TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTIFICATIONS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 10V024000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), 12V491000 (VISIBILITY), 14V168000 (AIR BAGS), AND 16V340000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT CALLED HI-WAY CHEVROLET BUICK INC AT (712) 476-5309 (LOCATED AT 1427 10TH ST, ROCK VALLEY, IA, 51247) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
PULLING OUT OF THE FIRESTONE PARKING LOT, LOOKED BOTH WAYS; NOTHING COMING FROM THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT, BEGAN TO PULL OUT, AND ALMOST HIT A GUY ON A MOTORCYCLE. THERE IS A VERY POORLY DESIGNED TRAIT IN MY PONTIAC VIBE WITH THE SIDE MIRRORS BLOCKING YOUR VIEW.... CAN THE MIRRORS BE CHANGED TO A SMALLER (HEIGHT) MIRROR? THIS HAD ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME TWICE SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS CAR.... NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE. 2009 PONTIAC VIBE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POTENTIAL FLOOR MAT INTERFERENCE WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH RECALL NOTICES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE ATTEMPTED TO GET THE RECALL RESOLVED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, ONLY TO BE INFORMED, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IMPLODED SHOWERING ME WITH GLASS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 435 IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA. THIS WAS UNEXPECTED, NEARLY CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ON THE RAIN WET ROADWAY WHILE A PANEL TRUCK WAS PASSING ME ON MY LEFT SIDE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE ESTABLISHING A PATTERN OF FAILURE FOR THIS WINDOW AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOWS. A RETAINER NOTCH AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS SEEMS TO BE A WEAK POINT WHICH CAUSES SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE TEMPERED GLASS WHICH CAN RESULT IN INJURY FROM GLASS IN EYES, DOWN CLOTHING AS WELL AS LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC VIBE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN SHE REVERSED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN HER BLIND SPOT. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES, SHE WAS UNABLE TO SEE CLEARLY THROUGH THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO PURCHASE A CONCAVE MIRROR FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE MIRROR YET WAS STILL UNABLE TO SEE IN HER BLIND SPOT. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES ON THE VEHICLE WERE 15, 000.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, WHEN HE PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN; THE EXTERIOR DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WAS MOUNTED TOO HIGH CAUSING A BLIND SPOT WHICH RESULTED IN POOR VISIBILITY.
