLD THAT A RECALL WAS GOING TO HAPPEN IN OCTOBER. OCTOBER CAME AND WENT AND WHEN I CALLED GM THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE IN NOVEMBER. EACH MONTH I AM TOLD IT WILL BE THE FOLLOWING MONTH. HERE IT IS ,MARCH AND STILL NO RECALL. I AM PAYING INSURANCE,REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS ON A CAR I CAN"T DRIVE.THE SYMPTOMS ARE HARD SHIFTING AND SOME VIBE OWNERS HAVE REPORTING STALLING WHILE DRIVING 40 MILES PER HOUR. I COMMUTE 70 MILES ROUND TRIP AND AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL STALL SO I HAVE HAD IT PARKED AT WORK THESE SEVEN MONTHS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR GM BUT WAS AVAILABLE FOR TOYOTA. I FEEL GM SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS ALONG TIME AGO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V387000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) BEFORE THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN ANNUAL INSPECTION AND A CODE INDICATED A FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION WITH THE ECM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE CODE WAS RESET MORE THAN ONCE. THE CODE CONTINUED TO DISPLAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO PASS AN INSPECTION A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 PONTIAC VIBE. I HAD JUST STARTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE CAR STALLED. IT WOULD RESTART AND THEN DIE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN INTERNAL SHORT IN THE ECM. THE ECM WAS REPLACED AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. I WAS NOT GIVEN THE OLD PART. *TR
I WAS FOLLOWING A BICYCLIST GOING ABOUT 20MPH WHEN MY ENGINE CUT OFF AND WOULDN'T RESTART. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A DRIVEWAY BECAUSE I HAD JUST ROUNDED A CURVE AND ANY FOLLOWING VEHICLE WOULD LIKELY HAVE RUN INTO ME. THE PROBLEM WAS COMPUTER FAILURE AND HAS BEEN CORRECTED. *TR
