There were two incidents. 1. I was pulling into a parking spot at a Walmart driving very slowly, to almost reach the parking sign when the vehicle revved and lurched forward. I had to put my full pressure on the brake pedal, and eventually shifted to neutral and the revving subsided. I turned the car off and looked at the floor mat, which was in its usual position, and did not seem to be interfering with the pedal. Since this had not happened before, I rationalize that perhaps my foot had been on both the brake and accelerator. But I did not notice that my foot had slipped at all, and it was definitely on the brake when the revving occurred. 2. Today, my wife called me to tell me she had experienced the same revving while she was parking.
The contact stated their fiancé owned a 2007 Pontiac Vibe. The contact stated that while their fiancé was driving, MPH unknown, the vehicle was drifting, then suddenly veered towards the opposite lane going south, causing the vehicle to crash into two vehicles in that lane. The vehicle spun from the impact and ended up in the opposite lane, stopped. The front driver-side air bag deployed. The vehicle was towed and expected to be totaled. The other two vehicles involved in the crash were towed and had damage as well. The driver of the vehicle was injured at the location, following the incident, but received medical attention on the spot. At the hospital, the driver's injuries were fatal. The contact spoke with a certified mechanic who informed them that the Forward Collision Avoidance feature seemed to fail due to other safety features in the vehicle not activating and preventing the crash. The mechanic stated the safety feature seemed to take full control of the vehicle, not allowing the driver to safely operate the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact owned a 2007 Pontiac Vibe. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V627000 (Air Bags) and requested to be removed from the recall distribution list since the vehicle was totaled. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted.
The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac Vibe. The contact stated that the air bag had been previously replaced however, the air bag warning light illuminated after the replacement of the air bag. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the air bag inflators failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V627000 (Air Bags), 18V883000 (Air Bags), 15V285000 (Air Bags) and 15V286000 (Air Bags). The dealer had been contacted and it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in any of the recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated there were recalls for the air bags then referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact was also referred to NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.
Manufacturer is unable to remedy NHSTA Recall # 15V 285, also known as GM Manufacturer Recall # N 140491. It was brought to the GM Dealership, T&T Coast 2205 Highway 35, Sea Girt NJ 08750 THREE times. The first time they could not properly install an airbag, claiming the airbag they were trying to install was defective. The 2nd time another new airbag was installed but the SRS/Airbag dashboard light went on and would not go off. The THIRD time the dealership ran a OBD scan (and charged me) only to say, yep Code B-1911 showed on the scanner --- this is an SRS AIRBAG failure. They refused to fix it. UPDATE 06/29/2023- Consumer mailed in copy of invoice showing the issue and no repair, case number with GM.

THE PART THAT WAS USED TO REPAIR THE TAKATA PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT FIT IN THE SPACE OF THE AIRBAG. THE COVER FOR THE AIRBAG ON THE DASH IS PUSHED UP AT LEAST 1/2 INCH ABOVE THE DASH ON THE WINDSHIELD SIDE OF THE AIRBAG COVER. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS AFTER THE TECHNICIAN INSTALLED THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THESE WERE THE PARTS THAT WERE SENT TO THEM TO REPLACE THE PROBLEM AIRBAG PARTS.

ON AUGUST 28, 2019, A TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED FOR MY VIBE (GM RECALL #N192273760, NHTSA RECALL #19V627). I RECEIVED A LETTER ANNOUNCING THIS RECALL, BUT SINCE THEN I HAVE HEARD NOTHING. IT'S NOW BEEN ALMOST FIVE MONTHS, AND I'M HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING WHY I'M STILL UNABLE TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED. I NEED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE REGULARLY, AND I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY.
I HAVE RECEIVED MY THIRD RECALL NOTICE FOR A FAULTY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER FAULTY BAG. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS REPLACED WITH ANOTHER FAULTY BAG. SO NOW I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED FOR THE THIRD TIME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING AVAILABLE TO REPLACE IT WITH. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND A BIT SCARY TO KNOW THAT I AM DRIVING AROUND WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG THAT IS NOT SAFE. I HOPE THIS ISSUE WILL BE RECTIFIED SOON BEFORE PEOPLE ARE HURT.

RECALL 19V627 WAS ISSUED ON 8/28/19. IT HAS BEEN 6 1/2 MONTHS AND THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED PONTIAC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE REMEDY WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED ASAP!

TAKATA RECALL ON 5-6-19 MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG RECALL WAS DONE AT LUTHER CHEVROLET. ON THE WAY HOME I NOTICED THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE AIR BAG COVER APPEARED TO BE STICKING UP A BIT. I RETURNED TO LUTHER. IT WAS PRETTY LATE, THEY HAD MY CAR THE WHOLE DAY. (I DROPPED IT OFF THE DAY BEFORE) I TOLD THEM I WOULD RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AT A LATER DATE. ON MONDAY NIGHT 6-10 I AGAIN LEFT MY CAR AT LUTHER SO THEY COULD "FIX IT" TUESDAY NIGHT I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR TO FIND THAT NOW THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE AIR BAG COVER WAS FLUSH, BUT NOW THE LEFT FRONT CORNER WAS STICKING UP! EVENTUALLY, I SPOKE WITH CHRIS SHUGG, THE SERVICE DEPT. MANAGER. HE TOLD ME THAT THE REPLACEMENT AIR BAG WAS "TOO TALL" AND WOULDN'T ALLOW THE COVER TO FIT FLUSH AS IT HAD ORIGINALLY. (AT THIS POINT HE HAD UNKNOWINGLY ADMITTED IT COULD FIT FLUSH) HE THEN TOLD ME HE WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ANOTHER AIR BAG, AND I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE CAR IN AGAIN, AND THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. ON MONDAY NIGHT (6-19-19) I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AGAIN. I PICKED UP MY CAR TUESDAY AND THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE AIR BAG COVER WAS STILL STICKING UP. SO I TOLD THE AVAILABLE SERVICE WRITER TO HAVE CHRIS CALL ME AGAIN. CHRIS DID CALL ME, HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THE DASH BOARD, OR THE AIR BAG COVER MUST HAVE "DISTORTED OR WARPED" DUE TO AGE AND IT IS "JUST A COSMETIC ISSUE", THERE WOULD BE NOTHING MORE LUTHER COULD DO FOR ME. I DID NOT AGREE WITH HIS OPINION, AFTER ALL, THE COVER WAS FLUSH BEFORE THE RECALL WAS DONE. HE THEN SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT G.M. CUSTOMER SERVICE. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE ON 7-2-19 I WAS GIVEN A REFERENCE NUMBER OF [XXX]. SHE TOLD ME A SENIOR ADVISER WOULD BE CALLING ME REGARDING MY SITUATION. I SPOKE WITH LISA ON 7-11-19 WHO ECHOED CHRIS' ASSESSMENT THAT THIS IS PURELY A COSMETIC ISSUE. ATTACHED IS A CURRENT PIC. WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIRS, THEY FOUND THAT ANOTHER CAR, WITH MY VIN NUMBER HAD THE REPAIR DONE IN HUNTSVILLE, AL. MY CAR AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ALABAMA. THEY DENIED ME SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP IN HUNTSVILLE IS CALLED BENTLEY'S GMC (I THINK).
